Another beautiful day here in La$ 1/16/21 My wife got her hair done by Janet McMahon and I got a massage from "I-Chin", spelling might be incorrect, sorry. Not sure what the protocol is when you arrive but here's what my wife did. Of course we had an appointment; my wife called Janet, she met us at the front door and walked us back to her station. "I-Chin" then met me in Janet's station --which is decorated in pink-- and my aching body was on it's way to nirvana. I apologize, there's no pics of my wife's awesome hair coloring (not sure on the terminology) and cut. Janet did a great job and my wife couldn't be happier. Janet has the passion of her craft and it shows by her commitment to perfection. Also, my massage was one of the best I've experienced in my 30++ years. ;) "I-Chin" has the "magical hands", she doesn't just go thru the motions, she actually can feel the knots in your muscles. When I had to cancel my March appointment because I was self-quarantining, my regular stylist told me she had just moved to the Body Spa Salon. Six months later, it was way, WAY past time for a cut and color, but when I texted her to set up an appointment, she told me she moved back to Colorado. But she recommended another hairdresser there, Janet McMahon. I've been absolutely nowhere since March, except for a couple of necessary dental and medical visits, so naturally, I was a bit nervous. Janet assured me of safety, letting me know that she has her own little room there, and is properly sanitizing everything. Not only does she have her own space, it's a welcoming, calming atmosphere, and she has her own sink, too. Also something I've never seen before: it looks like an old-fashioned bubble hair dryer, but it's actually a steamer, designed to add moisture to hair while the color's taking hold. I should have brought along all those summer tops that I haven't gotten to iron - from last summer, because who needs clothes when you're not going anywhere? It was relaxing, too. After all this time with my hair getting ignored, I was not going to be too picky. I just wanted it off my face and have my beautiful color back. Turns out I didn't have to be. Had a keratin treatment with Lauren. She was fantastic! If you are looking for someone skilled but not ridiculously overpriced, look no further! Lauren was great! You can tell she is extremely knowledgeable and good at what she does. She was easy to talk to and engaging throughout the process. She explained the "dos and dont's" of the treatment and thoroughly reviewed the after care and maintenance. She could have easily rushed through the process since I had prepaid but she took her time to make my hair look great. I already booked my next appointment. I have never in my life been to a hairdresser that is capable of these actions. I made an appointment, never received a confirmation but whatever. I meet lauren, reeking of cigarette smell and she is so shut offish I was there for 4 hours and she did not converse at all even after multiple times trying to start conversation. Just bad customer service all around the only time she talked was to ask me what color I wanted or to charge me extra for something. This is where it gets bad I asked for long curtain bangs. Lauren already had my hair parted and seconds before I reiterated that I do not want them short. She of course cuts them excessively short, at that moment I expressed that it's not what I wanted and she was like "too late can't do nothing now" not an apology NOTHING! At this point I don't trust her cutting the rest of my hair so I told her to just blow dry it. I'm in the chair about to cry bc how bad I look, in the end I ask her "so am I done?" Lauren responded yes and I said "wow you think this looks good" she said she wasn't going to go there with me and now our appointment is done. She told me to get out of her chair and started screaming. I left to the front office where she followed me bc I was looking for the owner and kept screaming. Some other lady told me the owner isn't there but regardless the owner would direct me to Lauren. So unprofessional. She does not deserve to cut people's hair. Please beware this lady is a horrible human being. Edit: it's been a week since incident, still very upset I emailed the salon and no response, kinda disappointed and disgusted that this is how they do business. This will be my first negative review I've ever left since joining Yelp. I hope the management at Body Spa Salon cares enough to improve itself. I've been coming here well over a year to have bi weekly mani/pedi because it happens to be where my nail tech works. The music and general atmosphere gets a Zero from me. Without exception the music is anything but relaxing. Most times, there are several young boys playing video games on the unoccupied pedicure station. Why don't their mothers, whoever they are, get babysitters for them? This is suppose to be a relaxing, beautiful and restful experience. It never is. How my nail tech can stand it I don't know. Just today, she has requested the 80's disco music be turned down to a manageable decibel. To no avail. Cleanliness is fine, and there's always easy parking. The place where I normally get my nails done wanted me to wait five hours, so I tried my luck by walking in and the front desk woman was really helpful in finding someone who had time to squeeze me in. When I first walked in this place, my first thought was it was just a beauty supply store. It had a large inventory of professional hair products and the sales person was helpful. The store portion itself seemed pretty quiet, but then, I walked closer to the back and that's where all the hubbub was. It was soooooo busy in the back with a crowd of females getting anything "beauty related" done. I guess that's why it's called a "beauty center"-silly me. It reminded me of those movies where all the females are chatting away while getting their hair done in that dome like machine. I dove a little further and asked the sales person- basically there's pretty much everything you can think of- cuts, perms, nails, facials, and even threading! You can ask the sales person for a referral to one of the specialist in the back but it seems that a lot of them are independent. You can call that person directly and set your appointment up. I think considering the experience and cost, the "beauty center" part fell somewhere between a higher end salon vs a chain/corporation salon. If someone has had a good experience with a hair stylist, please let me know. I moved here not too long ago and I'm looking for a new person :) read more

