The instructors are so welcoming for newbies! They demo the form and movements and walk around to fix your form as well. They lay a good foundation for what to expect in a signature class, and the workout is still crazy intense. Even after just a couple classes I feel stronger! The space itself is clean and well-kept, with nice restrooms and locker space. Fair warning, if you buy the 4 pack you are no longer eligible for the new client 2 week unlimited - I wish I knew that ahead of time and probably would have gotten the unlimited deal. Will be back and excited to try the regular full body classes soon!

Add the tum tum, and you would think this is the last place I would end up. The different orthopedic doctors and Physical Therapists all basically said go to something like this and see what makes you hurt :-( . I called and talked to the business and it turns out that they have many different types of classes, including rehab and recovery. They would make adjustments for me if needed. The business was spotless and organized to a T. Then came the class. The instructor, Jennifer, was quite charming as was the staff. The attendees were all ages, shapes, sizes, and I was not the only man there. Jennifer said she could adjust the instruction if needed due to all my damage and I said no way, go full blast and if I had problems I would adjust myself. So, full of confidence, I started immediately with the class which was a "grace", or something like that, for newbies. Jennifer was enthusiastic, and kept the tempo going. I had some problems at first following the instructions as I was new to this, but with the mirrors and her assistants, I started getting the idea. Yeah! I heard "shake it off and rest" but I could never see where "rest" was in the picture. I realized that if I totally stopped I would never be able to start up again, so I did the best I could. Then I learned to hate the words "bar and barre". When you are told to grab or lean on the bar, you are really going to get it. All in all, it was wonderful. Jennifer or one of her assistants would come and help with advice, and there was only 2 moves I could not do. When we were finally finished, my muscles were shaking so bad from lack of use in the past few years, I asked my wife to drive home, much to her glee. Fast forward 1 day and I am worn out and sore, but in a good way. I am definitely more flexible, I don't have pain where I used to have pain, so this event probably saved me a lot of money to doctors and therapists as I know now where to target and to what extent I can handle and still live.

Walking into the studio you feel like you're in a trendy little boutique. Cute furniture, modern furnishings. The receptionist immediately greeted my friend and I and gave us a quick tour around. I felt very comfortable there for it being my first time. The instructor, Emily, met with us before class to explain what we were in for and reassure us that it was ok to work out within our own limits and take breaks as needed. We did the Shape class which encompasses strength training and toning. You might think a class loosely based on ballet sounds kind of like an easy work out, but it was definitely not! I work out at least a few times a week and this class really put me in my place. My arms were aching 5 minutes in and my butt was burning pretty much the whole time. I can't see how you wouldn't get in shape if you do this class regularly! There's a special right now where you get 2 classes for $22 as a new client and it was totally worth it. I have felt healthy and energized all day. It's nice to work out in such a clean and pretty environment. I really hope to make this a regular part of my week.

As with each barre3 location i have personally experienced for myself, the instructors at this location are warm, welcoming, exceptional & challenging. barre3 is a beautiful, "full-body balanced workout" that boils down to a unique blend of yoga, pilates, & ballet (barre) work. i've tried alllll the boutique fitness classes & studios, genres, methods/styles etc., you name it...and barre3 is the most fulfilling, enjoyable, & challenging workout experience i've had! Don't get it twisted - each barre3 class i've ever taken has been extremely intense & difficult, but the physical, mental, & emotional health improvements & peaks are well worth it! Barre3's website describes it best, "Our innovative approach combines low-impact isometric moves, large-range cardio bursts, and mind-centering breathwork." - and for each of those details, i'm in love! the cherry on top of the barre3 sundae is that their co-founder/CEO, Sadie Lincoln, is an absolute role model, leader queen! (ProTip: she also teaches & has some of their most-killer recorded classes in their online inventory!) In addition to studio classes, they offer at-home recorded & live workouts. Their in-store merchandise is consistently a cute & comfortable selection that they rotate seasonally - they cover the typical workout leggings, tanks, tops, barre socks, etc. And, you get a 10% discount off of their retail merchandise if you have a membership with them. Price point is on par with other higher-end, boutique-style fitness studios in Austin, & more affordable if you have a monthly employee benefit for expensing & getting partial/full reimbursement for gym membership. I have contacted them three times to tell them the situation and get my 45.00 credit as I don't live there and will not return for years. Never got a response once. Wow what an amazing place that they have no customer service or don't care to respond. They are also way over priced. There is no reformer that is worth 65.00 shame on the avoid.

STRONG PILATES IS ONE OF THE BEST! This is probably one of my new favorite Pilates studios!! Jai,…read morethe instructor, was phenomenal down to the music selection--Afro beats! The pace of the class was perfect and this is the only studio that I've been to where an actual demo of the machine was provided. They also have tv screens with the moves showing what's coming up next so you don't feel lost or awkward as a first timer. I actually left sweating and feeling energized. After class each person was provided with a cold strong towel to cool down. The cool thing that sets Strong apart is that their "rowformer" has a bike attach and erg/rowing machine. The bathrooms also include a shower area and they have a separate area for cool down stretching as well! These were such nice touches! There's a parking garage attached so no stress to be had there! They provide parking validation! Right now they have a sale of 15 days (unlimited classes) for $69 which is a great deal!

She set the tone for the positive experience I would receive. Because Strong Pilates is a little different from regular Reformer Pilates, it takes a while to get used to the vocabulary and equipment logistics and usage. I like the fact that Strong Pilates combines either a bike or rower (known as the "erg side) to the workout. The intervals on the erg side are challenging, either based on a certain calorie burn or number of meters. There are usually about 3 blocks of bike or rower: Once the first erg side workout is completed with several intervals of intense work followed by short rests, the session progresses to the strength side, utilizing the carriage and springs and sometimes free weights. This part is more like traditional reformer Pilates, but with a few differences. After attaching the carriage straps to your feet or hands, several challenging strength exercises follow. Sometimes you are standing up or planking, while pulling the carriage. The spring tension is adjustable to how strong you are feeling. I felt a little unsteady during some of the planking positions, as the carriage tended to move. But this can be corrected by adding more spring tension. I normally do lots of weight lifting/strength workouts, but Strong Pilates takes it to a new level! I definitely felt very strong (and tired) after each workout! The cold scented towels provided at the end are so refreshing...a perfect way to end the session!
