As a Californian visiting The Hill for work, this foodie wanted to get a taste of home this morning- with of course, an avocado toast. Served with a arugula salad, the toast exceeded my expectations! I loved the touch of tomatoes and sesame seeds. I got the orange mimosa to pair with it and it was a great breakfast, overlooking the Capitol. Unfortunately, it was raining today- but the view was still very enjoyable inside. Staff were friendly, and it was a quiet morning to start off my day. Thanks for having me!! The hotel staff was friendly and the rooms were in great condition. We did have a ln issue on our first night where the AC in our room didnot work and when we reached out to the front desk they said since their maintaenance person was out they would offer us a fan which I thought was absurd. We had to argue a little and explain that we had two little kids with us and that we were not paying the high room prices to then sleep with a fan all night and run hot. After some back and forth they offered us an ugraded room which had a king bed and sofa sleeper. It worked just fine for our purposes. The food at the hotel was decent but I wish they had more vegetarian or vegan options. Overall, we would go to this location again. read more

Caught up with some friends here for happy hour and a quick bite. They don't have very much in the way of food options, and truth be told, their happy hour isn't much of a deal, but the rooftop is nice with great views of the capital, and the vibes were cool with the inclusion of a DJ. The happy hour drinks are nothing to write home about and watered down, but their regular menu drinks are well made, even if overpriced. The food is also fairly good, and I was also happy to see that they have a catfish sandwich on the menu, which is hard to find in this city. Overall, it's a decent place to grab a drink and some food with good views, and I would come back. read more

Yea, I liked this place a lot. The bathrooms are all separated! You're not in a room with a bunch of people. That's probably my favorite part. The restaurant is on the top floor so there's a beautiful view of DC (including the capital and Washington monument). The service was exceptional. My Branzino was cooked to perfection (it can be a challenge to not over-cook). Glad I came! Would def come again. Parking not included. read more

Upstairs at the Morrow, may just be one of my favorite places to be in DC during the summertime. The DJ, the bartenders, the food, the views, the ambiance inside are all spectacular. Every time I go I always order the chicken tenders and french fries because they are seasoned so well. They have a happy hour Wednesday-Friday from 4-7 pm. The next time you're in the NOMA area be sure to check this place out. It's a hidden gem within The Morrow, which I would also recommend staying at, the rooms are beautiful! read more

Located on the rooftop of the Morrow hotel, the bar makes great use of the small space. Sitting roughly 30-40 ppl comfortably the area is a mix of indoor/outdoor space with a view you can see from nearly every seat. My friend and I opted for the bar and were waited on right away. Mainly there for the drinks, and to line my stomach before a show at the Howard theatre, I ordered a lemon drop and chicken tenders. The 3 stars were for the amount of time it took for the chicken tenders to come out (23mins) as well as the breading. The chicken tenders themselves were solid but the breading was falling off and soggy. They're served with a mambo sauce but I didn't enjoy it. Having MS at the carry out all my life I haven't been able to stomach the gentrified MS haha. I instead opted for their ranch which was AMAZING and tasted like it was made in house. They also have a sunset toast that happens at sunset where the bar offers you a generic drink. I did not partake because I don't mix liquor but it was a cute touch. Overall if you're looking for a spot to grab drinks this is a decent place to be. For 6pm on a Friday it was very lowkey and the perfect vibe for a quick drink with a view if you're in the area. The DJ left much to be desired but musical taste will vary from person to person. read more

Lovely decor and great service! My coworkers and I had several meals here when we were visiting and agreed the staff here were very attentive and helpful. When we were there the Upstairs at the Morrow was downstairs due to renovation, but the food was unaffected. I had two of their different scrambled eggs/omelet options in the morning and their Caesar salad with shrimp in the evening. Everything was tasty, my only complaint was the mandatory service charge on all orders, even when they were takeout orders - that should be updated on their end. read more

The great: Amazing views but varying and limited seating. The good: The food is decent. I really enjoyed the French Onion Burger. Some of the items are a little overpriced. The cocktails are pretty good as well and average DC prices ($14-$18). The bad: Service is very spotty and often not good. I've sat at the bar before and left after not being greeted for after several minutes. The last time I went with a group they refused to split our checks and said we gone given them a heads up when we got there that there would be separate checks. We finally got it to split it but it was a hassle. read more

