Wife took the dog there 3 months ago for an infection in his front paw. All's they did was treat the infection. They never took any blood work. Today I lost my dog from Lyme disease. The vets said 3 months ago, he was bit by a tick. The same spot where they treated him for an infection. They never tested his blood for Lyme disease. We could have started treating it then.. Or he'd be alive today. The black guy with the dreadlocks he would have done a full exam on my dog and my dog would be alive today. He was a good vet. I wish he was still there. read more

I absolutely love oakwood for all my exotic animals, they make me so confident rescuing animals because I know they are there to take care of them for an adorable cost, they are so friendly and caring, I take all my reptiles there and my lionhead rabbit, they do a fantastic job grooming him, when I first got my rabbit he was severely matted and they did a PHENOMENAL job of gently removing the mats, the most recent time I had him groomed he needed to be sedated(based on his tolerance for the situation) and they handled it so wonderfully and my rabbit was hopping around just like his normal self the very same day read more

This was my first vet experience as a new dog owner, and at first I didn't know any better. I appreciated the efficiency at which I could get in and out of the office. However once my pets had more serious issues, I realized that Oakwood operates like an assembly line. Tbh ye get you in, they get you out, and they don't spend meaningful time with you or your dog. I had to work to keep the vet in the room to answer questions and do any sort of actual looking at my pets. The techs are great. Very kind. The phone never is answered for me, it always goes to a busy time without ringing. I had to go into the office to even talk to anyone. When I requested records so I could leave for another vet, they were incomplete. read more

I just moved to Troy, and brought my 17-year-old cat in to Oakwood for a general checkup and to ask some questions about end-of-life. I waited for around ten minutes in the waiting room, spoke with the tech in the exam room for 3 or 4, and told her my concerns. The vet came in without greeting me or introducing herself. She was loud, abrupt, and impatient. The "exam" was over in 3 minutes. A tech came in, cut my cat's claws, disappeared. Another tech took her out of the room to weigh her. The vet disappeared. The tech told my cat weighs 6.3 pounds. She's lost almost 3 pounds. The vet was long gone, though. The place is run like an assembly line. read more

