The front desk employee called two women from the office who were eating and gossiping before helping us. When one of them finally assisted us, she said my friend couldn't work out because she "wasn't in the system." We showed her the screenshot of the guest pass, which clearly did not list any time restrictions. Instead of explaining or helping, she offered a one-day pass for $40. I asked if my friend could use my guest pass, and she said no because it "wasn't done," and that my friend couldn't work out at all. We left and later came back to try again. I admit I should've asked for a manager earlier. Accused me to "sneak in" when I literally tried talking and did everything right since the beginning. When we returned, the manager treated me like I was doing something wrong and immediately said my friend could not work out. I asked her to show me where in the policy it states you must arrive before a certain time. Her response was, "Google it." I then asked for the corporate number or someone above her, and she said, "I'm the manager, Kim." I did tell her gas isn't cheap, and nowhere on the pass did it state any time restrictions. The entire interaction felt dismissive, unprofessional, and honestly like we were being racially profiled. Save your time and money. Terrible customer service and very rude staff. The manager was rude and actually threaten me (an elderly black women) because I wanted to discontinue a membership that l started online for my son. The manager actually told me what I could not do with my debit card which was used to pay my son 's membership. He (manager on duty at the time) refused to give me the cancellation paperwork due to the color of my skin and he treated me like l was a criminal. I honestly thought that they were going to attack me!! Thank God that the San Antonio police arrived on time (l called them). They quickly advices me that this may be an issue that should go to court. They empathized with me and in general felt that the business was wrong for their negative decisions-making at the time. It is clear that gold's gym is actively going against state laws that protect gym members and people who pay for memberships by using unfair and deceptive practices. In my case the gym has denied a paying customer (black female) the right to cancel a membership.These actions by the gym is considered to be against the law. The Gold's gym attempted to circumvent state law by telling me that l would have to have my son present to cancel the membership that my card was paying for...as if l was under the control of my male son!! These actions sounds like arabic law instead of U.S business practice and clearly shows DISREPECT for women! The situation was so strange because l was the one who created the account online from my phone for my son!! I had given a promise to pay for two months at the gym for him and then l was expecting him (son) to continue to pay on his own which was a fact that was agreed upon between the both of us ( mother and son). The Gold's Gym employee and manager threaten me and they would not allow any transactions....they further stated that they would take as much money out of my account as they wanted and they invited me to call the police if I wanted to. I honestly felt like l was in Mexico or in a foreign country because I was the only black women in the location. They laughed at me and waited for the arrival of the police to tell lie (s) to them. What a nightmare!! This is a terrible gym location. Anyone who resembles people of the african american culture should not use the gym for services because simply put they don't have any respect for people of that particular race in that gym. I believe corporate should quickly get involved by removing and revoking the franchising license at this location. If the location is receiving any (PPP) loans..that too should be revoked. Please stay away from that place...it is not worth it. Also never use any type of credit or debit cards that is attached to your accounts in this establishment. Use prepaid , loaded cards or cash only. You will need to remove your more important valuble cards away from this particular business as soon as possible. These are the types of organizations that will actually sell your personal information for profit and they can cause you to suffer fraudulent attacks from all over the world . This is the reason why they (the Gold's gym) will give you such a hard time when you want to cancel a membership. Omg it is so obvious! If you decide to use your cards... expect your money to be forcefully taken with no prospect of a return. Now.. l will have to go to the bank and change my card numbers to stop them from stealing from my account. You should really stay away from this place. If you are older don't even think about it...!! IT IS A GYM THAT IS TERRIBLE AND THEY ARE HIGHLY DISREPECTFUL TO WOMEN OF COLOR!! JUST DON'T TAKE A CHANCE WITH THIS LOCATION AT ALL!! It is easy to see this reflected by his staff and through that had been developed in this gym.
