I go here primarily to get my brows done with Rebekah. It's been a long while since I've been able to find an esthetician who does a consistently good job at waxing and shaping my brows. My brows grow a certain way that makes them difficult to shape properly. I've had my brows butchered by threading (never again!) and waxing at numerous other salons. I am relieved to find Rebekah because she's cautious and skilled. I especially like her because she allows me to close my eyes and relax and doesn't feel the need to carry on a conversation with me the entire time. I was in desperate need of a haircut. My layers disappeared and I was experiencing an overwhelming fro. I moved here from Las Vegas and had only had one haircut since, which was done by an Aveda student/friend of mine because I modeled for them and they owed me a trimming after all the back-combing they had to do. I do not trust people with my haircutting. Too many bad experiences and "you get what you pay for" did not mean a thing to me when it came to haircuts. I searched all over for a close salon that didn't seem like a mad house. When I walked in to Body Salon I knew this is where I wanted my hair taken care of. It's small, clean, modern and no one was running around with their kid screaming. I've been going to Body Salon and Spa for many years. Kim is my stylist but I've also seen Javaise occasionally, and both of my teens get their haircut and styled here as well. I love how well thought out the entire visit is. Before Covid19, you would get greeted warmly when you enter, and offered a drink...coffee, juice, soda, wine. You sit down and discuss your hair, then they get to work. Friendly conversation always. The hair stylists keep notes on your previous visits, which I find super helpful. They really shine during this pandemic. They take things very seriously. The salon is immaculate. They have great safety protocols in place. I feel very comfortable coming in, and I'm very conservative about what I do while dealing with Covid19. If you are looking for a friendly and skilled haircut, color and style, you should definitely give them a call. They are awesome. read more

Another 6 weeks have passed and it was time for another cut and color with Kim. Prior to Kim I had the same hair stylist for 10+ years. When I moved to Portland, I tried several places before I found someone I wanted to devote my hair attention to. Now I wouldn't go to anyone else! I decided to change it up again and go for an all over color. I told him I wanted to do something with a little red in it, so she brought out her book. We looked at the colors and talked a little. The best part about Kim is that she can kind of read between the lines. When I was looking at the colors and couldn't decide exactly which one I wanted she said "well, we could start out just adding a hint of red and work in more next time you come." PERFECT! A few days have passed and I've had time to live with my hair. I love it! The color is great and it made my hair look shiny. And it covered up the grey, which is always important. Kim is amazing and I will continue to go to her as long as she is around. read more

If I could, I would give this place zero stars. I went in, with a PICTURE of my cut, which is unique, but not difficult at all. I explained exactly what tools to use where to get the look, and she butchered it. Well, I thought, this isn't my metropolitan hometown, this is Hillsboro, give her another chance. What a mistake on my part. Now, she KNEW the first time that she didn't cut it how I had asked, no discount offered, nothing. But the second time, when she STILL didn't do as I asked, and she KNEW it...and she knew that she had cut BALD SPOTS into the back of my head, and never offered a discount or even a profuse apology. All she said was "I'll work on it next time. I think I've got it now." Wow. I'm seriously thinking I need to call the board of cosmetology, especially when I see that others have had their hair left in shatters from this yelp board. This woman thinks she knows it all, and I can tell she has no up to date training. If she is going to training, she's not paying attention. I generally try to have some humor in my posts, but in this case, I really can't, as I think that people need to be warned...I can only imagine if she left me with bald spots what she does with color. Do yourself a favor if you want to keep your hair....don't go to Body. My hair has only now, after four months, grown out enough I can seek out a new stylist. I'm going to be VERY careful in my selection this time! read more

Whenever I'm feeling the need for some hair therapy, I head to Body Salon in Hillsboro. I've lived throughout Oregon and have tried many salons, with this I would have to say that Body Salon is one of my favorites. I always see Kim and she is a definite joy to be around. The conversation is always great and she always cares to hear your hair ideas, whether it's a new look or just a little maintenance. I always trust her for cuts and adding a bit of highlights and color. If you're looking for something dramatic, she will take the time to work with you to ensure that you love the transformation. The price is very reasonable, plus they also offer free bang trims, who can beat that? The salon is located outside of Portland in Hillsboro, just off of Cornell Rd. on NE 25th (down the road from the Intel campus). It's a small house with just enough parking for the salon, about 4-6 spaces. The experience is very personal and relaxing as there is only enough room for two stylists, two customers and maybe a few guests (if you happen to bring someone with). They were accommodating when it came to scheduling the appointment (Saturday appt), but it's always best to call in advance just in case :) read more