The one was more focused on arguing about mosquitoes in So FL and I told here I lived there for over 3 years without a bite. Also loved on the 30th floor w a cat that stayed indoors. I don't like to be negative or write anything bad, especially publicly. I thought about writing on Yelp 3 months ago and thought, no, just be nice. 3 months later - It's still on my mind. I'm not here to be mean or for any kind of retaliation. I actually hope Oakwood Vet will do better. I'm here because I feel the need to warn people. Pets are your everything and you want the best for them. I know my dog was my life, my heart! My now broken heart. Go with your gut, I wish I had. First, Oakwood Veterinary Clinic is filthy!! Year after year, it just got dirtier. After reading this you'll question why did I keep going there? Well, in the beginning they had different Drs working there and they were really good. The past couple of years, I just kept hoping they would do better and at one of these check-ups, I'll get a good Doc. You rarely see the same person. Towards the end, which I hadn't known it was the end, I kept telling my husband "I need to switch vets." I wish I had. My dog was limping, thinking arthritis, vet said yeah, probably. Gave me meds to take sparingly as it wasn't good for his organs. That's it. Go home now. That's it! So, I was giving him one pill every Friday. I knew he'd be jumping in and out of my truck on Fridays, so this was to ease the pain. Well he was not getting any better, actually worse. I called and they were surprised that I still had meds left. I explained that the vet said use them sparingly, they are not good for him. So they called me back and said the Doc said I need to give him the meds daily/as needed. I wanted another appointment, we needed to do something not just say "it's arthritis and go home." (I didn't actually say that to them, I was nice.) But that had been their solution. So they scheduled me about a week out for X-rays. In the meantime his pain got worse and he could no longer jump up on the bed and was eating less. I called and was told to continue to give him those meds daily and come back next week on Monday instead of Wednesday. He wasn't taking the meds Daily as he was too sick to even eat. He just kept getting worse. Blood work was done that Monday and showed kidney failure. The vet said, that's why I told you not to give him the meds very often and he should have had blood work done. She immediately tried putting blame on me. The nerve! Trust me, I always put my dog first and if he ever needed anything, anything at all, I took care of it. No, she outright lied. The second time, she told me to give the meds daily and as often as needed! Luckily, he wasn't eating, so I wasn't giving him the meds as she tried to blame me for doing. Plus there was no previous conversation of blood work, ever! Now, she is coldly telling me he can go to an emergency vet and maybe he might live through the night or he needed to be put to sleep. I was in shock! Just a few days ago he was playing in the yard with me like a puppy and jumping in my truck. I'm now crying my eyes out, trying to understand, asking questions. The Vet did not want to talk or explain the bloodwork results to me. I was basically begging for answers, she just kept pointing to the chart with his numbers and saying blood work earlier would have been good. The vet looked at me and said I leave at six, it will have to be done soon. She gave me time to call my husband. Then came back in the room (I'm bawling) and she literally looked at her watch and said it's now or never, I leave in 20 minutes. Now you can say oh she might be a pet person not a people person. NO. She always treated my dog just as bad. He was always scared so he would growl and she didn't like that. I'm actually not even giving you the full picture of how cold this woman was to me and my dog. It wasn't much different for others working there, they were not very good with my dog. I will say 1 girl was good to him. The phone staff were always good. I left in tears (with my dog). If you are looking for an EXCELLENT vet, go to Brunswick Veterinary Hospital on Route 7 (Hoosick Rd). They are awesome. So clean and the most caring staff ever! Brunswick Veterinary Hospital took the best care of my dog right to the end. A big thumbs down for Oakwood vet. Brunswick Clinic called Oakwood for my dogs records. Oakwood realized he would be going to sleep. Then, later that day, Oakwood called me to see if I was still bringing my dog in for X-rays. Avoid this place at all costs. Not only are they rude, but it seems no one there has any clue what they are actually doing. They clearly don't know how to put proper notes in the charts and book appointments accordingly. For the second time in a row I was given a prescription to sedate my cat before the appointment. And for the second time once I got there they were completely unaware that she had to be further sedated in order to be able to complete the exam and administer her vaccines. This vet clinic is the sister clinic if Boght vet clinic, both have good reviews on Google. I decided to give it a try after doing more digging. However, the Yelp reviews here do not have the same reflection as what you may see on Google, I want to share some of my personal experience. This clinic is next to the Oakwood Cemetery, depending on which way you come from, the entry might not be that obvious. There are plenty of parking spots outside, and the building is a good size. The facility is clean, and the waiting area is decently spacious, but the lighting is kind of dim, it might not set the mood right if you are bringing in your sick companion. However, one thing I have observed is that they are short on staff, sometimes you will see no staff at the front desk. And often the staff are running back and forth in the hallway trying to accommodate different customers. They do have nice size, clean and organized examination rooms. Yet, I wish the staff here are a bit more passionate about seeing pets. read more

