I feel so pretty right now. Actually, I don't. My face has sleep lines on it from the massage table "doughnut", my hair is disheveled, and my jaw is so slack I am drooling as I write this -- and I think my shirt is inside-out. Let me tell you: I just got WORKED. When I set up the appt with Dan a couple days ago, he promised he could deliver on a back-beating massage. Boy, he wasn't kidding. Oddly enough, the worst part of my body was not my upper middle back, but my neck. I like to think I'm pretty tough, but it was so painful to work through the gristle in my neck, I thought I was going to pass out. The only thing that kept me breathing was Dan's crazy-interesting conversations! Well, I can't call it a 'conversation', I mostly just grunted and grimaced most of the time. Very one-sided. For 90+ minutes of table-gripping, bittersweet agony, I paid a mere $125+tip. That's a sweet deal right therr. Their hours are ridic: the last appt (generally) is about 7:30--perfect for folks that get off work at 6pm or later! I got all kinds of good advice how to take care of myself in between now and my next massage--very cool. I will do anything he says, as long as my next near appt is not as painful as this one was! The piece de resistance was that satisfying crack when my (initial) trouble area on my back popped like a bunch of Chinese firecrackers. A sigh that could be heard around the world. Just don't expect to go in without money drama. Almost a year ago I went to BodyGood as it is very close to where I live and I need regular deep tissue massage. Because of their insurance policy I had to pay up-front on my card, that I was told would be refunded to my card when my insurance was verified - it was not refunded. I have not had a chance to go in and request my cash, and feel it should be automatically returned, like promised. I have really great coverage by the way and have never had issues with my co-pay. During the massage, I wanted to relax, but the male owner (Dan) talked so loudly and constantly that I could neither reply nor ask if he could chill so I could relax - the work he did otherwise would have been helpful. On my second visit I met with the female owner (Li) and received a great massage and she did not chat me up too much, but still did not receive my payment. After finding that my chiropractor has a massage component, I had a much better insurance experience and was in an environment where I could communicate easily with the masseuse and was also closer to my workplace, so I could go in during work hours. My wife had a similar experience and after several negotiations and a few months, she received a check refunding only a portion of the deposit by check, not back to credit - really? I need to find time to go in and request my deposit soon in person during their hours . . . life's too short read more

Yay Another massage place! This one is located in the cute downtown area of Columbia city. I went with the introduction deal, full body 60 minutes for $39. The best I could describe it is sort of Chinese pressure point massage with a Swedish Twist. Clothes off , face down on table with some lotion for lubrication, long strokes across the back (standard Swedish), followed by deeper tissue stuff more characteristic of Chinese style massage. It was great! She also did some good work on the face and feet. Afterwards, they also used a nice hot towel to help get some of the massage goop off your back which was nice. The only glitch was the face rest didn't quite fit (ouch). The ambience is more what you would expect from a massage place like massage envy rather than one of the many Chinese foot massage places. All the practioners (only two I think) are licensed massage therapists and are able to offer treatments that may be covered by health insurance which is nice. I will be back to check out the foot massage for $25! read more

I just got back from what may have been the best massage of my life. Granted, I'm hugely pregnant, so I'm, like, really really sore all the time on account of my new "figure." Today I decided I couldn't take it anymore and if I didn't get a massage, I would die. Within a few hours, I was at BodyGood for the first time ever, getting a prenatal massage with Christopher. W.O.W. My lower back preggo pain is gone. I can't believe it. It almost even feels like it's not coming back, and I have never felt that way after a massage. Usually it's back pretty soon, actually. First off, I must compliment this business on the sincerity, professionalism, honesty and all-around good vibes I experienced with each staff member I had the pleasure of speaking and working with. There was a miscommunication during my appointment, but I'm sure I'll be back! I scheduled a couples massage here for my boyfriend and myself. I called with some questions, and the owners were very friendly and helpful and took the time to talk to me and answer all of my questions - which I really appreciated, it wasn't like I was placing an order in a drive-thru, which is the feeling I experienced when calling other massage businesses for info. I requested that my boyfriend have a female masseuse