Every now and then, a girl needs a guy to ride in on his trusty steed and play the role of Knight in Shining Armor. Tonight, was that night for me and I'm glad that Dave answered the call! He drove all the way to Grafton in his big Green Steed to save my hide and I have nothing but praises for his professionalism and expertise. Let me explain ... Against my better judgment, I drove 2 miles to Costco tonight to exchange some Cashews. I should have walked because I needed the exercise and it was time to take my Service Dog out for his last walk. But noooooo, the lazy lady in me decided to drive because I was craving a sweet treat and could only get it if I took the nasty Raw Unsalted Organic Cashews (I bought last month) back to exchange them for something yummier (preferably chocolate) -- LOL. Everything was going fabulously. Costco didn't even give me a hard time about not having a receipt. The exchange went well and I controlled my instincts and got healthy snacks instead of chocolate. I was feeling all victorious and decided to go home and walk the dog through downtown Grafton. Then, it happened. I tried to start the car and got NOTHING! I called AAA and after puttering around with a stupid BOT much longer than anyone should, a human ordered the tow truck from Bob's Main Street Auto & Towing! I was told it would take an hour but in about 30 minutes, I saw the big green steed powering through the parking lot toward me! I happily waved it down and out jumped my knight -- Dave! Dave came over and introduced himself. He got the keys and checked the car. He declared he could probably get the car started and got busy. After a quick assessment (on-site), he let me know that the battery was dead. Even though the lights were on in the car, the battery needed charging and probably should be replaced. I was able to drive home and he will help me get AAA to send a battery replacement tomorrow. Dave was so pleasant the entire time. He was all business but very human about the whole thing. He was the type of human being that I was happy to interact with -- polite, willing to help, patient, and empathic. It's nice that when I was feeling a little harried and kind of jumpy to encounter someone confident and reassuring. He made me feel safe and like I would get home without any unnecessary drama! I'm very grateful to have met Dave and his trusty steed tonight! I hope to never need the service again but if I do, I sure won't hesitate to call directly or ask specifically for Dave at Bob's Main Street Auto & Towing. Thanks Dave! A rental car I was using got a flat tire on my way home from work. I called the rental company and they dispatched someone to help put the spare on so I could drive the car over and exchange it for another. JP from Bob's Main Street Auto is who showed up to help. The text I got from the rental company gave me an estimated wait of 88 minutes for someone to arrive. JP was there in 13 minutes, which I greatly appreciated, and the entire process was done fairly quick. I thought he was knowledgeable, professional, and pleasant to work with. I hope I don't need to reach out to Bob's Main Street Auto in the future because I don't want to wish car trouble upon myself, but I wouldn't hesitate to do so if needed. read more

JP towed my car to the dealership for service when I wasn't able to drive it safely. He was professional, courteous and on time!

Couldn't be more disappointed. I took my 2014 Jeep Patriot in, it was jumping and clunking before the gear would shift up. They told me I had to replace the drive shaft, which I did. It cost me over $1600. It did not fix the problem. I dealt with it for a few months before taking my Jeep somewhere else. Turns out I had a bad spark plug which was causing a misfire ....... I paid Bob's Main Street Auto over $1600 to replace the drive shaft, when all I needed to do was replace a $10 spark plug. I'll never go there again for anything. read more

I will admit up front that I had no service done by Bob's. My issue is with the tow truck operator. While leaving Walmart, I backed out of my parking spot when I notice Bob's tow truck. I figured there should be room to get around but as I got closer, there wasn't. I then looked for a parking spot to turn around. Unfortunately the only spot was close to the tow truck. I pulled into the spot and when i looked back they had pulled a car up behind me. So i waited for them to load the car. Yes, i was annoyed which he must have observed because it seemed like he was taking his time. But when i could finally leave, BOB'S TOW TRUCK driver started yelling at me. He was shouting something about being an emergency vehicle driver and such. I didn't want to disappoint him but the car was dead. I dont see there is any need for a power hungry nasty tempered tow truck driver who can't show common courtesy to make room for others. read more

