I got a manicure there two weeks ago (extension, builder, mermaid polish and chrome) the manicure was nice and my technician was very kind. I went back for removal and my experience was completely different. My nails have never looked worse. I'm pretty sure my nails were filed down too much and they look damaged in some areas. Also, i now understand that the removal service doesn't include a manicure but a bare minimum of shaping doesn't seem like a reach. All my nails had different "shapes" some were left very square while others were more rounded. I do a better job when i cut my nails myself! Wow, this place is so pretty! I love the hanging chandeliers and faux plants as well as the real plants that add beautiful pops of green and vibrancy to the all-white space. And space there is, this place is huge, with lots of pedicure and nail stations and they even have a large fish tank. There was upbeat music playing but the vibe was still peaceful and relaxing. This might be the largest nail salon I've ever been to. Oh and they have HUGE tv screens! I've never been to a nail salon that has TVs! Is it necessary, no, but then again maybe it is necessary?! I made a same day appointment for the afternoon. I arrived early and was assisted right away. Because it was my first time I didn't know how to check in using the self-service kiosk, but a staff member promptly greeted me and helped me out. I'm a simple pedicure girlie so I just wanted basic white polish and I chose the classic pedicure service which includes a sugar scrub and hot paraffin wax. If a walk-in comes before your scheduled appointment and they're ready to spend-even with an appointment you will wait. My last visit here my appt was 45 past appt time -was offered zero compensation even though I was 10 mins early out of respect. The techs absolutely do an amazing job, but the prices and customer service will have you running for the hills. Have encountered few salons who up charge the way they do. You cannot up is the for cateye and the cost is double what a bottle of cat eye polish even costs -if your pedi color needs a base color- they charge for that. Called first for prices and reserved a mani/pedi with acrylics. When I got there the price was double what I was quoted-$300! I ended up just getting a basic pedi and leaving. I don't splurge on this kind of stuff often but am going on vacation so I wanted my nails to look nice. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Also when I told the nail tech that I couldn't afford them because the price wasn't what I was quoted she did the pedi and just left me in the chair, with the toe separators on my feet, and went to work on someone else. The nail techs are talented and they have a wide color selection to choose from. However; I absolutely cannot stand shady business practices. I've never paid the same price for the same service- prices listed are never what I end up paying even with solid color, no design, short nails, bringing my own nail kit. The woman at the front desk is great at making up what the added charges are for, saying it can be that price "and up". I was under the impression that it would only go up if I got extra things, but no - it just depends on what they feel like charging that day. I have spent the last year getting acrylic gel manicures and gel pedicures at Angel Nails & Bar. It is conveniently located to my home and to Intel. At first, I appreciated the vibe was casual and courteous. I like that there is a host/hostess available at all times to greet, help choose nail colors, and handle appointments separately from paying at the end of the service. However, over time I have consistently paid more at this salon than any other in the area I have frequented in Portland, Beaverton, and Hillsboro, and receive the poorest quality in nail polish application and full set acrylic removal and application. I always bring a reference photo and sometimes pick colors ahead of time. Every time I go in for a full set, I'm assigned a technician who cannot understand me well (despite me speaking English/Spanish/Mandarin). I try to explain or show exactly what I want, and still leave disappointed. Additionally, the technicians regularly rush, damaging cuticles, and pressing too hard with e-filing. This has left my nails brittle, thinned, and prone to breaking -- even when I take breaks from acrylics. During the last pedicure, I had informed the technician that my toenail had broken more than halfway down the nail bed, and she forgot and nearly ripped it off. I had to ask her to glue it twice, and she ended up painting a glob of gel on it. It was incredibly difficult and painful to remove later. Today was the last straw. I asked for a double moon French manicure (very simple) and the technician wanted to charge me an extra $45 on top of the ~$100 cost for full set plus removal. Reluctantly, I agreed to something simpler instead. Her execution was poor: the French tip was uneven, the sides left bare. I asked for touchups. She was upset, rushed them, and by then I just gave up and left. Also: be aware they charge $2 for a set of nail files. The manager claimed that "this is Oregon law." That is NOT true. Oregon law requires that disposables like nail files, buffers, sponges, etc. be given to the client or discarded after use on a client -- salons cannot make you purchase them every time. (OAR 817-010-0069 / OAR 817-005) Oregon Secretary of State Bottom line: Angel Nails & Bar is overpriced, sloppy, disrespectful, and misleading about what's legally required. I've been coming to Angel's for almost 10 years and the service was always great. Today was awful and I don't say that lightly. I had a nail that had split and asked to have it repaired, she did so with acrylic, it wasn't shaped on top and I had to ask several times for the tip to be reshaped. It's significantly bulkier and a different shape from my other big toe now. There is dirt left under my nails and I was told "that's just your skin"...last time I checked my skin isn't dirt colored. My service provider didn't exfoliate the balls of my feet or my toes and didn't massage my feet. When I asked if it was a foot massage or just legs she said she did my feet too. Ma'am I have feeling in my feet and I can say they weren't touched. Really a let down of a visit. read more