and a male for myself. They took some time to help me pick out what sounded like the right masseuses for our individual needs - yay! We arrived very excited, filled out the paperwork. Someone started getting a chair massage right in the middle of the small waiting room - a little unexpected. The woman at the front desk asked me if we wanted the relaxation massage, or the deep tissue massage. I assured her we only wanted the relaxation massage. An employee came in and I got the impression from his interaction with the owner, that this guy was running pretty late - they were joking around about it in the waiting room in front of all the customers. I could tell right away he was there for our appointment, and that's why we had been waiting a little long. My boyfriend and I were taken back to the room, which was clean, warm and relaxing. Before we were left to undress, the guy masseuse was like "If someone wants a deeper, more intense massage, then I should probably work on them".....I wanted to have the guy masseuse, but didn't want a deep massage, so my boyfriend and I decided to switch and have the male masseuse on him, and the woman on me. -one hour later- The massage was over, one of the female employees had recommended a great caribbean restaurant a few blocks away which was a great post-massage dinner! While there, my boyfriend admits to being a little uncomfortable during the massage because the guy was applying too much pressure, but he didn't want to speak up and ruin the ambiance for me. A little while later, I admitted the same thing. We agreed that the whole time we were being poked and pressed too hard, and just kept telling ourselves to suck it up as to not ruin it for each other. At first, I was hesitant to say anything about not enjoying it because I had paid a lot for the massage, and wanted to pretend that I loved it. After being assured through a personal phone call from the owner that there was a slight mix up and we actually did receive a little deeper-massage than requested, I will definitely return to try again, because overall the people, location, cleanliness and experience I had with the staff and owners was everything I could hope for. read more

Two thumbs way up. I scheduled a last minute evening appointment with Dan to work on some sudden neck and back pain, and impaired range of motion, during my healing from a recent car accident. Even in treatment massages before, I don't recall this particular style of deep tissue work... intense, but tolerable (where usually I associate deep tissue with almost unbearable discomfort). When I'm in pain, I choose massage to help me relax, and feel a little bit better... this particular massage was truly treatment. A couple of hours later, my range of motion and pain level are markedly improved. I look forward to visiting BodyGood for relaxation massage, at some point... but in the meantime, I'm quite sold on them for treatment work! And, they love Yelp, which means a lot to me as a customer about their integrity as service providers, and their commitment to customer service. Highly recommended! read more

I regularly go to BodyGood Massage because of Auto accident related pain. I have always had a good experience (I see Li). They are very professional and their facility is clean and well kept. I don't know how I would manage to continue working without them. As a photographer I do alot of work that only aggravates the pain from the accident (processing photos in front of a computer for long hours, and taking photos for 8 hours straight). After visiting them regularly the pain is much more tolerable and I do feel improvement. I finally made it back! My return trip was for a couples' massage. We got there a little early so we waited just a few minutes for Dan & Li to return from their lunches. When Dan walked in, he immediately recognized us even though our last trip was two years ago! I thought that quite impressive - to remember our names and our experience the previous time we were there. As other reviewers mentioned, prior to the massages, Dan and Li advised us which therapist would be working on which table. That put the awkwardness of who gets which table out of the way and left us to choose comfortably. The massages for both my boyfriend and me were amazing. He and I were sore the next morning. I didn't realize how bad my back was until Dan started working on it. There were times when it felt like there more than just two hands were working on me - kinda crazy but awesome at the same time! His movements were very fluid and I have to admit that there were some hold-your-breath moments due to the pressure but goodness, I needed it! My boyfriend is a big guy, 6'4" at 220 1bs, and Li was more than sufficient for him as well. It truly was a great experience overall and I'm very glad we made our way back to BodyGood. He really knows how to tend to those muscles and help relieve any stress your body is having. I love that he knows what he's doing and he does it well. I've been seeing Li for about a couple of months now and she does an amazing job every time. They accept insurance which if good for me because my insurance covers 15visits a year. They recently have update with a new carpet. I choose BodyGood because of the reviews on Yelp and because of the convince of location. I live close by. Parking isn't too bad. If you can't find free street parking the Columbia City parking lot is open $1 for 2hrs. Dan and Li make an amazing team! Li always sends me off with a tasty piece of candy, a full cup of water and a wonderful smile. It's the little things like this that keep me coming back. This is one of those "wish there was a 'negative stars' rating" kinda reviews. A friend and I came here together approx. 