Bodhi medical group is terrific. I've been seeing Dr. M for many years, and he is a great physician. He responds to my emails right away. He's never kept me waiting in my years of seeing him. She is kind, compassionate, and sweet. She is so knowledgeable about women's health and family medicine. Its easy to call and get an appointment, the wait times are slim to none, and the care received it always of great quality but I seriously hate how they nickel and dime you for everything. Camp/immunization forms are normally provided for free at the end of an annual physical exam but the process at Bodhi makes you log onto a website which you have to pay for and then order the forms which you also have to pay for. There are also periodic emails entitled "Happy Holidays" asking for donations. How bout this---use the money I paid unnecessarily for the immunization forms which should be free and donate it to the charity of your choice. Because point, click, print is not something that I should be charged for. The outcome of the physical exam is the whole point of the physical exam! Do doctors realize how much we as patients and parents pay for health care and copayments? With that said, I think I've met with each pediatrician at Bodhi Medical at one point or another and they are all absolutely great and replies are always prompt. Their bedside manner is phenomenal and even the front desk staff is EXCELLENT, hence the 4 star rating and not looking to change pediatricians any time soon. read more

Do not go here. I was a new patient and was unfamiliar with the space, received minimal help through the registration process and overheard the receptionist loudly discussing several copay mistakes they had made with other patients. I was writing pharmacy information down on a post-it note for them. I made an appointment with a specific doctor, which went well, but no one at the office bothered to tell me it was her last day with the practice. When I called literally three days later with an urgent question for the doctor about my medication, they referred me to another doctor, who prescribed me a completely different medication without consulting me or my medical history first. The saga continues as I now have to urgently sort out the situation. Truly horrible patient care to hang your patients out to dry and not tell them their doctor is leaving the practice (and shame on the doctor for not telling me herself). Even worse patient care to just throw medication at them that is not only completely new, but has side effects that were not explained to me. Being busy is one thing, but if I have to ask three times to speak to a doctor about a new medication and they're still unwilling to call, that to me suggests that these doctors do not care about their patients' wellbeing. Doctor. Pediatrics and adults. My review is based on the pediatric side of the practice. We chose Dr. Farber and her practice based on our research and recommendation from a friend of ours whose son is a patient. We interviewed plenty of candidates, but we felt her beliefs in her practice had matched ours and considering the fact that she has kids of her own, that she would take care of our child and other children as well as her own kids. The doctors at her practice all share her commitment to making sure your child is taken care of and you leave satisfactory of the diagnosis and issues that your child might be going through. They offer a very convenient online scheduling system for all the doctors in the practice. You choose what you are going in for and select whichever doctor is available. Or you do have the option of phoning it in, but in this age of technology, easier is better, right? If you want Dr Farber specifically you can always call her or text her and ask her to squeeze you in. Speaking of that, she is always available to you with any questions you might have via phone or text. If you have questions about what your child might be experiencing just give her a text and she will get back to you as soon as she can. It isn't a direct diagnosis but at least you might be able to calm your nerves as a first time parent or as an experienced one. The practice also has two convenient locations in the city. One on the west side by the Time Warner Center and one on the east side on 72nd street. Dr Farber is only on the west side on Fridays, but you don't always have to go to her. The other doctors in her practice are just as good as she is. They are all very informative and provide you with an understanding of what your child might be experiencing. You might even get a printout of the issue so you could read further upon it. I used to dislike going to the doctor when I was a child and sick because I was there for hours waiting for the doctor with all the other sick kids coughing. With their practice, you barely have to wait long, unless you have not pre checked in with your appointment. We usually get there early and within a couple of minutes we are sent to a room to wait for the doctor. If you are a new parent or you want to look for a new doctor, I definitely recommend their practice. You take your child to the doctor to diagnose what might be wrong with your child, not what you want webmd to tell you what is wrong with your child. read more

Good medical care. Billing department are beyond incompetent...you will get bills two years or more after service and be told it is all your fault and you are responsible. Go somewhere else if your wallet cannot handle the unknown bills. read more

Dr. Margaret Romero is very sincere and helpful. I went to Bodhi Medical group in UES for a check up and a few other things. She spends more than enough time with me listening to my concerns and giving me advices. Whenever I have questions, she is always available via email and she would responds in the same day. She is very empathic and tries her best to figure out the best solution for her patient. She is a very lovely doctor. I would definitely recommend her. read more

