However there was one particular employee who did not treat me as respectfully as I felt I should have been treated. I arrived fifteen minutes prior to my appointment time, the receptionist was helpful, and performed her job well. I filled out and completed the electronic signature agreement. I am a previous patient with the Hanover location but had to relocate, and I must say I miss the fact that I was always greeted and treated with utmost respect at the Hanover location. I still had 5 minutes I beleive before my appointment time. Like clock-work I always go to restroom pior to examination because I am older and my bladder does not behave properly the way it use to when I was younger. I was also very nervous about my skin cancer screening. I have had cancer removals in the past years, I am always nervous about new cancers, and removals.I needed to go to the restroom but a person was occupying when one of the expressionlist nurse assistants (not sure of her proper title), opened the main doorway and called for my name. I was very polite, still waiting patiently for the restroom to become available, and I was not late, I probably had five minutes left before my appointment and the office was nearly empty, with barely any other patience. I told her I needed to use the restroom before I was seen by my Dermatologist and that it was currently occupied. The young lady continued to stare at me blankly, she appeared to lack any form of people skills. Where was the proper greeting that I never received all while she just stood there as if I had become a burden. I asked if there was another restroom in the building but she just replied with a "no. " She didn't think for one moment to say something logical like, "it's okay, take your time, I'll let the Dermatologist know, just come to the door and call for me after you've had a chance to go to the restroom. But NO, she had to be a nothing burger standing there looking stoned faced. I don't remember the exact exchange with the young women bur my husband was with me, (thank-God), but soon afterwards the bathroom became available and then we called for her afterwards to take us to my room. She did her job while in the room to ask a few brief questions before giving me instructions on how to wear the gown. No expression, or patient care whatsoever, a robot would have served me better! I think James River needs to know that first impressions of a company is usually judged by how humanly friendly your workers are, how well they are greeted properly. Your company is a business and should conduct themselves according, especially how costly medical is these days or how difficult it is to find common courtesy in the mist of the cost that we pay as patience for our care. I understand if this lady was having a bad day but as the saying goes a good employee should be able to leave their bad day at home while and not bring it to work. I don't know maybe this lady is friendly to other people, maybe it was just me she didn't like. Who knows, but Just standing there in the doorway with a gapping expressionlist look on her face, in silence was just outright disrespectful to an older women like myself twice her age and senior! Please train your staff to greet your patience properly, especially people my age who should not feel guilty for needing to releive themselves when there's only one public single restroom available at the front waiting room area. I'm writing this review one month post-operatively regarding Dr. Joe Niamtu's work and staff. For…read morethe record, mine was a 4.5 hour procedure under full-anesthesia and included upper and lower blepharoplasty, face lift, neck lift, chin implant, and full CO2 laser resurfacing. Not a small undertaking. Although additional enhancement procedures such as cheek implants and a lip-lift were options offered, none were pushed on me and I chose not to add either. A child of the hippie and feminist era, I never thought I would consider such a denial of my authentic self! I started my dialog with the staff in May of 2025, put money down in June, with a surgical date established in September of 2025. Though living far from Richmond, I had done my research prior to scheduling and was reassured that I had selected the right surgeon by the website, testimonials, and video tutorials of Dr. Niamtu which thoroughly prepared me for what was to happen. That being said, I had LOTS of questions before and after. Dr. Niamtu has addressed all of them with understanding and patience. If questions concerned other members of his staff, such as the anesthesiologist or the surgical nurse, he had them contact me directly. In the preoperative appointment, he and I went over the results I expected, and he clarified exactly what could and could not be done. Despite the understandable anxiety of going under the knife, he and his staff made me feel safe and every concern was attended to before and in the post-operative weeks that I was in the area. I wondered if after I left I would get the same responsiveness from them, figuring that once the car is bought and paid for, the dealer takes his money and runs, but that is hardly the case with Dr. Niamtu. My concerns during the healing process continue to be addressed. Being from out of town, I chose to stay in the Richmond area a full two weeks after the surgery. I wisely chose Susanne Singer as my caretaker. I would have stayed longer if Dr. Niamtu had indicated it was necessary, but he gave me the green light to get on the plane at the 2-week point. Surgical nurse, Breeden Browning, was excellent for her skill, but also when I talked to her woman-to-woman about how to maintain my results going forward. I am still healing, but I got just what I wanted, a younger version of me. I had had a good run as a somewhat attractive woman for many years, but at 75 could no longer enjoy what I saw in the mirror. This surgery ensures my last years will be celebrating what I see there. I look like my 55-year-old self, which wasn't bad at all! Can't thank everyone-surgeon, surgical nurses, anesthesiologist, and admin staff enough. Now I know why everyone said in advance, you won't be sorry.