I have taken my two cats to Oakwood Veterinary Clinic for several years now. If all you need is a place to take your cats for vaccines and a routine and lackluster yearly poking, then they are fine. Unfortunately, my cat has some issues. She's overweight and has some constipation problems. Last year, I sought advice on methods of helping her to lose weight. They were singularly unhelpful there, which at the time I forgave, as cat weight loss is a difficult topic. This past month, my cat start to escalate in her constipation issues. She started pooping in strange places, places that she's never pooped before, and she showed signs of discomfort. I took her to Oakwood, and after a brief examination, they prescribed her a laxative and sent us home. I tried to bring up her weight issues, but received limited input. I faithfully tried the laxative, even though I've tried the same laxative in the past with limited results, and to my complete lack of surprise, no result. Frustrated, I decided to take her somewhere else. It was a completely different experience, and it made me realize how much was lacking from my visits to Oakwood. The new place took a keen interest in how much food she was eating and what kind, and was able to advise me on additional things to watch out for. They also took her constipation issues very seriously. They suggested a full blood panel, with urine and fecal analysis, something that Oakwood never even mentioned as an option. Following those results, I can say that my cat has a UTI. I can't say how long she's had it, as Oakwood never checked. I understand that diagnosing animal medical issues is difficult, but in my opinion, that just means that the vet has to be more thorough in examination, not less. The fact that these other options were never presented to me is disturbing. It's not like I've ever quibbled at vet bills, so what was the hold-up? I suspect it was simply that they didn't want to take the time. They were, quite simply, placating me when I brought concerns to them, rather than seriously investigating. Oakwood Vets, where you are always treated like a stranger. Between the Bought and Oakwood locations, my family has been going to these vets for 50 years; back to the days of Dr. Lamb and Dr. Oles. No matter the diagnosis, the friendly, professional, caring manner of the doctors and staff always brought one comfort. With the extreme expansion, and turnover over the past few years, this place has completely lost its touch. No longer are you greeted with a familiar face or a comforting, understanding, sympathetic look. I don't remember how long it has been since I saw the same people working at the counter. As recently as a few years ago, we would be greeted by name, seen quickly, and never questioned when wanting to defer a payment, or adopt a pet. Now, no one knows us unless we are lucky enough to see Dr. Wagner (the dad). I went in today to adopt a cat that was available, paperwork ready. The ringnosed unpleasant desk monkey informs me there is still a "few" days before I can take the cat home. I was looking forward, all day to see and get to know my new baby. Oakwood vet was great , I have been there with my dogs since they opened their doors. My MooMoo was one of the first patients seen. Dr. Wagnor was awesome! MooMoo got cancer He removed it twice and then prescribed antibiotics until she crossed the rainbow bridge he didn't push 100 different tests. Now I have Buddy. He's an awesome little guy. Well the staff at Oakwood , They make me feel like I am being judged, and Looked down upon. And tests are pushed . For instance, My Buddy has an corneal ulcer, I think he scratched himself. Any how I called the clinic to tell them the circumstances with Buddys eye, For an emergency it will cost XXX + XXX for the test +XXX for the meds. So I was forced to wait until his check up because of these $$$$ signs. His eye was getting better on it own! So the vet looked at his eye and told me what was wrong, here we go pushing the test more $$$$, The point I am trying to get across is the eye medicine is general and would have treated any problem with the eye. What would have been so hard to just give him the medicine the first time I called? Yep, In the past 3-4 years the service , compassion, and respect has gone out the window. Now its all about money and new ways to get it. I will be searching for a new vet , his rabies shot is good for 3 years. I will bring him back for her to see if the eye is better. And it is. I didn't appreciate my 6 pound dog having a muzzle on either. I know it is for safety but jeez. read more

I've been taking my 15 yr old PBGV to Oakwood for almost 2 yrs. She has been prone to urinary tract infections which have increased in frequency as she's gotten older. I recently had to take her to the emergency clinic, where I spent over $500 to have her put under a different, more helpful medical regimen which should have been done by her regular vet. Instead the same medication was continued, but obviously not helping. I have never been able to get an immediate appointment; even as an emergency you have to wait. Another complaint of mine has been the caps used on the pill bottles-their computer was red flagged for NO child proof caps, but every time I've had to ask them to change the caps. It's a very inefficient operation. I just asked for a form to transfer records-they don't have a form, but did copy her records. Not once was I asked why I am transferring Molly's care. read more

