Such a cute unassuming spot! Taco spot in the front and sexy bar in the back. I appreciated that they allowed you to order from the bar (to take advantage of the happy hour specials) and sit in the front at the tables. The bar was PACKED! it may have been an event or something but it was super busy back there. we ordered the nachos and tacos and they were all so good! The margaritas were lovely as well. Will definitely check this spot out again if in the area.

I went for HH and honestly, I was super shocked by how good the food and drinks were. We sat at the bar and had the best service! shout out the bartenders for being super attentive despite being busy. They have margarita Mondays which is the day we went, and they have pitchers for $30 and frozen for $5 we ate like 10 tacos together haha but it was delicious. I have heard mixed reviews about the food, but we got lucky, and it was very juicy and fresh. I've definitely would return for another HH

This place is cool! The front of the bodega is a traditional sit-down spot with normal lights and music. The back is where the excitement is at. I love the concept of a secret door going to a bar in the back. The decor is fun, the lighting level gets dimmer every hour to what must be pitch black by 8pm and you just bump into other patrons and suddenly you have a new Tinder date to take home. The food was definitely hit and miss. The plain nachos my friend got barely had any cheese on it, and the cheese was definitely can you use a can opener for or one you press a nozzle at the top to get out. Nachos with a pitiful amount of onions and tomatoes and nothing else. The Classico burrito was phenomenal. Perfect temperature, grilled, cut in two diagonally, and fresh warm interior with beans, cheese, salsa, and plenty of hot sauce at the table to turn up dat heat! The $7 margs were very tart and premixed. They were okay but the alcohol content was pretty low. Ask for tajin and jalapeños, same price and much tastier! The prices were fair. I spent $42 with tax and tip. The bartender was incredibly attentive, friendly, and on point! She even pointed out the automatic tip, when she could have left that out to cheat customers, but didn't. The honestly is appreciated! I'll definitely come back for happy hour here again!

This is a cool spot in an area of the city that doesn't have many Mexican spots with specials during the week, and there's a bonus speak easy! (If you know, you know). The drinks: nothing to write home about. Pretty standard. Not meant to be positive or negative. However, I do suggest the 'love me' and 'f*ck me' shots, because with names like those, how could you not. The food: ordered chicken and steak tacos, not impressed to be honest. Especially given the $5 price tag per taco. Gave the jalapeño brisket burrito a try, not impressive. The elote dorado was another story. That is an AMAZING taco. Perfect balance of flavor, sauce, and spice! Would get this every time. The speak easy is a great time, so if I return, it'll likely be to visit there. If I'm hungry, the elote dorado taco will know my name as well.

Went for happy hour after seeing this spot on tiktok - 6/10 for the experience and the atmosphere. The drinks were nicer heavy, the tacos personally I was not feeling a solid 6/10. The servers and bartenders were extremely polite and attentive though and the overall cleanliness was great but just needs better music and food. *fun fact go toward the green arrow !

Food was great here and everything came out in a timely manner. All the dishes we ordered were tasty and well‑made. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because there were no frozen margaritas when we arrived since the bar wasn't open yet. Other than that, the service, food, and ambiance were great!

Loveeeeeeeed Bodega! The staff was chef's kiss! Relaxed atmosphere with good music playing! Their bar area is super cute and cozy. The drinks and food were delicious. I'll definitely be back for a good night out!

Okay okay let's get into it! This place and the design is so cute! My friends and I were able to visit for a beautiful and successful launch and if you're into Mexican food you'll be into here! Why? Because not only is there the cutesy ambiance but also this cute bar/loungey area ln the back! Service and staff was great! Metro accessible so super close to GW metro as well!

I was here on Saturday night for dinner and had a lovely experience. We had their F*ck Me shot and a cocktail (Strawberry Limeade) and both were really delicious! As for tacos, they were a great size -- we were expecting something smaller, but were pleasantly surprised. Our favorite was the Steak Chimichurri taco, I highly recommend it! The Barbacoa and the Taco de "Birria" were nice as well (I really liked their Birria Consommé). We also had the Yuca Verde but we could have skipped it...(it was very oily.) Otherwise, the experience was good -- they had a DJ there but it wasn't overwhelming. We were still able to have a conversation over dinner. Our food came out quickly as well. Overall, a nice and easy spot for dinner!

Tacos. They taste better than they are pictured here.

I've been hearing good things about this spot called Bodega Taqueria y Tequila, so I had to check it out to see what the hype was about. Let me just say, upon entry it is super cute. You walk in to see half an airstream as the center point of the establishment, which set the tone. However, my boyfriend and I were on a Happy Hour mission, so we made our way to the back where there was a speakeasy, which was absolutely packed, but what else do you expect on a Friday evening at Happy Hour, next to the George Washington Campus. So we make our way to the bar for the $3 margaritas. The Margaritas tasted more like yellow Gatorade, even though I watched the bartender make it right in front of me, but can you really expect from a $3 margarita "Kanye Shrug." On to the food; they had 3 tacos for the $12 and some change. I got the ribeye, chicken, and pork tacos. Although the tacos were pretty good, they could have used a little sauce. Now tell me how these tacos magically went from $12- $20 when I checked my statement (I gave the bartender my card because like I said it was packed; and it was a digital transaction). Like what on God's green earth is this type of gratuity and tax? Anywho, my boyfriend and I ran the tacos back (like I said they were pretty good) and got Modelos instead of the margarita. The tacos almost took and hour to get this time (we did not get them until after Happy Hour was over and people cleared out). Gratefully the management was on top of it and comped our tacos and gave a 2 drink tickets for either margaritas or Modelos. Now to the DJ; DJ Xavi was great and kept the vibes going. He played a lot of Bad Bunny but mixed in between some 90s music, which I loved. Overall, my experience was decent. I would definitely go back but I think I may go back during a non happy hour time, so I can enjoy it a little bit more.

