I just went in for my second session for adding some blonde into my hair. Right now it's a mother daughter duo, running the salon and they are both exceptional women. Very smart and kind people, I loved just getting to yap with them all session long. My hair turned out beautiful, and although it was a bleach straw, both of the times that I walked out of the salon my hair actually felt healthier. They are gentle and using the Aveda products really strive to heal any damage that processing may cause. Not many hairstylists put your hair health first like they do. read more

I was a return client, having had a great experience prior to new ownership. Emphasis on WAS. I booked my appointment via phone and discussed with the receptionist what I was looking for. When I checked in with the stylist I told her exactly what I wanted and showed her photos: a trim while keeping length, full very blonde cooler toned highlights, to lighten my overall hair/cover greys. I wanted a winter pop! The stylist seemed to understand and threw in the word dimension, I was loving the idea of two tones of blonde to brighten my look. Well. She added warm toned low lights, darkened my whole head, chopped 4+ inches off of my hair, added uneven layers, and left me in tears. As she started drying I noticed it wasn't nearly what I had asked for. I spoke with the receptionist about my absolute dislike of the services I received, it was NOT what I wanted and that I in fact hated the way my hair looked. She offered to call the owner, left another customer hanging who was just wanting to buy product (who ended up walking out). When the receptionist returned, she took photos of my hair and suggested that I email the owner directly (as she had conveniently left while hearing me upset and didn't have an alternative means of communication) and let her know what was going on, to send photos of inspiration vs outcome. She then told me that the owner was willing to "fix" my hair at an additional cost. I stated that I didn't want her to "fix" it, I'd just like to be discounted the services that I didn't even ask for. The receptionist "didn't have the authority to do so." I paid the exorbitant fee and immediately emailed the owner. No response. I tried calling the salon multiple times and they aren't answering... It's my loss and a learning lesson, however, I'm disgusted by the owner's complete disregard for proper costumer service and conscience. I made it to my car, and found the courage to go back in and asked for someone else to explain the charges to me when management did they had over charged me $80. Love getting hair cuts here but stay away from waxing! I got my first wax done here and the experience was terrible. I had no explanation of what was going to happen, what to do before getting there to make my experience easier and had to ask what position to lie in... the wax was so hot that the wax being pored on hurt more than the ripping as the waxing went on longer. Then I got no aftercare information. Needless to say I had terrible ingrown hairs on my honeymoon in spots I didn't want them. I wish I would have spent an extra few dollars to go to a place that specializes in waxing, not hair cutting. read more

My experience with Maddie was great! She did a deep conditioning and scalp treatment. She was very nice and knowledgeable. She was on time. Her product knowledge was exemplary. Do NOT go to this salon for complicated coloring! My hair was too dark so I had a consult, in which all they said was "It would be a process" to remove the dark color and lighten it. After 4 hours of color removal and color addition, my hair was ORANGE. They THEN told me it would take two appointments to fix the color, charged me $300, and sent me on my way. They also ruined my black shirt because the drape they used could hardly be called a drape and my hair was longer than it, bleaching my shirt. They would not refund me, they would not replace my shirt cost and sent me out into public with orange hair. Thanks for nothing! read more

I've been to this salon a few times and gotten my partner a cut here before as well. Each time I've been treated as if I don't belong in the salon and have had some issues with scheduling. I've disclosed that I'm Autistic to the staff and I feel as if I'm being discriminated against due to this. It's really disappointing to try to be a customer and then be treated as if they're doing my a favor by even allowing me in the space. After moving away from my beloved home on Oahu, I was hesitant to get my hair cut as it had been three years since my last cut and after my hairstylist left Oahu to LA I vowed that I wouldn't get it cut until seeing her again. However, after much research and terrible split ends I finally scheduled an appointment at Boheme. I originally scheduled for Wed 02/13 but called in Tue 02/12 to see if I could move my appointment to that same day and they were able to accommodate me. Hannah had great customer service over the phone, which to me is important because if I don't receive great service over the phone, I question whether the service in the salon will be great. Went in for my appointment with JOEL and had no idea what I wanted except that I wanted to chop a significant amount. Joel took the time to ask questions and making sure I was comfortable with his suggestions based on my answers. I love that I didn't feel rushed through that process. We ended up deciding on a cut that would not only significantly reduce my time getting ready (as a mom of four I don't have much time) but also shaped my face well. The entire process was wonderful, including the scalp treatment/massage! Joel ended up cutting about 16 inches off of my hair into an amazing asymmetrical bob that I love! Two of my sisters have already set appointments to get their hair cut at Boheme along with one of my friends today so I will definitely write to let you know how that goes but I won't change this rating because Joel, Hannah and Boheme deserve these FIVE STARS! read more

