In July 2011, I was rear ended while at a stop, the other car was doing 50MPH and never hit the breaks. As a runner, I was devastated as I had my first half marathon in only 6 weeks. On top of that, I had plans to go to Hawai'i only 4 weeks after the accident. I continued appointments and treatment with Ellyson Chiropractic and, while not 100%, was able to still do both. I couldn't hike Diamond Head as I wanted, and I had to walk a few miles on the marathon--but the fact I could do any of it was a feat! I love, LOVE, LOVE, how they adjust here--not with tools or instruments, but their own body weight to manipulate my body into correct placement. I have a reoccurring ankle injury, a result from a childhood sprain. For years after each sprain, even after swelling had subsided, I would have to deal with the sharp pain of setting my foot down, as if someone were poking the bottom of my ankle joint with a needle. This pain would slowly go away, but I was never sure if it was healing the way it should. I met Dr. Ma by chance as I was taking my mom to see him after an auto accident she'd been in. I had recently sprained my ankle again playing soccer and was still limping around. My mom asked if he could do anything to help; he didn't hesitate to take a look and then readjusted it right then and there. I was amazed and grateful to walk out of his office without any more pain. Since then, I've asked him to reset my ankle another three times, and each time the rest of my ankle also healed much quicker. I felt much better knowing I was giving my ankle the chance to heal properly. I also like that Dr. Ma does not suggest unnecessary procedures without assessing the situation first with his mind, hands, and simple instruments. One time (also a result of soccer) I suffered a knock to my left rib area. The pain wasn't terrible but it was quite uncomfortable, and I wasn't sure if it was a muscle or bone problem. Dr. Ma happened to be in Oroville that day, so I called another local chiropractor asking if he could readjust me. That chiropractor told me he needed to take an X-ray before he could do anything. I told him I was pretty sure it wasn't that serious of an injury to require an X-ray, but the doctor flatly said he would not work on me unless I took an X-ray. I refused, bore the pain and waited until Dr. Ma was back in office to go to him. After assessing my back and ribcage (with no X-ray) Dr. Ma explained it was an issue with the floating rib, probably a result of a shoulder to shoulder tackle I had received, and readjusted me. Yang got me in right away and in less then a minute of me laying on the table he knew what the issue was. He could see that my left leg was shorter then my right. He went right to work and explained everything that was going on. I stood up and the pain had gone down. I came in at a pain of 10 and left at a pain of 7. He said it would be like that for a few since I had been in bed for 5 days and needed to get circulation back in the muscles. The next day I was able to walk around for long periods of time and the pain dropped to a 5. I had somewhere to be on Saturday at 9 am and he made an appointment for me to come in at 8:30 to get another treatment! Dr. Jung uses a different method of decompression therapy that I have benefited from and for me keeps me tuned up and not feeling the everyday pressure from compression from sitting and mild everyday lifting around the house. The point here in sharing each of these chiropractic offices is to emphasize decompression therapy works and is definitely positive experience, was for me.
