The experience begins the moment you step in. A warm greeting and a delicious aperitif. Our server was personable and genuinely interested in providing an exceptional experience. Our server recommended the surprise dining. We had 6 or 7 courses, all Chef's choice. What a fun way to share a meal together.

So they were a little rude to me and my friends when we walked in, maybe they thought we were too poor to afford it? I personally didn't think we looked like a trashy group, but we decided to eat here anyway. We went with he waitress's recommendation of the 10-course chef's special and we did not regret it. The courses were delicious, interesting, and well presented. The razor clams, mussels and jamón iberico were my personal favorites. Had a bottle of cava to go with it, and some of the house vermouth. We also got dessert, and the cheesecake was beyond incredible. The chocolate torte with orange sorbet was good, but not as incredible as the cheesecake. The decor is for foodies. Pictures of the chefs at different stages in their lives and careers. I loved the "love of food" atmosphere. Ex post facto, I was told this restaurant was owned by the same owner of Tickets. Tickets is a restaurant I was familiar with as an Anthony Bourdain visited establishment, that requires reservations most nights (unlike Bodega 1900).

I came here for lunch and had one of the best meals of my life! Our group opted for the chef's tasting menu and dined for over two hours, eating some of the best food and enjoying their house vermouth. Everything was absolutely amazing. Make sure to make reservations here when in Barcelona! You won't regret it.

Gonna mention what countless others mention at the start of their review. Could not get reservations at Tickets for 2 different dates. So we snagged a reservation at Bodega 1900. I'm sure Tickets is a once in a lifetime opportunity, but our dinner at Bodega was pretty fantastic in its own right. We were a little late to our seating, thanks to the Taxi driver who dropped us way off the mark. But thank goodness they honored our time slot. Service was welcoming from the moment we walked in, sat down and got down to dinner. We opted for the tapas surprise menu--about 12 courses or so. I definitely had my favorites, but there really wasn't a bad one in the bunch. All very fresh and well made. I really enjoyed our meal. The bursting "Olive", sardines, razor clams, pan con tomate, jamon, potato omelet, crab, squid sandwich, the most amazing goat cheese, grilled squid, grilled tenderloin and shishito peppers, cheesecake and lemon cake. It was paced well and I felt pretty full afterward. The suggested wine was spot on. I really liked the house vermouth, which surprised me because I'm more a vodka kind of gal. Homey and fun atmosphere. It was a full house and as soon as a table emptied, another party sat. I was seated with a view into the kitchen which gave me a peek into all the action. Our server was so sweet, I can't remember her name, but it was fun interacting with her.

So, to confess, I first booked this place as a back up since I wasn't able to get into Tickets. Then I was able to get the Tickets reservations and we decided to keep the reservations at Bodgea 1900 as well. In hindsight, I should have just cancelled this restaurant reservation since we came the day after we had dinner at Tickets. In my opinion, the experience was much better at Tickets and Bodega 1900 is a sister restaurant but the atmosphere and experience was just not the same. Since we were a party of 6, we had the tasting menu again and some of the items that we had at Tickets were also presented at Bodega - the deconstructed olive was one and the monkfish. We had Antonio as our server and he was very attentive.

After hearing so much about Tickets from Phill Rosenthal and Anthony Bourdain, I was lucky to snag a table for four at Ticket's sister restaurant, Bodega 1900 at their 1pm opening time slot. The place filled up quickly. It is a true tapas experience brought up many notches. Our waiter explained the menu and hence began our culinary adventure. The famous olive- you can't have just one- surreal Ham croquettes Boquerrone Sardines Mollettes of cheese and black truffle Baby squid Fresh tomato salad Dessert A Mille Fleur type pastry with Calvados-fabulous and they only allow one order per 2 people This is definitely a must visit, and if you can go again and again, you are truly blessed.

