John needed new orthopedic shoes and we went to the satellite location closer to downtown, but a couple days later we went to the OP location so that I could get scanned for insoles. I was blown away. By the outstanding service I receive. I have very wide feet that have a long list of issues. Velcro on my favorite pair of Wolky's wore out and I really need new straps to make them wider as I sit all day at work. They will be fixing them when my new shoes come in as I couldn't go home barefoot. Clean store. Using this shop from a referral from the Veterans Administration Clinic. It always takes forever to get an original appointment setup (1 month). Then you have to pick out of a limited selection (they don't tell you you can pick something else and pay the difference) which they have limited sizes. After they size you and place the order it takes 1-2 months for your shoes to come in and then they call you to make another appointment to pick them up which is another month out. I had a 3:30 appointment and there is no one in the shop out front and I did not get seen until 3:50. I was told they are running behind when there are 2 others not helping any customers. This has nothing to do with COVID because this is my third time using them for my VA referral and it is always the same. This store is so close to my home but I will opt to go across the river to the other vendor for my next annual appointment. read more

Welllllll.......I know it's me....but I never knew there were shoe stores quite like this! Very personalized service, you sign in and wait in very comfortable chairs before they can help you. We were there because I saw a remodeling sale on upper end shoes for just $60 so since I need a pair of upper end walking sandals-we went! They had many brands I never heard and prices were$100-185! OMG , who knew Israel made shoes but most were made in China! Regrettable any sandals I may have liked (on sale $60 ones) they did not have my size. The salesman was very nice, not snooty that I was surprised at the cost of most of these shoes. If you have feet/ leg issues these were the shoes you need to be mobile with and you only owned a few pair-the cost could be justified. For me, though I would love all my shoes to be this quality..I just don't need it. read more

I wanted to like this place. They make it very difficult. The Good The staff was very kind. We talked about Doctor Who, and he helped me with my custom sizing issues. I like local business. The Bad First... Not necessarily their fault except their location, but the parking situation is awful. It is terrible to drive here then circle around looking for parking. Second... Somehow there is always a wait. While the staff seem nice, Boone is in sort of hurry. J feel like having one person dedicated at the counter to triage customers as they come in would help with the long delays. Third... I ordered some custom sized compression hose for post surgery care. They were not cheap. Within a week of wear with careful adherence to the wash instructions they tore. I called the company who said to talk with the vendor about a return. When I went in, they would not return them even though it is clearly a product flaw and the company said they would. Just very shady the way they handled it. With all the pros and cons, I cannot recommend this place. read more

They have the best shoes in Jacksonville-Five Points. You can come in a shop, but they take the people who have appointments first. I did not know they did that. Maybe it's new or they could of been doing this all along. I only come in once or twice per year. It's so much better to spend a little more money for a "good shoe" that will look good and last for a long time. I came in looking for a pair or two for spring and summer. An Older gentleman helped me and he was very good at what he does. A true expert with shoes. Next time, I will set an appointment up to see what it's all about. I did noticed that they remodeled the store to a minimal standard. I like the old way better, but what do I know? I love their selection of Dansko's clogs. They are so comfortable. I ended up leaving very happy with two new sandals for the summer. The shoes were both on sale. I live the great savings for very good shoes. read more

Selection is very sparse but all shoes are top quality. Good fittings. This store caters to some insured trade and is not nearly as attractive as a retail shoe outlet as it used to be. It needs much more inventory. The staff blamed COVID for lack of supply. Way too many shoes for infants and young kids. Still will return. read more

I bought a pair of Florsheims here. Due to the way I walk, I always wear a hole in the soles. Totally my fault, yet after a month and a half, I had already worn a hole in these! I took them back in, looking for a good price to re-sole them. (The reason I BOUGHT re-sol able shoes). Mr Boger looked at them, shook his head, and said after 40 years in the business he'd never seen anyone wear out soles like that. Then he surprised me and said he would re-sole them free of charge! Saved me about $50! It is refreshing to run into a man who still knows how to conduct business and keep a following! He now has a lifetime customer! read more

