I got my hair done 3-4 days ago at this place with Kailani. She's a sweet girl but I asked her and told her about my hair and type. I asked her multiple times if she is okay with Afro/Textured/Black people hair. She told she was fine with it. I made a down payment and I SHOULD have only paid $65 dollars for this appointment. I showed my inspo pictures and if that was okay with her. She said yes. She even told me at the start that it normally takes her an hour and a half to 2 hours for appointments. We get to the point where she is washing my hair and it went downhill from there. She has having issues washing my hair and then informed me that she would add an extra $10-$15 charge because of how thick my hair type is. I told her "okay" because that wasn't horrible but it would have been nice to know before hand if that's the case. As I told her that my hair was thick before even coming to the Salon. Then she's blow drying my hair and I was sitting in that chair for 4 HOURS. For a simple wash and blowout. The whole time she's talking about she doesn't have a lot of experience with my hair type. AFTER SHE WASHED IT AND IS IN THE MIDDLE OF BLOW DRYING. I was shocked that she said this as I gave her multiple chances to tell me that she couldn't do my hair. I was fully ready to leave at the start of the appointment, if she told me front up that she couldn't do my hair. She then tried to reference her friend from cosmetology school & that they also want to "experiment" on my hair type. I don't play about my hair nor do I think anyone would want someone to "experiment" on their hair with no knowledge of how to handle their hair type. That comment made me deeply uncomfortable. As I thought I was coming to a professional, not someone who wants to "experiment" on my hair. Along with that comment, there is something completely wrong talking about "experimenting" on a black persons hair. Later on, her boyfriend comes in towards the end of the appointment and I could feel and sense that she wanted to get the appointment over with. And she was rushing the end so she could leave with him. I was completely over the appointment and just wanted to pay and leave. Afterwards, she then informs me that she has to add a $40-$50 charge because of how long the appointment is. I was deeply annoyed at this. As I basically paid $130 for a job that wasn't to my liking and to someone who couldn't handle my hair texture. I could have gotten a WAY better job else where if I knew I was going to be paying that much upfront. If you are black or have textured hair, please don't go to her. I tried to make an appointment on line but was required to provide my credit card (sketchy). I called in and was told nobody worked there under the name V. Turns out I was talking to V who said he could take me at 12:00. I showed up and waited 16 minutes. Other stylists kept walking around (without clients) and looking at me sitting up front waiting. I had told the receptionist I was waiting for V for my 12:00 when I showed up. After 16 minutes of no communication I left. Please don't waste your time with this establishment. One of the worst gel manicures I've ever had. I think her name was Baby that did my nails, and instead of soaking off the gel she filed everything off. She made my nails paper thin. Then the Polish got thick, and she added which I think is acetone to thin it out, which makes it apply very thin. The next day a corner of my nail broke off, and within 4 or 5 days I had five chipped nails. It was expensive and the fact that it only lasted only a few days was ridiculous! Did I go back and have the salon correct it? No. I get so tired of going back and having to sit through another entire gel manicure when they should have got it right the first time! Daysha absolutely crushed it with my GelX nails and my gel pedicure. I can't have my nails done all the time but was traveling for work for 3 weeks and needed something sturdy that would hold up. I've gotten tips + SNS at other salons that never hold up and I almost always break at least one nail but these tips + GelX did not budge! Not a single nail chipped or lifted, probably could have worn them for another 2 weeks. These nails saw 6 flights, 5 airports and 4 countries and I put them through a lot. I'm so glad I discovered LUNAR salon from my nail technician Carmen, I've been following her for months and so happy she arrived at this salon. Lunar is so clean and as the name infers, it's goes by a lunar theme and has a pretty moon background when you first walk in. Their prices are transparent and fairly affordable. Most of the time, I'm at Lunar for a gel/dip manicure. Carmen is very talented at doing artistic designs, and she's saved me countless times from a split nail accident. I've been coming here on & off since about 2021. POSTING THIS TO INFORM OTHERS OF MY EXPERIENCE & hopefully this will change the approach & how the manager I spoke to, handles situations such as mine. Maybe it was just a bad day for them but then again, it was not okay with me. My appointment was on 01/12/23 - done by Daysha. There's alot of details but i'm going to try to keep this short. I got an infection on my big toe due to the tech poking me pretty deep as she was doing my