The views here were amazing. Great service. I had the Sunset margarita. 3 of them. Was a little weak. I had to ask to get some tequila added to my third one. Tasted great though. The burger was amazing. I think it was called the French onion burger. Best I had in a while. The fried tasted like McDonalds French fries. I hope healthier lol. My friends had the tacos, they said they didn't like it. I didn't have it so I can't speak for it. One friend got the chicken fingers as well and said they were good. We went there for a bday happy hour. The drinks were $10 each but after happy hour they $18 each. That's when I had to stop lol. I'd come again during happy hour, which is from 5-7PM, grab a burger. Enjoy the views. And have a good time. You get a great view of DC and the Capitol. I highly recommend it. read more

Would love to come back at a busier time but went on a Sunday after brunch! No one is lying about the views ! It's different from the standard city views, the angle they have of the city from here is so beautiful. It's a larger sized rooftop bar which I appreciate for the area and it was very chill and had a relaxed atmosphere. Service was very attentive and willing to give recommendations. However, food was pricier than expected. I got the shrimp cocktail and it was underwhelming. It's shrimp, basic cocktail sauce and the veggies were just raw salad. A little vinaigrette would've gone a long way. Overall save your money there. The burger however is a better bet for price. Fries were really good but my friend did wish more than ketchup was added as a topping. I would return ! read more

The Upstairs at The Morrow Review: Fantastic Rooftop Vibes (4.5/5) The Upstairs at The Morrow is a rooftop bar that I absolutely love. The vibes are wonderful, and the view of NoMa is fantastic. The drinks and food are good and well thought out. The French burger with beef jus is probably one of the best I've had in the city, accompanied by delicious frites. We also tried the strawberry shortcake, which was just okay. The service was fast and friendly, and they accommodated us as walk-ins. Honestly, you go for the vibes--the views are incredible, and the decor is luxurious throughout the bar and hotel, featuring clean modern finishes. The DJ that night added to the lively atmosphere. I also appreciated that all the dishware was high-quality plastic, which felt really well thought out for a rooftop setting. Disclaimer: I worked at Le Clou, the associated restaurant, for about a week before leaving. I wasn't the biggest fan of Chef Nic, but I will say that the burger was damn good. read more

It's a sketchy situation. We made a reservation for July 4th on July 1st, three days in advance. We called to cancel the reservation within 1.5 hours of making it, and the bar manager said it wouldn't be a problem. On July 4th, we called the bar to double-check the cancellation, and we were certain that the reservation had been canceled. However, they charged us $150 for a canceled reservation. Despite multiple calls and discussions, we couldn't resolve the issue. We don't know if the food and service will be good, but the management is definitely bad. read more

First thing I want to say is what a cool space this is as a roof top location in DC. The drinks and food are very good...but that is where it ends. We are here visiting our 28 year old daughter that moved here a few months ago to take a job with Washington Med Star. This was a roof top bar on top of a Hilton hotel that was between where we were staying and her apartment. The setting is amazing and we were sat at a nice table with a great view of the Washington Monument and the Capital Building. This should be one of the best roof top locations in DC. We got water and 1 round of drinks. We ordered three entres that were all delicious. At about 9PM, the young manager decided she wanted a night club scene. We watched 2 tables get up and leave because they turned the volume of the music up so loud you could not talk accross the table. We watched one table ask them to turn down the music and they said no. We asked as it was a ridiculous level of volume...we are products of the 80s and loud music does not bother us. The music they were playing was very good and we really liked it but when you are yelling across the table at your wife and she is shaking her head because she can not hear you and is trying to read your lips...it is too loud. My daughter has visited multiple roof top bars in DC in the last few months and said this was the worst atmosphere she had seen yet...I can not even explain it other than the manager was young and probably right out of college...the Frat parties are over and you are now in public is about all I can say. Our server never returned to get us a second round of drinks or to even fill our water. We asked our server to just bring the bill so we could leave and then we discovered they tagged on an additional 20% for a gratuity on a table of 3 people. I finally approached the manager and asked her to remove the gratuity for service we did not receive. I pointed out that all their tables were now empty and only 1/2 of their outdoor tables had people sitting at them. The tables cleared because the music was so obnoxiously loud that instead of people drinking and running their tab up they were sitting empty. She was so unapologetic it was horrible. I mean I am not the sharpest tool on the wall but empty seats do not generate billable tickets. There is no doubt if there was different management involved, this place would be one of the best in DC. This is not a nightclub but it is apparent they want it to be. We will not be back to this location as there are a lot of better options in DC read more