I have been taking my son to Apple Pediatrics for over 6 months now. Recently he was given the MMR vaccine, in which fever and a few other side affects occurred. He was vomiting, coughing a deep mucus cough, and suddenly 12 days after his vaccine, he broke out into a rash that appears as a measles rash would. The past 12 days, I have been monitoring his temperature, aspirating his nostrils after using a saline solution to break up the hardened crusted snot, and have called the after hours hot line on three different occasions.Today I took him to the pediatricians as his rash has been the worse yet. Its important to note, that the previous two times I called, I was told that "everything was fine, keep doing what your doing, its probably just heat rash and a cold". Apparently my son fell in to the, "less than 5%", of babies who react this way after receiving the MMR vaccine. I have no problem with this. Obviously, know one can predict what will happen. Needless to say, I rush over to the pediatric office, where I literally have to take an elevator operated by a person, down to the basement where there are no EXITS or STAIRWAYS marked. This became problematic because my wife was running late, and I needed to call her to give her the address however there is no cell phone service in the office. So there I was, ringing the buzzer for the elevator..... no answer..... rang it again....... no answer...... once more....... yep you guessed it, no answer! I raised my voice and said "Hello", trying to get the attention of whoever could hear me to tell me how I could get out of this area. And guess what... no answer! After some time, of feeling helpless because there was no way out, I started to really shout "Hello!" Eventually, the elevator man showed up in which he had a few choice words with me stating, " I was taking a piss, can't you wait". What a punk! Eventually my wife shows up and the story continues....... We were put in an exam room, both a little frustrated at this point, and the first thing anybody says to us, is "You have an outstanding balance, do you want to deal with this now or after your baby is seen", DUH!!!!!!!!! After the baby is seen!!!! What the heck kind of question is that? It didn't make any sense because we just had been seen 12 days prior and no one mentioned anything about an overdue bill. Whatever, it really is irrelevant, however I mention it, because it only supports the review. My sons got some serious reactions to the MMR Vaccine and your asking me if I want to put a 57 dollar bill in front of him being seen, get real! Then the doctor comes in, asks us what's bothering us. Again, whatever issues we have had with the staff is insignificant, and comes secondary to my sons health. My wife expresses this to the doctor in which the doctor replies "I feel like I'm being attacked", and I have a "no abuse policy". I have no FREAKIN clue what any of this means, this carried in to a pretty heated discussion between my wife and this doctor. I had to intervene and ask my wife to leave the room, just so we could move on and do what we came here to do, and that is, for my son to be checked out. But I can't help but to wonder what the hell she meant by "No abuse policy". So as I'm listing all his symptoms, and naming dates, and giving data on his fevers such as temperatures and how long they lasted, the only response is simply "MmmHmm". 3 minutes in to the exam, she says he's fine, and he just needs to work through it. Look I get it, there is not much you can do to treat this, so I agree that he just needs to work his way through it. I am mostly upset, because I feel as if my time was wasted. If they would have announced the possible side effects and talked about this at his vaccine appointment, this all could have been avoided. If they would have said this on the phone, when I called three times, this could have been avoided. But instead, we traveled to the office, sick baby and all, just to be treated like second class citizens who were "Lucky" to have their services. If my son wasn't sick, and I wasn't worried about secondary reactions that could occur such as ear infection ect., I would have walked out as soon as the doctor started arguing with my wife. I feel bad that I didn't, as I usually stick up for my wife in these type of situations, but like I said, my sons health comes first. In summary, this is a dark, dingy, basement office, with no "Exit" signs clearly marked. The doctor does not have the capability to concede in what the patient or parents are going through. Instead, I got the impression that we should be grateful that she was able to see us today. I would not recommend this office to anybody. Its not worth the headache. When your a doctor, and you have a baby on the exam table who has measles rash from head to toe, and the first thing you do is argue with the parent, maybe you ought to not be working this type of job. read more

I made an appoint ment here 3 weeks in advance to meet (maybe) my future pediatrician...I called two days before my appointment to confirm and they never had me scheduled...I thought it was strange but went ahead and made another appointment, when I got there, the receptionist didn't have me in their system AGAIN and gave me a look like "are you sure you made an appointment" as if it was me. My husband and I both took off work that day. Sorry, but we were not off to a good start. I will be looking around the upper east side reliable practices. read more

Dr. Farber has been both my 3 year old and one year old's pediatrician since birth and we make sure we see her every time we have to go to the doctor. My daughter loves seeing her and she has never kept us waiting and is always available with questions anytime of day. She is not only the most caring doctor but also has chlldren of her own. We feel so lucky to have found her from day one. Her office is warm, clean and her staff is professional. We have met the other doctors in the group and have been happy with them as well but we still favor Dr. Rebecca and look forward to every visit. She listens and understands my needs as a parent and my concerns about my children. We have recommended her to all our friends and have been thanked many times. I just had my appointment with Dr. Malachovsky, and boy can I tell you that was the quickest lines of 'wait' ever. Literary, after I filled out my paperwork (which was electronic by the way, go innovation!) he was there to greet me. If you are expecting someone who is going to make a lot of small talk, he is not your doctor. Though very nice and attentive, he gets to the point and will TELL you what is wrong. The assistants at the front desks however are VERY friendly. Kudos to them. -1 star for being in the basement and small space. read more

