I attended boca beauty academy for a master esthetician program. It honestly was my happy place. I loved my teacher Miss Maria, always willing to help whenever I needed but also felt like a mom whenever we needed it as well. I love the "drama free" She was always understanding and really pushed me to get better. I will really miss her a lot! I need to thank Mr Robert, the director for guiding me as well and always being understanding of my situation ( I am a mom of two). Always encouraging, never pushy. I have read the negative reviews regarding the hours and payments. Thankfully it has never happened to me. They actually helped me regarding my hours. I don't think it is fair to expect them to hand us everything on a platter. I got my money worth and I am absolutely happy to have chosen boca beauty! Their teachers are amazing! Miss Ayden (the make up teacher) is a gem as well. Full of knowledge and very caring. She knows her stuff! So in conclusion, I would absolutely recommend boca beauty! RUN, GET AWAY WHILE YOU CAN. They will GLADLY take your money and NEVER give you the experience you paid for. Also can't keep a teacher to save their life (Boca campus) The skin teacher is always replaced with a sub because she has to fill in for the cosmo or other course teachers due to them quitting or being fired, so the ones in the actual esthetician program are left without an instructor. The Boca campus is a complete JOKE they care more about their image than the integrity of their school. It's sad to see so much money go towards the funding of their lifestyle rather than the benefit of students. We were only allowed to use 2 wax strips per waxing session because the school refused to buy/provide more. The student "desk" are outdated. The towels in the Nail course have dry acrylic on them so they're hard and rough and haven't been replaced in YEARS. So are the towels for skin, they're torn up. The desk also have old dried up substances, only God knows what they are. Most of the equipment has not been updated. And God forbid a teacher cares enough to bring in her OWN salon supplies so the students get a better experience. NOPE, my teacher got in trouble for bringing in supplies. The director or whoever is in charge much rather make decisions based on emotion than what's best for student learning. Also witnessed my teacher get attacked by a student which was already sad within itself but the director was more concerned about saving the schools image rather than helping when authorities arrived. Didn't even see her check on my teacher (she may have after the fact but it wasn't her priority for sure) If you're looking to just get a degree without the learning then I'd say go for it. But the experience will most likely not be worth your money unless you get a teacher who genuinely cares (they typically quit or get fired when they try speaking up). You can definitely get a better experience for the same price elsewhere. Cosmo tends to have a bit of a better experience just bc I'm sure the funding is different so the school invest in them more but every program should have an equal opportunity especially giving the fact it's not cheap. However, I heard the Parkland campus isn't so bad. Also received NO help throughout my graduation process I didn't know I was graduating until the day of and they do NOT help you obtain your license or job placement. U literally leave and just never comeback, the most help I received was an email with the link for my license. By far the most DISGUSTING staff and school I have ever came across in the beauty industry. The school is just sorry overall and most people will not enjoy their experience attending here. The Parkland location is well structured with the Dean Ms. Lupe who tries her best help students achieve their goals. She tries to be fair to all students and staff. They have a healthy balanced student population. I cannot say the same for the Boca Raton location. It is my opinion that you'd have a better overall experience attending Parkland. read more

That lady, Leti runs a tight SINKING ship. At the skin portion of the school, we're learning old school methods that we'll never see when we leave this place and work at a professional med spa/derm office. LASER DAY comes once in a blue moon and you're one of the lucky ones if you get a chance to use it. The make "time slots" for everyone to get a chance to use it for 30 mins. This place is beyond disrepair. If you can get over the mold, the bare minimum of products in stock, filthy old furniture and the filthy dated salon that uses ripped towels, then I hope you can get passed the Manager Letty's horrible attitude. I'm a regular customer and I have watched countless times how she talks to the students, teachers and customers. She point blankly screams in paying clients faces and talks down to faculty and students. They can't keep good teachers here as there's always new teachers. UPDATE: they add more time than missed on time sheets and charge you in the end. how do you go to nail school and never learn how to do acyrlics? the state papers are forged, technicals and time sheets are