I have to say I'm shocked not to see a higher star rating. I have been using this clinic for a very long time. All my animals come here. And have for years. I have never had a bad experience. Infact I called to make 3 appointments for my 3 dogs to get their yearly parvo and nails done while we had the opportunity to do so. When I explained my one dogs nails are very thick and odd because she is so little and small bread, the lady asked if they had begun to curl. I said yes a few, now we always try and keep up on their nails, but this particular lill girl, hers grow fast and are hard to maintain due to the thickness and all. The lady put me on hold and got me an appointment for tomorrow. Just for her but was concerned she may feel pain exc. I have always had a wonderful, warm, and prompt experience with them. Last year our Rhodesian Ridgeback became sick in the night, and they seen her the very next morning almost immediately. Treatment was administered and by the afternoon she was no longer feverish and back on the run ( literally) . I just can't say enough about the care our 6, yes 6..... 3 cats, 3 dogs have received year after year. Thank you to all the oakwood staff. You guys are wonderful. very disappointed in regards to the staff. We came by saturday 6/12 at 12 to pick up my friends dogs medicine. There were two staff members sitting on the lawn playing with and feeding a dog. When we stopped the one staff member came to the car door and told us right off that they were closed for the day. The website says you are open until 4 on that day but she said no we are here just to feed the dogs, We just needed to pick up medicine, it was already paid for, it would have been a one minute walk inside fo that person to help us, they were going to have to go in to bring the dog back in anyway, after an hour drive to get there. now he is going out of town for three days and wont be able to get his dogs meds until wednesday! yeah but who cares about his dogs health i guess. read more

I spent thousands of dollars on multiple surgeries to have my dog's mast cell tumors removed. For weeks I called trying to make an appointment to bring her in because she was limping and could not put weight on her front leg. They supposedly could not accommodate me because they only had "emergency" appointments available and were "short staffed". I asked to bring my dog in as an emergency appointment and they again told me that they could not see her unless her limping was due to one of the tumors that they had removed 2 months prior. I told them that I did not know if her limp was related to the tumor coming back. Then they tried to prescribe her a NSAID knowing she had been prescribed prednisone (a steroid) for her mast cell tumors. You can NOT take a non steroid antiinflammatory with a steroid and any competent vet should know that! So after refusing the NSAID that they offered me and after going back and forth with them about getting my dog in, they told me to take her to an emergency vet because "they could not help her". I called Miller Animal hospital who got my dog in right away. Unfortunately, I found out that she had osteosarcoma and although I again tired calling Oakwood to get a second opinion regarding the x-rays which supposedly showed evidence of osteosarcoma, we ended up losing her within a week. I had to make the difficult choice to have her put down based on the recommendation of a Dr. who had only seen her twice for leg pain, instead of the doctors at Oakwood that I trusted. After she passed, I called Oakwood to let them know and they didn't even offer their condolences! The receptionist said, "I'll inform Dr. Wagner and we will take you off the vaccine reminder list" and that was it! After years of taking my dog to this vet and spending so much on surgery, dental work/extractions, and diagnostic tests, they didn't even send a letter or call to say that they were sorry for our loss. This was her primary doctor!!! The staff does not care about your pets and clearly the doctors are not medically competent if they tried to mix 2 medications that should never be taken together (and fyi, they prescribed my dog the steroid to be taken for the rest of her life to keep her tumors at bay, so clearly they didn't look at her medical records before prescribing a NSAID). If I had no medical background myself, I would have given her both meds and she would have gone into organ failure almost instantly. Oakwood had my sweet little 10 lb, 13 year old dog on 4 different medications and she never showed improvement... if anything, the meds only made her worse because she eventually developed Cushing's disease from being on the steroids for too long. Also, when I brought my dog to Miller Animal Hospital they were surprised that Oakwood Vet would even put my dog under anesthesia, not once, but twice, because she had a grade 3 heart murmur and wasn't considered "stable" enough to go under anesthesia. Do yourself a favor and go to Miller Animal Hospital near HVCC in Troy because Dr. Wagner from Oakwood and his incompetent daughter (also named Dr. Wagner) are not fit to care for a plant, let alone your fur baby. They never have time to spend answering your questions, they rush you in and out, and they are all about the old mighty dollar... not your pet and not you. The only good thing that I can say about this place is that the prices are pretty reasonable in comparison to what other veterinarians are charging. l read more

Now, twice I wanted to bring my 1 year old puppy in for an appt that I thought could be life threatening (I don't know if it was but I was worried), the closest appt is a month away. They charged me $50 to trim his nails, and they were not much different than before they clipped them. I need to find a new vet. read more

