Why 5 stars? Because these treats are definitely worth coming back for. --- --- --- I don't know how long I've have this place bookmarked, but I'm pretty sure it's been many years. I'm not in the area too often, and when I am, it's always one of those places that looks interesting but usually doesn't win out. Always the bridesmaid! Recently, I was out with my son and decided to finally make it happen. First off, it absolutely looks more like a house than a business, both inside and out. The dining room consists of 3 tables and legitimately looks like a family dining room, minus the fact that there are 3 tables instead of one. Then there's a bathroom that, again, looks like the bathroom of a home, and then there's the main area with all of the food. There's a case full of empanadas and quiches, as well as a slew of pre-packaged goods and treats, some of which are frozen or refrigerated. I stuck to the fresh stuff. The empanadas were great, especially the ham and cheese. I ordered two of those and wish I'd ordered like 4-5 because they were excellent. My least favorite was the beef, but I still enjoyed it, just not as much as the ham & cheese or chicken. But my 2nd favorite thing was the quiche. You guessed it, I wished I'd ordered more than just one. For dessert, I went with a Pionono. It wasn't my favorite, but totally fine overall. My son loved it, for the record. I do occasionally have a medical appointment in the area and definitely know where I'll be stopping in next time when I need a post-appt snack. read more

If you like Argentinian food, then you must visit this little and humble place. They have great empanadas (among many other Argentinian things), and the owner who is also in charge of the store is the most sweet lady. A real pleasure coming here. The atmosphere is very welcoming. They have Argentinian cuts of beef, cheeses, sausages, chimichurri, candies, mate, and of course, empanadas. It is very nice to find all these things in just one physical place without having to buy online. My only recommendation for them would be to try to include Argentinian wines and maybe some grilling tools like Argentinian knives and provoleteras. But other than that and even without those things, they are a great place to shop at. read more

Showing up 15 minutes before their afternoon closing time on Saturday, I'd set the bar high. Guy behind counter said the beef, chicken, and ham n cheese empanada were the best sellers. He bagged up one of each. No offer to heat them, and a rather terse, accusing tone when the roll of 7 $1 bills I handed him was $1 light. Not a good start with me and the Argentine deli. Seems like a nice mom and pop place with Argentinian food. I only went there because I heard that they have meat empanadas. They had 5-6 different empanadas on display along with quiches. Apparently all are hand-made creations. I bought 3 empanadas. I loved the ham and cheese. The chicken was decent but didn't really like the beef. It had green olive in it. Overall, they were a little smaller than I expected since they were all about the size of child's fist with the spinach being not much bigger than a baby's fist. read more

So I was in a mood to have a light lunch and found this place on Yelp!. One can easily miss this place (like I did driving by twice!) since it's almost blends in with the neighborhood homes!. I walked in and was greeted by all and got help from Pablo in what's good to order. The food is all fresh and home made. I ordered a dozen empanadas and the Pasta Frola de Membrillo to go. The empanadas are delicious especially the chicken and ground beef. You would need more than two to fill you up though. The jam based pasta frola de membrillo is just right with a cup of coffee. My other review disappeared. I hope I can relate the awesomeness of this little mom and pop restaurant hidden on the back street of Oakridge Drive on the side of The Woodlands. When I first walked in I smelled such warm savory smells of food cooking. They make their own Argentinian empanadas and variety of quiche. These foods have such incredible flavors and mellow spices. I could eat these on a weekly basis. Everything is made from scratch and done with quality ingredients. They also have Argentinian frozen pizzas which have the most incredible cheeses and quality meats. They don't last long and they don't taste like they were ever frozen when I baked mine. They have a grocery section of their countries foods. There is also a serene dining area to eat in. Definitely worth a visit. They close at 6pm on weekdays and 2pm Saturday. Smells like heaven. Tasty basil and tomato quiche. Chimichurri sauce to go. When I asked the owner if they had plantains to go with it, she said that's not what it's for. We only discovered this place two weeks ago, we tried the savory vegetarian pies: spinach and zucchini and also the sweet quince pie. We loved the homey ambiance (feels like entering a home!), greeted by the lovely friendly family. Everything is homemade, I recommend you coming here for a light but fulfilling bite, they have pizza and Yerba mate tea too. All tasted so good, the pies were seasoned lightly (not too sweet or savory) which we greatly appreciated. Today, we went again to get a large size of the quince pie to bring for a pot luck, everybody enjoyed it . So happy to have this cafe in our neighborhood! read more

Spinach is not fresh spinach. It is frozen and it destroys the taste of the empanada. The item could be so much better if it was fresh spinach. I would be willing to pay more (about $4 per empanada) for fresh spinach. Pastry and size of empanada are both good. read more

Absolutely delicious. Family run business. I talked to the owner's son. He was very friendly and helpful. I took home three different types of quiche. The one with sliced baby tomatoes on top was so delicious. I haven't eaten the other two yet. But they look really good. I also got empanadas, including spinach and ground beef and a few others I can't think of at the moment. But they were all equally fresh and definitely a treat. I like to watch foreign movies on Netflix. Sometimes I like to eat the food from that country, if possible. So after watching several Argentinian movies, I decided to get some Argentinian style food and I was not disappointed. I'll definitely go back to Bodegon Del Sur. In my opinion, it'd be a good place to order from when you plan on entertaining but don't want to cook yourself. The food here is outstanding. I've always gotten their amazing food to take home. The frozen pizza is the best I've ever tasted. It's not like the pizza you usually get. The crust is crunchy and the toppings are delicious. Ever since I first tried them I keep several in my freezer. They have a variety of toppings plus you can always add more to your liking. The empanadas and mini quiches are very fresh. I've served them at parties and everyone raves about them. They also sell the most amazing butter cookies with caramel in-between. My first ever visit to Bodegon Del Sur~simply put, was amazing! My mum and I had never tried any "Argentinian" Empanadas, quiches, pastries & mate. The owner, Señora Liliana Ruocco, is wonderful and through her Husband, Señor Eduardo, doing the translation in English, she provided us with fresh samples of basically all the foods they had!! Any questions asked, was proved and delivered with a sample to taste! What a beautiful touch!! ( I missed this living in the USA !) it's old world charm and speaking as a non-Hispanic, reminds me off Europe ! Having been in the food industry with my family; I know all about the pros and cons of some food business owners. I must say, The Ruocco's are very, very, hospitable ,owners, welcoming you into their cozy place and treating their customers with the best attitude,Humility & great Product Knowledge . There was no pushing on, nor,trying to make me purchase their products... ,however their products and all the food they sell, speak for themselves!! The Pastries and Dough, on all their food- Simply ASTOUNDING!! HEAVENLY BLISS!! Definitely worthy of a 5 Star Hotel, Pastry Chef!! Genuis, I must say.