I wanted to try a restaurant of the Adria brothers and taste the food that they're known for. Barcelona wasn't a great place for tourists because locals are very rude to you, even the cops are just upright rude. However, this place was a nice little touch of customer service and good food. Waiters don't work for tips in Barcelona so we've been getting bad service everywhere around Barcelona. That wasn't the case here. Our waitress was very polite, catering and worked with us on what to order. We weren't sure what to order, so she did the chef's choice where she just kept bringing out tapas for us to enjoy. She was very knowledgeable of everything that was served and catered to our food allergies. I wanted to try the liquified olives and I'm so glad we did, we tried two different flavors too. Not sure how they did it, but it was just delicious. Barcelona is known for their vermouth so we had to try it here, where they make their own. It wasn't my cup of tea...err, cup of vermouth but it was still pretty good and I'm glad I tried it. Of course, there were iberico jamon on the plate for options so I was thrilled to have it at Bodega 1900 where they cure it themselves (hanging in the storefront of the restaurant). The foie gras itself tasted like it was made in their backyard, everything tasted so fresh! The best part is, my girls loved eating everything and our waitress even got their own portions, which was nice. They had fresh squeezed orange juice refilled for them and was a great part of our meal. They were just oogled over and treated like adults as far as customer service went. It was all great until we got the bill. It was the most expensive tapas I've ever had, over $200 (they charged in euros). I wished the waitress asked us what type of bill we're looking to pay, because that was pretty pricey. I paid it and even tipped a bit because the service was wonderful. However, I removed a star because of that issue with the bill. Everyone has a price range of what they're looking to pay, they should have asked that instead of adding to our bill like that. I'm glad i tried this place out because we were told that a lot of the foods are cooked at Tickets as well, without us needing the months in advanced reservations.

I booked Bodega 1900 for my husband's birthday exactly two months out. We arrived to Barcelona on the same day of the reservation, and we were exhausted after a long day of travel drama. So the fact that Bodega 1900 ended up being one of the best meals of our lives more than made up for our crazy day. I didn't feel confident enough that I would enjoy a tasting menu, so we opted to choose our own plates. We ordered: the olives, patatas bravas (a special), small grilled clams (coquinas), roasted red peppers with tuna, tomato salad, housemade feta, Iberican ham, cured beef tenderloin, and pickled quail thighs. On paper, none of these dishes really jump out but, in person, each and every one was so special. The small grilled clams were unlike anything I had tried before - they were the most tender little clams served in their shells and tossed in a slightly spicy butter. I was a bit dubious about my husband's choice of pickled quail thighs, but they were absolutely incredible. They were served in a hearty broth with veggies, and the taste was simply out of this world. We enjoyed our meal with a bottle of rosé, but the restaurant is known for their vermouth as well. We finished the meal with an inventive lemon cake and delicious flan. When I think about this meal and describe it to my friends and family, I get dreamy eyed. I look forward to returning one day when I visit Spain again!

We were so excited about Bodega 1900. We were deciding between a list of restaurants in Barcelona and Bodega 1900 with its stellar reviews and beautiful foods stood out. So we made reservations and eagerly awaited our visit. When we arrived, we were seated in the front next to a chef delicately slicing some iberico jamon. They brought us sparkling water, their fabulous vermouth, and a glass of cava. The drinks were great. Perusing the menu we got more excited - practically salivating with anticipation. When our waitress came back she insisted that since it was our first time, her strong recommendation would be for us to do a chefs menu and they would create a meal for us. Sure, sounds great! Let's go: "Olives" - perhaps we're jaded diners but yes, they're nice. Perhaps overdone because we've had this before. But yes, these olives are fine. Sardines in a bed of olive oil - nice light flavor. Coated in olive oil. Shrimp - nine (9) tiny boiled shrimp with a sprinkling of cracked salt. Would have been essentially flavorless without the salt. We were not fans of this. Razor clams - this was nice. A little sharp and acidic chew as you tossed it back. Cod with tomato paste and olive oil - no idea what the chef was thinking with this dish. The tomato paste had a subtle nice flavor but the cod was utterly flavorless and the whole dish was drenched in the olive oil. Not pleasant. Not tasty. I wanted to like it but did not like it at all. And it left a bad taste in our mouths. Baby octopus on a bed of tomato sauce - whereas the previous couple of dishes needed more seasoning, this was too salty. The first bite was a relief of seasoning. But the second bite was chewing an octopus salt lick. A tomatoey octopus salt lick with a bitter after taste. Quail - we did not agree on this one. I thought the flavors were decent, he thought it was all too vinegary. But I do like a little vinegar flavor. This reminded me of my parents chicken dinner they cook with beer or wine but not as tasty. The flavors here were similar but not as complex (my parents are not professional chefs...) and the quail was more than a tad dry. Tomato bread/tomato salad/cured beef - this was nice. The tomato bread was good. The tomatoes in the tomato salad were fresh, ripe, and juicy. And also covered in olive oil which it did not need. It could have been enhanced with just a touch of salt and pepper but still - nice tomatoes. And the cured beef, while not iberico ham, was surprising and tasty. It was leaner and had a smokey flavor. Lobster with bearnaise cream - why? It was not nice. It did not look nice and it did not taste nice. It was gross. Thank goodness it was just a tiny lobster. Did they just want to throw bearnaise on the menu? I don't understand. We didn't like it. We don't think anyone would like it. Dessert - throughout the meal we had a very smiley friendly waiter occasionally dropping off some of our plates. He recommended the "flan" for dessert so we got that. It was fantastic. Custardy and delicious. Then we asked for the check. We got the check 20 minutes later after we asked for it two more times. Our total for the tapas, two bottle of water, and three drinks came out to about 120 euros which is pretty darn reasonable for a nice meal but still sucks since the nice meal overall was not very nice. At the end of our meal our waitress asked how it was and we politely said it was nice (but it also feels rude to say it was terrible) and asked her what her favorites are. She then proceeded to tell us about her four or five favorites. It is notable to mention that we did not get any of her favorites. Our meal was all acid and olive oil. Her favorites did not seem to contain those items. We both went back to the hotel with upset tummies and our mouths coated still in the vaguely bitter and mineraly/metallic aftertaste of so much acid and olive oil. I got a little sick later that night vomiting back up the same tomatoes and olive oil. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. I would not come back. I would not recommend this. But if you do decide to come - get the vermouth; don't get the chefs selection.