The reason for my visit was to have a dog euthanized, which is never a happy occasion to begin with. I have had two dogs euthanized there previously and I use Oakwood because they have a comfort room which affords the grieving owner the ability to sit and hold their pet during the procedure. The vet that came into the room was David Wagoner, who has been part of the practice for many years. Dr. Wagoner was the reason that I stopped using Boght vet a long time ago because I was so unimpressed by his 'bedside' manner. When he came in to administer the pentobarbital, he took my dog from me to put on a table and when I asked why I could not hold him, he said because they needed to find a vein to inject him. The last two vets I had seen there did not find it necessary to take my dogs from me and had no trouble finding a vein. The vet did not administer the serum but rather the vet tech did it and neither even bothered to listen for a heartbeat after the injection, which has been done in all five other dogs that I had euthanized. (not all at Oakwood) I was taking his body with me and the last thing that the doctor said to me was 'we will be back in with his cadaver.' HIS CADAVER! I have never had any one of the eight dogs that I have lost total, referred to as a cadaver! I was totally appalled that in such a sensitive situation that the best choice of words that Dr. David Wagoner could come up with was CADAVER! This happened yesterday and I am still just horrified that he uttered those words. Perhaps it is time for Dr. Wagoner to step down and allow more compassionate staff deal with grieving pet parents. If I am ever to use this service again, I will make sure ahead of time that I will not be dealing with Dr. Wagoner. read more

I started bringing my senior kitty here back in October when she looked like she'd been losing weight. She was diagnosed with hyperthyroid (not uncommon for aging felines). We tried some medications, which she was unfortunately allergic to. I didn't feel that surgery was an option due to her advanced age. I also tried an herbal remedy. I spoke numerous times with the vets over the course of a couple months while we tried these treatments. They were supportive throughout as well as when I decided to not continue any aggressive treatment and to let it take its course. I was blessed with 6 more months with her. The last couple of weeks I could see her starting to fail and yesterday, after a steep decline over the weekend, I decided to bring her into the office so we could help her pass. I called at 8 and had an appointment for 2. The receptionist I spoke to on the phone and in the office was lovely. The vet and vet tech were wonderful; extremely supportive and affectionate towards my sweet girl. The "grieving room" was a comfort. After she was given a sedative and then even after she passed I was provided plenty of privacy and all the time I wanted to spend time saying goodbye and holding her. Their good care made a horribly painful situation a little bit easier. read more

The shittiest vet I have ever been to. My dog has had seizures since he was 10 months old now going on 4 years old come June. He's been on the same meds since then and now all the sudden they have lost all his records. Made him go 2 weeks with NO seizure medication claiming bc he hasnt been seen since 2020 that they wouldn't dispense them until he was brought in, his meds are a control and require him to come in every 3 months for a blood sample in order to dispense his meds and he's been to both oakwood and boght vet. Multiple times since then. Every time you call someone else gives you a different excuse or answer.So made him go over 2 weeks without his meds said they would make me an appointment then stated I needed records from a previous vet got them the records just to be told that they still wouldn't do anything claiming he wasn't an established patient after 4 years of going to them and go to an emergency vet AFTER making my dog suffer for over 2 weeks having multiple seizures daily read more

I love this place. I have brought all of my kitties here and have always gotten compassionate and competent service from the staff and the doctors. Prices are GREAT. The clinic is clean and comfor6able for the animals. One thing I might ask is to have more comfortable seats for people who are large. This spot called and cancelled my cats immunization three times due to covid. Understandable, said they will call me to schedule a time when they open back up. Okay... Emergency it is now End of January 2021 with no call back and cat needs to be seen other place because they have no slots for my cat, which they canceled three times. I stayed here because it was close proximity to my home. Inside is filthy but doctor is nice, if you can ever get scheduled to see him. I brought my new puppy for a visit and a first check up last week. He was quickly given a shot and we were being sent on our way. No thorough exam, no time was given for questions, and very generic answers were given for the few I rambled off real quick. He became sick soulless days later and I was told he could be seen next week or pay emergency vet rates. I was not pleased so I found a vet that took him the same day, spent an hour examining and answering questions, and treated my sick puppy. Thank you to the new vet for caring for my pet, Oakwood needs to reevaluate the care they give. I was very disappointed. read more

