The tech appeared to be operating under a mind altering substance. His speech was so rapid that his words weren't discernible. When he arrived, he was late. He concocted an unbelievable story about being sent to the wrong address and driving on sand and in the water to reach my property. (This property is in town, right off a main fare. It hadn't rained.) He immediately informed me that he had a lot of paperwork to do before looking at the HVAC system and retired to the company vehicle where he stayed for over an hour. When he re-emerged, the guy looked like he'd just had another surge of high. He literally did nothing related to my AC system, his only task. Finally , he left the van and approached me with an invoice, stating that I owed more than the service call due to replacing a part. He flashed the purported part. I reached out and took it. It was brand new, not used. He never even looked at the HVAC system. This company is sending dangerous workers into customers' homes. They were in the news today for taking $12,000 from and elderly couple to fix toilet plumbing issues. The issue was not fixed, and until Andy liscano of channel 6 News got involved, was the plumbing re done by bodine. Originally bodine did not even pull the proper permits to do under the house plumbing repairs and did so the second time and an inspection of the service finally was properly done. I hate to see when elderly couples are taken advantage of. read more

My sister's AC went out last week. Unfortunately, I recommended this company because I have used them in the past. They weren't able to get to her house for 2 days. When they finally got there, they had to tear out a part of her wall where they thought there was a leak, but there wasn't. Then the tech didn't "have the skill set" to solder 3 joints and add expensive Freon to the unit. My sister has already paid $350 for this mess, and they won't be able to come back until Monday because "it's not an emergency." What?? and now there is Beryll headed our way. July 22, 2022 I was charged $350 for an .89 cent gasket. The charge was his travel time to get to my house, then go to the warehouse to purchase the gasket. It took him 5 minutes to replace the old gasket. I am disappointed. I understand you have to make a living, but so do I. The service man smiled all the way to the bank. read more

Built several homes and used them, all my homes are hot and have AC issues. After 5 houses, I'm done. My rentals all have complaints about different levels being too hot. Once in the middle of early fall, my heat and AC was going on AT THE SAME TIME at my primary home and it was literally 102 (see photo) in my home. I'm done with them. My 4th level is so unregulated we can't even use it at all. In the summer it drops to 58 degrees (they said it's the "dump" area for the AC and the winter it's about 91 (see photo) degrees... absolutely ridiculous JUST EXCUSES FOR POOR WORK. It's been 3 years and no correction THEY DO NOT CARE. My rentals are horrible as well, temps are never regulated always hot or cold or AC pipes leaking within months of being installed. How do they stay in business?? Beware!!! They blame this computer system which shows them the best place to put ducts and vents ... WELL IT SUCKS ... must have a glitch because my master bedroom is always super hot, I literally want to sell every home they have done installs in it's so awful. read more

From the first call that I made to this company to the follow up AFTER my unit was installed, I was impressed by the professionalism and "above and beyond" attitude everyone has shown. The sales (?) Tech was prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain the different options available to me. Scheduling was quick and within a few days of accepting the proposal, I had an appointment that worked for my schedule. The installation team was prompt and respectful of my home and tried to work in my requests for wore routing and time constraints. I called this company on Sunday 8/6/23 however no tech was available to come to my home so I scheduled an appointment for Tuesday morning. They came 8/8/23 and tech put dye in the system to try to find leak in my ac unit, charge was $266. They came 8/10 tech couldn't find leak before I had to leave for work at 11am, no charge. They came 8/12, 1 hr 15 mins late, tech didn't know what he came to my home for, he didn't bring uv light to check for leak, used my ladder without asking, then he was looking around in a bedroom with the light on his phone, I asked what he was doing in the bedroom and he said he was looking for the leak, then he left but I have 3 screws missing from my unit & he scratched my unit & he didn't put back fuse outside. No charge. I was trying to call the company when I saw him in the bedroom to get more information on what happens if leak isn't found and to verify tech Able actually worked for them however no one would answer the phone. I ended up texting them and the reply text states that my issue will be forwarded to the manager. On 8/14/23 I called to speak with manager and the manager was out of the office. I was able to verify that the tech did work for the company and was told the manager would call me back. I have not received a call from the manager and have now been without working AC for a week. Hope you don't have an issue with this company because they don't seam to return calls or be able to fix an ac. I recommend not using this company. read more