not properly recorded. they dont follow law regulations. i've had stuff stolen out of my nail kit during night classes. like the other girls are like that too. pick another school. i wish i could leave. they act like they lost my file with all my test records/results and technicals... the day i brought up the test..... no one could see me after that. please save yourself and go elsewhere. overpriced and they do not work with the students. this is the worst experience i've ever had in a school setting. the staff gives dirty looks, does not answer questions honestly, and will push you around about simple questions that have to do with the completion of the program itself and then give you the option to quit. the issue was the textbook and the test answers did not match, the school made it all about a disability. my grades are fine, just wanted someone to see what i was saying. maybe open the book and compare it to the test type thing, discuss the answer. this was happening on a few tests. they pushed me around about disability and in the end it resulted in the director giving me the option to quit. the teachers are disrespectful to students. and in result so is the entire staff. this needs evaluation by some board of education. most of the girls failed some tests because of this and, well, i could've actually learned the correct information and gotten a better grade in the end. (which may sound stuck up to the school, but what the heck, beauty school skimps on health and disease studies?????) i'm being encouraged to quit and i know it's going to put me in debt. this place is horrible. for weeks this has been going on. the way they handle this is the problem. straight to disability instead of going over the question(s) on multiple tests. i wish i never signed. no one cared to actually listen. they just talk over you or send you in circles. so they're creating the disability and simultaneously telling you, you might benefit from mental health doctor after they provoked a situation. i asked a question about the test answers not matching the book or study guide... they didn't care... they didn't care to ask if you had any disability walking in, but that was their push and pull in the end. i actually have physical health problem, heart problem since birth/nerve issue. this situation they have put me in result causes more turmoil. i was always willing to work with the school to mediate this issue. i wish i never signed up for boca beauty academy. read more

This place has a great environment. Very inspiring and progressive to see what the students are learning and mastering. I went in for make up artistry and was extremely happy with the results. My family was planning a photo shoot so the educators and students for myself and my two daughters gave us a natural elegant look that is timeless. My goal was to not have an overly trendy look for oumake up so when we look at our photos years from now you can focus on us and not our hair or make up. Thank you everyone at Boca Beauty Academy for taking great care of us. For Halloween I went in a second time and had Miriam do my make up. She is so wonderful and creative, such an eye for detail. I wanted to sign up for the esthetician course, before I ever filled out any documents or paperwork, David Harper took my $100 deposit. I had to follow up multiple times for the actual application. They quickly got me in touch with Mario so I could work out financing, again, before having ever filled out the application. 2 weeks or so before class starts I had to reach out to get financing in order as well as FILL OUT THE APPLICATION... There was a sudden death in the family that prevented me from attending, and notice was sent to DAVID HARPER, via email.. he sent his condolences which was the only professional part of my whole experience. Class was to begin in August 3rd.. on AUGUST 31st, my first payment was withdrawn from my account. I SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN CHARGED.. I withdrew and this charge is now 3 weeks after the first class began. I emailed right away to request the refund, after multiple (over 10) emails .. no one responds or reaches out to offer any explanation or help. I contacted the finance company to see if they can assist but unfortunately this lands on the school to notify them that I did not attend. I called multiple times, a few times DAVID HARPER hung up on me explaining he does not handle this. When I finally get transferred to Mario in finance, he gives a BS explanation that he does not handle the refunds and it is a process. I am sorry but it's been almost a month since the initial charge, not including the 3 weeks prior that they had to cancel my payment ever even being taken. I have since sent multiple emails to Mario .. of which there has been no response. UNPROFESSIONAL & UNETHICAL.. they are thieves! DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL!! It is unsafe, unsanitary and they don't teach you anything. They're just trying to take as much money from people as they can. The health department has been close to shutting them down so to bathrooms not working, no a/c, rats, equipment is electrocuting patients, etc. curriculum is not directed to help you pass the board at all. They don't keep track of the hours correctly, but are more than happy to charge you for ever hour you've missed whether you actually have missed the class or not. I was going to walk out with my hair wet after 30 mins of sitting there looking at the lady doing my hair look clue less. