This gym has been one of the worst fitness experiences I've ever had. The equipment is outdated and often broken, and the restrooms and locker rooms are absolutely filthy -- dirty floors, foul smells, and no basic supplies like soap or paper towels. It's clear no one is keeping up with maintenance or cleanliness. The staff is completely unprofessional. Most of them look like they've never used a gym themselves, and they clearly don't care about helping members. When I asked a basic question, I was ignored and brushed off. Even worse, after I posted a truthful review about my experience, I was retaliated against. My membership was suddenly flagged, and I was treated with hostility during my visits asked to leave -- all because I shared an honest opinion. It's ridiculous to "request to cancel" on their website, fill out a "cancellation request form" and have to respond to a call/text from their management to "why do you want to cancel? here's a discount if you stay" then having to wait A WEEK to get an email back from them saying that your "cancellation request has been reviewed..." then still having to reply to that email confirming "YES I WANT TO CANCEL!!" I've already been billed for this month while waiting for them to respond to my "cancellation request." In other disappointing news, this gym is not well-kept. The back area with the rowing machines and Bosu balls is the worst; the windows are cracked, there are bugs and spiders on the ceiling, and there is visible damage to the walls. Management encourages members to record themselves at the gym and to tag them on social media, thats fine! There will just be a group of people with inconvenient phone or tripod setups, taking up space for us regular people. The only positives I will mention are that the staff is generally friendly, they always greet you at the door, and when you're leaving. And this gym isn't that packed, but I'm assuming it's because no one wants to be a member, given its bad reputation. I've learned my lesson. Came in with a buddy to use his day pass because I wanted to try Body Xchange out. Jose immediately jumped on me trying to get me to sign up for this "free pass" that would require commitment to show up or be charged. I denied again and again explaining that I was simply just wanting to check it out with a quick workout but he wouldn't let it go. After finally shaking him, I used the day pass but was already super annoyed. I really wish I had just walked out. I get you have quotas to meet but dude you have to drop it when someone denies it the first ten times. He found out my buddy was a previous member, denied him the second allowed day pass, and made him do the month deposit pass. read more

Signed up for the 7 day pass to see what Body Xchange was like. Once I got there I was told I couldn't try it unless I signed up for a membership - how is that a 7 day pass? I complained that this was deceitful and the manager let me workout for today only (still not 7 days). Out of the 5 stair masters, 2 were out of service, and 2 had steps that were collapsed which meant every other step was awkward. The bicycle I tried had a faulty right pedal. Men's locker room smelled horrible as well. Not happy, and not coming back. I would have felt much better about this if I wasn't lied to in the beginning. read more

No matter what time of day I end up going to the gym there's always a good, safe feeling and it's super important to me feeling comfortable in a gym. The reason for this review is unfortunate because it seems to be so trivial but looking at the number of negative reviews about the issue of Cancelling your contract, I guess its a bigger deal than just my situation. But I guess thats what you get when your company has a pattern consistently finding creative ways to charge customers who express to the desire to leave despite branding their package as Month to Month. Month to Month clearly implies that your decision to stay or leave the gym can be executed pretty much at anytime preceding the current month. Body Xchange has rigged it so that customers who decide to leave are unable to do so unless they pay more money. They actually will Refuse to cancel your membership to make sure you accrue additional charges. Due to an injury which makes working out impossible I am in the process of requesting Cancellation of my Month to Month Membership. Rather than making the process simple, as cancelling a Month to Month Membership should be, Body Xchange has made quitting extremely difficult and Drawn out. They will not Cancel you over the phone, they make you submit a form on the Website and then the promise to call you back to "Discuss". I submitted my Cancellation over 12 days ago (Along with a second one) and have yet to receive a call confirming. Instead I receive an email stating that All Cancellations must be processed 15 days before the date of the following payment (A Blatant and Shameless Money Grab). Im sure Body exchange is going to respond as they usually do and say "Its in the Contract" but my question is Why? It doesnt take 15 days to Cancel Anything! This is not the first time they have demonstrated the need to squeeze every dollar possible out of customers leaving, even if just temporarily. Last time I had to cancel my membership (Because we were moving) I was informed they would not cancel my month to Month Membership and I would continue to accrue charges if I did not pay the Annual Fee which was coming up in the next couple of months. Do not believe the "Month to Month" Gimmick. The gym experience itself is so-so but beware should you ever have to cancel your Membership for ANY reason. I would have returned to the gym once I recovered physically but because of these desperate attempts to get one last dollar out of your customers I will no longer consider Body Exchange and I will tell everybody I know the same. I have headphones but I'm still able to hear the terrible music that's constantly being played. Bee Gees, Kool & The Gang and Foreigner are the type of music that's playing. It's played so loud it's over powering my air pods. Hardly anyone is cleaning equipment after each use and some of the equipment is showing rust. The gym is also freezing, it's not at a comfortable temperature to exercise. I'm canceling my membership within a week and finding a new gym. read more