The only reason I give them 2 stars is because the gentleman that fitted my mother for her diabetic shoes was very nice. However, we were there in April and still have not gotten any feedback about the shoes. I have called 4 times and have yet to receive a call back. Meanwhile, my 88 year old mother is walking around with ill fitted shoes because I can not get the courtesy of a phone call. This is the best shoe store I have ever visited. My wife, with an ulcer on her right foot, could hardly walk from our car to the store, and now she can walk comfortably, if slowly. I have the most comfortable sneakers I've had in years. The service was personal and professional. I have no complaints whatever, except that the store was hard to find, since I am not familiar with Five Points in Jax. I contacted them by phone, and the clerk talked to me and helped me find it. If you are under a care of a doctor. Additionally, they have walk in service although the shoes out on the show room floor is a small selection. One year ago, I brought in a prescription from my podiatrist for custom made orthotics and a heel lift. I'd had ended my leg PT at this point and wanted to make sure I didn't end up back in PT. The man who serviced me at this store looked at my prescription and decided that I only needed a heel lift "you are still young, I think just addressing the heel lift will solve most of your issue. And also it will be cheaper" I really wanted to trust that employee as this was a reputable business and surely they have customer retention so they must know what they are doing. One year later, yeah, no. It did not. If you have a prescription FROM A PODIATRIST, please just, follow the prescription. I want to keep my feet/legs healthy, of course I've already weighed my options before coming to the store. This store does a good job of lift sole attachements (at a high price) but my experience left me a bit bitter and jaded and I felt like I wasn't listened to and my injuries that needed a very specific treatment were not taken seriously. I have been going to Boger's for several years now, and whether my purchase is big or small, I am always given quality attention. I've been a loyal customer at Bogers for at least five years. I can't say I've ever been treated well there. I go for the selection & location. I typically leave about $200 lighter in the wallet. I don't rely on Medicare or insurance for my purchases. My last visit (yesterday) was my last visit period. Mr. Boger is a nice man with a good business. However, his staff members are angry old white men that are rude, condescending, & downright nasty. I guess since I'm not over 60 with government benefits, they think it's OK to act abusive. Boger's offers specialty shoes and amazing customer service. My mother has a stroke over 10years ago and has purchased shoes from Boger's that are sturdy enough to support her AFO. When a returning customer comes in, they pull out a notecard that has a record of all of your previous purchases to guide you on what items fit your needs. They also send reminder notes/calls when it's time to get a new pair. We will continue to shop here for her shoe needs. read more

The shoes were available in a size that's hard to find, and they are super comfortable, very attractive AND sturdy. I see a few google reviews that are negative due to parking and the long wait. Bogers has changed over the years. It once was a wonderful place to shop and get treated with care, patience, dedication, COURTESY, and professionalism. It had a good reputation for years. I've shopped there for what seems like 40 years, but NO MORE! They have a bunch of old men, black and white, who are there now and they are all RUDE, grouchy, pushy, and driven to sell, sell, sell. When I walked in the door, I was "snapped at" gruffly, "YOU NEED TO SIGN IN!!! Snort. Snort." Whoa. I replied, "Nicely, please." "Huh??". I replied, "You can make that request a little nicer, sir. Not so rude." They are just gruff. A week later, I went to pick up the shoes I had ordered and got another salesman. He was unbelievable RUDE. I had already paid half-price of the $200 shoes and was going to buy them, but I was checking for defects because the shoes are hand made and very often do not have consistent quality in production. For $200, I am going to examine the shoes. But ohh no, the AAmer salesman kept talking,talking, arguing, pushing, pressuring and "never shut up". I finally said "ENOUGH. Please". He continued with the non-stop sales pitch (on shoes which I knew I wanted!). He kept arguing for NO REASON and pressuring FOR NO REASON. He then smarted off with, "If you take these home and wrinkle the patent leather, we will not take them back!" I wasn't planning on bringing them back. I had worn that same exact shoe for four years prior. I finally just said, "Whoa!. That is IT!. Can't take any more! Give me my money back. I will go to another store and reorder the same shoes! You are rude! You have pissed me off now! " He would not shut up and let the customer simply examine the shoes, their fit. Just pressure.. He then snapped at me rudely that he apologized. Zero sincerity in his voice. Same arrogance and rudeness. He then shouted at me, "I APOLOGIZED. I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE I CAN DO!!!!!" (how about being courteous, being sincere, and quiet....and letting customer see if the shoes were okay....) I got my money back after waiting 15 minutes and did indeed reorder the same shoes from another store. I got no apology from Mr Boger or management. Also, for the record, when I purchased a $100 pair of shoes that did not fit, they would not take them back and although they offered a future discount, I never got that either. While I was in there, a nurse came in and had a box of shoes and said, "These shoes are killing my feet!! I can't walk in these shoes! I want to return them." They them sawed into her, accused her of wearing them and soiling them, etc. etc. They were rude to her also. They have a bunch of old grumpy men for most part. Didn't see any females. They need some younger, more patient and courteous female salespersons. Presently, it appears they are like sharks trying to make money, make money, make money. Felt like used car salesmen had latched onto me and would not shut up. SAD- - Bogers used to have such a good reputation. It's gone downhill. Customer is "always wrong" at this store.