Way overpriced. The food was fine but very heavy--I'd rather go to Chipotle. I still need to try the "speakeasy" in the back.

This is such a perfect spot for either a date night or a fun night out with friends. The speakeasy vibe, the chic atmosphere, and the music (a smooth, chill house mix) all come together so effortlessly. Plus, being open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays is a huge bonus. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time - this place stays busy for a reason. From my previous visit, I remember having a ravioli dish, what I believe was a braised beef, and their sliders with duck fat fries - all of which were incredible and clearly memorable since I was thinking about them for months. The sliders paired with those fries were honestly a standout. This time around, we had to get the duck fat fries again, and they were just as phenomenal as I remembered. The cheesesteak oysters were easily a 10/10 - fresh, meaty, and honestly surprising coming from someone who used to not even like oysters. We also tried the grilled octopus, which was well-seasoned (as expected, slightly chewy), and the fried calamari, which was light, not heavy at all, and paired perfectly with the sauces. The tuna tartare was another standout - super fresh, soft, and practically melted in your mouth. For drinks, we went all in. The Dirty Diamond martini with blue cheese olives was great, though if you like your martinis extra filthy, I'd recommend specifying that. The Hemingway Special had a nice subtle sour kick, and the vanilla mint espresso martini was strong (you can definitely taste the alcohol) but still smooth and frothy. The Mary Pickford with Malibu was surprisingly delicious - almost like a mocktail. The Paloma was solid, and the Code Red cocktail gave me slight cosmopolitan vibes. But the real star was the dulce de leche espresso martini--absolutely unforgettable. What really ties everything together here is the service. The staff - from the hosts to the servers - are attentive, welcoming, and genuinely elevate the experience. Overall, Code Red is one of those places you keep coming back to. If you're looking for a stylish speakeasy atmosphere with great food, drinks, and energy, this is it.

I think there's a password but its written on the sign out front and if you have a reservation don't worry! The space is beautiful! Well decorated and very atmospheric. Low lighting and live jazz on Wednesdays that was a little too loud for my liking as it was super difficult to talk over but otherwise pleasant. The drinks menu is a creative format and delivered as a newspaper with some history on the prohibition era as well as drinks popularized around that time and what said drinks are known for. What Code Red loses in innovative drinks it makes up for in a well crafted cocktail. Nothing fancy or frilly here just a solid list of mostly classic cocktails done right in a nice vibey setting. Prices are about on par with a standard cocktail in DC these days. Really enjoyed my time here! Perfect place for a date or girl's date. Overall friendly service and a really friendly bouncer. Definitely worth a visit for classics in a nice venue.

The food and the service were so good at Manifest.  It made our evening truly a relaxing celebration.  We hope to dine there again soon!

March 7, 2026 at 2:30 PM for Brunch…read more TL,DR: Love the ambiance and the service was great but I felt as if the food was pretty average for cost. Additionally, the bill includes a 22% auto-gratuity no matter the size of your party, and the machine prompts you with the option to add more when paying. Ambiance (5/5): This is one of the most visually appeasing restaurants I have been too. The entrance on the street level that descends into a basement restaurant after exiting the spiral staircase is definitely one for the books. On top of this, the shade of pink used for the walls creates a vibe that is not only beautiful, but in my opinion keeps those in the restaurant in a soothing mood. This was extremely noticeable as it is a small seating area in the main area, and it wasn't loud even though it was fairly packed. It's also important to note that the restaurant does extend into a bar area and a back room. We were offered to sit in the bar area but chose the main area. Service (4/5): The service was great Our service was very attentive and checked-in on us multiple times. Not only was he friendly, but wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. The only reason I gave a 4/5 was because, our server did forget pepper that we asked for twice, but another friendly team member went the extra mile to help us. Food (3/5): I ordered the Skillet Seafood Omelette for myself, and shared the French Toast Bread Pudding with my friend. The French Toast was nothing short of phenomenal, and I'd return to get that just based on how good it tasted alone. However, the Skillet Seafood Omelette did not quite meet my expectations. Although well made, I found it to be an average taste and something I could have made at home. First, I expected a traditional omelette, but this was a frittata at it's core. I am not a fan of frittata's because in my opinion they bring out all of the worst parts of the egg taste, and had I known it was a frittata and not an omelette, I would have ordered something different. Special Note: This weren't taken into consideration for rating but I thought it was important to note that a 22% auto-gratuity is added to your bill no matter the size of your party, and when you pay, it has the audacity to ask for an extra tip on top of that. Anytime I see this as a restaurant I note it, as I normally tip 20% unless service is bad, and reserve anything higher than 20% for exceptional service.