A lot of people have said lovely things about Kim and Body Salon in Hillsboro. I have to agree; they couldn't be more accurate. As others have said, Kim is a wonderful stylist. She is good at what she does and loves it. She is so concerned with going above and beyond with her clients, that you almost feel as though you're taking advantage! I really love that she never makes you come out of your comfort zone, until you're ready. I am very specific about how my bangs are trimmed. Where other stylists before Kim have told me to cut them another way or give in to that pesky cowlick, she cuts them exactly how I ask. (AND, she tells me if they're still not quite right, to come back and she'll trim them up for free!) I am so glad I found this salon. For many years I have relied exclusively on Body Salon for all my hair services, about every 5 weeks... Kim has a magical way of making everyone feel so welcome and comfortable that it's a treat to walk in and get pampered by her and her friendly team. She is also technically adept at what she does. I love her eye to perfection and seemingly endless energy to answer questions about all things hair. I love that she keeps notes for consistency and continuity, which means I don't need to remember details. The Services I've received from the other stylists at Body Salon are also superb. Kim is an exceptional hair stylist! Not to mention she's super sweet & professional! She takes pride in her work and really takes the time to talk to her clients about what they want. She's very detailed & helpful in suggesting what will make your vision come true. I am so lucky to have found her on Yelp. We lost touch when she left Ritual Hair and opened Body Salon but through some Internet research we were able to get reunited. She's a bit further out on the Westside but is great with accommodating with your schedule. Also, prices are very reasonable. If you're looking to try a new stylist, I highly recommend Kim, you won't be sorry! I've been coming here for the past year or so, and I really love the owner, Kim, as she does an extensive and thorough job with my hair every time I see her. I knocked off a star because no one ever gives good scalp massages! Gahhh I know I could ask for one, but it feels awkward to ask for it when it's kind of implied that you'll receive one. I get that people have busy lives and they need to get in and out, but I look forward to going to the salon because I know I will get an awesome scalp massage with a haircut. If they changed this, and added even a 2 minute scalp massage, I would change my review to 5 stars for sure! I once booked in advance for a cut and color, and was a bit irritated when a (different) stylist told me she didn't have time for balayage style highlights. I wish I would have known in advance that it took extra time, because I ended up going with two toned all over highlights which wasn't actually what I wanted. I guess I felt pressured to make a decision on the spot and wanted some sort of color so I just went with what I could. I haven't checked their website recently but I don't recall that it specifically called out balayage or ombré or regular highlights as separate items needing separate amounts of time. I would recommend this for their website for sure! Otherwise, it is easy to schedule with the front desk, and they schedule via email as well which makes my life easier as I am always at the computer or on my iPhone. In fact, when I get done writing this review I will probably book an appointment with them. If they could also offer online appointment booking that would be awesome too! read more

So far, so good. Only been here once, but it was a good experience. The joint is a bit small, but that doesn't mean quality is bad. Let's face it, Great Clips is very roomy, but you don't always get the greatest stylist when you visit this chain. My stylist took the time to listen to what I wanted, and got my approval before doing anything radical. I was a little nervous when I saw my hair getting shredded with scissors sliding seemingly haphazardly through my hair. And while the end result isn't as neat and pretty I as I am used to, the edgy look I got is very nice and something I think I could get used to. I have had nothing but compliments about my hair and I have been able to style it with ease. My stylist was very nice and took what I considered a great deal of care in making sure I walked out happy and looking good. While the price is higher than a cut at a chain shop, the service is ten times better. I got a wash, cut, and style for about $50. read more

I have nothing but good things to say about Body Salon. The first time I went, I got Javaise and she did an amazing job. I have long, thick, layered hair and was in desperate need of a trim, and she was flawless. I booked this week and Javaise was not available, but I got Rebekah and just another wow. She consulted with me through every step of the cut (I'm super picky after a couple of bad experiences with other salons) and was very friendly. She recommended taking 6" off and while I was kind of hesitant (that's half a foot!), the result was amazing. I can barely see the layers, they blend in so perfectly, and my hair is still as long as I like it to be (mid shoulder blade/upper back instead of lower back) but without the flyaway edges. She styled it flat to make sure everything looked right and assured me if I wanted to make any changes, like opt for face framing, I could call and she'd take care of it. \o/ I also have to commend the front office staff. They are always prompt, offer something to drink (they have Diet Coke, my occasional sin), schedule in advance. I can think of a few salons who should invest in such a welcoming and efficient staff. Body Salon has hands-down consistently been my favorite salon experience and they don't charge an arm and a leg. Also, their workstations are amazing, flip the chair around, get your hair washed, flip the chair back around, get a nice thick towel, no need to walk dripping around the salon. There are three stations in the room and huge lovely windows. I suppose the one downfall is that you can sometimes hear the conversation of the stations next to yours (I was third station, furthest from the door) but it didn't really interfere with the conversation we were having. I don't do color or mani/pedis and can't comment on those, this is wash and cut only. read more