Gym is a mess, cannot recommend joining (and it's hard to quit if you're a member already). They seem to have a lot of staff here, but I've not once seen someone cleaning equipment--and the people that go to this gym are lazy and can't be bothered to wipe anything down or re-rack a single weight. You'll frequently show up a mess of plates from someone with 1" of depth on a lift...then they just walk away and leave that mess for the 110 lb woman to unload. Nice guys. read more

I do belong to Body Xchange gyms. I have the kind where I can go to any location in town. The price for membership is very reasonable . I think 40-50 for me and my daughter and childcare for my son. This location has a good amount of equipment and I had a great trainer for a while, Christy(she no longer works there ) but I did see results and learned a lot. I got lucky with getting her because she was actually knowledgeable about the body and she knew her stuff. I also like classes by a lady named Renae. Honeys classes are fun too. The Allen road and olive drive locations best. Olive drive is my favorite it's quiet. I usually can get on a cable machine there . It's not the same on white lane . But the staff has been friendly to me and my son in the kids club too. read more

I have shown up three times since Thanksgiving and they were closed with no one in sight despite their hours of M-F 11:00 pm, Sat - Sun 8:00 pm as you can see here on their Yelp page. Wednesday and Friday I was there at 7:00 pm and Saturday I was there at 5:30 pm I can guarantee that my membership dues will not be adjusted accordingly despite their limited hours and they certainly did not fail to take their BS annual club maintenance fee - greed is an ugly thing! Called and spoke with Manager Ron about signing up for membership and inquired if I needed to make an appointment. He said that he was helping a member sign up and will be able to help me after. I drove to the location, checked in with the young lady at the front desk looking specifically for Manager Ron. She notified him that I was waiting and I took a seat waiting for him. Two ladies walk in and waited less then 10 minutes were assisted immediately when Manager Ron was available. I was waiting between 20-30 minutes and he didn't ask who was next or inquired with the front desk personnel, where I had checked in to see him. After reading the negative comments and now experienced it first hand I must say, Poor Customer service! Between the girl at the front desk and Manager Ron, I'll take my business to another gym. Unless you're planning to stay forever and never cancel your membership, DON'T DO IT! They make it so difficult to cancel! And I don't even have an open contract with them!! I just want them to stop charging my account! They have awful customer service. Supervisors don't return calls to help with issues. Getting a hold of anyone in the corporate office is impossible. Corporate doesn't return calls either and there is no way to get a hold of a human when you call the number. I've been coming here for over 10 years. I've loved this gym but it's time to go. Two young ladies at the front desk wanted to give me a hard time over a towel rental. It's not that I don't have $1.50, it's a matter of principle. Hopefully BX changes things and cuts members a little slack and stops nickel and diming them to death. It's never clean there is a dust everywhere. Mirrors are dirty, equipment are old and broken most of the time. They can't even have a normal clocks to show the correct time. Went in today, been a member of this gym for the last 6 years and it's been okay with the occasional broken machine. Anyways, the reason for me rating this one star is because I got there today and there was a homeless person covered up by the bike rack at the front entrance sleeping. I told the guy at the front desk when I was leaving and he said "well yeah but he's not really bothering anyone, what do you think?". I told him I don't like seeing that at all. This is unacceptable. The manager needs to know about this type of bullshit going on and fix it. I'll be cancelling my membership and going somewhere else because of this. So Bxchange, "what do you think". I went back in to give them the benefit of the doubt last night after a two week break from BX and the area has since been cleaned up and no signs of vagrants sleeping at the entrance. They discriminated against me based on my race, they were sexist to me based on my gender, constant harassment....on 9-8-2020 a female manager at the SW gym told me to wipe down the bench so I did. Then after the next session opens she said I could not come back in because I didn't wipe down my bench, a blatant lie. She stated she would call the Police if I didn't leave. I told her to look at video camera as proof I wiped down bench. I have seen so many people not wipe bench down that were not spoken to. I always carry my towel, wipe bench down, & wear a mask or face shield. Clear harassment & not the 1st time I have been discriminated against & harassed at SW Body xchange. I was a member at 24 hour fitness for 29 years- never 1 issue, problem, or compliant. Been at SW Body xchange 2 months & have had 3 altercations. I started coming here when the Rosedale/Calloway Body Xchange got really busy during after-work hours, and now it's the only one I'll go to. The main section is the "express" area, and there is a smaller side room that is for "ladies only." This place isn't very crowded, and it's nice for a quick run on the treadmill and free-weight workout. Just a side-note: There is no childcare or classes here. read more

