We first brought our cat here for grooming and nail trim, they did amazing!! Why the one star now? We wanted to bring our cat back for a nail trim so called to make an appointment. Nobody answered the phone which is understandable, they are working on other pets. Their machine said to leave a message and they would get back to us. We did just that. We waited two days and heard nothing from them. We called back, same thing, leave a message and we will get back to you. We left another message with all the necessary information. It has now been two weeks and they never bothered to return our call. We made an appointment with our vet for the nail trim. Since our vet was the one who recommended Animal Hospital we thought it was only right to let them know the type of groomer they are putting their name behind. They were grateful we let them know. Please don't reply with the "short staffed" excuse everyone is using. It takes no time to return a simple phone call. read more

Chiloe and her staff provide top grade service. Our dogs always looked show case ready and enjoyed their play time there. Very experienced and professional. Chiloe gets to know your pet so well and will alert you to any concerns she may come across after grooming. She was the first person to notice and report to us that our Cairn Terrier Milo, had a small lump behind his leg. Unfortunately it lead to a lymphoma diagnosis. Animal House is like a Spa for your pets... I tried several groomers before I found Chiloe at the Cohoes Animal House, and not a single one knew how to properly hand strip my Cairn Terriers. After my 1st visit I was confident I had found THE Place to take them. Not only was my Topher groomed properly but I was able to leave him all day... essentially I was getting a full day of doggie daycare with each Spa appointment. Chiloe is extremely knowledgeable about my dog's breed and does offer healthcare advice when needed. In fact, she has noticed some issues with both my Cairns which has helped in the treatment of them at my Veterinarian. Parking for dropoffs & pickups is super convenient - it's curbside; and I've never had an issue with scheduling... If anything could be improved with this place it might be a live webcam or an appointment reminder text/email notification system.. but really, neither of those things are make or break it, right? read more

The Animal House was great for us. We have a 90lbs pit mix that won't let you clip his nails. We had to get setatives just to take him. In 4 visits the medication has been reduced and he has been more relaxed (though still anxious) while getting his nails clipped. The vet wanted to completely knock him out and two other places refused to cut his nails. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. read more

I've been to my fair share of groomers with my welsh terrier, and I have to say - Chiloe is hands down the best. Chiloe has groomed my dog since she was born, and had I not moved 10 hours away - she would still be doing it. She takes the best care of my girl. Chiloe is highly skilled in all areas, but she rocks at terrier grooming. She's won many competitions and one was even with my welsh. She always answers any questions that I have about my dog and is always able to give me the best advice. I used to love being able to come in and see my dog playing with the daycare dogs! After many failed attempts of finding a groomer in my new area, I was to the point where I was planning trips back to NY every 6-8 weeks just to get my dog groomed. I love bringing my dog to The Animal House! Chiloe is by far the best groomer in the region and beyond. I've lived all over the United States and have always had a dog. I always loved when I was in the area to get my dog groomed by her. Now that I live here, I wouldn't go anywhere else! She's a professionally trained groomer, not a pet store apprentice, and it shows! She does fabulous work! Not sure how there could be a negative review...seriously. We have been taking our golden to Animal House for a number of years after some not so great experiences at another groomer. He has some skin issues due to allergies as well as a degenerative issue with his spin that has cause issues in his hind legs. The best part is we trust that he is in good care while getting groomed, but he also looks adorable after each cut. read more

Avoid this groomer at all costs. This groomer, Chloe Hunt, was negligent and seriously injured our dog, causing a deep, painful abrasion to three fourths of the cornea of his right eye. When we arrived to pick up our dog from Ms. Hunt's shop, she casually noted that there was a problem with our dog's eye, and she claimed that he had "yelped" when she had tried to "pull away some of the hair" near his eye. She implied that the dog's own hair had somehow irritated his eye. This proved to be false. As the dog's eye was watering profusely and he appeared to be in great pain, unable to open his eye, we immediately took him directly to the veterinarian. According to our veterinarian, who expressed shock at the severity of the injury and disputed that the dog's own hair could have caused it because of the uniformity, depth, and amount of coverage of the abrasion, the injury could only have come through a sharp instrument being dragged across the corneal surface. When we confronted Ms. Hunt about the injury, and after we provided her with veterinary records documenting the injury and what caused it, Ms. Hunt failed to reimburse us for the reasonable veterinary treatment costs that we had incurred as a result of her negligence. After repeated requests for reimbursement and referring her to our veterinarian (who welcomed the opportunity to speak with her if she needed any further information), Ms. Hunt stopped responding to us at all. She has simply ignored us and has made no effort to resolve the matter despite the passage of several months. read more