The team of Apple Pediatrics are a nightmare! We are utterly repulsed by Rebecca Farber who is standoffish and unprofessional. My newborn was treated like a rag doll, she intentionally flicked my daughter's sole to have my daughter yell at the top of her lungs in pain all the while she smirked with joy. My daughter had jaundice and was never told so and neither told what was necessary, all I saw was my daughter was unresponsive and was a worried mom hoping Farber would help. Rather I was yelled by her and her staff that this was not unusual and that I need psychological help because I suffered of depression. As a first time mom I was given little guidance by Farber. If you want to feel guilty and incompetent as a mom Farber is sure to accomplish that with her attitude and her authoritative tone. read more

We have been going to Apple Pediatrics/Bodhi ever since my first child (I have two girls) was born in 2011. We see Dr Rebecca Farber, but have also been treated by all the other doctors in the practice. We love Dr Farber. She is smart, attentive, and caring. She always gives me time to chat with her about all my concerns and has never been rude, superior, or rushed. Dr Farber is well read and gives very practical advice. Whenever I need her, she returns my call in a prompt manner. She even spaced out both daughters vaccine schedules with no issues and made me feel comfortable that she cares about parents opinions. I don't understand some of these strange reviews as we have received consistent care from her over 3 1/2 years and have always been exceeding happy with Dr Farber's services. One note, the elevator has been out to the practice, which is in the basement, which necessitates using the service elevator in the building. While awkward, it is neither dingy nor scary. The space is very clean and well kept. I'm hoping the main elevator is repaired very soon. read more

I have never been more satisfied with the PCP service than I am receiving right now. We went for a talk with Dr. Varma and were extremely happy and pleased with her. She makes you feel very warm and welcoming, she answers all your questions and she doesn't make you look like an idiot and doesn't have any arrogant attitude. The office staff is nice and polite and we didn't have to wait to see the doctor. She is easily reached via phone or email in case of emergency. I am a physician myself so I can feel and judge the caring attitude of doctors. I regret to choose Dr Farber as she lacks empathy, doesnt answers all questions and hardly gives 5 minutes without full examination of new born. She refused to write an OTC medicine for my wife even after asking her multiple timea. She may be good in talking or counseling but clinically, I am not impressed. We chosed her because of our OBGYN who is actually great. I would recommend other doctors of Bodhi clinic if you really wana come here. I hope all kids stay healthy, safe and happy. read more

Our primary pediatrician is Dr. Farber and we love her. We were all set to go to another office on the UWS when Dr. Farber checked on our newborn at the hospital and we have been seeing her ever since. On the rare occasions when we had to make an unscheduled visit, the other doctors treated our child with equal importance. For us the online appointment scheduling is ideal and Dr. Farber is prompt and professional in her responses to us when we were new parents and freaking out about something that ended up being minor. She has sent us to some other children's specialist that fits our insurance when necessary. We are very pleased with her and highly recommend. read more

We see Dr. Varma and she's great! Very kind and gentle, she is great at answering questions and never makes us feel rushed. She responds to emails and voicemails quickly, which is great when you have a newborn (and lots of questions!). We frequent the East Side office but had our 1-month visit at the Columbus Circle office. It was a little more chaotic than the East Side office, but I think that is because there are also many adult patients visiting the wellness/preventative care offices. I am reviewing the Apple Pediatrics practice, in particular Drs. Magnas and Varma. Our family has been treated extremely well. Our infant daughter has seen both of these doctors and they have been nothing but professional, warm, understanding, easily accessible and thorough. The online system the practice uses for booking and confirming appointments is great. Also, the doctors are excellent at responding to non-urgent questions and concerns via email (which was especially important for first time parents!) The on-call phone number is a good option as well and no matter what time we called they were readily available to advise us. Plus - there are two locations which means it was even more convenient depending on when we needed to see the doctor and where it worked best for us. From the time they visited our baby in the hospital forward, it has been wonderful to have Apple Pediatrics responsible for her. We moved out of state so I can only hope we find the same level of care, professionalism and convenience we had at Apple. read more

We've been going here since the birth of our first son (over three years ago). We love dr. Farber. This practice takes the time to answer every question. They are great at returning emails in a timely manner. They are incredibly supportive and professional. Would highly rec to anyone looking for a pedi. We go to their UES office, but their Columbus circle office is much brighter and roomier. Wish they could have an office like that on the UES! read more

