Amazing greasy spoon diner. Good food for good prices. Cash only so be sure to bring some or they have an ATM in the back.

I took my daughter to Bob's Diner. It's advertised as affordable five-star dining, so how could I pass that up? It's located on Ridge, next to a cemetery; which actually makes it kinda peaceful, not creepy. I adore a cute theme and the diner car is fun. It's cozy but not cramped, with plenty of space at the counter. The staff was friendly, though I have to mark down the service since the hostess ignored my daughter and I for two full minutes to pack mugs into a cardboard box while we waited to pay. The prices were reasonable for the portion size, but I wasn't impressed by the pancakes. The bacon was crispy and tasty, the eggs cooked well, and the coffee was average for a diner. Our meal came out to about $25, which was a little high for the quality. The joint is cash only, with an ATM in the back.

I met the owner's brother randomly one day and he mentioned this place. Ever since then it was on my bucket list - my husband and I tried it out for a low key breakfast date and it did not disappoint. inside, this place is larger than it looks from the outside but has a cozy, old school feel, you look around and you can tell some of the people there are loyal regulars. It feels like a hug on a cold day in there. This no frills place has some good eggs, fluffy pancakes and super friendly staff always waiting to give you coffee refills (the coffee is just ok, for all you coffee snobs out there). this might also be the place to go for a greasy hangover cure. Sit in a booth or sit at the bar/kitchen and have a chat with staff. I bet you'll leave this local favorite in a good mood.

Wow. Boy was that a treat! Great food, better people. They do it right at Bobs. Bob muffin is a must try! Don't say you're from Philly if you've haven't been to Bobs.

Always a classic. The egg and pepper sandwich was expertly crafted. Parker on the street and wasn't robbed.

Great Diner. Been going since the early 80s. Never had a bad meal. Creamed Chipped is perfection and love the Waffles. Definitely enjoyable.

I was absolutely right! Our party of 4 arrived to our 1:30 reservation and were immediately greeted by a lovely host. Shortly thereafter, we were walked to our booth. I just love the decor of the place; old school diner with a modern kind of nightlife vibe. Our waitress was super friendly and gave solid suggestions. Food was fresh, flavorful and just the right amount. And the cocktails were also very good. When back in Philly, I'll be sure to visit Silk again!

We were seated in the train part of the diner and it didn't disappoint. Lots of greenery and eclectic Philly memorabilia too. Dorie was our waitress. Our table ordered: Chicken & Waffles, Breakfast Burrito and me - I couldn't decide so Dorie helped me create a sampler of sorts with Shrimp & Grits and 1 slice of Banana Foster French Toast. I originally ordered the Espresso Martini but it wasn't what I was expecting based on what I saw on IG. Dorie had no issue with getting me something else and brought me Espress Ya'Self. Now my daughter said the Breakfast burrito was full and tasty and her friend enjoyed the buttermilk fried chicken thighs, vanilla waffle, herb-maple chicken gravy, hot-honey, maple butter. It looked really good. Now imagine banana foster flavor infused over a Texas Toast sized french toast with caramelized bananas and dark rum glaze with pecans. Be prepared for the prices but it's worth it!

It's nasty and angry and ugly and it seems that nobody cares about doing a good job or providing a good service. The exception to my recent experiences in Philadelphia is the Oregon Diner. From the gentleman who seated us, our lovely and friendly waitress, the spotless dining room, delicious meal, and prices that are more than fair, everything in the Oregon diner was wonderful. To help make my point, I have never in my life, eaten a side dish of spinach that was more tasty. Spinach. Who puts that much effort into a side of spinach? The Oregon Diner Chef, that's who. The French Onion Soup and burger were tops too. I cannot say enough good things about this place. It brought me back to the South Philly I remember from my childhood. Thank you for restoring my faith that there is some good still left in Philadelphia. God bless you! Go here next time you are looking for someplace to eat. You will not be disappointed.

Inside, the food was fresh, plentiful, and delicious. We chose side salads instead of fries and they were a great size to start the meal. My husband had the fish and chips and the cod was fried perfectly, 4 nice fillets, crisp outside and tender inside. He swapped the fries for a baked potato and it tasted like it came straight from the oven, hot and fluffy. They offered a long list of specials for 16.99 that included beverage, soup, salad, an entrée and dessert. The cakes and pies looked fabulous and many were ordering dessert.
