So, I decided to get a Dexa scan so that I could verify whether or not my Hume Bodypod scale was as accurate as Hume Health claimed. I'll cut to the chase and tell you it was surprisingly accurate, and within the margin of error, although Dexa is the "gold standard." I won't bore you with the metrics but I will bore you with the experience. First off, the location for the mobile service has ample parking and was conveniently located. The mobile van was clean, the technician - Suhban Khan was very professional and knowledgeable. Like myself, he was also a fitness coach and had solid knowledge not only with Dexa but also the leading body composition measurement devices on the market and smart scales. No. For most people seeking general health I would recommend getting the good habits of proper nutrition, exercise and proper rest before worrying about getting a Dexa but...it will help keep you accountable to your goals and honestly, the subscription service is pretty affordable. My partner and I are regular members who book scans a month in advance, usually on Sunday mornings. Unfortunately, the past two months have been extremely disappointing. Last month, my appointment was cancelled, and this month it happened again--this time with less than 24 hours' notice. To make things worse, my partner's appointment was cancelled the morning of. The reason given is staffing shortages at their "flagship" location, which is incredibly frustrating. We plan our day around these appointments, and having them cancelled multiple times is unacceptable. They need to hire more techs--after all, the job is essentially pushing a button. On top of that, their 5-minute grace period policy is ridiculous. While they tried to make up for the cancellations by giving us extra credits, it's not helpful if the appointments keep getting cancelled and we continue paying monthly membership fees while credits stack up. I'm giving this place 2 stars solely because the staff at the Bodyspec location are always kind and do their best to resolve issues. But the overall experience has been really disappointing. read more

I had a disappointing experience with BodySpec during my recent DEXA scan appointment. My appointment was scheduled for 1:58 PM, and I arrived at 1:55 PM. I waited outside the van, and when no one came out at the appointment time, I lightly knocked on the door. The employee opened it and immediately seemed frustrated, telling me there was no need to knock and that the door would open at the appointment time. I explained that there was no sign, window, camera, or other clear indication that anyone inside knew I was waiting, especially since I was standing outside in the heat. A light knock felt like a reasonable way to check in. The scan itself was very brief, but throughout the appointment and while explaining the next steps for receiving my report, the employee was texting on his phone. That made the interaction feel rushed and unprofessional. As I was leaving, I also noticed an older man arrive early for his appointment, and the employee did not seem to respond to him with the same frustration. Given that the scan only takes a few minutes, I expected the process to be smooth, simple, and professional. Instead, the experience felt unnecessarily uncomfortable over something as minor as knocking on the door. read more

BUYERS BEWARE. BodySpec should not be legally allowed to provide bone density scans. I have osteoporosis. I know this from a Dexa scan at a legitimate hospital Dexa scan (Seaton in Daly City). To double check the results I went to BodySpec. BodySpec Dexa scan showed I do not have bone density issues. After running around in circles with endocrinologists, I've learned that a Dexa scan from a non-hospital facility, like BodySpec, inappropriately takes into acccount muscle mass etc. when diagnosing bone, which gives skewed result. The results from the BodySpec facility said I have NO bone density issue. If I had not gotten a Dexa scan at a hospital first, I would have simply thought "I don't have a bone density issue". I have since double checked with another hospital Dexa scan which shows I do have osteoporosis. The wording BodySpec uses to get around the legalities of this is incredibly misleading. None of the bone density results from a non-hospital facility should be taken into consideration. Period. I can't believe this is legal. I spoke with the management at BodySpec who tap-danced around the fact that their scans are not legit. No accountability was taken. No refund was made. BUYER'S BEWARE. read more