Wouldn't you think if Kim Aninag had allegedly 17 years massage experience that she wouldn't have to be advertising specials through Groupon if she was actually any good at her job? After speaking to Kim on the phone, I made an appointment with her only to be told by the Receptionist upon arriving that the massage had been cancelled. Mind you, Kim had my phone number but she couldn't be bothered to call or text me to notify me of the cancellation. I wasted an hour driving to and from the shop. I asked to speak to Kim and she refused to come to the front desk, instead making the Receptionist do her dirty work. Kim lied to the Receptionist saying she had notified Groupon of the cancellation and refund. I phoned Groupon and they knew nothing about the cancellation or refund. Then I phoned the Owner of the Body Spa Salon and she informed me that Kim is an independent Contractor and there was nothing she could do. Wrong. She could cancel Kim's leasing agreement. Clearly the Owner was not concerned about her company's reputation and hiring an unscrupulous Contractor. read more

Took my mom here to see Janet to get her a perm. She has not been able to get a perm that would last for more than a couple of days for years. All the beauticians said it was because of her medicine that she takes, she takes aspirin for headaches! Janet was recommended by a friend so we went to see her. She gave my mom an amazing perm and has now cut and colored her hair. She knows her business. Besides being super sweet and so accommodating, she does a wonderful job at all she does. I don't know what's happened in the last year, but this location has really gone downhill. It started slowly with some sinks and hairdryers not working adequately, and not being repaired so there were time where you had to wait for either. That doesn't seem to be an issue presently, not because they've been repaired but due to the number of stylists who have left and now there are fewer clients. I used to see a young lady constantly cleaning the common areas but I haven't seen her in months and asked about it as the lack of attention is starting to show. I was told her hours were cut. There's also no receptionist any longer, so anyone can walk in and wander around the salon. Walk-ins will start asking customers in the waiting area who to see etc. There was a homeless woman in the ladies room once cleaning herself. If you're a regular you know where your stylist is located and how to check in with him or her, however, we shouldn't have to be the ones providing directions or suggestions on who to see while you're waiting for your own stylist. Hopefully the owner will realize this salon is in a perfect location and has great potential, and will start to pay a little more attention to it, or sell it to someone who will. read more

I met the stylist Robert when he started coming to my work for food and drink with friends. After a few visits I found out what he did and he told me to stop by for a cut. I was growing out my hair and was in need, so I eventually did. I needed something that was more modern but not too flash. When I sat and we began to talk it out I knew I was in excellent hands. I stumbled upon this shop when grabbing Starbucks and walked in. Jolene was not only courteous but very professional. The location on W Charleston is not that old( late 90's early 00's) and its frankly embarrassing. It looks like a discount product location. Seems like it should have a blowout sale banner plastered to the front window. Yes!, they have a wide variety of top line products. However this is Las Vegas, its located in Summerlin, and the environment falls completely below expectation. Tabitha Coffey where are you??? The prices compete with some of the trendy, welcoming, boutique salons in the area. Obviously stylists vary. There may be some exceptional talent scattered amongst the tacky decor and cheap fixturing but as a client you would never guess it. I've seen Ultas that look better. Also, the website has no information about the team,their experience and expertise,and really no format ,period. For an organization to not have a proper website and multiple locations make no sense.The website does nothing to attract new business. Whoever is in charge of marketing needs to be fired and then asked to repay their salary/cost of benefits to the salon for the entire time they worked there. For some people, especially the ones that spend money, getting their salon and spa services done is an intimate,calming experience.They look forward to it. Its not just about the service, but about their envelopment into the surroundings. If I were a stylist renting a space I would be pissed. No, actually, I would probably be gone with this kind of poor representation. This is a tough economy and people want value and an experience that evokes some kind of positive feeling. There is nothing beautiful or inviting about The Beauty Center. The word "beauty" should not be in the title.Period. I needed to push our appointment up due to last minute emergency and she came in one hour early to make it possible. I have been to see her once in the past. (I am not a regular nail customer. I only get them done for special occasions.) I came back to see her because she was so detailed oriented and very careful not to hurt or cut me the first time. She took her time and it showed. I got my nails done here by Debbie. I rarely get my nails done at a salon because I usually do my own and I hate paying someone to do a worse job than I can do for free. But when I heard of Shellac, I decided to give it a try since I'm very hard on a manicure. They usually don't last a day. Just in shaping and prepping my nails, I was impressed. Then she did a wonderful job of the color application. I didn't feel awkward to chat either. She's very personable. The job was so nice and was stronger than my unpolished regular nails. I go to the Body Spa but I only use Heather from Hair by Heather because she is amazing with color, highlights, keratin treatments, and the way she cuts and styles my hair--there's just nobody that does all that as well and continues to maintain the integrity of my hair.