The entire staff from sales, accounts receivable, permit and inspection coordinators these friendly, kind and understanding folks have removed much of the stress with this project. I did my homework, called at least 5 trades for each of the key elements in this process, Many trades did not even bother to call back and those that did, their quotes were higher without a substantial guarantee. I truly feel based on my research Bodine-Scott is treating us fairly. They responded to our requests in a professional manner and that professionalism continued to their actual work. ZERO STARS! READ ALL THEIR ONE STAR REVIEWS! These charlatans totally botched a $14,000 install that voided my warranty! All of their promises were nothing more than lies. They claimed to be certified by the manufacturer to install my unit. In fact, they only had one person who was certified. The week after my installation, he quit the company, leaving me without anyone who knew how to repair my unit. I hired a professional energy auditor to review their installation. He told me everything about it was wrong. They just threw down a prefabricated pad on top of my old pad and leveled it with wood blocks! WOOD BLOCKS! The unit was oversized. The ductwork was undersized. My air return box was half the size of what it needed to be. The unit was so starved for air it started sucking in humid air from the outside, through my walls, through my addict and around door frames. My home was quickly invaded by mold. The back wall of my den, which was paneling, was totally warped and ruined by the humid air. That cost me thousands of dollars to get it repaired! My hall closet, which is my addict access, was totally overtaken by black mold. The unit sucks hot humid air out of my attic and sweats constantly on the indoor unit. Bodine Scott sent out their "best" tech to look at my unit. He stayed at my house for 10 hours scratching his head, having no idea what he was looking at. They charged me over $500.00 and told me I needed a new part. They said they would order the part and get back to me. THREE MONTHS went by and nobody ever called me! After multiple complaints. Their "best tech" returned to replace the part. Only, he did not replace the part. I had marked it with my initials. He pretended to replace it, said it had been repaired and immediately left. No testing whatsoever to ensure the unit was working correctly. After complaining again. Do you think they apologized to me? No, they told me they had nobody who knew how to repair the unit and they wouldn't be coming out to my home anymore. These people are shysters. read more

All we get is one person blaming the other and not fixing the problem, we need our heater on. The office staff you have to deal with however are straight up disrespectful and horrible. I'm amazed they would employ people like this. DO NOT USE THEM!! They are a Scam!! Read till the end! Our home AC broke early Saturday morning, we called Bodine-Scott that as soon as we woke up and they got someone to come to the house that day. A guy comes to the house to check what's wrong with our AC and he said our motor broke and he would just need to call to get a part, but should be in on Monday. Monday came, we called Bodine-Scott and they said they have the part and someone can come to the house noon on Tuesday. (Mind you, I have a full time job and 2 indoor dogs) Tuesday came and I had requested to be half day at work since Bodine-Scott said they will be there at the house at noon. I rush home to be there by noon, got home at 11am and waited...6pm no one is there so I called Bodine-Scott and told them no one came, the lady on the phone said that the technician was backed up so he will come to the house Wednesday noon. Again, I had to request half day at work. Wednesday arrived, came home at 11am from work and waited..waited..waited.. I called at 4pm and I asked if someone is still coming, the lady on the phone (Melissa) said "the technician is backed up, but he will be there." Ok, so I gave the tech sometime. 6pm...8pm... no one!! So I'm starting to get really annoyed so I call back again at 9:30pm and I let Melissa have it over the phone. I told her that they are not doing good business because I had to request time off from work and I'm losing money and yet they can't tell me an ETA?? So I told her I know exactly how you run your business. They go to peoples houses/business where they can get more money. My AC was under warranty so I only had to pay $170 so they put my house on the bottom of the list. So I said if you don't get someone to the house by tonight (Wednesday) I will go to the local Chanel news station and complain how you run your business. DING! She said she will get someone to the house in less than 1 hour. And to my surprise, someone arrived in 1 hour to fix the AC. I've just had the unfortunately experience in learning a very expensive lesson. Back in 2011, we had to have a new air handling and AC system installed. I decided to go with Bodine-Scott. The proposal was done11/25/11 on 2-part paper. My copy was the BOTTOM copy. On this proposal, the warranty on parts is 10 years. This process was done with a salesman. The installation was completed a week or so later and I was given the installation manual with the Model and Serial numbers already written out. Apparently, I was expected to read this installation manual, although I have now browsed it and still don't see any warranty information. Fast forward JUST OVER 5 years. The motor goes out the day before the coldest weekend of the year. I called Bodine-Scott Friday morning around 10a. I got voicemail so I left a message with my name and number. I waited a couple hours and got no callback. Around noon I call again. Voicemail again. I got frustrated and called another company to come fix it. AAA Air Condition and Heating (remember this name - they are fantastic!), came out pretty quickly. Unfortunately, a part needed to be ordered, but hey - that happens. They got it ordered ASAP so it would arrive Monday morning. However, when they checked with the manufacturer, it was discovered that my unit was not registered after installation so the warranty was therefore only 5 years (remember when I said "just over" 5 years?). Great, no warranty. Part and Labor now $1080. OUCH! I won't say I remember the exact conversations from the sale and the installation on the unit 5 years ago. I CAN assure you that had I known I was supposed to register the unit to validate the warranty, I would've done so before I even filed the paperwork. Yes, I have all product manuals and service invoices filed - I keep it all. When I called Bodine-Scott, they said Yep - customer is supposed to register the equipment or 10 year warranty is NOT valid. My reply, naturally, was nobody told me that little nugget of information. They then said, well it's on the proposal (remember, I have the bottom copy and this was over a week before the installation). I looked at my copy to exactly where they said to look. They seem to be convinced it is there. However, my copy has a bunch of random letters and numbers that appear to be serial and/or model numbers. There is something written underneath that - and I have a picture that I wish I could upload here - but it is handwritten and indecipherable. To make a long story even longer... I asked AAA and also called 3 other random HVAC companies. All 4 said THEY register the unit NOT the customer...4 for 4. I had the bad luck of hiring the one that doesn't. To be a fair review, I will tell you, Bodine-Scott made an "offer" to try and make it right...They offered to fix it for $1,049. A whopping savings of $31. I saved $79 when AAA waived the service call fee and their repairmen were wonderfully polite, professional, and fast. Dear Bodine-Scott, no thanks, never again! read more