My family and I have been going here for all of our pets since I can remember. Never had a bad experience with the owner... he has always been very kind, personable and accommodating. Today I went in and it was a completely different experience. I felt unheard. My dog was called aggressive (which is comical) and I was almost reprimanded for him being overdue for his rabies. I reminded them that they were supposed to call/text when he was due- and proved them wrong when they said they had reached out! The vet was very cold and rude to say the least; seriously felt like she didn't even like dogs. I made a few statements and got ignored. The reason I gave one star is because I was told to bring in my dog who is 13 yrs old for an emergency visit..I was never told there was a large fee...As soon as I told them I couldn't afford the blood work for my dog the Manager asked can't I call anybody, I will need to put a stop order on the bloodwork, and she also said didn't they tell you there was a fee?..This was done in front of other people...There was more compassion shown here...I will keep my dog home until she dies peacefully...I will never go there again and hope anyone with an older dog does not go to Oakwood Vet they are only there to make money as I was told from a staff member today..I wasn't asking for free service but a bit of compassion would have helped. read more

Over Booked, Short Staffed & Unwilling to discuss what turned out to be a difficult & unfortunate situation! I had a very embarrassing "meltdown" on the 20th of August (long story). It started with Boght being unable or unwilling to see my pet for a continuing pain issue that was causing her difficulty walking. The day ended with a receptionist touching a "nerve" (while I was getting meds), after what was a really tough day with the same dog who is very sick & was still in a lot of pain later that day. I said a few things that in retrospect seem to have been taken out of context and upset the staff. I also think they really disliked that what I said was at a time when their waiting room was jammed packed, so of course everyone heard everything. (I did not swear at all or scream, but I was loud and on the verge of tears). During my meltdown I "lumped" them in with a bad experience that I had earlier that day with an emergency vet. I also voiced my dismay that neither the Boght Office(over booked & under staffed) nor the Oakwood Office for the same reason couldn't do x-rays. Boght could only do Monday, but was booked full & Oakwood couldn't do any until Thursday! Sadly, it would have been a non-issue for me if the vet had done a quick x-ray of my dog's shoulder& leg the previous week when she was there for blood work! It was the second time I had asked and the 2nd time I was told that it wasn't necessary! The problem I have with this is I was paying for it (rather she needed it or not) and because the dog was on pain meds and not doing better, I wanted to rule out any sort of injury or find out if there was inflammation in the shoulder or leg. (The dog was going for an neuro evaluation on Thursday Aug 23rd, so the xray could have been used to rule out several things a neurologist might look for!) Anyway, by Aug 20th the dog was no better & in a lot of pain and never got the care I felt she needed so that I as her owner knew that I was doing everything I could to take care of her! So YES I had a "meltdown"! It happened @ a bad time, in a room full of clients. I left upset plain & simple! I guess soon after Dr. Ford spoke to the owner Dr. Wagoner (whom I have known since he took over the clinic) and they decided to BAN me and my pets from their offices. They also closed all records and services effectively immediately. That meant the the very same dog who I had the issue with was unable to get refills on her meds. She takes 8 different ones because she has 2 frontal lobe brain lesions and Encephalitis. Rather than call and tell my husband or I about their decision, after 25+ years of going there, I was informed (only after I called for medication & apt) that myself and my pets were no longer welcomed there. I was sent a packet of records and a letter stating the same thing 5 days later. Take about shocking!!! I tried to speak to the office managers about what happened, and although they listened and said they would talk to the owner, we never got a call back! My husband also tried to call and only got a call from Oakwood stating the Dr. Wagoner was too busy to call and that he would talk to Dr. Ford and someone would call in 2-3 days. NO ONE CALLED! It seems when you are making money hand over fist and booking 2 months out in advance, Banning one customer with 5 pets whom you have been doing business with for 25+ years is no sweat off your back! Even though they view me as being completely in the wrong, I feel a phone call was warranted or a chance to discuss what happened with the owner or Dr. Ford (who pretty much runs the Boght office now). I also feel that reaching out to the Emergency Vet that pretty much led to my "meltdown" would have been a nice thing to do. Because the Emergency Vet admitted their fault/part in a set of rather unfortunate incidents that happened that day. The Patient Care Coordinator was also willing to reach out to Dr. Ford or Dr. Wagoner on my behalf an explain what happened and that it probably would not have taken much to "touch" a "nerve" that day. Bascially, because they felt bad and after explaining my Ban from Boght & Oakwood they wanted to help me straighten things out. Anyway, all attempts to resolve the situation were ignored and Dr. Wagoner ( we trusted him with the care of 10 of our animals over the years and referred A LOT of patients his way) & Dr. Ford (who saw us through the loss of one beloved pet last year and established patient care with 5 of our pets with-in the past year) moved on! I always loved the staff @ both offices , never hesitated to refer people there and even through a few rough patches I never lost my trust or respect for them or the work that they do! The sad part is they never respected me or my pets enough to give myself or them a second chance! Bottom line: DO NOT TAKE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THESE OFFICES/VETS FOR GRANTED! IF GOD FORBID YOU HAVE A BAD DAY OR GET UPSET WITH THEM YOU MAY FIND YOURSELF UNEXPECTEDLY BLACK BALLED AND BANNED TO! read more

