It was refreshing going into a shoe store that knew how to find the right shoe for me. Not to mention the brand lululemon.

I initially brought my bike in because I needed a few specific issues addressed:…read more* Brake service (front brake was slightly contaminated) * Wheel truing on both wheels * Front tubeless wheel not holding air I was clear when dropping it off that I wanted the bike returned in fully rideable condition. When I picked it up, everything looked fine. However, once I got out to the trail, I quickly realized that neither brake was providing adequate stopping power (Shimano XT). I ride black and double-black trails regularly, and the brakes were absolutely not safe for real trail conditions. I brought the bike back to the shop and explained that the brakes were not functioning properly. The technician became defensive and said, "They work fine, I tested them," then demonstrated by stopping inside the shop. That test is not representative of real riding conditions, especially for aggressive trail riding. The shop also informed me that the front wheel was losing air, stating it needed to be retaped and that I might need new tires. I sent the bike back again. The brakes were eventually fixed, but the rim tape issue was not resolved, despite that being one of the original reasons the bike was brought in. Between the initial brake issue, the dismissive response when I raised safety concerns, and the unresolved tubeless problem, this was the worst experience I've had at a bike shop. I no longer feel comfortable having safety-critical work done here and will not be bringing my $3k bike back.

Customer service is horrible. Gave this business a second try but everytime I walk in there feels…read morelike I owe them something. Cheer up a lil bit, if you don't like what you are doing then get another job.

Starting with my initial phone call to Open Road, every interaction I had with the staff was handled courteously, professionally, and knowledgeably. I dropped my bike off and received an apology that the work probably wouldn't be finished until the following week--no problem since I wasn't in a hurry, but I appreciated the warning. The work was indeed done the following week and to my complete satisfaction.

The kind of job that shouldn't take longer than about 30 min. I explained that I'm from 1.5 hr away and I'd like to make the drive only once if possible. I asked if they would be able to schedule me an appointment to get the work done. He said I'd have to call back and speak with Jeff the next day. I called back and spoke to Jeff and explained my situation. He said they're really busy and wouldn't be able to get to it today. I asked about next weekend or the weekend after. It became very clear, he had absolutely no interest in doing the work. I said I'll find another shop. Poor customer service. Sadly more of the norm when it comes to bike shops these days.