Our new system does not keep it 20 degrees cooler from outside....EVER. The owners son Chris never showed up or called the day he was supposed to (or any day after for that matter!). After getting the builder Steve Homes involved, the engineer Bruce came out and preformed a test on the unit and he was supposed to call with his test results by last Thursday, no call received. We have a brand new unit and they DONT CARE AT ALL ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! They only seem to care about "big" jobs. They put in the worst system imaginable. Wrong size duct work for the unit. Airflow is off throughout the house. Terrible company. Do not use them. Please do your research and use anyone else. Bodine Scott installed 2 new Carrier units at my new home in Rockport which we moved into in March 2015. One unit stopped cooling in the hot summer of 2018, this was due to a 50% loss of coolant. I paid Bodine Scott to recharge the system. This worked for a short time but the problem persisted shortly thereafter. The system was then diagnosed as a coolant leak in the evaporator coil and Bodine Scott replaced the coil. This new Carrier coil had a manufacturer defect and this defect caused this unit to drain the condensation onto my hardwood floors, ruining a large area of flooring. Bodine Scott then again replaced the evaporator coil. This coil still works today. Bodine Scott came to my home 8 times to get this right and even sent a flooring man to my home. They promised to fix my flooring on several occasions and failed to even follow through. I then sued Bodine Scott in small claims court in Aransas County and the Justice of the Peace found that I should be compensated for the water damage to my home. Bodine Scott refuses to pay. My floors are still in disrepair. I personally will never use Bodine Scott again or the defective Carrier product that damaged my home. The commercials are BS. If you call outside of their working hours, you only get the answering service. The technician, Julio, was great. What I had a problem with was the fact that the problem was figured out before 2:00 PM, but I didn't hear back from the salesman, like I was supposed to, until after 5:00 and then was told that they'd have to check it out tomorrow when in the office with the computer. I don't know that it was the salesman's fault, he said he just got the msg., but whatever the case the ball was dropped. I knew it would probably be tomorrow before it could be fixed but, now I know it will be at least ANOTHER NIGHT WITH NO AC IN SO TX! Calling other companies for quotes now. read more

