The Blue Crab Company is located in an end unit of the South Lane Plaza. The service and the food are both very good. The shrimp is a great choice, as are the blue crabs (they are, after all, called the Blue Crab Company). The prices here are good and, again, the service is friendly and the food is good. I would definitely recommend a visit here.
Sooooo this is just a drive thru and it was still amazing. My husband has demanded that I give a 5 stars because he will accept nothing less, and to be honest I agree. I got the 1/2 crab 1/2 Shrimp combo mild and it was sooooo good. We sat in the parking lot and devoured our food. I was tempted to double back and get a 2nd order but I didn't want to be a glutton lol when I am back in Jacksonville I will DEFINITELY be going back there for more....
My mom loves crabs but I really am not a fan especially if I have to cook it. Luckily I'm in Yelp and have read positive reviews on Blue Crabber Seafood. So I stopped by this past weekend to check it out. When I checked in to my surprise I got a 10% YELP discount coupon. So I placed my order with the nice young lady who told me that her father in the back was doing the steaming. She further shared that her father is the one catching crabs so it's always fresh. As I waited, while they steamed my mixed dozen, she offered me some garlic shrimp. It was delicious. In just 10 minutes my crab order was ready & man was it heavy. When I got home & presented the crabs to mom she was happy & sampled it right away. She was impressed on how fresh & tasty they were. The store is currently a food truck but will soon open a storefront right next to it in February. Great seafood is fresh & tasty & Blue Crabber Seafood offers both plus wonderful customer service. I will be back for the garlic shrimp for me & crabs for mom.
If you are searching for great seafood on the westside, just head down Normandy Blvd. and get yourself some fresh caught sweet blue crabs and succulent Mayport shrimp at the Blue Crabber Seafood spot. This is not a fancy location. It's a hidden gem where you order then you pick up your food to take home and enjoy in the comfort of your own home or at some large family gathering where you are sure to be the hit of the party if you show up with any of their Crab Trays, Crab Tray Combos, Garlic Crab Platters, Garlic Shrimp Combos, Fresh Live Blue Crab, Steamed Mayport Shrimp By The Pound, Blue Crab Tacos, Maryland Style Steamed Crabs, Shrimp Tacos, Crabby Patties, Crabby Bowls, Crab & Shrimp Cajun Bowls, Grilled Shrimp, or all of the above. Trust me. You will. Family owned and operated, the Blue Crabber is a combination of a seafood market and food truck and/or food stand that's waiting on permits or the build-out or other before they can get into the (assumed) building right next to where they are set up. Really doesn't matter. All I know is that the food that they serve right now however their set-up will eventually be is worth standing in line under the hot sun on a summer's day for however long it takes to get your order because the food is really that good. To my fellow sauce-whores: Make sure that you ask for the Spicy Ranch, Cilantro Lime Sauce, Sweet Chili Sauce, Cajun Cream Sauce and Garlic Butter. There's a charge of $0.75 per container, but it's worth trying. The customer service is excellent here and there's always a line of people waiting every single time I've driven past. I'm just glad I actually had the good sense to finally stop to go experience their food. I'll definitely be eating food from here again...

I was having a rough week at the office and had spent most of my lunches eating a sandwich at my desk. I thought the answer would be to try someplace new, maybe change my luck, maybe give me a new perspective. So reading reviews I came across Leah H's review of this restaurant and it convinced me to give it a shot and boy am I glad I did. Right now it is a good truck, but they are renovating a spot next door that will be open in the future. The space is cute, complete with banners and a trellis walled seating area. Parking is limited and it is hard to find, but so worth it when you do. I read reviews, decided what i wanted and ordered ahead - a crab cake and a shrimp taco. The crab cake was smallish, but was dense, loaded with crab and full of flavor. The fish taco was almost the opposite, light airy with fresh ingredients and savory shrimp. But as good as both of these dishes are, the sauces options make them that much better. Since it was my first visit, I got samples of all three so I could give them all a try. There are only a handful of options, so i am planning to go back next week to try other dishes - and anytime I need to change my luck.
My goodness!!! What a delectable treat! The owners of this establishment were more than personable and exude impeccable customer service consistently in my encounters with them. The crabs are priced phenomenal considering the size of the crabs received! The flavor and amount of meat in these blue crabs makes one think you actually have Dungeness or king crab. They were gargantuan! I'm accustomed to getting larger blue crabs as once you've eaten them going back to the smaller ones is...well...why? Just why? I don't think I've seen some this large and with that The Blue Crab Company has a loyal patron. I treated my mom to a tray and after ~2 days she finally reported she was able to finish them! She just kept saying how they were FULL OF MEAT! (That's what she said!! ) It took me days to work on mine as well because I got shrimp and sides of corn/ potato/egg...Mental note the Colossal crabs are enough! Kudos Blue Crab Company!! Truly a Diamond in the Rough!!
On a rare trip to the Westside, yesterday I stopped by Blue Crab Company. Tucked away in a shopping center, this end unit eatery has a drive-thru for your convenience. Because of COVID-19, the inside is closed to customers so for now the drive-thru is your only option. I ordered the Crabby Bowl with rice and garlic butter. The crab cake was huge! It was a little on the sweet side, not in a sugary way but more so the sweetness from bell peppers, I think. There was little to no filler which is always a plus. The rice paired well with it. They offer another bowl with the option of potatoes, if I'm not mistaken. Be prepared to call ahead since the inside is closed. Also, there was a bit of a wait but not too bad. It's because they make each order fresh. They also sell live crabs or you can get them steamed. It's just too bad they don't have a location closer to the Beaches. Otherwise, I'd visit more often.
I will definitely try this place again. Came from Atlanta and happened to stumble upon this place. I was disappointed when I found them closed but then I got a call saying they were just coming in from crabbing and would put my name on the list for the large Garlic crab because they was a wait list. I immediately said yes and was told it will be a couple hours which was fine by me. I went to the beach and enjoyed my day until the call came in. I was very pleased with the amount they gave me and the presentation. The only thing I would like next time is a little more seasoning but yes I will come back again!