I have belonged to this gym for years and I just cancelled. I don't know why I stayed a member for several years. This particular gym has the rudest staff and the nastiest atmosphere. The bathrooms are always dirty and the equipment is never cleaned. Things are broken a lot of the time. My biggest gripe is that when I come here after work, I can never find parking or get on any equipment. There are lines for the machines and it is a waste of time. The managers don't care either. They aim to sell as many memberships as possible even though they don't have enough equipment to accommodate all of their members. I had one good personal trainer there but she quit last year and the last three I have had since have also quit Body Exchange. Their trainers quit in record numbers here so there is no consistency in training. Overall, the place is useless. I forfeited my last few training sessions just to get away from this place. I will never return to a Body Exchange ever again! If you can't do workouts at home, I would advise maybe try Inshape. But don't sign up here. You will regret it. read more

Brimhall Spa location I paid top $ @ $49 a month (can't remember sign on amount) and $270 to end it. The so called month to month contract. I use to love this place. Until I needed to freeze the account due to job change - lots of travel. Started out needed a month a month grew into now six. I called the corporate office each time. I kept getting calls but too busy I finally returned the call. My month to month membership that was supposed to be frozen was now sold to collections WTH? And I quote the manager "when you get account current, come in we can freeze it or we can cancel it; then you can just pay the restart fees or new contract fees when your ready to restart" Are you kidding me? So much for month to month, so much for a freeze until I return to CA in May 2015. I will never do business with a gym again there are plenty of friends out there doing personal training and/or bootcamps. read more

First of all, this is one long review. I have portioned it off in sections so you may read the portion that you are most interested in. This review is mostly in regards to the White Lane location; however, I have seen common issues at the Panama, East Bakersfield, and Downtown locations. Which is why I've decided to copy and paste this review onto those Yelp listings as well. Intro: I'm sorry to say I must update my review on this gym. I have been a member of this gym from the moment I was legally able to sign a contract on my own. Some Pros and Cons: Being here for 8 years, I've seen it all. Yes, I've dealt with the lack of hygiene, the broken machines, the inconvenience to members when they make repairs/remodel, the unprofessional staff (some of the staff are great, but about 70% are terrible), the shitty music, and the contract issues. I've dealt with it all, why do I stay? The basketball court, the people, and the convenient locations. Don't get me wrong, this gym does have positives. The people who come here are great people and they're very down to earth. Some of the staff members are very friendly and actually greet you with a smile when you make eye contact. I've never felt uncomfortable here and I've always gotten great workouts at this location. However, it's tough overlooking all the negatives. I mean, I've been a loyal member and I value that a lot; however, I don't feel the loyalty is appreciated whatsoever. As a member of this club, I really do feel like just a number. A number in the accounting books of the owner when he sees my payment come through every month. Customer Service: The recent management of the boxing area and the basketball court have made me decide on rewriting my review. I understand not all members treat the facilities with respect. I understand a few members can be "bad apples." However, that does not mean you "punish" the rest of the people who pay a membership fee to access your facilities. If part of the facilities are not permitted for use, does that mean part of our monthly payment can be withheld? Doesn't work that way. I respect the owner as a business man; however, my opinion is that he's got it all wrong in terms of customer service. The customer is ALWAYS right, and in this case the customer is not being treated as a customer, rather as a child. It is very disrespectful to all members who come here, pay on time, and treat the facilities with care. Customer service is huge in this industry, and I believe Body Exchange is lacking the proper training for it's entire staff corporation wide. For example, during this recent mismanagement of the facilities I came up to one of the trainers and respectfully expressed my concern. He immediately defended the actions made to close down part of the facilities saying (this is to the best of my memory), "Well now hopefully we can have some of the members appreciate and respect the basketball floor. Maybe we can learn from this." I felt like he was talking to "us" as children. Us referring to the people who play basketball often. I asked why this course of action was taken so swiftly and drastically when there was never a notice of the concern. There were never any signs posted to please clean up (I understand this is common courtesy, but some people do need reminders). He replied, "Well it's something you should know to do. We also said a few things word of mouth." I'm there quite regularly and never did I see a staff member come onto the basketball floor and express the concern. NOT ONCE did he say "I'm sorry for the inconvenience." Or a "you're right, we could've done this instead." Remember, the customer is ALWAYS right. I don't want to name anyone on here. The gentleman is usually very kind and welcoming. I always say hello to him and he greets me in return. I have nothing against him I just disagreed with his responses to my question. Contract issues: Unfortunately, I'm running out of room to explain this issue. Yelp just told me to wrap it up. I will sum it up by saying, BE CAREFUL WHEN ENTERING A CONTRACT WITH BX. All of these gyms have managers who's focus is to increase numbers. It's more about quantity rather than quality for them; and if something comes up to where you have to terminate your contract, THEY WILL NOT WORK WITH YOU. They have great equipment , awesome classes and convenient locations. BUT.... totally unfair prices! So I have had my account since 2011 and they've been charging me almost $45 a month. I just found out from several Co workers that they pay under $20 And have had an account for less than a year! When I called to ask about the deals or to see why my monthly bill was so costly, I got no answers, was put on hold and eventually hung up on. I called twice from work and this happened. It's really disappointing but I'm Cancelling my membership asap. It's too expensive and the service was crap for how long I've been a loyal customer. read more