Wait times are a little too long , it seems like they double book or something ?!. Nothing special about this place

Oakwood veterinary was a huge disappointment. The staff doesn't seem to care much about getting to know you or your pet. Our vet didn't seem interested in answering any questions in detail and rushed us to the cash register. We've paid for preventative test that they suggested we get with no results until we reach out to them. They've done a terrible job notifying us of when to get shots. Our dog had no rabies shots taken (shes now 22 weeks) because they were so busy selling us on additional shots and testing, they forgot to have us schedule one. As first time dog owners we relying on them to keep us up to date. If you are an experience pet owner and just need 4 walls and a roof to have your pets routine maintenance done. This is not a bad place, especially if your from Troy. If your looking for a caring, comfortable, and thorough vet, I would keep searching. Good luck! read more

Being a new patience they saw my dog right away. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming. We waited all of 5 minutes before being called in. The nurse was very friendly, as well as the doctor we had. Also didn't wait long at all for the doctor in the room. Check out was fast and easy. (Preferred for my little anxious dog) Payment required at time of visit. No billing. You can never escape expensive vets but I thought here was reasonable. $45 for a rabies vaccination. They also have a pretty big turtle in the waiting room! More like a tortoise. read more

i would never recommend these vets!! david wagoner and brandilyn wagoner. no compassion what so ever! when your dog is in pain, can't stand or walk. which they know what is wrong with him and it's bad, was there the day before! you call them because he needs to be put down, can't stand seeing him suffer like this anymore, never going to get better. we call: staff, vet said we can't do that right now we're backed up and vets are going home soon! i know its 5:30 there open until 7; vets leave around 6! you will have to go somewhere else gave us number to up state vets in latham ( we live 5 minutes from oakwood) or you can call in the morning and make a appointment to have him put down! are you kidding me!!!!! he was there patient ! im sorry that was so wrong if they had any compassion for there animals, should have been for him! if you work anywhere, we know you might have to stay longer and in this profession you might have to make some excepts if you really have the compassion you should have in this profession! we brought him to the other place and even they just shook there heads in disbelief. upstate vet was amazing! at least he got the love and compassion he deserved! i'm glad in away i saw there true colors! would have never of got that from them! he was a beautiful bernese mountain dog, was only all most 13 months old! yes! only 13 months no compassion read more

Very compassionate and very reasonably priced. These guys aren't in it for the money as so many vets obviously are. Euthanasia with PRIVATE cremation was less than $250. read more
