Tavern or Step dog..? Can't remember I've eaten there so often in a month of being in town.

Young adults running this place do an amazing job! Literally always polite, responsive even at their busiest of days. So I've never had a Tavern hot dog or sandwich in my life until here; Super good! A bit pricey for a hotdog but I guess I'd pay the extra rather than resort to McDonalds food.

This was a pleasant surprised. We walked up and inside. The menu is also on the outside if you want to go. The menu is very easy to read. Only wish it had some descriptions for non traditional items. Ordered the pork tenderloin. It was awesome. Ordered some fried cheese curds which were nice addition. Wife just had a simple burger and onion rings. Definitely would go back.

You can beat Bob's meat loaded dogs or taverns in soft and squishy buns, and the chili is also tasty. Over the years they have branched out to offering salads and fish, a big menu expansion from when you could only order dogs, taverns, potato chips and soft serve ice cream many years ago. Take a short detour from highway 75 to enjoy these classic drive up eats and enjoy them inside, on the patio, in the outdoor picnic area or in your car like the old days.

Came to visit my girlfriends hometown and she had been telling me about Bobs for a while. It has a very small town vibe to it which was cool and different from what I'm used to. The woman working the counter was very nice and made me feel welcome! I heard i had to try a famous "Bobs Dog" so that's what I decided to go with. Let me tell you it exceeded the hype i had for it! I know a hot dog doesn't sound crazy but this wasn't just a hot dog. It was a hot dog with "tavern meat" which is basically loose meat, i added cheese and ketchup and from the first bite I was hooked, it was amazing! I also had fries and a Oreo shake which were great too. I started with one dog but immediately after i finished that, I got up and had another. Bobs is worth the hype and I will be stopping here every time I visit LeMars!

Nostalgia? Yes. Actually delicious and tasty? Debatable. We stopped in this past weekend Bob's on our way to Okoboji and I was excited after reading all the reviews. The prices were reasonable, the inside was cute and quaint, and service was friendly enough. Upon receiving their famous hot dog (I was ravished at this point) I ate it and it tasted fine. Nothing to write home about. The meat, ketchup, mustard combo on the top was really good, however, the hot dog itself was meh...In fact, it tasted like they boiled the hot dogs. (Both me and my husband thought so) The fries and onion ring portions were huge, but lacking substantial flavor. Definitely frozen and fried VS. fresh cut and/or fresh battered. Clearly I'm the minority in thinking this since the place was packed and several reviewer rave about it. I would just say try it for yourself and see. I love trying local places when we're driving through, but unfortunately, this was a miss for me.

Fabulous food! Can't go wrong with anything you order. Their shakes and Malta are some of the best.

Best Lunch On Earth...that should be their slogan. I'd say more, but the cheese tavern speaks for itself.

Seriously the best hot dogs with meat sauce. When they close for the winter you can't wait until they reopen

Fun family tradition that I hope lives on forever. Who would think a hotdog would turn into a community favorite.

It used to be somewhat similar and comparable to (Jerry's). Not anymore, $89 for four pizzas. Godfathers, Casey's, pretty much any other place would've been better and half the price.

My last review was raving about the food, atmosphere and service, today was definitely a one star…read more The Philly with mushrooms and cheese sauce was delicious so that was the positive thing about the visit. I did not get photos of the food this time because by the time we got our food it was about an hour after getting there (we were there 10 mins after they opened). The side salad was luke warm and the lettuce was welted. I would not order the side salad again. The amount of bacon bits on was very over powering so much I couldn't even finish it. Then they forgot my kids chicken strips and we were almost done before they brought them out, Ridiculous! Then when the bill came out they charged $3.50 for a soda that was included with a kids meal because "well we gave her a bigger size". Thats great I didn't ask you too. She still drank the same amount whether it was in a big glass or kids cup. They did take it off the bill which was nice. Then after paying the bill and got back to our friend's house we noticed they charged us for their appetizer, I should have done better checking over the bill so that was my fault I didn't check it better. After an hour and a half sitting there I was just ready to leave. Safe to say this place is delicious Philly Cheese steaks but the wait staff is hit or miss.

This is indeed a Mid restaurant…read more Small town opinion is that it's a great addition to a dwindling selection of variety. Big city folk opinion is that it's trash. Over all? 4/10. The fries were good, the reviews with 3 stars are pretty spot on. I came in on a Wednesday night, the restaurant was reasonably busy, I asked for the Birria nachos, and a side of fries. The nachos were ironically dry, the cheese hardened in seconds to the construction paper under, there was no flavor which I tried to help with more cheese dip (didn't work). The server came over and asked how I was enjoying it, (I'd eaten less than 6 nachos at this point) I said "it's unappetizing, I can't eat this, I'm sorry, it's just not very good" She took the plate, but made me pay for a terrible dish. That was hardly eaten. I tried to make it appetizing in order to eat it and not waste it, but 2 chips from there I was done. I finished the fries and left hungry. You have A LOT OF INEXPERIENCED SERVICE PEOPLE HERE. I did not see a single adult in the restaurant. No one of age to run the staff, check on food, check on customers, run plates, or help with the over all atmosphere. This is why the customer service is suspect, they don't want to pay to have a competent adult running the place. It's "small town good" but not for anyone from somewhere with much better places available. (The prices were a tad high for the lack of ability to create worth while dishes.)

The nachos were decent, but a tad dry. The steak was tender and the mashed potatoes were cheesy and filled with bacon. The lunch service was pretty slow.