With 3 nights in Barcelona we wanted to make sure we made the most of our food endeavors. After much research "Ticket" was on the top of the list . Unfortunately it's so popular secondary to owners and chef Ferran & Albert Adria's Michelin-Star that reservations have to be made way in advance for a weekend time slot. Luckily they are also the owners of Bodega 1900. The meal at Bodega 1900 was so phenomenal I can't imagine Ticket being that much better. Setting : A small appealing restaurant front leads into a homey basement type setting; the feel of sitting in your grandparents basement kitchen. There are views of the chefs and staff at work. Nothing is hidden. Staff: Our waitress was attentive enough and helpful with our options. Food: simplistic yet creatively crafted tapas perfected . Although I recommend everything, my top choices from our meal was the mussels and the prawns . A bonus is that they make in house Vermouth. Of course I had to try it although I'm more of a beer guy. I had two glasses . Lol that should say it all! The most disappointing thing was after experiencing other " highly rated "tapas restaurants we wished we had went to Bodega 1900 every night. Unfortunately they were closed the last night we we there If you don't stop here during your trip you're an idiot .

Last night in Barcelona. We couldn't get into Tickets but we were lucky enough to get into Bodega 1900. We walked in around 7ish and were told they can fit us in as long as we can finish up by 9:15. We were like oh that's plenty of time... ha! they haven't seen my man eat, he inhales his food. We went ahead and got the surprise menu. I won't write about each item, just check out the pictures, they are placed in order of how the food was served and know that everything was amazing. HREAT CHOICES. GOOD FOOD. EXCELLENT SERVICE. Hubby and I were so glad we got to try it out. It was a great experience. It's definitely a five star place. The service, the ambiance, the food were all amazing and worth it.

Oh yeah!!! We couldn't get into Tickets so we came here and it was fantastic. Get the house vermouth, it was so legit. We got the surprise meal, 12 courses of tapas that take you here, take you there, and all end up at delicious. I have never been moved by a meatball in my life until tonight. Lobster bisque in a lobster tail? Ok, lets do it!!! You will absolutely love it here. Great service, food, drink and classy. We were here for 2 hours eating and drinking the best around.

We were excited to finally dine at Bodega 1900 after waiting 2 months since making the reservation. Their vermouth is absolutely worth ordering. We decided to do the Chef's special. We started with Adria's famous liquid olives. He is able to amplify the taste of olives by creating a spherical shaped bubble filled with olive juice. You place the spoonful in your mouth and press it up against your palate. And bam...what you get is something "more olive than olive," as one food critic described. We thought the star dish was quail cooked in an amazing sauce with carrots and onions. That dish reminded me of turkey on thanksgiving without the dryness and heaviness associated with it. We weren't a big fan of the mushrooms. They were infused with lemon and some kind of fish sauce. The taste was very strange. Their meatballs and homemade feta cheese is worth getting. We finished with some kind of chocolate pie with sorbet. The chocolate was sprinkled with some sea salt, which it could have used more because it off set the bitterness of the chocolate. The apricot sorbet at the end was unforgetable. It was like biting into the 10 juicest, most flavorful apricots in one bite. We spent over 2 hours for this once in a lifetime experience. I wasn't sure if the Chef's special was worth it for 70 euros per person. You definitely leave the restaurant full after eating 12 dishes. But it seemed to be very heavy on the seafood side. I think we were better off choosing food, a la carte. The Chef's special did not include drinks or dessert. The reason we rated the restaurant 3 stars because of the poor service. The server forgot our bottled still and sparkling water two times. It took her a long time to get us the check. She appeared very overwhelmed. I didn't think they were staffed adequately. The next night, we dined at Tickets Bar, which had superior service than Bogeda 1900. Kev www.adreamersholiday.com

