I really wanted to like New Berlin Seafood, but after giving it two chances, I'm honestly left…read moredisappointed. On my first visit (a Wednesday), I waited over an hour just to be seated....only to find out they were completely out of oysters for the week. That was frustrating, especially after such a long wait. I decided to give them another shot this past Wednesday, hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately, it didn't improve. This time, I was told that oysters can no longer be prepared a certain way because it's considered a "special order." Instead, you're limited to however they choose to serve them.....either raw or lightly steamed. For a seafood spot, that's a bit surprising. Most people have a preference when it comes to oysters, and being told you can't customize your order feels restrictive. After speaking with the manager, she did agree to accommodate my request this one time (for one or two dozen), but also made it clear that moving forward, it wouldn't be allowed. That response didn't sit well with me....it gave the impression that customer preferences aren't really a priority. Between the long wait times, limited availability, and lack of flexibility with orders, I left feeling unpleased and unsatisfied. At this point, I'm not sure if I'll be returning.

They said the oysters come from VA frozen, not fresh, and they open them ahead of time and put them in a container. I will be filing a complaint with the state at 850-487-1395. The garlic crab was packed cold with an ice pack you're supposed to warm those when you get home. They were garlicky, spicy, and delicious. The service was pretty quick. When the crawfish season starts around April, the price is about $6/lb. As the month progresses, it reaches to about $3 or $4lb in June. However, when you buy in bulk (large quantities), you get a discount. Crawfish season ends in June. I wish that they have more selection of seafood, such as clams, fish, crabs, etc. Be aware that live blue crabs are sold out fast! Their hours vary, but they are usually opened Thursday - Saturday from 8 AM to 4 PM. And on Sunday, about 9 AM to about 3 PM. Give this place a try for their fresh seafood from the Mayport!

They have rock shrimp. That's really hard to find specially fresh not frozen in a block already…read morepeeled. I got 5lbs of fresh and then some nice huge shrimp that came off the boat yesterday. This guy is from Mayport and the shrimp look really good. Nice color and no real smell like shrimp and fish should be. After all if it smells fish give it back to the fish.