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Ms. Beth is the skin care teacher and I give her 1000000 stars for being such a great teacher. I was sold on the program being 9-3pm, holidays off (so false as they made us attend alllll of winter break and every other holiday but 1 for Presidents' Day), an hour lunch & as soon as I got into the program, they changed it to a 20 minute lunch so you basically have to inhale your food after waiting a line to heat up your food. I passed every exam with a 90 or above, even my practical was 100% performed perfectly. I will not be receiving my license bc they will not allow me to only leave with just a skin care license, they want me to do another program I have no interest in. Mind you I gave the program a try for a week after practically begging weeks before if I can just do the skin care program. we are suppose to clock in as if it were a job, so they are taking your time away to talk about electrolysis (or rather make you highlight everything) & then talk about irrelevant stories 85% of the time instead of learning or practicing with lasers. They are out for your money, and do not listen their students whatsoever regarding lunch time, hours, and anything else because then they will bring you into the office to speak to you about their "new policies" that only benefit them and their profit. please run away, and look into another program with minimum hours, get ur license, pass your exams, & start you career. read more

I unfortunately gave this place a second chance and got a pretty big chop today. Cutting off 4 inches. A while receiving my haircut by one of the lovely students, the very rude teacher Mara Amundarain came over to even out my hair after the chop. pushing the student away, she grabbed my head and started to what I thought was just evening out my hair. Come to find out immediately after she cut a solid half inch off of my length. I came in wanting a Bob. We had talked about shrinkage and how short we should cut it so it would stay at jaw length. The teacher went ahead and cut it at the length we talked about it shrinking up to after drying. Meaning my hair was already going to be at least half an inch shorter than preferred. my other stylist noticed when I was getting my hair fixed was how long my left side was compared to my right side after the teacher supposedly fixed my hair. I was going to let the length slide because it happens. This is also school so I'm not going to the Best cut. What I was not expecting was a teacher that according to the president of the school has been working there for over 20 years to be the one to fuck up my hair. The teacher ended my appointment after getting into an argument after me after countless times of explaining how I do not want my bags cut. I would have never complained if she didn't treat me and her student with such disrespect. I cannot fathom how when I presented this to the president. She hid behind her student and had her student speak for her. I'm sorry, Mara my complaint was directed towards you not your student. Don't have your student apologize for your own actions. In hopes of this, not happening to any other students I made a formal complaint. I'm happy to report. I have been overall very happy with the cosmetology program. My instructors were excellent. Ms Regina, the first level instructor, is amazing and creates such a great environment for someone new to the field. MJ, the senior level instructor, is a good teacher and incredibly supportive for all her students in the salon. I am about to graduate and I'm really happy I chose this program. My experience in the salon has prepared me to work in the beauty industry, I've gained a lot of experience working with clients. The nice thing is that about 95% of the clients are regulars, they are there once a week for a blowout or every 3-4 weeks for root touchups, they understand that part of the good price is that students perform these services and they are usually very nice. *This is about the Parkland location* Honestly, if you come to an Academy/School for service, then you should already know what you're getting. It's not going to be the same level as the professionals because they're students. It's honorable seeing them learn and practice with you, and if that's acceptable to you then you roll with it. I got a mani/pedi here and it was okay. Not great, not bad....just okay. I can't complain about the student, he did a great job communicating, informing me of the steps and checking if I was satisfied. But it just looked "okay" and because of that, I wouldn't return. Also, it's really "no-frills" here, I'm talking about the service area, the pedi chair, the foot bucket. It's an Academy so this is understandable, but if you're preference is for more style and comfort when you're getting pampered, then this can be a deterrent. read more