Our first day in Barcelona and we chose Bodega 1900 for dinner well in advance. My friend recommended this place to me for dinner and it didn't disappoint! Make a reservation beforehand, maybe even a month in advance, they are a popular restaurant and will get booked. We were quickly seated by the friendly waitress who explained to us the option of picking the tasting menu. We would set a price that we were willing to spend for dinner per person and the restaurant will provide us with tapas that equals up to the price. We decided on 70 euro each which gave us a grand total of around 15 tapa dishes. This was a lot of food and you bet we were stuffed by the end of the meal! Everything was so delicious, the meat and seafood were all excellent quality. Standout tapas include the sea urchin, grilled razor clams, Russian salad, Iberian ham, tomato bread, foie gras, pork jowl sandwiches and mackerel. Overall, it was an amazing start to our stay in Barcelona and a definite food highlight. If you're willing to shell out on some cash (and why not, you're on a vacation!), I highly recommend Bodega 1900 for a great dinner experience. read more
This was our first stop in Barcelona and I was excited to try some gastronomic tapas for my first meal here. We wanted to try a bit of everything, so we went with the tasting menu. Our budget was around 50 euros and we got 16 dishes. It was definitely plentiful enough for us, but we enjoyed every bite. The seafood was fresh and everything was flavorful and balanced. They use high quality and local ingredients here. I loved how they incorporated olive oil and sea salt in most dishes. My favorites were the Spanish sea urchin, foie gras, Iberian loin, smoked mackerel, prawns, razor clams, and fried seabass. Service was great and we had such an enjoyable experience here. It set the bar high for the rest of our trip. Be sure to try the vermouth! It is so smooth and refreshing. read more
My friend recommended a bunch of Michelin-starred Albert Adrià-owned restaurants in Barcelona. I couldn't get into Tickets, but I was able to get into Bodega 1900, which I enjoyed. My BF and I had a 9:45 reservation on Valentine's Day (I don't even think the Spanish celebrate this fake Hallmark holiday). We started with some vermouth, which is one of the things they're known for. It wasn't really my cup of tea. When we were seated, we decided to go with the tasting menu, which varies from season to season, and I'm sure day to day. Our menu consisted of sardines, snails, tomato-rubbed bread with Iberian jamon (probably one of my faves of the night), mackerel, shrimp, pancetta-stuffed squid, black sausage and peas with codfish, and chicken cannelloni with foie gras and duck. I would say I really loved a few of the dishes, but the rest were kind of just fillers. For me, the best ones were the tomato-rubbed bread with Iberian jamon, shrimp, stuffed squid, and chicken cannelloni. For a Michelin-starred place, the prices were pretty reasonable - at least compared to NYC. I'm not sure I would come back if I come back to Barcelona, but that's probably because I'd want to try out some of Adrià's other restaurants. read more

My first review of the year, and it's an overdue one for Bodega. We made reservations when we couldn't get into Tickets across the street (sob). Bodega is described as Tickets' little brother, but I thought it felt pretty grown up. At any rate, we got there a little early but since the place was empty (we had reservations for the unpopular 1330 hour) we were seated immediately in the back. I wish I had spent more time examining the front of the bar as it looked really cool. Instead we enjoyed excellent service and the famous liquid olives...an intense flavor explosion in your mouth! If you like green olives and popping boba, this is probably what the offspring of those two would look and taste like. We enjoyed them so much we ordered a second round. We also had the vermouth. It was my first time and I was expecting something bitter or strong but it was neither and I surprisingly I liked it. Those were my two favorite things there. We also had the razor clams, bouchot mussels, and ham. Those were ok, nothing memorable for me. Definitely recommend if you have the time, and especially if you can't get into Tickets. read more