6 months ago, each with a separate referral by other friends. (We were informed by staff that referrals resulted in discounts for the referrers, although I didn't ask for details - my fault?) Neither of our friends have received anything for the referrals. After the experience I had during and after my second visit, I'm not surprised. Dan and other staff couldn't figure out if I'd ever been there before due to having lost all the paperwork I filled out previously. After getting that mess "in order," I went into a room with Chase (sp?) who, proceeded to talk during the entire massage. I tried to discourage her from doing so by feigning sleep while I was face-up, but that didn't work for me after she randomly started to complain of "female millennials" being some of worst clients she's ever had. All this while seemingly absentmindedly​ rubbing the same area around the base of my neck, with just her thumbs, for the majority of the massage. Although I'm not a millennial, I have siblings who are, and to think of them being talked about the way Chase spoke of former clients really got my anxiety going. I could not relax. I eventually spoke up saying, "I'm really sorry to interrupt, but I don't know how much time we have left. Could you please work on the areas I mentioned?" She replied, "Don't worry, I'll get to those." The session ended shortly thereafter, and she never "got to them." Not only were my requests ignored, but my neck and shoulders were tender to the touch for days, I believe, due to the repetitive pressure from her thumbs. I left feeling pretty uncomfortable, physically and emotionally. When I got the chance a few days later, I called and spoke with Li and tried to express my concerns. While I was in mid-sentence the phone was handed off to Dan who, despite my calm and professional tone/manner, proceeded to laugh at me sarcastically, accuse me of possibly injuring myself after the massage (I "had no proof" the soreness I was experiencing was now worse than before I received the "massage"), and trying to scam them. I was shocked. I used to work for a small massage therapy company in Colorado. I never would have dreamed of talking to a client that way. I don't need a response, Dan, thank you. I've read the ones you've left in reply to other poor reviews. Yelpers wondering what those reviewers disliked about their experience at BodyGood will likely do the same now. read more

My boyfriend and I just celebrated our 3rd year Anniversary and treated ourselves to a couple's massage. We are massage newbies and never had a professional massage done before. I searched on Yelp and found this place was within our price range and the location was close to where we lived. That being said, we had a wonderful experience. From the outside, it doesn't look like a big place but when you step inside, it is very spacious and calming. You can tell that the owners really care for their space and their customers. Being massage newbies, we didn't know what to expect. After being led into our couples' room (which had a very soothing ambience, with dim lights and soothing music), we did not know what to expect next. We thought we were supposed to wear the robes that were hanging until Dan and Li told us that we didn't need to use them until after our massage. LOL The massage tables were heated--- AHH! :) The sheets were nice and clean... The whole experience was enjoyable. Li worked with me while Dan worked with my boyfriend. Li did such an amazing job and paid a lot of attention to my back (which I felt had the most stress). Dan paid a lot of attention to my boyfriend's neck (which he felt had the most stress). After our 1-hour massage, we got dressed just to find cups of water and a piece of candy for us at the front desk. That was very nice of them to take care of us! :) I also felt that they genuinely wanted to get to know us a bit more and start a conversation. They are both very friendly business owners. I rarely drive to Columbia City, but it has a really charming feel when you are there. I came around 4pm for a foot massage, and parking was a bit difficult to find. Remember, their website offers foot massage for $29, but it's actually $35. The foot massage room was nice and cozy with 4 beds around and is near to the front entrance. I guess my only complain would be while getting a super nice massage, there were people at the front desk and I could hear their whole conversation during the first 20 minutes. So I recognized one of the owners from the Yelp picture, and she gave me the massage. all I can say is that SHE IS REALLY GOOD with her hands!!! They are really strong, and sometimes your body needs that intense feel to get that relaxation after it's finished. So yes, I would recommend this place. read more

