Ummmm. I apologize if feedback is disrespectful. . When I arrived, the check in process was clean and easy, and I was greeted warmly. I only had to wait a few minutes in the waiting room before Marisa was ready for my massage. Marisa immediately asked if I was allergic to any scents and/or body products, which I truly appreciated. She then asked if I had any specific concerns or areas I wanted her to focus on. When I told her about my TMJ flare up, she was very responsive. My massage was amazing! She was truly knowledgeable, open to feedback, and made me feel relaxed. After my massage, I went on to my facial. This was my first time ever receiving a facial, so I was super excited for Kaylea to work her magic. However, it turned out to be a rather disappointing experience. First of all, the walls were so thin I could hear every conversation had throughout the building, which made it very hard to relax. Secondly, I thought a steamer would be used, but warm towels were used instead. When she asked me what type of face mask I wanted, I wasn't sure of my choices. The only choice she gave me was the hydrating mask, so that's the one I ended up going with due to my lack of knowledge. While the mask was on, she was on her phone right behind me. It was super awkward... I definitely wish they would leave the room while the mask is setting! My skin felt great afterward, but the entire experience was uncomfortable, and it was so hard to relax! Overall, I probably wouldn't return to Element Day Spa. I don't treat myself often, so I rather pick a spa that really is more relaxing.

We paid $75 (plus a $20 tip to both stylists) who took TWO hours for a stressful up-do that we…read morecould have done at home for free. My 18-year old daughter just wanted to come in for a quick and capable up-do to match the picture she saw. When we had to ask them to do it over (because she was so unhappy), they did, but daughter felt awful and anxious for putting them out and just wanted to leave. She has a million things to do today to prepare! An up-do should NOT take two hours to get right. Last year's experience was identical and also took much longer than it should have. They didn't listen when we told them how fair her hair is. it requires a LOT of hair spray to get curls to stay in place. Now that we are back home, on a humid and drizzly day, the rush just from the car to the front steps (less than five seconds) has made her hair fall completely flat. I am furious that not only was precious money and two hours of our lives wasted, it was all for nothing, and my daughter now feels sick to her stomach that she has to re-curl her hair that put her mother out over $100 when we could not comfortably afford it. I got my wedding hair done there in 1997-that's how loyal a customer I was. They can't even afford quality hair spray, and the beauty stylists told me they provide their own equipment (so they didn't even HAVE a half-inch barrel curling iron). Job supplies can't be written off on taxes anymore, since too many unethical people got that cancelled, and salons still make employees pay for their own supplies? They used a flattener to curl her hair. And had no instant-freeze hair spray. And they made sure I knew that TWO of them were working on my daughter's hair today instead of ONE, which meant I had no choice but tip them both for the TWO-hour colossal waste of our time that has ruined my afternoon and the lovely "getting ready for prom" experience. I will NEVER set foot in there again. AND I want my money back.

I have gone through many stylists since I moved away about 6 years ago. However, if I had my way, I would come home to get my hair done every time. Many of the stylists I have seen since I left the Pittsburgh area charge far too much. And for some reason that I cannot understand, I find that it takes hours more with other stylists than it takes her to do the same heavy low lights and highlights. Kristin is a seasoned veteran in this industry and she knows exactly what she is doing. Although, I found the last appointment to be rather high in price for the time that it took and the rather strange location of the salon, I believe that the price really is worth it for the quality of stylist and the results. I would recommend her for every age, cut, and color.

Parking instructions were clearly given and accurate. We arrived about 20 minutes early, our choice, and relaxed and had water and a complementary snack. We were checked on frequently. Our masseuses greeted us and led us upstairs.( not sure what happens if you cannot climb stairs?) Explained their routine, heated tables and add ons like aromatherapy and back scrub/moisturizer Some small talk but then we settled down to massage. Good hands, pressure and technique. The room was a bit bright but that's about all the bad I could say. We relaxed for a bit in the waiting room and were not hurried. It was near the end of their day and we asked if we could leave the car in the parking lot for our visit and the receptionist said no problem. We made multiple trips to the car and everything was fine. I have had over 50 massages and this one ranked high on my list

I wanted a deep tissue massage but was told I had to do Swedish for my first visit. It was barely any pressure and I left feeling like I didn't really have a massage. The half for back and neck deknotter was a little better but I still listened to comments from the massage therapist about how weird my spine was shaped. Finally, the manicure was okay, but the polish chipped in less than one day--for a gel manicure. I also was surprised that I couldn't use the gift card for tip either. The spa is in a renovated Victorian home and the vibe was actually better than I thought. I still won't be going back after 3 mediocre at best experiences.

After reviewing some options online and making a few phone calls, I quickly settled on Salon La Mae. The reason? I was so impressed with the brief yet thorough consultation I had with the lovely young woman who answered the phone. She asked what I was looking to achieve and quickly recommended the salon owner for my first visit. She even went so far as to give me the owner's private number so I could forward her pics of what my current style looked like and what style I was aiming for. I was told this would better prepare for my initial visit. Nice, right? And I must say, my initial visit was quite good. It was right after COVID re-opening, so many safety protocols were in place. I especially liked how they provided me with a disposable mask so that bleach wouldn't ruin mine. Jamie was very thorough with my consultation and processed my color beautifully. She struggled a bit with my balayage, and I left with more of a highlighted look rather than an ombre appearance, but it was still quite nice. She also struggled some with the flat iron beach wave I requested as far as styling. But not a big deal whatsoever. My biggest complaint was the noise. It's a chatty place and very loud. I like to relax during my salon visits and it's next to impossible to do at this location. The conversation and language could use a slight 'cleaning up' as well. So, onto the following visits. This is where the pleasant waters started to murky some. I called to schedule a root touch-up and was promptly provided an appointment on a Saturday, which I requested due to my work schedule. The night prior to my appointment, I received a text from Jamie stating that she double booked the following day and needed to reschedule my appointment. The soonest she had open was an evening, the following Tuesday at 6:00. Although it was just a few days away and I try to remain flexible, this was frustrating. After a 9-hour workday, I would have to get approval to leave work 15 minutes early and sit at the salon after being away from home all day. So overall, my second appointment was surrounded in unfortunate circumstances and felt rushed once started. Now to my third and final 'attempt' at making an appointment. I called the salon several times one evening to schedule and could not get through. The only option I had was to leave a voicemail for my stylist who would call me back to schedule an appointment. That call never came. I gave it a few days and decided that I should probably admit defeat and move on to another salon. I did and I'm content. Salon La Mae is a laid-back place and just fine for a quick hairstyle needed by a client with a fairly open schedule. Just not for me.
