Shaun is an amazing trainer who's truly passionate about not only making your body goals a reality…read morebut also your mind and spirit. He's knowledgeable about every layer of health, fitness, nutrition, boxing, self defense and layers of mma. I've recommended multiple people to Shaun and they always have an exceptional experience with him. I love training with Shaun and he is a person I highly suggest to others as well. He's personable, makes you feel comfortable, he will not allow you to comprise your form and before Covid he made his group sessions feel like family. Give him a try and I'm sure you will get your body, mind, and spirit goals aligned I've been working with Shaun for over a year now and he's been consistent, great communication and reliable

(This review is for fitness training with David S)…read more I can't recommend David highly enough. As a former college athlete, he brings a deep level of knowledge--not just in building strength and fitness, but also in injury management, recovery, and long-term sustainability. That expertise shows up in every session. As an athlete in my mid-40s with my fair share of injuries and the wear and tear that comes with age and life, David has been very helpful. He has helped me stay consistent, get stronger, and avoid setbacks. What really sets him apart is how attentive and adaptable he is. He adjusts workouts on the fly based on how you're feeling that day, while still challenging you in the right ways. He brings great energy, a positive attitude, and a sense of humor that makes tough workouts enjoyable. And after the workout he takes you through stretches, which is a great way to end the session. It helps me feel calm and restored as I transition to the next thing. Beyond all of that, David is simply a kind, genuine person who truly cares about his clients. It's clear this is more than a job for him--it's his mission.

I've been coming to Evolution Fitness for a few years now and it's been such a positive experience…read more The small class sizes create a real sense of community while still giving you personalized attention. The 6-week programs are structured in a way that makes it easy to track progress and actually see improvement. When I started, I couldn't stand for long periods due to back pain. Now I've built real functional strength and am working toward muscle gain, something that once felt very far away. I take Paul's classes and he's incredibly attentive. He corrects form, offers smart modifications, and makes sure we're challenged every week. His coaching truly makes a difference. Highly recommend if you want structured training, real results, and a supportive environment.

I love these guys. They make you think you're having fun but in reality they're kicking your ass. I…read morenormally take Zumba with them at Crenshaw Yoga & Dance on Tuesday nights. They have great music, cool choreography, and just enough in your face to make for a rewarding workout. This is the class that's getting me back in shape. Last night they hosted Zumba After Dark. A fun burlesque themed class with sexy choreography and a fun atmosphere. Needless to say, today I am sore. Thanks ladies!!

Grounded Werks: You are the lucky winner of my 200th review, hoorayyyyyy!…read more These 2 ladies are GREAT! Seriously, what an inspiration and invaluable asset the community! A couple months ago, a dancer friend of mine told me about a free Zumba class Tuesday nights at 7:30 at the Baldwin Hills Plaza. * Me: Adrianne, are you kidding me?!?! A class in a mall??? Let alone at the Crenshaw Mall? Ummmm, I don't know about that... * Adrianne: No, Jess trust me this class is GOOD! It's like urban Zumba and these ladies be workin it in there! There's younger teenagers and older senior ladies and even some men too! All in there groovin and getting in shape. And it's free too, girl, you can't beat free! Just come! * Me: Ok I'll go with you next week, but look if this is whack and I wasted my gas driving out there, I'm gonna be pissed! * Adrianne: I promise you're gonna love it! And come early because the class is capped at 200 ppl and it gets full quick! Welp, good thing I didn't bet my last dollar with my dear Adrianne. I LOVED it! Loved, loved, loved it! If you've read my reviews for Island Groove you'll know that I don't mess around when it comes to class that offers a good workout. In fact, I can't stand a wimpy class that doesn't make me sweat buckets or make my thighs tremble. Mychele and Debi do a great job of making us drip sweat, burn calories, laugh, and keeping the crowd motivated. The class is seriously fun, and its follow-the-leader style so even if you have 2 left feet you can keep up. When was the last time you did some belly dancing, merengue, soca, salsa, samba, booty-poppin, and 'black' cha-cha all in the same hour!?! Let alone heard "Tootsie Roll" and "Tambourine" followed by a cool down to Goapele and the Isley Brothers. This is the type of fun and energy they bring to every class! I also appreciate that its not just effortless two-stepping and booty shaking. No, this is a real workout folks! There is toning and cardio and real WERK going on here! I've been back a few times since and every time I leave feeling so much better....plus I'm a little sore the next day. Mychele and Debi also teach at various other gyms/studios around the LA area (UFC Gym in Torrance), and other classes too in addition to Zumba. What I admire the most about this class is what I thought would make it whack when I first heard about it: It's free and in the Crenshaw mall! Honestly, I remember being a kid shopping at that mall and have seen it go from bad to worse. I clearly recall watching the looting and seeing neighboring businesses burn in the '92 LA Riots. The fact that they are offering this class for FREE to a community that needs something healthy and uplifting to do is truly inspiring. Anyone can go, and everyone does go! Its adorable to see even the little kids waiting up front while their mommies are in the class get up and start to follow and dance along too! What a good way to show the importance of exercise from a young age! You really feel the community love and spirit in the building and its a beautiful thing. Thank you, Mychele and Debi for helping to make fitness and exercise a more doable part of so many of lives!

They even have a Brazilian jujitsu studio next to the main workout area. I really like how open this space is. It's clean and both self contained and spacious at the same time. They also have this really cool indoor-outdoor concept where some of the group classes are held in the back patio. Megan did a great job offering corrections during yoga sculpt without being invasive or aggressive. For my disabled friends, the women's bathroom has an accessible shower with a built-in seat and railing. I imagine the men's bathroom has one too.

Been meaning to write this review since I signed up at the end of May…read more This gym strikes the perfect balance of intentional, multi-disciplined athletic performance and a relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere. The problem in LA when you're looking for a gym is: 1. The gyms in your vicinity are corporate owned and the clients range from disrespectful to arrogant, or all of the above. 2. The gyms have quality control issues, unhygienic, and unmaintained equipment and/or facilities 3. Charge exorbitant rates for basic elements every gym should have (high price = absolute bellend customers who wish they could be at the Bezos wedding). This gym takes care of all three of those and then some. Having met and chatted with Dakota, Eric, Grace, and Brett (some of the gym's amazing staff), if the facilities don't convince you this is the most well balanced, INDEPENDENTLY OWNED gym in LA, these guys certainly will. They are so bloody friendly and make the atmosphere feel great. To your continued success and expansion GymTonic

The good: Staff is super kind and the studio is very clean and spacious…read more The neutral: if you've done reformer anywhere else and that's what you're looking for... this might not necessarily be for you. It feels more like Pilates Mat. Of the classes I've tried, almost half the time we were on the mat. Again... it's still a workout but it's not really the reformer experience I'm used to. So depends on what you're looking for The not so good: the instructors basically stood/sat in one place the whole class. Did not walk around to see or correct anyone. During a couple of the exercises I noticed I was doing something completely different because I was at the end of the class and couldn't see her and she hadn't even come over to correct me. They don't give you any context as to what the options are (I.e we are doing leg so if you want heavier do this spring if you want lighter do that spring...) I was sort of doing a trial and error. But what really bothers me is that they start the cool down when there's still 12-13 minutes left in the class. That's more than enough time to get another exercise in and then cool down and stretch. I will continue to go to the classes cause I bought the package and because it's so close to me but again... it's not your typical Pilates reformer.