Let me start off by saying this gym is by far the closest to me as well as the most affordable with the amenities they offer. When we chose to drop our old gym and get a new one there were a few things we were looking for. One, we wanted a good variety of cardio and machines to work out on with the option of some classes to try. Two, it had to have an affordable kids care option. At our previous gym the cost was $2 per child per visit with no option for a monthly pass. We have two kids so doing the math if we go on average 3 times a week we were paying about $50 a month, whereas here we pay a fraction of that cost in a per month per kid payment with our dues. The gym itself is always pretty clean when I go in the early or late evening and the employees are friendly. I have only been approached once by a personal trainer but being under a doctor's care and recommendations keeps them at bay and they let me be. This location is a little smaller than others but it still has a good amount of cardio machines to choose from. One of mine and my husband's chief complaints is that the workout machines all seem to be missing the extra side pin if want to add an extra five or ten pounds. We went ahead an purchased one online for a few dollars to use. Overall I will continue to frequent this location as it is most convenient for me. read more

Rudest front desk staff ever!!!! But I love the fitness instructor for my Zumba class. Equipment always seems to be clean, yet I still have to wait for the day when not one of their treadmills seem to be down. The personal trainers and sales team actually are alot cooler than most, not always trying to pitch a sale. They seem genuinely interested in what they do, in fact one of the trainers helped me on a machine without me asking and didn't even try to sell me anything????? I was impressed, that is not the case at any of the other local gyms I belonged to. I really hope they have their front desk match the rest of your experience, she's enough to make you want to try to sneak in (to avoid her nastiness) in a gym you are a PAID member and frequent visitor. The tall guy named TRE that works at body exchange on white lane is a huge JERK. I had a membership about 5 years ago and he was a massive jerk even back then. I went last week and got a 3 day pass. He literally stood in front of me on my way out and said, "Are u going to join or not". I said, I'm going to try it out for the 3 days first. The next day, on my way in, he stood up and threw his hands up and yelled, "U better get a membership today, if u don't join today then u can't come back tomorrow". I didn't even feel like working out anymore. I complained to another worker and he said, "Tre's a jerk to everyone, I don't know why they don't fire him, he's been here for like 20 years. I've been attending this gym since 2012 and I LOVE it. Sure there are a few things wrong here and there but overall it's great. They definitely should get some new equipment, the stair master for sure because they keep breaking and look pretty old. But the staff is amazing. If you're in need of a personal trainer see Elliot, he's very knowledgable and so so helpful. I definitely recommend the white lane location(about a ten minute drive) over the Panama location(which is 5 minute walking distance from my home), the staff is completely rude at the Panama location, especially a few of the female trainers. I was a member for years. I had a hard time getting to the gym. I had such a good deal for my son and I. I finally decided i needed to cancel. They talked me into putting my membership on hold for a couple of months. When I my months were almost done i canceled. I guess i was about 4 days off, so they prorated me a whole month. Then they charged me an annual fee. I didnt know it was still active. I was charged for half a month i didnt use or know i could have used. They did not explain all of this to me. I just wanted to be done. They wanted to gouge me for every last dollar. They will not make it right. Poor customer service. This wasnt my first bad experience. I wont go back. read more

This place is filled with people who either don't know what they are doing or they don't care. This whole experience has been a nightmare from start to finish. The managers and most staff don't know much more than you and won't tell you key information (because they probably have to research your entire file to know anything). If they don't give you the correct information and you get overdrawn it's not their problem and you are still on the hook for all of the fees and payments they want to take from you. Also, when leaving I was practically grilled about WHY I wanted to leave, and to be honest it was because I found a better deal at a nicer gym. InShape over-billed me 3 times and this was still the worst experience. I wouldn't come back to this place if I got a free membership nor would I recommend this place to anyone. read more