One night I was craving shrimp - as one does - and decided to see what Yelp had to offer me. Blue Crabber came up with five stars and I was intrigued, as Normandy is not normally where you find places with five stars. I decided to try it right away. We got the garlic crabs combo and the garlic shrimp combo, plus an extra side of corn. Y'ALL. THIS STUFF WAS SO GOOD! That was plenty of food for two adults and two young kids (we actually had leftovers) and it was like $25 and delicious! I mean wow. Literally just a few days later I went there again to try something else on their menu that sounded amazing: the cajun shrimp and crab pasta. There wasn't nearly enough shrimp for my liking, but given the price that's not overly surprising. The flavor, however, was fantastic. It made for good leftovers too. I tried to go a third time but thankfully called ahead and found out their boat had broken down while out catching our food and they didn't have any seafood for us that day! Sucks, but it's kind of cool to really know they're catching the food. Today I made it for that third time and got the garlic crabs combo again. So good, as before. I also tried the Crabby Patty, which was good but nothing special. The woman working the window pointed out to me that they now have Crab Chowder, which I will definitely try next time! They have updated their handwritten menu board since the pictures currently on Yelp. The prices of some things have gone up just a little, and they've moved the pasta, shrimp tacos, and chowder to Tuesday-Thursday only, so keep that in mind if you're craving any of those. This place is totally a hole-in-the-wall and very easy to miss, so I suggest using GPS until you get used to where it is. It's kind of a food truck right now, but they're moving to the old dry cleaning place next door once they get a break. The window woman was telling me today that that's part of why they've minimized their offerings a bit; they need more time to get in that building and it's been hard since they've gotten really popular. I've interacted with two employees so far and they have both been extremely friendly and provided me with great service. I have nothing but good things to say about Blue Crabber!
The Westside's best kept secret!!! The location is drive through only which is very convenient. I had the large blue crab garlic butter tray. The sauce and seasoning were amazing. The crabs were huge with lots of meat. The staff was friendly and even gave me a free soda. This is my new favorite spot for blue crabs. read more

This is now my go to for blue crabs. You have to watch their Facebook page and see when it's available. They let you know when they are out crabbing and then they open in the afternoon until they sold out. The crabs were trash and seasoned to perfection. I live the way the cut their potatoes read more

It's a girlfriend weekend for the New Year and visiting from Maryland and Michigan. I ordered over the phone in the morning and picked up at 3 pm as instructed to do so; paid when I picked up also. Wait in line through the drive through which goes quickly. Delicious crabs with great, kind and pleasant customer service. Highly recommend!! Will stop by during my next visit!! read more

Maryland style steamed crabs!!! I'm a Maryland transplant to Florida. I have searched high and low for good steamed crabs. These are the best! My family went wild! The crabs were perfectly cooked and flavorful. The people there couldn't have been nicer! I was getting the crabs for my sister's birthday celebration and the woman I talked to was so helpful and made sure I got exactly what I needed. I will be back! They are working on a more permanent location and I wish the Blue Crabber all the best of success! Great job! read more

If I could give this place 10 stars I would!!! I was in town for a work conference and decided to check this place out. The owner was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful in helping us understand the menu options and how to order. He even took a funny picture with us and a live blue crab. Now to the food. It was absolutely AMAZING. I can't wait to hopefully return one day as I live 3.5 hours away. read more

GREAT flavor!! Prices are also good!! I will be going back to try the crab cake! The garlic tray was so good and the crabs were huge!! Wanted a combo tray but they were out of shrimp and eggs. Nice spot to get a quick meal. I liked the texture of the shrimp and the flavors. The dry seasoning is delicious but it's not a buttery plate just a bit oily at the bottom. The service was amazing and I would come back here to explore the menu but I do prefer saucy shrimp over rice. read more

This is my favourite place to get my crabs they are always season just right and they have so many things to choose from. Please try their crab cakes tasty on the inside and out. This place is a family owned business and they are the best if you need a smile just go see my girl she will make your day read more