Unfortunately they were closed the last night we we there If you don't stop here during your trip you're an idiot . read more
Last night in Barcelona. The service, the ambiance, the food were all amazing and worth it. read more
We were here for 2 hours eating and drinking the best around. read more
Visiting Barcelona and not eating a Ferran Adria meal is like going to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and not visiting Dollywood. Like, why are you even there, bro? Given Tickets is impossible to get into without snagging a reservation a year in advance, Bodega 1900 is the default for many culinary travelers. But if every back-up plan were as good as Bodega 1900, the world would be a better place. It's a homey operation--much more so than the glitzier Tickets across the street. It feels more authentic. The service is fantastic, and of course, the food doesn't disappoint. My group went with the lunch prix-fixe, leaving our gustatory adventure in the hands of the professionals working the kitchen and front of house. I suggest you do the same unless you have dietary restrictions that prevent you from eating whatever ends up on your table. Our meal started with the famous liquid olives and ended with an incredible sweet potato sorbet. In between we had razor clams, tripe stew, mackerel with olive oil and apricot, cured meats with Marcona almonds, oysters, and so many more items that would take far too long to document here. Running the gamut from refreshing and light (oysters, mackerel) to rich and hearty (tripe stew), it covered the entire spectrum of flavors for a holistic dining experience. Their house vermouth was far more enjoyable than others I had throughout the city, so be sure to snag some of that as well. It will be pricier than most other pintxos or tapas you'll try elsewhere, but it's a bargain when you consider Ferran Adria is one of the most famous chefs on the planet. read more

Kev www.adreamersholiday.com read more

Make reservations, order a vermouth, ask for the surprise menu (tasting/chefs choice/whatever you call it) and enjoy. With every tantalizing bite, be sure to sip on your vermouth and feel the flavors balance out. It was amazing and simple. Sure there are "old ideas" but it's humbling to understand where all these ideas began with respect to old school tapas. The chefs here under the coordination of Albert Adrià execute perfectly. The dining was unpretentious and delicious. Our meal started light, fun and fresh. The courses ended savory and with meatballs. Easily one of the most memorable lunches in Barcelona. We enjoyed: *Vermouth Sardines Fresh uni Liquid olives Sea snails in sauce *Vermouth Razor clams Mackeral w/roe Fried mullet Peas w/cod and mushrooms *Vermouth Iberico & cheese sandwiches Meatballs w/papas fritas Espresso Flan de Nata Lionesa w/helado kirch $130euro. I was shocked. Priced at market price? We salute you Bodega 1900 and El Barri. read more

My Wife and me visited the Bodega 1900 with a reservation before (quite hard to get). And we took the "surprise"-menu which is whatever they have in the works on Tapas. We had about 12 or 13 corses and not a single one was disappointing. It included seafood, meat and vegetables. The staff was plenty and all over the place caring for us and also well trained and entertaining. Well the prices are surly above average but still reasonable for this price. I will for sure pay a visit the next time I'm around in Barcelona. read more

Grab a reservation as soon as you can! I found this place after looking into the Adria brothers and was wildly impressed by each dish. Beyond the predictable taste and quality of ingredients, the most impressive thing was each dish's portion sizes. It almost feels like each dish was small so that you'd slow and appreciate each bite, yet just enough that you don't get bored of any one dish/taste. We were tempted to order the same thing twice, but we're glad we didn't, because everything was special and unique. I'm not sure if the menu changes often, but my recommendations would be to try the stuffed squid, the hake roe, any of the mollettes, and definitely the jamon. I've also heard they specialize in vermouth but I didn't get to try that. The price is ridiculously affordable too: for 2 people over lunch (without alcohol), it was about 60 euros, which is a steal when you taste the amazing food. Would 100% come back! read more