This place is where I go for hair cut since I moved to Portland . Referred by a friend and working good for me . It's hard to get appointments during week ends or holiday season . This place is closed Sunday Monday. I recently got hair cut and half highlights . Rebecca was my stylist for this visit , I always done my hair with stylist Kim previously. It's definitely an expensive place but i style once a year so works good for me . My appt. was at 10 am Tuesday , I walked in , I got welcomed with a coffee .the stylist talked through more about the hair color that I want to choose with a booklet , since I m doing it for the first time. I chose medium red color and half highlights (6 streaks) I added 4 streak for 5$ each so it costed me 57 $ for highlights. Then the hair cut I choose was just layers n some bangs in the front . (45$) . She started with hair color n then haircut . It took 1 hour 30 min for both . I liked what she did to my hair . The only cons would be that they have to do everything in your appt. window , so they rush us sometime or if they are overtime they leave your hair wet n we have to dry at home. I was looking for a good, decently priced hair stylist near my home. I called Body Salon and was greeted by Denise, who was very friendly and professional. She was able to get me in a next day appointment, which is great! I saw Rebekah, who asked all the right questions and didn't do anything until she was completely sure of what I wanted. She was great to talk to and did an amazing job with my hair, I love it! She also let me know that since I have curly hair, it sometimes hides things, so if there's anything wrong, to give them a call and they'd get me in for a quick fix-up. She even let me know that if I do decide to get some bangs, to come in soon and she'll take care of it, with free bang trims. I personally hate bangs, but if I didn't, how awesome is that! The place itself was very clean and well kept. I love that you didn't have to sit in a separate area to get your hair washed before your cut. Just sit, relax, enjoy the nice conversation, and leave with a great haircut, without having to pay an outrageous amount. Doesn't get any better than that! read more

When I moved from California to Hillsboro, Oregon, over two years ago, I was lucky enough to find Kim at Body Salon. She was the first hair stylist I'd gone to in Oregon, and she will be my last. Every haircut she has given me has been phenomenal, and even when I was growing out my hair she still managed to give me a great "in between" cut. She also weaves my hair, and does an amazing job every single time. I always leave Body Salon feeling great about my hair, and how I look. Kim is the first stylist I've ever had who has taken the time to really talk to me about what you want in a cut and color. She's incredibly professional, and I enjoy the time I spend in her chair being pampered. The conversation is always lively and a lot of fun, and the salon itself is casual and comfortable. Kim also cuts both of my daughters hair, and they love her, too. My girls always go for something "funky", (i.e, spikey, faux hawks, etc.), and she always manages to give them exactly what they want. Rebekah was my stylist; she's friendly, makes you feel comfortable and at ease, and is fun to talk to. Wow! Not sure what happen with Betty V but, I have been going there for the past year and a half and swear I will never go to another place ever. I am in my 50's and have struggled with what to do with my hair for awhile. When I walked into Body Works they were so helpful in asking me all the right questions. I walked out of there feeling like a new person! People actually STOP ME and ask who does my hair. Pictures are ok to get an idea but, not all of us have either the right kind of face or hair for the pictures cut. And who the heck tells a stylist what tools to use? I got my haircut there yesterday by Rebekah, and it was fabulous. She was friendly, and had extremely good chair side manner. My cut was rather simple, but it was performed to perfection. This is by far the best salon I have ever been to. I have been to quite a few salons in Hillsboro and been dissapointed, but Body Salon has exceeded my expectations. They are so friendly and worked really hard to get me into their schedule the same week I called for my first appointment. Renee, the receptionist at Body Salon, does an amazing job of reminders for appointments, and calling if you any times open up that might work better my schedule. I would recommend Kim to anyone who is looking for a great stylist. She really knows her stuff! I came in wanting to make a drastic change and she was confident in her abilities to help me achieve my look. She had so many fun ideas for my color and style that I would have never thought to do. I needed a salon closer to Hillsboro and saw the great reviews for the Body Salon so I made an appointment with Kim. She was awesome. She took time to really explain everything she was or wasn't doing and why and made sure I was happy. I was cutting my super long hair and also adding bangs and she went little by little until I was happy. I took my three year old daughter to see her after that and she was awesome with her as well. She was so sweet and was making sure my daughter wasn't scared and was happy with her hair. They also offer free bang trims. read more

Salon price. Great Clips cut. Actually, that's slightly unfair to Great Clips - they can cut bangs mostly straight. Mediocre blow dry with plenty of frizz still untamed. Granted my hair is difficult; but most salons charging $40 and more can defrizz much better without resorting to a flat iron. read more
