I went here looking to completely change my workout routine. The yoga/tai chi/meditation routines are complete body workouts! The focus on breathing and precision while engaging in the movements makes the mind focus solely on the activity and not wander! Holding a pose is difficult and taxing. It requires complete concentration. The classes are taught by Master Instructors whose expertise is more than obvious. Master Toshi, with whom I take most of my classes, is an extremely professional and talented instructor. He guides the class through every movement with gentle strength. He notices every move and is quick to assist and correct in a positive manner. He is a caring person who challenges us to be the best we can be. Master Danielle is the overseeing eye. She checks in on everyone and is always happy and positive. She makes sure everything runs smoothly. She does initial evaluations as well. They place great emphasis on self improvement and self love, encouraging us to set good goals and take steps to accomplish them. They care about students and show it all the time! read more

I'm addicted!!! I go at least 4 times a week but if I can make each class on Tuesday and Wednesday I'm there. I started last year 2017 November (If my mind serves me right). I had a hip injury in the Military that lead me to have surgery, so when I started I couldn't do alot of positions/stretching like sitting in lotus posture. I could list many more but we will be here forever...lol! Imagine any movement from my hips was pure pain. I can now move without pain but not without discomfort....I have made GRANDE progress BUT I have to keep going to get better. How do you do that you ask?..Smiles.... Hi Everyone, I have been a member for over nine months. The center has done a wonderful job of converting the classes to an online format. They have even added additional classes during the day to fit anyone's schedule. I have been able to take online classes that I would generally not be able to take in person. It has been a wonderful experience. I've been able to grow in physical and mental strength taking the class. I have become more physically fit from the various stretching, yoga, and Tai Chi classes. All the instructors are very skilled and provide excellent guidance. It almost feels like you there in the class but in the comfort of your own home! A little over three years ago I was looking to begin a fitness program that would keep me interested. I was done paying for gym memberships that went unused after the initial motivation wore off and I became bored. I learned about Dahn at a woman's fair and signed up for an introductory class. I've never done yoga and was initially apprehensive since I was tall, overweight and didn't think my body would cooperate. One class was all it took for me to sign up for one month. One month is all it took for me to sign up for one year. One year is all it took for me to sign up for three years. I've never in my life stuck this long to a fitness program. What sets BODY & BRAIN apart from all the other fitness center's is it's not only about your physical well being. What all the other programs lack is the brains well being too. You may ask yourself what does one have to do with the other? It is all connected. The more I trained the more I could really tune in and feel what my body needed. This discovery has heightened my awareness of my own physical and emotional state. Having the knowledge that I am the master of my body and brain is very powerful and has been a turning point in my life at 53 years of age. I enjoy the classes which focus on different parts of your body to improve balance, strength, circulation and stretching. These are integrated with breathing, meditation and energy generating postures to focus inside, to heal our bodies and release the chatter in our busy minds. It is well rounded. This is why this program has been such a success for me. I never left the gym after walking on the treadmill, doing the machines, water aerobics and lifting weights feeling as energetic, bright, relaxed and centered in my thoughts as I do after a class at BODY & BRAIN. I did it! After many years of searching for SOMETHING I like - I found Body & Brain Montecito. I was looking for something to help me relax, stretch my muscles and ease my mind. I've had minor knee pain and now i can breeze down stairs without any pain. Having an anxious personality the only way for me to really relax was invest in a 90 minute massage. Now, I feel I've had a massage when the class is complete.It must be the training on how to breathe correctly and to free my mind of worries.
