Warning: Do Not Trust This Repair Shop!…read more Yesterday, our 2009 Toyota Camry would not start and several warning lights were on. We brought the car in for inspection and repair. The shop told us that the alternator and fan belt needed to be replaced. They also said the battery was still at 65% and was fine (just needed charging or not replaced). We agreed to replace only the alternator and fan belt for now, and they charged us $1,400. Today we picked up the car -- and the warning lights were STILL on. We immediately drove it back and asked them to check it again. This time, they told us another part needed to be replaced and it would cost another $1,400. We decided not to move forward with more repairs at this time. Then they told us the battery was dead and had to jump-start the car for us to drive away -- even though yesterday they said the battery was fine. This whole experience feels dishonest and unprofessional. We paid $1,400 and the original problem was not even fixed. Now they are asking for another $1,400 and suddenly the battery is "dead." This is unacceptable. I would not recommend this repair shop.

Asked them to check on the road noise that I've been hearing lately; thought it was the tires. They stated it was from my rear wheel bearings; surprise. Had to think about it a bit, since a lot of auto repair shops try to upsell work that aren't necessary. My car was 90,000 miles so it made sense the bearings would be going bad. Had them replace the wheel bearings and the road noise disappeared. Great work and fair pricing! Tech1 Automotive is my go to auto shop from now on.

Tire Kingdom looked at it and said they don't want to touch it and there's nothing they can do to fix it as it's Jiffy Lube's responsibility. So now I'm sitting here with a car that is not operable and both shops don't know how to fix it, however, both said I should go to Japanese Auto Care to get it fixed. I came to Japanese Auto Care early Monday morning, fully expecting them to tell me to take it to a Mazda dealership or that they would be too busy to take me. To my pleasant surprise, that was not the case at all. Jimmy immediately said he would be able to get it taken care of and get me up and running same day. Jimmy called around to make sure that someone was able to provide the studs that were specific to my car, and kept me updated along the way. More importantly, while I sat there waiting for my car to be done (in a very clean and comfortable waiting room might I add), lots and lots of people filtered in and out, either picking up or dropping off, speaking to Jimmy as if they were family, considering they have been coming here for so long. Jimmy answered every single phone call that came through no matter how busy he was, and had such a kind and professional demeanor with each individual person he spoke to. Within a few hours I was finally headed home, thanks to Jimmy and team. They were able to do what other "popular" and corporate auto body shops couldn't. I know one thing that I have struggled with for the 11 years I've had my car, is finding a trustworthy, dependable mechanic, and I think I have finally found the one.

Jimmy took care of what needed fixing and the car has been running smoothly, like new, ever since. I spoke with Raymond and he took the time to listen to my worries and then explained everything to me without any rush. He helped me out with getting a great towing service because my cars radiator and hoses died so the car was undriveable. He quoted me a price about 2-2.5x's cheaper than the dealership I was going to get work from. I also used that dealership about a week prior when they did diagnostics on it (before the radiator blew) because my car was shaking. So the dealership charged me an arm an a leg and the car still shook, then they tried to have me come back to fix other "potential" issues. Thanks to Raymond and his team, they did their own diagnostics and found that the wheels weren't balanced which the dealership said they had done. Raymond also documented the issue so I can bring it to the dealership as proof and reimbursement. From the point of view of honesty, I told Raymond all the issues the dealership said I had with the car and MFK Auto could have charged me a ton or made up things that weren't an issue. Instead they told me what was going on as well as the wheels weren't balanced, they corrected the issue at a minor cost without coming up with other issues that I never had. The estimate was beyond fair and the owner was thoughtful and kind. My mother had just passed, so my ability to find time to bring my car in was limited. He graciously accommodated me and had me out of the garage in an hour. As other reviewers online have noted, the waiting room is immaculate and they offer snacks and WiFi while you wait. When he was finished, he recommended an additional service that wasn't needed imminently, but one to keep in mind for the not-so-distant future given the mileage on my car.