(Corpus Christi) My parents were made to wait two weeks for a part to repair the AC. An AC company's entire job centers around having the tools needed to repair these systems. This is unacceptable in every way. They were also promised a call back numerous times over the two weeks that never came. Mine and my husband's AC in our home went out sometime around 12am last Sunday, I called and left a voicemail. I had explained all of my health issues and they called me back and had a man named Able come over to get the AC unit running. Able did get the AC unit and he was in and out of out home our home in 10minutes. I was hesitant to call them back because of the service the Able provided. Low and behold the AC unit started acting up again. I called back and spoke with Brittany and she advised me to shut the AC unit off completely and she would send someone over first thing in the next morning. Sure enough first thing in the morning I received a Text from Thomas (Tommy) and he fixed the AC unit, he didn't rush and he actually took pipes apart to clean them very well. He took the time to explain to my husband and I what he had to do and if we asked him to show us what he was talking about, he didn't hesitate. My husband and I are aware that our AC unit still needs some more work on it done. We have already scheduled and we pray that Mr. Tommy will be the one to finish the rest of the work needed. Not only my husband and liked the way Mr. Tommy did his job on Monday only my in laws did as well and they live across the street caddy corner and even stopped to check on how the AC unit repair was coming a long and they too were very impressed with Mr. Tommy's knowledge. Asked them to inspect and service two condos that we were selling. They charged us $460 ffor what was inspection and service, which included cleaning the coils, checking the freon, etc. We found out that the $460 was for inspection only. I recommend that you find another ac company to use. read more

Not recommended gave 1 star ratting be cause that is owes yelp allows Installed and Carrier AC unit on June 6,2017. My old unit did a better job of cooling house. MY neighbor said unit when it comes on at night would wake them. I have called several times complaining at loud noise from unit. Unit would run all day come to find out that compressor is overheating and shutting down and only interior fan is running. happened all summer house would be up to 81 degrees inside. I made recording of ac running while making noise the tech said, "Sound like a normal unit to me". Another Tech said the problem was with the Nest Thermostat that was in September of last year took nest off-line seemed to work ok but hot part of summer was over. Friday of last week same problem started late afternoon temp climbed to 83 degrees. Called another AC contractor to come out to look at,Tech said "Your compressor is not working it is to hot to touch so it has turned itself off because of over heating. Your compressor is bad the capacitor is good, call Bodine Scott and tell them what I said". called them to day after much heated discussion the will send some one out today to look at. read more