The vibe was wonderful however I paid $240 for basically nothing. My appointment was for a balayage. I showed Eliana what I wanted similar to the example pictures below. I was super excited and ready for some blonde and dimension in my curls. Due to the fact that my hair is textured and curly, I showed up to the appointment with my hair blow dried to make the application easier. Unfortunately as shown below my hair didn't turn out the way I expected or asked for. Alana did say that I could come back to get my hair lighter but as for the ombré or balayage smh that didn't happen. After going home and letting my hair dry I realized that my hair was orange and the highlights blocky (take 1 of pic). I went back to the salon and asked if she could fix it Elana said yes and we agreed on evening the highlights and toning and darkening my roots to make the highlights blend. Unfortunately( take 2 of pics) was the result. I'm not sure what this is but I'm totally upset. I see all of these beautiful pictures of hair with highlights and color even a couple with curly hair. What happened? I don't want my money back I want my hair done the way I asked and paid for. if I can't have that I would like the courtesy of being informed of what I can have given the scope of knowledge and skill of the hairdresser. My grown daughter is in tears and has wasted all day and over $200 at this place. She recieved the worst dye job I've ever seen and was gas lit and when she returned to have it fixed...it wasn't and she was rushed out the door, hair wet and barely acceptable. Anything is better than the splotches orange chunks on half her head...now they are kinda copper when she wanted blond and NOT CHUNKS and strings. They have zero idea how to do curly hair...STAY AWAY. It's a Holiday weekend and she wanted to splurge a little...now she's in tears and this Momma is pissed. While my hair stylist was incredibly kind, I had the worst experience at this salon. This was for my wedding hair. She was to do caramel highlights that looked natural with my light brown hair. Instead, my hair came out as so light blonde that I had gray hair throughout my head. I believe in giving second chances and was probably stupid for doing so but... when I called to ask them to fix my hair they said it would be free to correct since they messed up. I called back a few days later because I was anxious (was for my wedding, y'all) and the owner talked with me. She basically said that it will cost me to fix it and that I should be grateful. She said her hair stylist applied more hair color to my hair than how much I should have gotten with the price point we set at the beginning. She asked who it was that misinformed me because she would need to talk to her. I felt really bad for that girl and so I didn't give a name. I felt like the lady would probably yell at her or something. The phone call made me incredibly uncomfortable. Anyways, I go back to the salon and ask, once again, for the caramel tones in my hair. (I even showed her the same photos I came in with the first time). Instead, she darkens my hair to a really deep brunette color where the roots looked black. Instead of saying something and having them mess up a third time, I paid the money and left. On the way home, I cried my eyes out because now my hair didn't even resemble "me" and I didn't know how to fix it. I called my sister who was a cosmetologist from a different state. She gave me some tips on how to lighten it. I ended up having to lighten it from home and it still wasn't light enough. But, it was better than what this salon gave me. My hair is now damaged and I'm incredibly sad to write this review. But, I don't want someone else to go through what I did. I don't trust them with coloring and the owner was incredibly disrespectful. I won't be going back. read more