Booked a reservation here two months out (like many others, I couldn't get a reservation across the street at Tickets). I actually had booked the wrong night, but after e-mailing them, they were able to give me a slot on the correct night. I definitely recommend just trusting your server AKA getting a tasting menu! They will ask you if you have any dietary restrictions, so there's really nothing to lose here. The restaurant served up the best dishes of the night and we really enjoyed how balanced and complimentary the dishes were. Between a party of 4, we had a total of 1 glass of vermouth (very tasty) and 14 dishes (9 savory and 3 sweet). The bill came out to about ~48 euros a person. With that said, my favorite dishes were the razor clams, the olives, the little prawns, the pork jowl mollette (brioche sandwiches), and the cheesecake. Honestly though, everything was good. My mind wanted to eat more but after 14 dishes, my stomach couldn't have anymore. Our two servers were so nice and funny and definitely made the dining experience more enjoyable than it already was! Get a reservation here, you won't regret it! read more
Bodega 1900 is one of Albert Adria's tapas bar/restaurant. It is a perfect blend of good food and casual dining. Their main focus is tapas and vermouth. They have their own house vermouth, which was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend getting it. The space itself is directly across from the fancier tapas restaurant Tickets. Bodega 1900 is probably easier to obtain reservations (although I booked 2 months in advance). Interiorly, it's simple and upon first glance, you're taken away by the iberico ham on display that is ready to be sliced. There are seats in the front and the outside as well as a countertop along the wall to dine. Additional tables are situated in the rear of the restaurant for those who wish to dine where the kitchen is situated. RAZOR CLAMS WITH WHITE ESCABECHE SAUCE (€14.20): This was one of the best dishes. It was super fresh, with a perfect balance of acidity and tang from the escabeche. It was succulent and cooked to perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish and highly recommend it. GORDAL AND PIPARRA OLIVA-S (€1.90 EACH UNIT). This dish is what they are known for and was a part of El Bulli. It's basically an olive that is epitome of a popping boba. The texture is like popping boba but once you put it in your mouth and push the olive up to your palate, a beautiful array of olive juice is transformed in your mouth. It is delicious. This dish is also available at Bazzar by Jose Andres in LA, but it tastes way better at Bodega 1900. BABY BEACH SQUID (€10.80). This dish was also delicious and fresh. It is cooked in a garlic butter sauce. If you like fresh calamari, this is the dish for you. It's a change from the traditional fried dish. IBERIAN HAM "EL ROMERO DE SALAMANCA" 40GR. (€15.20). So obviously, I had to get jamon iberico. I mean, I was sitting right next to the big chunk of a leg and saw the chef slice my order right in front of me. It was beautiful. The ham was delicious and fatty and just simply melted in my mouth. It is a must order. BREAD WITH TOMATO (€3.60). This is one of my favorite things. It's basically bread with tomato and olive oil. It's delicious and I always order it with the ham. OUR HOUSE VERMOUTH (€3.80). This is one of my favorite drinks. It's vermouth and it's their own. It's a perfect digestif and I highly recommend getting it. "FRICANDO" BEEF STEW WITH MUSHROOMS (€15.80). This was good but nothing special. I've had something similar to it previously. It's hearty and rich and very close to home. If you're not super adventurous or don't like seafood, this is a good dish for you. MANDARIN LIQUER TART (€7.90). This was just ok for me. It's their version of a napoleon with alcohol. It was cakey, but with alcohol. It wasn't my favorite and I much preferred something more creamy. It was brought out by the waiter and I wish I didn't get it. Poor use of my stomach space. OUR HOMEMADE CHEESECAKE OF THE BODEGA (€7.80). This was a really good cheesecake. The difference between this and the American is that the crust tends to be burnt and its creamier and lighter. It's definitely more cheesy than the norm in America. I actually prefer the Spanish version and this one didn't disappoint. It was delicious. My goal now is to attempt to make this version. MY FAVORITE DISH. HOMEMADE CREAM FLAN WITH CARAMEL (€5.90). This flan was just simply amazing. It's a cross between flan and panna cotta. It was luxurious, creamy and decadent without being overly rich. I loved every freakin bite of it and contemplated ordering another. I would seriously just come here for only this. IT IS THE BEST FLAN I EVER HAD. PERIOD. Overall, I loved Bodega 1900 and it was a perfect way to start off my trip in Barcelona. The staff were friendly and I was able to practice my Spanish with them. They do speak English as well for those who don't speak Spanish. Everything I ordered was delicious and it is a nice restaurant if you're feeling peckish and want variety. It is reasonably priced unless you're like me. I ended up over-ordering and ate every last bite. I mean, who orders three desserts just for yourself? I do! read more

Food - 4.5/5 Decor - 5/5 Price - 4/5 Service - 5/5 Highly recommended, we could not score reservations across the street at Tickets, this is absolutely a glimpse into Albert Adrià's mind. That said, vide here is very chill, great wines, just ask the server to pair whatever you ordered with something local, we went through 4 glasses from cava to tempernillio all very very good. Will revisit, did not disappoint. read more

This is Tickets' ('s?) much cuter little brother located directly across the street. If Tickets is the bad boy that you're supposed to avoid at all costs despite his charismatic charm - Bodega 1900 is the bad boy turned good man ..... that has jusssst enough experience to know better and can still rock your world. Ladies, do ya feel me? At any rate, great molecular gastronomy and part of the Adria legacy and namesake so it's very hard to go wrong. Technically a vermouth bar, but of course they serve tapas too - and of course, the infamous deconstructed olive. read more

Although not as hard to get reservations as Tickets, make sure you still reserve well in advance as the restaurant itself is small. Don't worry about what to order, just tell the server how hungry you are, what you like and don't like, and he/she will take care of the rest for you. To start, def get the vermouth. It's one of the best we've had in Spain. Everything comes out tapas style with emphasis on seafood, which is very fresh. Some of the memorable dishes were the grilled prawns, the baby octopus, and the mackerel. The absolute BEST THING EVER was the caramel flan. It was so good we ordered 2 rounds. Don't leave without getting it!!!! read more