I moved to the area 3 years ago from out of state and I've really struggled to find a nail salon that I love. I typically get acrylics with a design, and I've had other salons in the area butcher my natural nails or charge a crazy high price for lackluster results. I've been to Angel Nails a few times now and each visit I leave thrilled with my nails and my experience! I've seen a different tech each appointment and all of them have been both very lovely and extremely talented. They do high quality nails for what I think is a reasonable price. The look of the salon is gorgeous and very clean. Comfortable pedi chairs are a big plus. I make my appointments ahead of time and I've never had to wait beyond my scheduled time when I come in. The technician that did my nails, had to get assistance from someone else to file them because each of my nails on one hand had a different shape by the time she was done filing them. She clipped my skin twice on my left hand when doing my cuticles. One of my fingers doesn't even have the clear polish all the way down to the base. I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure with a plain polish color no design. I have been going to my nail technician in California for 8 years before moving here and the price I had to pay today is the price that I would pay if I were to get a gel manicure WITH a design and a regular pedicure. It is way overpriced for the lack of quality that they provide. I also don't enjoy my skin getting clipped twice and having my nail bed bleeding and burning. As you can see in the picture, the clear polish doesn't even go to the bottom of my nail, so each of my nails has a little bit of polish that does not have clear polish over it. I will never be coming back A gel manicure and regular pedicure (with NO design) came out to $91. Absolutely insane. This is the 8th nail salon. I visited in Portland over the last two years because no one can seem to do a gel manicure that last longer than a week and a half. I'm really easy-going and don't normally speak up because it's always an awkward situation speaking up in nail salons and I never want to cause an issue. I'd rather just not go back then cause an issue. However, today I needed to write a review because it was horrible. They should've at least taken off a few dollars for how she clipped me twice. One of my nailbeds was bleeding. As a first time customer, I was IMPRESSED. I spent a total of 3.5 hours in this salon and it was worth it! I booked an appointment to receive a full set and pedicure before my vacation. With that said, my expectations for the outcome was high given that these would be my birthday nails, and I've read amazing reviews prior, along with seeing great pictures of their work. Upon entering the salon , I was amazed at how massive and beautiful the salon was! It definitely gave luxurious vibes from their decor. I received my pedicure first, and it was both outstanding and relaxing. The chairs were comfy, and I enjoyed the massage feature. The woman that performed my pedicure took very great care of me, and took her time with the experience. Not to mention she gave an amazing massage which was the cherry on top! I got basic white toes, however, the outcome was clean and perfect. Soon after, I moved areas to receive my acrylic full set. I came in with an inspiration pic that was quite intricate in hopes they could recreate it. Unfortunately, the woman (a different nail tech) explained she didn't have the proper tool to achieve what I was looking for. Although I was disappointed, it wasn't the end of the world, and I had other inspiration pics that I had in mind as a Plan B. We ended up doing a French white tip with a 3D design on a coffin nail. Let me tell you...it came out wayyyy better than I imagined! She did such an amazing job recreating the picture I showed her and I fell in love with it! This woman has such a keen eye for design, and she matched the colors perfect to the picture. Unfortunately, I find the gel manicure to not last more than a week. The nail polish would lift at the base of the nail. If this is a one off incident thats one thing, but when it happens a couple times, it's too expensive to get gel manicure to only last a week when it should be a couple. I've had gel manicures at other salons that would last over two weeks, so much so you can see my nail grow, but the polish would still be on. I'm not sure if it's the polish they use, the quality because I didn't pay for an upgrade, it's not the nail technician because each time I have someone else. Chose this place because of the beautiful atmosphere with lots of plants. Unfortunately the service didn't match the environment. I scheduled a first-time appointment for a shellac manicure with my daughter. After checking the prices online, I was surprised to receive a final cost which was much higher. When I inquired why the prices didn't match, they told me the colors we had selected were an extra cost, and they charged us $2 for a nail file kit. None of these extra costs were listed on their website for greater transparency. In addition, our nails did not look at all like the original colors we picked.
