I love how friendly everyone is here! No matter when you come in, someone is there to get you. You order at the counter and they bring it out to you. The food is usually very good - the fried shrimp awesome! I am allergic to peppers but wanted a house salad as a side. Most are pre-made and had bell peppers on top. When I explained my allergy, they made me a fresh one without peppers. It was very good. I got shrimp and scallops they were able but over cooked, had a good blanket flavor to them. Located in a bit of a remote area this sweet mom n pop restaurant is a hidden gem! You walk in and order at the counter, find a table and they bring the food to you. We had gator bites, seafood sampler with green beans and fried green tomatoes, stuffed flounder, hush puppies, Lima beans, fish sandwich and fries. Everything was super good! Came out hot and fresh and the lady tending to the tables was such a sweetheart. Very attentive to all the tables and the girls up front were super friendly! Even gave suggestions on something in every food category. The place looks like a little diner and isn't loud or anything. And if you go on Sunday after church, you get an additional 10% off! Found out about this place from a friend, otherwise don't think I would ever stumble across it. Real Mom and Pop restaurant with a small hometown feel. You have to place your order at the counter, get a number and they bring the food over to your table. Great customer service! What we ate: Blackened Basa (white fish) and crab cakes with sweet potato fries and fried Okra. The fish was delicious flaky and the right amount of spicy, the fries were great also. First time having fried okra, taste like fried okra nothing special about it. Crab cakes was very good, a little more filler than I like but way less than I expected and very flavorful. Blackened Salmon was also very good and cooked to perfection not too dry. Bang Bang Shrimp was good, wasn't enough bang for me but it was good. Certainly the best choice for seafood in Callahan. I usually get the seafood platter for 1. Fish, shrimp, scallops, oysters, deviled crab and the best clam strips I have eaten in my life. If you are detouring around Jacksonville and want good seafood Junior's is where you should stop. It is in a strip mall but you get beachfront quality food in little tiny Callahan. The salmon BLT was delicious and came with a baked potato. The mahi tacos had just enough heat and they were ready in a jiffy. Everything coming out of the fryer was golden brown and delicious. Very pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We like the appearance from the outside and looked over the menu on the web. We thought we were prepared, not at all. I was unaware that we ordered and sat down. So when I got to the counter, I drew a blank. After looking again, we ordered successfully. We started with the fried veggie sampler. Amazing, fresh and tons of it. I got the ocean pasta with scallops. There was so much seafood! It was endless. The pasta also came with garlic bread and a side (I chose rice pilaf). My husband got the ribeye. It was thin but tender and cooked perfectly. He loved his fries and onion rings. Our son got the sweet Pete's Honey Chicken sandwich. He like the sauce and toppings. He also commented about how good the fries were. Overall a great choice when passing through town. Really great food and the employees were wonderful. Now the bad....unfortunately. The men's restroom was a disaster (see picture). We wanted so bad to unsee the issue but it was impossible. A second trip will be necessary the next time we pass through. I needed a meeting spot in the area to have dinner with a friend. We agreed on Junior's. The food was very good. The fried catfish and fried shrimp combo had a light and crispy coating with just the right amount of seasoning. Before I tasted the catfish, I had planned to sprinkle on some hot sauce like I usually do whenever I eat catfish. But after the first mouth-watering bite, I realized that this catfish already tasted so good that it didn't need any extra seasoning. And the succulent tail-on shrimp were sweet and tender. The hush puppies were delicious, with just a hint of sweetness. The service was interesting. When you first enter the restaurant, you go to the cashier to order prior to taking a seat at one of the many tables or booths located in the restaurant. The cashier gives you a number to put on your table and then they will bring you the food as soon as it is ready. The decor was basic, but the food more than made up for it. I can't wait to go back for more. Next time, I will bring my wife. read more

Very disappointed tonight. We have been here many times and have always gotten fast service but tonight we waited for an hour and a half and still nothing. At least they gave our money back. We were told by a "local" this was not a good place to eat. I am glad we ignored their "advice." We were greeted upon entering and given menus. We sat down and made our decisions, then went to the counter and ordered. We ordered Cajun Calamarie for appetizer, Fried catfish, shrimp, gator tail , oysters, fried green tomatoes, green beans and fries. (hushpuppies come with the meal) Wow, what a spread of food. The portions were huge, arrived hot and tasted delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection. If you ever happen to be in the area, don't pass up this restaurant. I like and have alway patronized Juniors in Jacksonville before the fire. So, hubby and I decided to check out the one in Callahan since it was not too far down the road. The food on Callahan was just as good as the one in Jacksonville. It seems like the dining room are may be slightly larger. I like ordering fried fish from Juniors specifically. I usually prefer not to eat fried foods it Juniors is never fried too hard so I don't mind it every once in a while. So if you patronize Juniors in Jacksonville, try the one in Callahan.