We made a last minute decision to go to Bodega 1900 not knowing if they would be able to accommodate out party of five without a reservation. We arrived right at opening and much to our delight, we were able to be seated outside. This was my first experience tasting Vermouth and I was not disappointed! We settled on The Chef tasting menu at the servers suggestion. We started with the famous spherical olives, and that was so delicious and interesting we wanted more! The food just kept coming from the kitchen! We had so many courses I lost count. Of course a highlight was a visit from the famous Chef Albert Adrià who was working between Bodega and Tickets right across the street! I would certainly recommend you do not miss this gastronomic feast! read more

Hands down some of the best executed food I've had while in Barcelona! Service was friendly and attentive especially the server we had. She was on point with her recommendations and very attentive. To start I got the house vermouth and since I am not a big alcohol fan this was only OK to me. We got the liquid olives, razor clams, grilled prawns, bread with tomato, Iberian loin, homemade cheesecake, wagyu skirt steak, pork jowl sandwich and fried fish of the day (they had finger mullets today). Everything was just cooked so perfectly and you could taste how fresh the ingredients were which makes a huge difference. The dishes were nothing considerably fancy but just executed so perfectly. I thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes but would most likely skip the olives since I am not a huge fan but was glad I tried. The superstars of the night were the wagyu steak which was so tender and full of beefy flavor and cooked to a perfect temperature. The grilled prawns were super sweet and so succulent. The razor clams was tender and I loved the pickled flavor! Iberian loin was stellar and melt in your mouth. The pork jowl sandwich is like a pork belly sandwich but 10x better because the mustard cut through the fat, the bread and meat melted in your mouth without being too heavy and it was a perfect two bite. All the other items we ate were amazing as well but the aforementioned were truly the superstars. The razor clams and prawns were so amazing that we actually ordered a second round! Do yourself a favor and book this place in advance when you visit! It is well worth the hype and while prices may be a bit more than most other places this was top notch food and service! read more

Bodega 1900 was one of the restaurant highlights of my vacation in Barcelona. It was so nice I went twice! This is another creation of the Adrià brothers of Tickets and El Bulli fame. I opted for the tasting menu on my first visit and navigated the menu on my own on my next. I enjoyed the tasting but the fist half was more of a giant charcuterie board, I really enjoyed the 2nd half of the meal best. The manager, Angel, was our server the first night, he was great at recommendations and had a great personality. On one of the evenings a waiter picker up a guitar and started playing it for the tables. Some people come here because they can't get into Tickets, their sister restaurant across the street, in my opinion this place is equally as good, albeit a different style meal and it will not disappoint. It should be on your "must-try" list for Barcelona dining. Vermouth Cocktail - I would highly recommend getting this cocktail. they generally will offer it as it appears to be their house specialty. I never had one before and it was part of the reason I came here more than once. Fried Seaweed w/ Rice Cream - Decent starter. It is really something nice just to nibble on as you warm up for more delicious tapas. If you have had seaweed before, evening sushi, then you will like them in this chip form Pork rinds and pickles - They were fine, tasted as expected. While good, I might pass on these. Tomato Salad - The highlight was the freshness and sweetness of the tomatoes, they came lightly salted in oil topped with some peas. Natural and molecular gastronomy olives - They taste just like olives it is the texture and presentation that is the most impressive aspect. The faux olive pops in your mouth. Parmesan and tomato crackers -These crackers, as expected, tasted like fresh parmesan. A little pricey but tasted awesome. Giant olives stuffed anchovies - I'm not a huge anchovy guy but still thought they were good. The pitted olives they were delivered in were massive Sea urchin and oysters - Just a raw bar tray, great presentation and tasty if you like this type of food. Smoked tuna and mackerel - It was just some really tasted sashimi, great tasting fish. I've never had raw mackerel before and I really enjoyed it. Beef cured in salt for 3 weeks - It tasted like some great roast beef Meat pie with ribs - These great little empanadas *Smoked salmon w/ truffle honey - One of the best tasting tapas I had in all of my travels in Barcelona. The complex flavor profile was outstanding. Razor clams - I discovered I am not a big raw clam guy, but the milky broth that came with these was tasty and added some flavors I've seen in thai food Ham & cheese croquette - Common throughout the city but extremely well prepared here *Spicy Squid Mollete - Fried calamari in brioche with garlic aioli and a kimchi chipotle sauce. This was not only another highlight from the restaurant but a highlight of my trip. *Truffle Bikini - Another must try item. This is essentially a grilled cheese with black truffle and a very nice ham. If you are a truffle fan this is especially satisfying Grilled pineapple with molasses - Simple and palette cleansing dessert. Presentation was very nice Apple tart - Traditional and perfectly executed apple tart Chocolate cake - Just some chocolate mousse style cake and a chocolate ice cream. Not as inventive as other dishes but if you are a chocolate fan it definitely hits the spot read more

