I traded in my used vehicle (2006 Dodge Durango) for 2 oil changes as CPD was ticketing it and I was afraid of getting another ticket because I didn't have the money ($800) to fix the Durango oil leak...I had asked to be towed in and they said no for the fix but were at the house within 5 minutes to tow the vehicle away to keep it. I've used Herman's for Tires and General maintenance in the past . Always does a great job excellent work .... Something did trouble me . a couple of months ago when walking in, I witnessed a exchange between Sparky and a attractive young woman while replacing a Headlight bulb .He made a lewd /suggestive comment about her appearance ,and I don't know the circumstances upon the exchange, but I would be remiss if I didn't say something. We don't live in Cedarburg anymore but we did for about 20 years. We got all our tires, brakes and other automotive service at Herman's. It was always great service at a fair price, done quickly with a smile, and always with candy for our kids. Herman runs the cleanest garage in the world. He even let us use his garage for a surprise birthday party for my wife with the hoist turned into the bar, something we will never forget. This is a wonderful family business. I walked in same day having major problems with my tires, wheel bearings, and tire sensors, he was able to start working on it right away assuring me it would be done the next day. Herman and Sparky will continue to receive my business. The service that they provide is always quick and accommodating. A few days ago a large pothole caused damage to one of my front tires, and after calling the vendor who originally installed my tire and being told that it could take up to a week to get one of my tires, Sparky told me he could get the tire for me the same day! He gets busy sometimes so give him some space, but he always gets it done the same day. Local businesses like Herman's are what make Cedarburg such a great place to be! read more

Disclaimer - this happened two years ago. Someone just reminded me about it so I thought I would write a review for everyone to be aware of. I had been driving around with a nail in my tire for a while and I finally decided to go take it in to get fixed. My husband was very insistent about me asking for a patch, not a plug. I got recommendations from people I knew and then I called around and got estimates. I decided on Herman's in Cedarburg because it was the most convenient and I'd gotten some great recommendations about them, even though they weren't the cheapest. So I called and made an appointment and specified that I wanted a patch, and the lady said it would be $25. I got there was surprised by how quick it was. The mechanic was very friendly and I was happy with the experience. I got home and my husband said 'Wow, that was fast. They took off your tire and patched it and everything?'. I said no, he didn't take the tire off, he just had me roll forward until he found the nail and then he fixed it. By the stunned-turned-angry look on his face, I knew something was wrong. Suffice it to say, they didn't patch it, they plugged it. I had specified that I wanted it patched when I went in and he said okay, but obviously he figured I wouldn't know the difference. (And he was right). My husband could have plugged it himself at home for about fifty cents, but he wanted it patched since it's better quality. So I called to complain and the lady tried to feed me a line of BS saying that you can't patch a tire in the tread, a plug is standard and $25 is the going rate, blah blah blah, and a whole bunch of other lies. Finally I got the owner on the phone and he acted like it was a huge mistake, said they guy definitely should have done a patch, and told me to bring it in Monday so they could fix it. What a pain! Maybe it was an honest mistake, but I highly doubt it. I'm sure the guy knew the difference between a plug and a patch, he just figured I'd be gullible and he could rip me off. So in summary - buyer beware, and make sure you're knowledgeable about what you want the mechanic to do. He easily could have gotten away with it if my husband hadn't caught on. read more

We have used Herman's on a number of occasions. We have found them to be excellent. They work with us to find the mot cost effective repair, that is still high quality. We trust them completely when our vehicles need service. We have asked for tire patches and received the requested patch job. I have never experienced the dishonesty the other rating is claiming. Employees do sometimes make mistakes. Give me a break, don't tear down a business who made a mistake and rectified it. They are friendly, cost effective and we highly recommend them. Oh and my experience was not two years ago, we have used them within the last two months. read more

My car broke down at a stoplight around 5:30pm on the Main Street in Cedarburg less than one block from Hermans. I was alone in the car and not sure what to do, as it was a busy time, and some cars were blocked from being able to pass my broken-down car. So I hopped out of the car and ran over to Hermans and asked if anyone could come help push my car out of the way. Several employees came and pushed my car approximately 15 yards into their parking lot. I then asked if I could have the car parked there overnight to be towed to the dealership in the morning. Since it was the end of the work day, it did not seem like a big inconvenience. I called Hermans from work the next morning to verify that the tow truck had come to take my car, and the service person told me it had, and then proceeded to request payment of $25 for pushing my car out of the way and leaving it in their (empty) lot overnight. I was a little shocked, but still grateful for their help and not sure what else to do. I paid them, but the whole exchange seemed money-hungry and disingenuous for a small town business. I felt a bit like I'd been taken advantage of. I decided that I would never give them my business, and would not recommend them to anyone else. read more