My car tire blew out early in the morning on the expressway. Originally towing it home because everything was closed at 5am. Dave saved the day! I had a packed up Subaru at my apartment, ready to start the day at 3:30 am and move across the country. I discovered my car wouldn't start and placed a request through AAA. Dave answered that request QUICKLY and called me to let me know he'd be to my location shortly! He tested and jumped my battery and let me know it'd need to be replaced. He understood I wanted to head out so gave me tips on how to keep my battery charged AND recommended I stop at an AutoZone somewhere so I could get my battery replaced. Dave was so kind and helpful! Critical: Quality Over sell and under deliver. Bobs is like any other shop except Ryan and George are amazing sales people. I took my car it to have extensive work done on it that took over a week to finish. They did provide a loner car and that was a nice, but not worth the hassle. When I got my car back I realized right away that the problem was not fixed. When I came back to the shop 15 mins later I was told to call to schedule an appointment and they would get me right in. So I called and they told me that they were swamped and would not be able to get me in for a week. When they were finally able to get my car in they told me that it would be an additional cost to fix what should have been done in the first place. Mind Blown....I will not be returning to Bob's and will continue to look for a shop that puts the customer first. read more

My car insurance send this company to my rescue today my car unexpectedly overheated in Menomonee Falls in our way to Cabelas and we need yo take the car back home by airport so we request roadside assistance and this company take care of our SUV. These folks are top notch. I had to get an emissions check, other places needed an appointment, only did it Monday they Thursday, kind of a hassle. I sent Bob's a message, they shot me back a response quickly, said I could stop in, any time, and they'd take care of it. I got there, was in and out in less than ten minutes. Earlier this year I took my Honda to Bob's Main Street Auto because my dome light was acting up and I thought my battery needed changing, they charged me $245 for the battery, the dome light and the electrical inspection. Two weeks later the dome light was out again so I took it back and they gave me a new bulb. Two weeks later the thing had blown again. I called them and they said they would have to bring down the roof panel. I told them I would be taking the car to Honda to have them look at it, they said they would clean the connections for me. I went to get the car and so far so good. Last week I took my Honda to them for brakes. They told me the front brakes needed cleaning but the back needed new pads. They told me the good news was that the rotters did not need resurfacing. They then quoted $490.00 before taxes and fees. I called the Honda dealership and they quoted under $200. I had Honda do the brake service to the front brakes, change the rear brake pads and change my wiper blade inserts. With tax and fees included I paid $232!!!!!! If you own a Honda stay away from Bob's. They will charge you more than double. Maybe they think Honda owners are made of money. I am giving them one star because they gave me a ride home and back to the shop BUT I will NEVER go there again read more

Marc was dispatched to our AAA plea for our maroon 1996 Buick. When we called, we were simply hoping for help getting into the car (we got into this loop of, it was sitting and didn't start, we couldn't use the keyfob because, well, the battery was dead, and the car is ancient and the doors don't work - so we thought the door was the best, first place to start). Not only was Marc super prompt (like at our door in maybe ten min), but he got the doors open, got the car started AND even put air in the tire. I've been taking my cars to Bobs for the last 8 years. Mostly because they are so close to where I live and the service was always good. I always felt like I was paying more than I'd pay elsewhere but for the convenience and service I felt it was worth it. Well, I was wrong. I just found out how much more I've been paying when my son's car needed a new clutch. I took the car to Bobs and was quoted $1,900 for the clutch kit, flywheel, and slave cylinder!! The service writer told me it was an 8 hour job so they'd need the car all day (this will be important in a moment). The price tag seemed excessive so I shopped around. I went to two other shops to get quotes and they both quoted me $975 for the exact same service. So I did more digging. I checked out the dealership costs for parts (so more expensive OEM parts, not what an independent shop would use). All total the parts were $589 with tax. So even if Bob's was using OEM parts, that means $1,300 in labor and taxes. So I took out the taxes and possible fees and divide by the 8 hours he told me and it still comes to over $150 an hour. A dealership doesn't even charge that much!! So either Bob's is charging excessive hourly rates or they're massively marking up the costs of parts. Either way I'll never be back. I'm rather disgusted to know just how badly they are taking advantage of people who foolishly (like me) put their trust in them. read more