Such a fantastic and memorable dinner. We ate here one night and had a lucky opportunity to try Tickets the next night, and I have to say I liked the food at Bodega 1900 more. The menus are very different, with Bodega having a more straightforward menu, but every single item we tried was such an elevated version of what it was that it was simply perfect. If you can't get a reservation at Tickets, which I couldn't far in advance like most others, definitely consider the chance to try one of Albert Adria's fares by coming here. My girlfriend and I decided to pick our own items instead of the tasting menu. I totally recommend you do this - just pick a special of the day, a few things you like to eat like shrimp or wagyu steak, and pick one or two things out of your comfort zone (might as well, you're probably on vacation). I think we started out with 5-6 orders, but ended up adding more during our dinner as we realized how good everything was. By the end, it was probably more like 10 dishes, including 2 desserts! And we usually never order dessert. Here are some recommendations: start with the house vermouth, the "olives", marinated anchovies, grilled clams, squids with spicy tomato sauce, smoked eel, and wagyu skirt steak. For dessert, do try the "cheesecake" - you'll see what I mean, but wow, just really well done! read more
Bodega 1900 was definitely not worth the hype based on my experience. Our stuffed squid dish was great, but the rest of the plates weren't memorable whatsoever, except for the cockles which I actively disliked. The kitchen closes relatively early, so know that it doesn't necessarily operate on Spanish time. Bodega does, however, boast a selection of vermouth (which is a must-try in Catalunya, a region known for its vermouth, even if you don't typically love the herbaceous liquor. There is also a variety of white vermouth that is worth trying as well). However, I personally did not love the limited selection on the menu, and was disappointed by the size of the plates--they were quite tiny, and we had to supplement our dinner at another restaurant after our meal, although the bill told another story of plentiful dishes. In sum, I wasn't blown away by this food and found it to be quite expensive...the price point was definitely unwarranted for the quality and quantity of food. While the restaurant was inoffensive, I would not have dined here if I could do it again. read more

This place was a "back up" choice to Tickets but it was still a great experience. I feel bad to even say it's a back up choice. I tried to booked Tickets 3 months ago but the website was crashing on me that I was not able to book Tickets so decided to try Bodega 1900. We as many others decided to try to chef's choice which is a great compilation of the dishes they had to offer. (Warning: even though they are small dishes, you will still get full after like 10-12 dishes. Also, expect to pay the value of the experience as well. It was 112 euros and well worth it to us for two people) They started the meal with Albert Aldria's signature liquid olive. It's a molecular gastronomic liquid dream!!!! You get the most perfect taste of olive that is even better than a regular olives. Tomato salad with consumme was another one of my favorite. This place is casual and a great showcase of Albert Aldria's name. You get a bit of molecular gastronomy with great in season local ingredients. All the waiters and waitresses are super nice and welcoming. They go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. Me encanta muchisimo!!! read more
Picked this place knowing I will not be able to get into Tickets Bar, so want to give this a shot. Started with the house vermouth. 3.75 euros each, tasty! Our server was extremely attentive as we ate early at around 1pm. She recommended a few dishes to us and it really worked out. We started with the olives.... OMG they are revolutionary! It made our trip to Barcelona worthwhile. The cherry tomatoes in olive oil paired really well with the shredded ham dish - it was match make heaven. Croquetas was light, airy and delicious! Meat pie was excellent as well. To finish off we had the melon soaked in vermouth and vacuum sealed for a few hours. Devine! If you are a foodie, pease come check the restaurant! read more
This was more of an experience than a casual lunch. I really enjoyed being surprised with the chefs menu. My favorite was the iberico ham, it was so thin it melted in your mouth. Very fun to try the olive, it looked and tasted like an olive, but had a gelatin texture that burst in your mouth. My other favorites were the fried peppers, croquette, eggplant, and squid and potatoes (a little salty). Some of the seafood was adventurous for me, but I still enjoyed it. We tried 12 dishes and were stuffed! We also got the Vermouth. It was about €120. Pricey, but cool experience. I felt like I was watching Top Chef in person! read more

The restaurant is overhyped for the mostly bland food served We had the chefs surprise which were a series of tastings We both enjoyed the calamari sand which was the standout from an otherwise unremarkable meal We looked forward to this meal with the high recommendations and left shaking our heads Also the service was poor having to ask for water 3 times prior to getting it along with long waits in between the small courses We've found much better food in local tapa bars along with service and cost read more
