Definitely my new massage therapist! Came in just for a muscle scrape on some body parts that I felt were lacking mobility and or would have muscle aches. After explaining about going to two "deep tissue" massage sessions at another location that was recommended, I didn't believe in massages as they didn't feel deep, they felt weak. There was no benefit from either of the two sessions. I'm not sure what Sherwin was checking between my pec and shoulder but he applied the kind of pressure that I felt like a deep tissue and I even said it out loud (paraphrasing), "now that feels like a deep tissue massage" and he replied, "that's not even deep tissue." That wasn't even deep tissue!? Welp I definitely want a deep tissue moving forward. I agreed to a session a manual manipulation with a muscle scrape add on. The entire session before the scrape was more firm, much deeper than any massage I've ever received. I knew Sherwin was the guy to go to from that point on. From the muscle scraping, he was able to identify muscle imbalances, which was accurate. And hit some spots that really needed it, especially the traps/upper back to mid back. Surprisingly, quads looked good compared to other body parts. For what it's worth, this is coming from someone who is 6'0 @ 253lbs (not obese), has bodybuild for 15 years and powerlifts for the last 6 years. There is literally nothing negative to say. The services that Sherwin offers changes the game in massage therapy. He is extremely educated in body mechanics and how your muscles function which add to the experience. He takes the time to analyze your body first to assess areas of need and he asks thorough questions on what is bothering you. He had me demonstrate certain techniques that I would use in the gym like squats and lunges and let me know of ways I can change my form or ways to stretch to help with the minor pains I have. Once his analysis is done and he gets to the massage part it is nothing short of a great experience. I've had some massages done before where there was barely any pressure used and when I asked Sherwin for a lot of pressure it was definitely delivered. I have never been so relaxed after a session with him. You may feel a bit sore after but my flexibility and muscle pains are so much better afterwards. I have even referred my dad, who has had chronic neck pain for over 15 years, and even he was amazed at his skill. THEM HANDS THO! Completely amazing! Sherwin is by far hands-down the best masseuse out there. In fact, his service goes way beyond just a massage. I came in to BodywoRx because I was looking specifically for more of a medical massage not just pampering. I injured my back and was having excruciating leg pain of which I was desperate for some relief. Sherwin first took a thorough history, then a complete consultation and evaluation of my back, body etc., along with muscle and other testing. The massage itself wasn't one where you just lay there, but I guess because of my condition, not only did I get a deep tissue massage, but interactive treatment and exercises, as well as exercise instructions to follow up with at home! Sherwin is AMAZING. I have always stayed around the $50/hour price-point for a full-body massage; prices here are more than twice that but well worth it. Not exactly sure what he's doing but it isn't just rubbing and kneading with hard pressure. He'll work from different angles and move body parts around to get to the muscle in different positions, even moving body parts as he is massaging. I highly recommend Sherwin if you're in any kind of pain! He is very knowledgeable about the body. In just one visit he had helped reduce pain and increase mobility. Unlike most massage therapists, you don't just lay still the whole time while he works on the muscle tissue. He takes an interactive approach to massage therapy by giving you some corrective exercises to redirect your pattern of movement. He also will use a Graston technique to release the sticky tissue that causes a lot of the pain. Got to say Hands down one of the most rewarding appointments I've ever had! Went in to see Sherwin with back pain that had been lasting over 2 months! I had severe tightness hindering my workouts and even minimizing my ability to go through my average day and after just one appointment I can honestly say I feel like he had the magic touch! Had a pinched nerve that left me having to roll out of bed, I'd say it was a 9.5/10 pain and had 0 movement in the neck without excruciating pain.
