I was very excited to have gotten second row seats!! Because of this, I had assumed I'd be in the second row. Nope. There were three rows in front of the orchestra section, making me 5th row. It was a good view still, but it wasn't what I paid for. Unrelated- Russell Howard is hilarious!

Finally got to visit a few more places in Boston. I saw the Urban Nutcracker while visiting. Parking was super easy, validate your tix for a flat 5hrs for $10. This reminded of my time in Europe, parking was set up the same. This was truly a nice experience, the theater was kinda of old, but served the purpose, seats very narrow. Theater was clean and staff helpful with seating and bathrooms. The wait time to enter the show was easy and prompt. Traffic was not bad at all for December. The Urban Nutcracker was wonder, I will be sure to plan another musical in Boson, check website for deets. I truly enjoyed my time in Boston!!

I came to the theatre with my Yelp group to see the show Champions of Magic Opening Night. Please see my review for the show on this page here, https://www.yelp.com/biz/champions-of-magic-boston?hrid=dR3GI0HksB6xdDCapAF0yA&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct) Here is my review for the actual theater, not the show. When you pick up tickets from will call, they will ask for a photo ID. I picked up my tickets way early, so I left briefly and came back shortly before 7:30 PM. The security style is Disneyland park style. You take off your bag, place it on the desk, and then walk through the full body scanner. Security here is tight. I have to say, this is the first time that I have set off a body scanner alarm because I had my cell phone in my pocket. I was finishing an outside beverage in hand and literally had 5 sips left in the bottle. The ushers were probably paid really well here because they did their job well and made sure I dare not to bring my drink inside the theater. I finished my sips standing by the lobby concession stand, and the ushers made sure I discarded my outside drink. That was my second first, never been watched so closely entering a theater. The theater is beautiful on the inside. It is true that there is pretty much no leg room. I didn't fully understand the setup at the orchestra. There were seats (starting with Row A) but also removable chairs (before Row A) up front during my show. I think this might be a temporary set up just for this show? The bathroom is downstairs. They have many stalls but don't smell good. They have dispensable soap and paper towels. Cold water only, no warm water from the faucet. Overall, enjoyed the show here. The theater itself is A-Okay.

Across the street from the impressive Wang Theater sits the more modest Shubert Theatre. The box office opened 2 hours prior to show time, so I stopped by earlier to pick up my tickets by showing them my ID. We were at the Shubert for The Magic of Adam Trent of The Illusionists fame. Even from our seats up on the Mezzanine level, our view was quite good, although the screen illusions were more angled for those seated in Orchestra. The ladies room on the Mezzanine level had 4 stalls, and advertised an app which allowed ordering drinks in advance. A cool treat for this show was that Adam Trent made himself available in the lobby after the show to meet his fans and to pose for photo ops! *** 9/2018 *** We may have been off to the side in our Orchestra Left seats, but we were still up pretty close with a nice view. Sure, it started late 20 minutes with zero explanation, but the five illusionists of Champions of Magic put on a great show! The players: Sam Strange and Richard Young make up the team Young & Strange Alex McAleer - mind reader Kayla Drescher - Close-Up Magician Fernando Velasco - Visual Magic Expert and Escape Artist The photo op afterwards with the performers was a nice touch. Thanks!

We attended Rent on 10/12 at the Shubert Theatre. As regular theater goers, we frequent both Boston and Providence, I try to get excellent seats for each performance. I was totally appalled when the 4 members of my party were seated in P1ORCH RIGHT seats. There was a speaker stand - floor to ceiling and 4 feet wide directly in front of my party. This blocked 1/4 of the performance. (Others around us had the same blocked view.)We paid $98 plus fees per seat to look at speakers! I have tried calling but only get a number to buy tickets. I emailed an address that said "for a quicker response use this email address." No response. I would love to know why these seats are sold at full price when you will miss a great portion of the performance. There is no "obstructed view warning" when buying the tickets. The show (from what I could see of it) was great. The music terrific!