This review is for Apple Pediatrics, specifically Dr. Farber. We have been seeing Dr. Farber (et al) since our child was one year old. Consistently, Dr. Farber, and all of the doctors, are kind, patient, and they speak to our child, and to us, like people. My child is never talked down to, and she actually likes to go in to the exam room alone first for a few minutes to talk to her doctor by herself (she is five years old now). She trusts her doctors, which is so very important! The doctors are available at all hours, and they were never frustrated in the early years, when I would call about every little illness or injury. Treatment plans, medications, and vaccine schedules are explained thoroughly and I am never embarrassed to ask a million questions if needed. We feel very grateful to have found truly caring doctors. read more

She has two offices: east 72nd St (her main office) and Columbus circle (which she's at on fridays). she takes insurance (SO HARD to find nowadays right??!), and she's looking to be able to make house calls within the next couple years. amazing. she has two kids herself, which i think makes her even more of an expert. you can call to schedule an interview with her, either in person or over the phone. It's her own practice and she has a couple nurse practitioners and colleagues under her. she will open her office 7 days a week if someone needs her. She's reachable directly on her cell 24/7 in emergencies, you can email her in between visits with questions or curiosities or concerns and she'll respond within 12-24 hours, or you can even text her if it's something urgent, but doesn't warrant a phone call, and she responds immediately, which I LOVE, and you can schedule your own appts directly on her website. She's totally open to any vaccination schedule you want, and as long as you dont opt out of ALL of them, you can do whatever you want. All our appointments have been amazing. She's 110% pro-breastfeeding and her receptionist is very helpful and sweet and accommodating too. Ya I just can't rave enough so far I guess. :) read more

I love Dr Farber with Apple Pediatrics but stay away from Dr. Nishawala. He has a terrible bedside manner and was minimizing and dismissive of my concerns about my sick child. He has a very cold and condescending manner. I generally do not expect too much from medical providers but common courtesy would have been greatly appreciated from a pediatrician treating my sick child. read more

I have been going to Dr. Malachovsky since 2010. He is a great doctor and always is able to fit me in, even on short notice. Whenever I need a referral or a prescription, his office is quick to have it prepared for me. And they accept my insurance, which many other offices do not. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a nice and competent doctor. And Adrienne is wonderful as well. She always remembers all the patients by name. One of the best offices I have been to. (I go to the one on the West Side.) They also have ob/gyn appointments in their office, which is convenient, since I work a lot, and often it's difficult to schedule at last minute. Plus, they have early morning before work to late evening, after work hours. read more

I made Dr. Malachovsky my primary care physician several years ago. He always responds kindly, patiently and completely to my questions, yet he is efficient and keeps his appointments moving. I aspire to work as effectively as he does, without losing my connection to people. His is an example of great patient care. He tailors his treatment plans to the individual's desires. For example, he knows I prefer a holistic approach, and he is completely supportive of my choices. Yet he discusses issues fully with me when they arise. We have been visiting Bodhi for 15 months and are very disappointed by Dr. Tamar Magnas and Bodhi. She left the Bodhi Medical a few weeks ago and we did not receive any notice and noticed after failing to make an appointment with her online. Regardless her reason with Bodhi, we didn't feel respected at all. All we received is a couple of sorry in the office from a new Dr. Is that something both Dr. and the associate group should notify their patients and give them enough time to transfer smoothly? As for the services, Dr. Magnas is fine but not amazing. We never feel she gave us enough time to finish questions. I almost always had to chase her for questions while she was on her way out of door. She is not that kind of Dr sitting down and focusing on your questions. Her advice is confusing sometimes. i.e. I asked her when to start giving my daughter solid food? She told me to do not let her try until after 6 months, which was Xmas time last year. Then when I brought my daughter back to the office in early Jan, a week after Xmas, she asked me what have you been feeding her? Anyways, we are currently seeking other pediatrician and will not recommend them. read more

I am mystified as to how anyone can recommend this practice. I have never in my life had to micro-manage a lazy staff like this group. My daughter and I arrived in NYC from Switzerland. I arrived at the office with her vaccination report and requested she have updates in order that her NY State Health form be filled out so she can get into school. Almost two months later I don't have it. I had to bring back the Swiss report because they forgot to copy it. They NEVER answer the phone or respond to voicemail. They claim they send emails when they don't. The nurse of Dr. Farber who took blood from my daughter was sloppy and had to do it twice and made a horrifying mess which traumatized my child. When they sent me a corrupt file of the report the nurse added a nasty note. On top of it the office is located in a windowless basement. Perhaps the other doctor's are fine but anyone connected with Dr. Rebecca Farber and the admin in general need to have their IQ evaluated. read more