pedicure. By 01/14/23 is where I saw that pus was now present. At this point, since my appt from two days prior, it hurt to walk or even sleep properly because of the infection. It was painful & very uncomfortable. I have never experienced an infection after getting a pedicure. So, I called the salon to speak with a manager or owner. Immediately the person who answered the phone was defensive, throughout the phone convo they were not empathetic at all, & also would hang up very disrespectfully & abruptly, TWICE. I called the salon today, 01/16/23 and was informed the manager that answered the phone when I called was either Eric or Henry. (I've never met nor been introduced to either of them when I've gone to the salon but I wouldn't be surprised if I get a response to my review considering they don't like bad reviews) Although a 50% discount was offered, I am choosing to no longer support the salon. I am very disappointed in how the manager I spoke to, handled my serious complaint initially. Yes they apologized later when we had a three way call because Daysha apparently denied to the manager, what I was saying & I requested to speak with her. I refuse to support a business that makes me feel uncomfortable, & this really sucks because this is a LGBTQ-friendly salon & being part of that community I always want to support businesses that are supportive of the community. Unfortunately, not in these circumstances. P.S. - I saw another review stating they also were hurt from Daysha during their pedicure. No flow, no blend, just three random cuts that looked like stairs. My shortest layer was up to my ears. It took some time for me to grow it out & went to Henry as a referral. Bless his soul, he fixed the unfixable! I was able to make an appointment the day of. He's flexible and was to find a time that matched my schedule. He's quite personable & will text you to come in early if he is done with a client. The salon is gorgeous and clean. They opened their new location not too long ago in the plaza on rainbow & sunset. I was looking for a salon to get me in last minute for a balayage. I found this salon through Yelp. Their online booking via website was very easy and convenient. Nico was my hairstylist. He is very friendly, personable, and carries a such a fun awesome personality. I dread going to salons knowing I'll spend 5-6 hours in there but he made the whole experience comfortable and pleasant. He did a fantastic job on my hair and I love the results. They also have a full service nail salon. My girlfriend is a regular here for nails and they do a great job from what I've seen on her. I knew I should have left the second he tried to rip off my last set of nails instead of soak off. After I told him I wanted soak off instead he instantly got an attitude, I wanted to show him the shape I wanted on my phone and he wouldn't look and refused to acknowledge me. The nail process took 3+ hours which idk if it's normal for Las Vegas but my normal girl in Seattle only takes 1.5hr. My nails have large amounts of built up acrylic, several nails arnt straight, uneven length and width. The holographic powder is warped like it already peeling or dented, but maybe that's the acrylic. You can let the photos I've attached do the talking. $120 for a botched job and now I have to go pay someone else to remove this and fix it. Ps I saw Eric who has great reviews on yelp but maybe I just got him on a bad day. {update} look at their response, they claim I'm unprofessional and just look how they talk. All I wanted was for them to apologize and take responsibility, but no they want to say I'm the problem? I never talked down to your nail techs at salon. AND THIS IS 100% YOUR SALONS WORK do not try and manipulate users like I got this somewhere else. 8/11/20 update After getting this disaster of a set removed I was rest assured by another salon that they did terrible work. They informed me that Lunar used a product called polygel which was not easy to remove and I DID NOT ask for this product I asked for acrylic. I am still in shock that this establishment does not want to simply apologize for the work. I just wanted to keep this post updated so anyone thinking about coming would be cautious of the things I had to go through. Lashes are everything! And, Jessica always does an amazing lashes for me. She takes her time and is meticulous with what she does...results are beautiful full lashes every time. I have had to try other lash artists in town several different times...it's just not the same. I continue going to Jessica because, she really is the best. I usually cut and bleach my own hair because making bad decisions is fun and easy, but when the texture of my hair started to feel like a scarecrow's ass, I decided to get some professional help. I came in to get the SOS keratin treatment to rebuild my hair and to have my roots redone. Niko did a great job of taking care of me. He necromanced my hair back to life and made it touchably soft again. When it came to coloring, Niko was very thorough at fixing my past mistakes and getting my hair to be one even tone. I asked for my hair to be as platinum blonde as possible without going silver and he suggested this sandy color, which I think looks great.