FYI, my little brother Gabriel Villarreal was ran off of the road on Friday Morning at about 11:30 AM 9/14/2018 Located Kostoryz going towards Staples. His vehicle was not because he drove off the road and did a bad curb check. When he called they stated that the individual in charge would call him back on Monday. When he was contacted they basically told him because there vehicle did not come in contact with his vehicle they were not responsible for anything. Please share this with friends and family. BIZARRE. Compared to most people who've reviewed here so far, my story differs in the details but has the same overarching complaints with Bodine-Scott's communication and professionalism. What I wanted from Bodine-Scott: 1) A/C check-up and maintenance (as a preventative--I wasn't having cooling issues) 2) Ductwork checked for leaks or improper fitting or cinching or whatever else might be causing my home to be ice cold on one side and uncomfortably hot on the other. (I had closed the vents on one half of the house to force air into one particular room.) 3) Advice on how to get the house/ducts checked for mold. (A neighbor had warned me that closing my vents might cause mold to form in the attic due to the high humidity, so I was very worried.) What I got from Bodine-Scott: The short version: I got my A/C checked and cleaned (for which I happily paid about $130) as part of a twice-per-year maintenance agreement. Then I got ... nothing. I called multiple times to inquire about my other A/C/duct/air balance/mold concerns. I never received a call back, but I did get two other things: condescension and, oddly, laughter, when I tried to explain the problems I was having. This is how it went: 8/16/16: I call B-S and explain my issues. The lady who answered the phone sets up the appointment for maintenance. 8/18/16: Tech comes to the house and checks A/C and cleans coils. Everything OK, he says. I ask about the other issues. He knew nothing about them. So I explain my concerns. He notes them and says someone will call me the next day (Friday, the 19th) to arrange for someone to come out and check. No call came. I wait 15 days to call back. It's August in South Texas, so I know the A/C businesses in town must be swamped. But ... I was still worried about mold. 8/29/16: I speak with the same lady as before (sorry, I can't recall her name). She seems to stiffen when I let her know politely that I have been expecting a call--but perhaps the tech didn't submit the paperwork. I let her know that the tech had told me that it might be possible to force more air through the ducts without having to go through an expensive analysis. I ask her whether that will be something we can do. She says she has to check with the supervising technician (or something like that). I ask her if I can expect a call from her. She says "yes." 8/30/16: I wait until almost 5 p.m. for a phone call. Didn't get one. I call at 4:43 (according to my phone record), but there is no answer. I didn't leave a message. I was getting the feeling it would be a waste of breath. 8/31/16: It's almost 4 o'clock the next day. Still no call. I call B-S once again, at 3:51 p.m. This time a man named Stuart (sp?) answers. I try to explain the hot/cold problem I'm having and my concern about mold. For reasons I can't fathom, he laughs when I don't know whether I'm referring to "air flow" versus "air balance" issues. My daughter, who heard the conversation over speaker, gave me a "what the hell is wrong with this guy" look. Then Stuart asked me my address as though I were a five year old trying to find my mommy. Lo and behold, the computer was having "technical difficulties" and couldn't help me today. He would be sure to pass along the information to his service tech in the morning and I would receive a call the next day. Right. 9/1/16: By now I knew not to wait around for a call. I called B-S (I like how their initials reflect my feelings on this company) at 2:33 p.m. Stuart answers. I ask if he's heard anything from the tech. No, he hasn't, he says. I explain I'm getting frustrated with not getting called back and that I've been trying to get help for two weeks now. He gives me the well-I-did-my-job routine. No acknowledgement or apology for the company's lapse of professionalism or communication. He did say he believed my call was "important." "Important" enough that it is now 9/8/16 and I still have not gotten a call from Bodine-Scott. Thank goodness, however, there are other companies who are willing to take my money. I called AAA Air Conditioning (they had many positive reviews), whose receptionist was exceptionally polite and understood my A/C problems with no problem. She provided a quote for the diagnostic and went out of her way to accommodate my availability. I'm already impressed. read more

ZERO STARS. I don't like posting bad reviews because they can sometimes be unfair. However, as a business owner I would want to know what kind of company I was dealing with. We consulted this company for commercial installation. They sent a guy out to take measurements etc, who said he'd call us with an estimate as soon as possible. Over a month later (after ignoring my emails asking for an update & not once returning any of our calls), he emailed a RIDICULOUS estimate. 3 times the appropriate cost. Detailing nothing except a laundry list of associated installation costs NOT included in the price. Our impression is that this man didn't return our calls or emails because he didn't have a clue what he was doing. I have serious doubts that he was consulting with anyone to come up with this estimate. I think he pulled a number out of his ass. I am inclined to believe a previous reviewer's comments stating that the person he dealt with told him the business owner was no longer involved and didn't seem to care about the business. So think twice before hiring these folks. The estimate we were given was so ridiculous, you can't help but wonder how many people may have been taken advantage of by these folks. read more

Highway robbers they wanted 315.00 to tape back up the plenum that came loose 1 year and 4 months after they installed it not to mention having to pay 500 hundred dollars for a new coil that failed 1yr and 3 months after install. The re taping of the plenum is a ten minute job. I asked the technician why so expensive he said labor and material. I went and bought a roll of aluminum tape for ten dollars I will do the job myself and never give this company a penny. Forgot to mention that when my coil failed they came out and after 5 minutes determined that I had a leak somewhere and that they would have to charge me another 115.00 on top of the 85.00 service call to go in the attic to look for the leak. Got that straightened out with his boss but I wonder how many people have paid that. read more

I've been meaning to write a review on this company for a while. Our AC broke last year, and right before the July 4th weekend of course. This was a company we had called based on their ads ("... we'll fix it day or night but never charge overtime"), to come out and save us from the sweltering, oppressive corpus heat. So a guy actually did come out, tried to sell us a brand new unit and promised to get back to us with a quote. He never did. Never called us again. Never followed up. Period. So that was our experience with bodine- scott. They didn't fix anything, we never heard from them again. In my opinion they suck. Completely unreliable. The person who actually saved us, did a fabulous job, was honest, reliable and hard working, was Red from Red's Air Conditioning.
