I have been training with him for about six months now, and in that time I have found him to be a highly energetic and motivational trainer who is very thoughtful about the workouts he puts together. When I first came in for a fitness evaluation, I was pretty nervous because, frankly, I've never been very good at this fitness stuff. Fortunately, Leon was super welcoming and made me feel at ease, even when I had trouble completing my first workout (I barely made it past the warm up, not because it was a crazy workout or anything like that but because my body just wasn't used to much physical exertion). Leon very patiently helped me push through all that. In addition to personal training with Leon, I have also taken a few boxing classes with Coach Herb. Those classes are a lot of fun and I would also recommend them. I should add that Leon is a good guy who lives in the area and is invested in the local community. I live a few blocks away and am very happy to be able to support a local business.

Only one of the men's showers works and has a soap dispenser. The middle one has been broken as long as I have been going there, with a big HOLE in the wall covered with see-through plastic where you can see the (nonfunctional) pipes. The third is missing its handle and its soap dispenser and they can't even put even hooks on the shower curtain. And now the swimsuit spinner is simply MISSING from the wall, with connections still hanging out where it used to. DC LOVES to built NEW facilities but apparently has zero interest in maintaining the ones it already has. I note that users are "required" to use the shower before getting in the pool. Good luck with that. Is the women's locker room this crappy or is just the men's locker room nobody cares about?

As soon as you enter, it's obvious it's a nice studio with a welcoming vibe--the class instructor checks you in, and there's free tea and animal crackers to take while you get settled in and hang up your coat. There's a free lending library in the lobby, too. They don't charge for using their mats and props which was a pleasant surprise. And the classes themselves are great! A well-rounded practice and not over-crowded with attendees. They have a wide variety of class options (yin, Hatha, kundalini, pre-natal) as well as multi-week workshops and events. They offer classes both in person and live online. For a little studio they have a lot to offer! It's not the cheapest yoga spot in DC, and there are only about 5 classes per day, but it's been a great experience so far. I'm glad I took the leap and got a membership (also because the first month is half off!)

For the last 10 years I have been studying my own psychology and using Cognitive Behavioral Therapies to overcome the narcissistic abuse from my childhood home. Although understanding my circumstances has helped me overcome a lot, the growth that I have come into since joining this studio does not compare. Over the last 3 months I have stopped coping with my pain with the use of Marijuana. Through the intentional movement, breath work, and meditation on a regular basis I am now able to see my own projections and even those of others which has allowed to engage with the relationships in my life differently, more productively. I have also stopped disassociating in intimacy something I did not realize I was doing from being a victim of sexual assault and rape. This place has taught me how to come back to my body and be present in my life without bringing my past back into my present. I cannot say enough of how eternally grateful I am for this place that has become a community of support and guidance. Thank you to all the instructors who brought light back into my life. Even my trajectory of my current career path is changing. Since the practice was sold, one change in particular has made things unnecessarily difficult: prescriptions for outside pharmacies can no longer be sent electronically. I confirmed with my pharmacist at Chewy that they are willing and able to receive electronic prescriptions, but District Vet will not send them. Instead, clients now have to request a written prescription and then coordinate getting it to the pharmacy themselves. In a time when digital prescribing is standard--and when people are already dealing with rising costs and busy schedules--this extra step feels avoidable and inconvenient. It's hard not to feel like this policy discourages clients from using more affordable or preferred outside pharmacy options. I understand that change is part of any business, but it's disappointing when those changes make things harder for long-time clients. I hope the practice reconsiders policies like this and continues to prioritize the convenience and trust of the pet owners who have supported them for years. Spread the word and provide District Vet your feedback on this change.

But she stared for a few more beats from behind the glass, our faces a two feet apart, looked me up and down, and then reluctantly opened the door and said "YOU are looking for the hardware store. It's 'OVER THERE' ..... there's a *SIGN*" and in a passive aggressive tone that was really unnecessary gestured toward a big sign on the door that directed people looking for Ace Hardware to go nextdoor. I said "nope, I'm actually looking to learn about Pilates," but it was such a turn off that I turned and left. I assure you, lady, I can read the sign. And your judgments about who you think and perceive to be a potential customer was very disrespectful. It says a lot about the biases and prejudices you don't mask very well. Good luck!

We've been having a tough time cutting our shy puppy's nails. She's very timid and doesn't love her…read morenails trimmed, but we sent her to Patrick's and she was clearly treated well and with care and was so happy. She smelled great, had her nails trimmed and had the cutest bandana on! Great to have a spot in Brookland. A little pricey but knowing the staff is taking their time and being gentle with a shy pup is worth it! Will definitely be sending our little girl back!

My dog had such a great time here!…read more A little backstory. My Olde English bulldog had ACL and patella surgery almost four weeks ago. He isn't putting much weight on the leg yet and it still can be tender. PPC scheduled a google conference call with me ($5 to avoid no shows) to get details on what he needs during a groom. I spoke with Melissa and let her know my concerns about putting weight on and to stress that the groomer needs to be gentle with his leg. She assured me everything will go at my dog' pace and even let me check him in at the front door as stairs can be difficult still. I went ahead and booked the appointment, and am so happy I did. Drop off was very easy and convenient for me to drop off early morning and go back home to take meetings. I picked up my dog a few hours later. He was clean, smelled great and was so happy! I received his report card later that evening and was pleasantly surprised to see how detailed it was and that 4 wonderful people were involved with the grooming. Especially thankful for the time it took to sand his toes on his bum leg!! My dog had such a great time there he was worn out the rest of the day. I know he can't wait to go back! Thanks so much Patrick's pet care, Melissa, Jerniece, Mea and Andrew for the great experience! Burrito loved it there!! I signed up for the one week trial and had a great time! I was only able to attend four classes,…read morebut enjoyed each one. The instructors were really helpful and gave me some modification options. It would probably help to have some background knowledge of common lifts, but the instructors show the movements and they play on video screens if you need it. Everyone attending was generally in their own zone, so there isn't a lot of chatting because you really focus on getting the exercises done in the set times. I will say that the classes go by super quickly because you're always moving. Cons: The programming is set for the whole month. So each day of the week has its set program and you do that each week for the whole month. For me, this would get old (I really need variety). On the plus side, it does mean you get to see active gains throughout the month. The membership plan is a little pricey. I get why it costs so much, since they do have to cover rent and you only really attend during the class sessions. It isn't a type of gym where you just drop in when you want to use certain equipment. The unlimited monthly membership is $299, but in reality you are getting 30 or 31 classes depending on the month. Since the classes are the same all day, it is unlikely you would do two classes in a day, right? So the pricing is about $10/class if you do the unlimited monthly pass and you go every day. Some of the equipment was pretty smelly. I was at one station that honestly made me gag a little... I think the bench or maybe the dumbells had never been thoroughly cleaned with a bleach solution.