I headed to Boca Beauty Academy for a deep tissue massage, mini-facial, manicure and pedicure. All in all, it was ok service for a super cheap price. I'll break it down: Massage- My masseuse was quiet, calming and professional; everything I'm looking for when I want to relax. She made sure to ask how the pressure was and if I preferred oil or lotion. Soft music was playing in the background and I completely forgot I was at a training academy! So A+ for getting a spa quality massage. *You must bring your own sheets (2) and a pillowcase for the massage, or it's an extra $5* Mini Facial- Again, the woman who did my facial was very friendly and professional. I have only had a handful of facials before so this didn't seem fabulous to me (kind of just put cold cream on, wipe it off, put more cream on, wipe it off, etc.) but she did put cooling pads on my eyes which was nice and a hot towel to open up my pores. Everyone was right next to each other so it was a bit comical to see everyone laying there but the table was comfortable and my skin felt nice when it was finished. Manicure/Pedicure- This was by far the worst part of my experience. I had high hopes when I went in since the massage and facial had been great. The girl doing my mani/pedi literally grumbled at me the entire time and yelled "gimme the other foot!" each time she wanted me to switch. You soak your feet in a bucket lined with a garbage bag so compared to the other services, this felt a little strange to me. Environment and attitude aside, my nails turned out horrendous. Uneven shaping, jagged pieces and worst of all, super sloppy polish application! She didn't even wipe off the brush each time she did a nail so huge globs of polish spread all over my nail and finger. She attempted to use polish remover afterwards to clean it up but since it was a dark red I walked out looking like a 4 year old who got into their Mom's polish collection. I can do a better job myself. The end result is that I will definitely be back for another massage and might even consider their hair styling. I would never recommend anyone to get their nails done there, as the other women I saw also walked out with very messy looking nails. read more

If I could give them less than one star, I would. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! I just have to call it a loss for myself. But a $3,000 loss, is no joke. Where do I even start?? I went to BBA for the permanent makeup course. I have been involved in the tattoo industry for 6 years now and am involved in 2 custom shops in the Tampa Bay area. So I would say I'm very educated in the tattoo world. So did I learn anything new or anything at all for that matter during my 3 days at BBA? The answer would be no, absolutely not. I learned more in the hour I spent with an actually tattooer after I got home from Boca. They were in shock when I told them how the 3 days of "education" had gone. From unsanitary conditions to unsupervised tattooing. I mean I knew more then anyone else in that room (in regards to tattooing) and I didn't feel comfortable. Yet there were poor woman laying on these tables having their faces permanently ruined because no one was teaching proper technique. I understand they signed up knowing we were students who were practicing, but we should have been walked through the process, step by step. I feel awful for the woman who were tattooed. So not only did I literally throw away $3k (course costs, hotel, missing work etc) the equipment we were given is garbage. You cannot tattoo quality work with it. I graduated from this course in May. It is now October 3 and I leave October 9th for a tattoo convention. There's a problem tho.. I STILL have not received ANY of my certificates or paperwork from this program!!! They have EVERY excuse in the book too. I need these papers in order to tattoo legally, but yet they are making me jump through hoops for them. As if $2,650 for absolutely no education wasn't enough, now they need my transcripts from high school in hand and my first born child. Prior to this program I have graduated from a Massage Therapy program as well as a Paramedical Aesthetician program. Both accredited medical schools. Both of which I did not need to go through nearly as many hoops to receive something I earned and paid for. To top it all off, guess what?? Also I forgot to mention in my previous review when I was attending this school that the air conditioner was out for almost a month and they hadn't gotten it fixed until several students complained that they would sue. ( summer with 90°+ weather with no air conditioning) . As you can see in the pics (at the time ) not speaking now because I haven't been there since I've graduated ... there was a teachers desk and then they removed it and gave the teacher a podium... Also rolling chairs and more chairs crammed in.. highly unprofessional and not worth the price of the school from a students perspective. read more