I love thee Shubert Theater because it's so intimate. There isn't a bad seat in the house. The seats are also relatively comfortable and the Victorian styled theater is a vision in itself. A bit of Boston history, they filmed a TV pilot for ABC, a period piece called "Gilded Lillies," in this theater. Most recently, I attended the HBO documentary film premiere of "Marathon: the Patriots Day bombing" here with my "Boylston Street Family" of survivors. The only thing I found Difficult about the theater was the uneven flooring to get to and from your seats. It isn't a single, smooth elevation. It goes up multiple times, at sharp angles. So, be warned... Especially if you had a couple of glasses of wine before the show, haha. THE DEAL: Stop for a drink across the street before the show. There is no alcohol served in the theater.

The second half involves audience participation, but it's not mandatory if you're more on the shy side. The actors were incredible and very funny. With around 80-100 seats, the show was pretty intimate and fun. I love how their performers were able to adjust to and roll with each audience's feedback...and many times, returned with even funnier responses. It does take a talented crew to be able to work together and do a bit of improv to keep the audiences highly engaged and I definitely thought the team of performers I saw did such a fantastic job that night. I honestly went in without much expectations but definitely came out really happy that I got to see thus show. Many audiences felt the same as well. P.S. restrooms are underground and behind the stage...so you may not be able to get in there until they start letting the audiences in. Also, they have a bar downstairs so you can enjoy your show with your fav drinks, too.

Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit could perform in a bathroom and it would be stellar, but both of their shows this past Friday and Saturday night were phenomenal! The Wang turned out to be a great venue. It is a beautiful historic theatre, but entry (including security) was easy and stress free. The band sounded amazing! We expected a "seated" audience, but as soon as the band took the stage, the entire audience remained on their feet swaying and enjoying the music and vibes. While I enjoyed this environment, I can see that elderly attendees, shorter patrons, or those with difficulty standing for 2+ hours might have been disappointed. No awful parking issues like Gillette or the Xfinity Center, better views than TD Garden...I'd love to see more rock concerts at the Wang!

I think this would be a lovely architecture tour if we didn't have the event lights and noise of a DJ at the site. We visited an event here (not the theater part) where they had a Music America exhibit downstairs, and servers and music up in the main lobby. Very loud space and could use some more seating for the event, but was a fun gathering for ISDA hosted by LSEG. Cool venue, contains both the Wang and Shubert Theatres. An extraordinary gift in 1983 from Dr. An Wang, founder of Wang Laboratories, ushered in the era of The Wang Center for the Performing Arts and lead to a total of around $10mm in donations to help restore the theater in the 1980s.

Came here on opening day with the Yelp Squad. I. Was. A. Kid. In. A. Candy. Store. Everything was new. Everything was exciting. Part of it reminded me of the Once popular, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus (without the animals). There are different bands that performs, a solo operatic singer, and meanwhile, creatures walking amongst while they perform. The second night I went (the night after the first), we had VIP seating and ate in the VIP section. The food was phenomenal. There was tacos, guac, Hors d'oeuvres of sashimi, shrimp, and steak. Endless champagne, beer, and wine. Private bathrooms. A gift bag at the end of the night. Parking closest to the gate. This was the first Cirque du Soleil and it got me hooked. While comedy often involves pushing boundaries, the humor felt one-sided and dismissive of a faith that is deeply important to many people. What stood out to us was the apparent double standard. It seemed unlikely that the performers would make similarly critical jokes about certain other groups or belief systems without concern for offending the audience. As a result, the show came across less as lighthearted comedy and more as an effort to promote a particular viewpoint. We understand that not everyone shares the same beliefs, and we respect differing perspectives. However, we would have appreciated a more balanced and inclusive approach that did not single out Christianity for ridicule. Audience members who value their Christian faith may want to be aware of this aspect of the show's content before attending.