I requested service through my car insurance provider. They sent Dave out for help with a tire. I couldn't be happier with his service call. He was quick to the location, called to let me know he was 10 minutes away, and took the time to look and fix the problem, not just throw on a spare. He fixed my tire in he spot for a very reasonable price. Dave even took a look at another tire he thought looked a little low and offered some suggestions on how to care for it. I hit a rock on the road pretty late at night and got a flat tire. I called for roadside assistance and Dave showed up within an hour. He replaced and filled my spare tire with air and even checked the flat tire to see if it was fixable. Dave was very friendly and quick and he got it done in less than 30 minutes. My car died on the highway, Friday evening on the holiday weekend before Christmas. I was on my way to visit family, only half way through my trip and obviously already stressed from the wrench in my plans.. Their driver, Jesse picked me up, brought me to the place my insurance told us to go and we realized it looked liked like they were gone for the weekend and my chances of getting my car fixed this weekend were slim to none. He helped me locate a much better auto shop and dropped me off at a nearby hotel. Car trouble is never a good thing, but Jesse made it about as positive experience as he possibly could. I only worked with Bobs auto through AAA. My tire blew out on the highway and I requested road side assistance. I wasn't at the vehicle but was on my way. So the man spoke to me on the phone very rudely and actually hung up on me. So when we arrived, the man was very rude and would not put on the spare because it was a little bald and I called his supervisor to see what the best option was. He heard that I was calling his supervisor and just decided to leave. He just up and left and wouldn't put the spare on. There was no trying to figure out what to do and the man would not even help us. I had to call AAA again and they sent a different auto place and they put the spare on for us. The spare did last to the destination- which was less than 10 miles away. Bobs auto just left us stranded for another hour because of the lack of help that they provided. I wouldn't go to this auto place and I would request someone else if AAA says bobs auto is coming to help. I had a very bad experience and would never go to them again. read more

During the last 3-4 years this business has unfortunately gone downhill. When I first moved to the area 7 years ago I was impressed with the level of customer service I received and the competitive pricing that was offered to do repair work on my car. Those days are over. This place has lost my business for good. I have a couple family members that feel the same way. In the past 3-4 years either myself or family members have taken our vehicles in for repair work and had to go elsewhere to actually get them fixed due to the outrageously high repair quotes we received. We are talking repair costs that double, and even sometimes triple, that of other places. It doesn't matter which location you go to either. It is sad to see that happen, but it is inevitable sometimes. read more

Its Christmas Eve and we found ourselves stranded along the road with a dead engine and a car full of presents. Every car towing, repair, and rental place we called was closed for the holiday. We called Volkswagen roadside assistance and they arranged for Bob's to come pick us up. We found out once the tow was arranged that Bob's also does rentals. So they picked us up, found us a rental (when everyone else was all out of inventory), and got us on our way. They even dropped off the car at the dealer. Friendly, reasonable people, who helped us get on our way. Not over-priced either. read more

We were out for a "Sunday Drive," only a couple of hundred miles (not at all unusual for us). We were halfway, coming out of Port Washington on WI-33 westbound. Just past Newburg the car died. Alternator. Called AAA, and 45 minutes later came Bob and Mrs. Bob to tow us in to their shop. We would have to stay overnight. They recommended the AmericInn and provided us with a free loaner car to get there (all we had to do was return it with a full tank). The AmericInn was fine. Monday morning they called with an estimate to fix the car, a little spendy but not out of line to replace an alternator on a car where the front axle has to be removed. We got the call to come pick up the car a little after lunch, paid the bill, and went happily home. Car's running great! read more

This review is one star only because it does not allow negative My son had an accident when a car pulled out in front of him. No one hurt seriously. My son called me and when I went to the scene with by brother-in-law as both of our sons were in the car. When I arrived two officers were there and the witness had already been interviewed and released. The other vehicle was drive able, my son's was not. The officer asked who I wanted for a wrecked and I talk him Bob's Auto. Today I get the tow bill from Bob's Main Street Auto & Towing - Decorah Rd where I see a charge of $150 for winch service, on top of all the other fees. I went to Bob's to question the winch charge and was told it was a roll over...... No, it was a T-bone with front end damage. Then I am told it was up on the curb and had to be winched off. No, it was backed up by the tow truck operator, driven across the street to the parking lot. This issue was turned over to the insurance company with details on not paying the $150 over charge. read more