My wife enrolled to Boca Beauty earlier this year. Due to unforeseen circumstances she had to leave the school before completing the program. Although Boca Beauty had a very strict cancellation policy they were very understanding and removed the fees due to my wife's circumstances. It's not every day you come across a company willing to do this. The management at Boca Beauty are class acts and I would not hesitate to recommend anyone to this school. As a student attending this school, there are many positives and negatives in the learning environment. The classes are very fast pace, testing mondays and fridays. Reading all the reviews has made me realize that you can't just attend this school and expect to be a professional by the end of it, you have to work hard to absorb all the information given. It's an individuals choice whether they use the content given to help the client instead of just taking their money. BBA can teach you a lot, but it's what you use the information to do that determines your worth as a professional. The only negative thing I have to say about this school is the amount of skin care technology they have, with the amount of students in these classes, they need more than 2 hydro facial machines (one of which is broken) for each student to complete 60 of those services. I feel like we are always competing with each other to get our services done, I'm friends with all of these girls and don't want to have to compete with them to complete my education! read more

If I could give this school zero stars I would I took the paramedical esthetician course and I was so excited to start something I would genuinely love doing. The boca beauty curriculum is BS it does not prepare you for the State board exam which they also don't tell you that you have to pay for your exam and licenses and it's NOT included in your tuition. The administration is the worst you get different answers from everyone and they don't respond in a timely manner. This was the most unprofessional school/ "business" I've ever experience I would never recommend this school to anyone. They don't care about the teachers my teacher quit and they hire a lady that NEVER taught before. If Ms.Stacey from the parkland location never came to the Boca campus I truly believe I wouldn't have passed the state board exam. They are sending me to collections with an attorney because I am not making a payment this month since the corona virus no one is able to work and they should understand that ! I can't pay if I'm not getting money No one can ! I have been paying them every single month and because of the pandemic they are sending me to collections with an attorney . Not to mention that that they don't have a way to sign in anywhere and keep track of the payments you made ..so I received different amount that I owe , first they say I owe 1,579$ then 5 months later they say I owe 5,330$ ...would not recommend go to palm beach state instead and save yourself a headache ! Kim went beyond what I expected and was patient in explaining the enroll process and my options. She is amazing! I'm from central Florida but Ive lived in South Florida for more than 25 years and the customer service here sucks! I am so appreciative to have come across Kim. So lets just start off by the only reason why this place is gettting UNO star is because Ms. Dana is golden. Best skin care teacher out there. Besides that, this place is actually insane. I enjoyed about 2 days of that place and afterwards it was just irritating every single day. The administration is unprofessional and careless. I've gotten numerous calls regarding a payment (which keep in mind i have graduated already and received my license) i was getting letters in the mail & phone calls almost every other day. I went in and got told that the "upstairs" boca beauty administrators "usually" always mess up with that and that im all clear. There's a lot of wrong things going on at this school and its really unfortunate because a lot of us paid a huge amount for our education and for a career. Change up your ways, or close down. DONT GO TO THIS SCHOOL. If your a mother, and you work it's not going to a walk in the park! They don't work with you at all, and don't allow part time, and any hours you don't finish, they will make you pay $10 an hour to complete your hours. I was pressured into dropping from the program because of my attendance ( Staff texting me and harassing me while I'm at work) and then sooner or later I was receiving emails and calls from a debt collector. I HAVE NO DEBT WITH THIS SCHOOL!! I paid over $1,000 a month for 7 months straight so that I would not owe this school!!!!! I worked very hard for that and I didn't do any loans so why would I owe them?? "Because FASFA approved me for a little under 2 grand towards my tuition" money that went STRAIGHT to my tuition, the fucking school!!! Not my pocket money like any other REAL state college that GIVES you that money to spend however. I didn't get shit I've only given to this school. Save your money go to your local state college they actually care about the students not money!!! These technical schools only want MONEY!!!! read more