The massages here are so worth it! The fiancé and I come here once in awhile. We take turns treating each other to couple massages every few months. I think we're overdue for one, lol. The rooms are nice and clean, atmosphere is dim and relaxing. There's soft music playing in the background but it isn't distracting. Li is awesome! I had her the first time we were here but my fiancé has been calling dibs on her lately because he needs more pressure since he's tense from working out. Three years ago I received the most amazing massage while visiting Thailand at the beautiful resort I was staying at. I never believed that I would ever receive a better massage than this massage therapist in Thailand; however, Li from BodyGood Massage has met, if not surpassed, my Thailand's massage experience. Li is so attentive to my body's needs and I feel so relaxed and comfortable receiving many massages from her. I just received another massage from Li today, and I feel quite exquisite. I recently came back from a business trip where I was basically staring at my computer screen for 12 hours a day for a solid month. Before that I was in graduate school doing practically the same thing. After my business trip I went to the chiropractor who took x-rays and immediately put me on a long-term recovery program, seeing me 3 times a week to straighten out my newly curved spine. The day after my third session I was in such pain couldn't get up from the couch without groaning. There was a knot in my back so big i could feel my shoulder blade move over it. I needed a heavy, thorough massage and Lam certainly delivered. I told him my situation and he managed to find all the spots I was complaining about, plus more I didn't know were there. I've been here a few times now and I love it here! I've received a few massages over the years and I noticed deep tissue is the only type of massage that really helps me. They do deep rejuvenating work here and I was fortunate enough to find them after a recent car accident. Ive seen Dan twice and he's done a great job of working through the tightness in my neck and shoulders. Definitely where I keep a lot of stress also. I needed a massage badly. I'm a massage therapist myself and am very picky about the bodywork I get. Because of some sensitivities that reflect in areas of my body that don't take very much pressure, I tend toward modalities like cranio-sacral therapy and acupuncture. But sometimes you just need deep tissue! I certainly did, and do, regularly. I think I found my therapist at BodyGood in Columbia City. Marie did a fantastic job making sure she had my needs in mind and set to very skillful work in creating a wonderfully composed and executed massage. At first I was skeptical at all the 5-star reviews but after going there for a last minute couples massage I have been a fan ever since. The last time I went there was on my own to get a knot in my back rubbed out. First off, their customer service and scheduler were amazing. The first time we went there was for our last minute couple's massage and they were able to accommodate us that same day. Thy e second time I went was after the knot in my back became unbearable and several places I called were booked so I tried one last place and they were able to see me that day. I even called to re-schedule an hour later, especially since it was with my preferred therapist, and they were able to call him in. Second, Chris is amazing. He doesn't use oil and massages using the blanket so I didn't feel oily afterwards. His massages are very deep. Too some it would be considered painful but it was the exact pressure I needed to relieve that knot. To top the great massage afterwards, after I got dressed, he said he noticed my hamstrings were tight which was probably causing my back problems and demonstrated several stretches to increase my flexibility. Li is one of the best therapists I have gone to. I recommend her to everyone here in Seattle. I have a lot of tightness between my shoulders and have nerve pain on the outside of one leg. Li has great intuition, so I do not have to communicate a lot during my session. It may be a little painful during the treatment, but I am pain free and loose for days after. I like this place a lot. It's very simple, which I love. To me, there is nothing relaxing about getting a massage at an upscale spa. After coming home one weekend from a stressful public speaking workshop, where I spent about 48 hours being super tense, I knew I needed to treat myself to a massage. So, I hopped on Yelp, and this place popped up at the top. 5 star reviews and located only about 5 minutes from me? Yes please! I called and they were able to get me in about 2 hours later. Awesome. Best massage of my life. The name of the woman escapes me, but I believe she is the owner/co-owner. My shoulders and upper back felt amazing after leaving. The prices here are also incredible.
