But it was very clear when I dropped in to my first class that all of the coaches take a tremendous amount of pride in their work. They are experts in their profession and wanted to make sure that I was doing the various movements properly. After a few months, I continue to be amazed by the culture of the gym. It is a positive and enthusiastic group of people who come from various backgrounds and experience. I think most members develop resilience and are able to do things they didn't think were possible. Summit Society is located inside Team Forty Four which is off Indian School and 38th St. The studio offers an intense 30minute climb / workout. Before the beginning of each class you're introduced to the Versa Climber along with the various strokes and the Do's/Don'ts. After that it's go time!! What I love most: -Everyone is welcomed: doesn't matter your fitness level. Even pregnant women are getting on the Versa and killing it!! Aka me! -The class is only 30minutes. Which means you're putting in work to get the most out of the climb. And don't worry if you can't bring the motivation your instructor will with upbeat playlists and words of encouragement. -Every instructor at Summit Society is super knowledgeable and brings so much to the table. Whether you have questions about health and wellness or technique or class schedules don't fret you'll get answers and so much more. -My favorite instructor thus far is Angela aka Gomez. Her classes are always fire! She brings the heat and makes sure we're all putting in work to get the most out of our sessions. Locals pay a bit leas and memberships can be by the month, every 3 months, or yearly for prices no other gym can compete with. Equipment ranges from multiple variations of cardiovascular machines, plenty of free weights and dumbells and the benches to utilize them with, weight machines targeting pretty much and muscle you can train. It is a boxing gym so there's speed bags, heavy bags, jump ropes, even an actual boxing ring. Staff are great and keep the place clean. Locker room available with showers, but bring your own lock. People are all friendly. Parking is great except during spring training. Try it out on a daily basis, see if it's for you.

Coming from a medical background, I can confidently say that Nick and Robert have an excellent understanding of anatomy and physiology, and they lead by example by doing the WODs themselves. Robert is motivational, positive, always demonstrating movements, and keeps the gym incredibly clean. Nick is polite, very technical, and explains movements in detail. I love that I can use OTF in many locations and the gym layout is generally the same and workouts are going to be challenging and effective. My opinion on places like Orangetheory or other group fitness places is that for someone *new* to working out, it's sometimes useful to start in a less intense workout environment. Not everyone thinks that, but I've observed myself over the years and anytime I do group fitness classes I tend to push myself much harder than I would working out alone (which is a great benefit). There's a lot of high energy going around in a group setting, however without a solid foundation of safe body mechanics and knowing one's own body, it can be possible to go too fast, push beyond what is reasonable, and get hurt. OTF is great for people building up their fitness levels and have a habit of exercising in some capacity. All levels are welcome but just know the workouts are fast paced and intense most of the time. I had stopped going to group weight training classes for a period of time, then started working 1:1 with a trainer, and when I returned to OTF I could tell the difference in how I prioritized doing the moves correctly and with good form, versus just going fast, using momentum, or trying to keep up with others. That's just my 2 cents. Overall, I keep going to OTF because it's one of many things that helps keeps my body moving and that's a good thing for my functional capacity as I continue to age. And it helps maintain my overall health & fitness as I continue to work my way through my long Yelp list of places to eat ;)

I even had spoke to somebody on the phone in addition to filling out the cancellation form. Fast forward to today, I'm looking through my bank statement and see I was charged again on 6/4. I re-download the OTF app and there's a whole class pack in my account. Sure enough, they had left me on as if I was still attending. I texted to speak with somebody. Never was given grace about the issue. Never spoken to with kindness. I was just told they never got a confirmation of the form. They kept asking me about the confirmation email I was sent and I told them I never got one. I even filled out another cancellation form, and still wasn't sent an email. Just crazy to have been charged, and haven't been going and then to be spoken to like that. Arcadia studio has better energy and customer service than this place.

And the community is awesome and very welcoming, as multiple people came up and introduced themselves to me before class started. The programming and coaching are also top notch. I wanted to be active for my bachelorette and I found this gym that had a week trial for $15! My friends and I were able to select the day we wanted to take the class and it was sooo enjoyable!! The instructor was so welcoming and helping us with our wraps and even filming us! They even edited the video for us and sent it! I liked how this classes was taught by numbers and not by the traditional Jab, Cross, Hook etc! It was a bit confusing but at the end most of us got it! We had a great sweat and couldn't be more happy that we were able to take this class! We got so much content and I think they did too! So much fun!