Couldn't have been more impressed. The place I booked my hair appointment for my wedding accidentally overbooked and ended up cancelling on me day of. I immediately started calling every place in the area and found that since it was prom, EVERY place was packed. Naturally I panicked, but after my aunt called around she found this place and explained my situation. They kindly acknowledged my struggle and seemed very invested in my story. When I arrived, they were more than apologetic for my situation and greeted me with a glass of wine. I met with their stylist Janna, who really went out of her way to give me a beautiful hair style. First impressions are everything and this salon did not disappoint! The front desk staff was kind, inviting and upon talking to them it was clear they were very knowledgeable and answered all questions to my satisfaction. I've seen several of the stylists and still unable to pick a favorite. They each exhibited a level of technical skill and professionalism one comes to expect from a salon of this caliber. Another touch that puts them above most other salons is the massage with essential oils. This is extremely relaxing and a great way to start and as a man was glad the scent wasn't overly feminine. I had a terrible experience with this salon. My appointment was scheduled the day before Thanksgiving and I had family emergencies come up that day. Obviously taking care of family comes first before a hair appointment. They did not take this into consideration at all and charged me half of the price of my appointment with no exceptions. I surprised my wife here for valentines. Both my wife and I have never gone to any salons here in redding aside from super cuts. This is our first one and I think This salon did a great job! My wife enjoyed her visit and her hair. Great atmosphere! Great workers! Great place! People seem to know what they are doing... Parking sucks because of the location but if your patient and Can wait then your good. You can also park to other nearby places and just walk towards the salon. I think the location is great because while I was waiting, I went to get lunch at chipotle. The stylists are great and very hospitable. Their skill level seems to be very good! I had a full body and a reflexology massage with Marie. She was so incredible, so tentative and checked in about pressure and comfort throughout the entire application. My only complaint was that I didn't book two hours hahahaha. Definitely recommend!! I wouldn't call this a aveda spa salon I've been going to Aveda salons for almost 30 years they are a cut above they give you hand massages scalp massages take your purse bring you drinks this salon does absolutely nothing but continue to hike up their prices. I get a partial bleach most places aveda salons charge $60 and that's their top people and that's at some bigger cities, when I first started going to this particular Aveda salon they charge me $50 now it's $95 and I get less care, never get a hand massage, never get a scalp massage never get offered anything, they're nothing but rude and only care about the dollar. When they do give their hair dressers a raise you're the one that pays for the raise by adding more money to the cost of your service... twice now since I've been going there my hairdresser quits out of the blue and they tell me they can't get me in when I've been going there for 10 years but I'm actually glad because I'm so happy now at an amazing Aveda salon that treats me like a queen. I'm actually gonna call Aveda and complain about this salon because it's a concept salon and there's certain things they're supposed to do that they definitely don't do ...they can't even remember to give you a pump when you pay $120 for a liter of shampoo when you've had to ask for it for three times what a joke! no wonder nobody wants to work there... they did me a huge favor by screwing me over for the second time, thank you! and also it's a pretty busy salon and they have two shampoo bowls do you think the owner with all the money she makes would go find a better building and if you can't rent one why don't you have one built that's what people used to do. When I first started going to the salon 10 years ago they had four stations for the hairdressers but the owner is so greedy to make more money and more money at the cost and comfort of her customers she's so greedy she added two more chairs instead of adding more shampoo bowls. Called to make an appointment for a few of us to go in to get mani/pedis, the salon never answered their phone, nor did they return the message that was left. We tried calling back a few days later, and again no one answered the phone, but we left a message anyways. By the time someone finally returned our phone calls, they did not answer our question and just left us a message to call them back.... not sure why they would suddenly decide to answer their phone if we did call them back, but at this point I was unwilling to keep trying to contact them. I'm not sure how they can stay in business if they don't communicate with their potential customers. On the website it showed, I believe 3 girls that work the front desk, not sure why they are unable to answer the phone or return messages, but I'm not going to keep working so hard for a company to accept my business. read more

Personally, I love Mckayla. She's actually a hair genie. She's sweet, considerate, kind, thoughtful, and honest about hair care, health, and has a good vision for the future care of your hair and what suits you at your best most beautiful self. However, after my appointment today, I won't be returning. I called, several weeks ago to make my appointment with Mckayla, and she was totally booked. She is quite popular now within the area, which is really wonderful for her. As she should be. I hope eventually she starts her own thing. I find the management there to be fake, passive aggressive, entitled, they miscommunicate often, and have overcharged me several times..for instance, "you need this full service" when that isn't what I actually end up getting at my appointment and I am charged for it anyway. I have never ever cancelled an appointment With them, and as a regular repeat customer, they still treat you like a number. They called me for an opening on a cancellation list two days ago, very short notice. I told them I would take it. I was working, had a meeting I was walking into. The girl on the phone literally expected me to stop my day so I could give her my credit card number over the phone for the appointment. Today, I called, needed to reschedule; or at worst, come in a little later, which I have never done. after many many full balayage appointments there. The first thing she says to me is "if you don't come in, I'm charging you 50% of the fee for the full service.".... I wasn't suppose to get a full service anyway. I didn't need it. I literally needed my balayage blended 2-3 inches from my root. they are ALWAYS overselling. So despite having a morning from hell. I went in anyway. because I didn't want to disappoint Mckayla. idk who the woman is that has literally no volume button, but she must be management of some kind.... learn to actually understand the que and responses of your customers. I won't return, honestly because of her. I find her responses to be in poor taste. Like, when I literally told you I am having a terrible morning, WTF is it needed to come up to Mckayla during my appointment that I now feel awkward and forced to keep and be laughing hysterically about some immature crap, that literally doesn't make any sense to a single person you are speaking to? learn your manners, upping your maturity levels for paying customers would be helpful. Also, every time I go in there, it's some Bethel person talking about A. themselves. B. Themselves. C. Themselves. D. a Bethel person talking about someone they know that "needs professional counseling" and "serious help". I don't have an issue with Bethel. I have an issue with the people who work there not actually understanding how they do and don't interact with their customers, or the customers around them. One of the girls was waiting in between her appointments and came over to watch Mckayla blend my balayage, and kept using phrases like, "now why are you doing that, because doesn't that concern you with how it will turn out?".... or, "aren't you concerned thats going to come out a little chunky".... umm. please go away, you are ruining my appointment. Thanks. Anyway. If you go here, please don't see anyone else besides Mckayla. AND BRING HEADPHONES, prepare to be overcharged. After Chloe from Boheme was recommended to me by a friend, I just went with my gut and booked an appointment with her. it felt right. And WOW, thank you Jesus!! Chloe is absolutely AMAZING. As soon as I sat down, her first question was "why are you cutting your hair?" And not in a creepy or rude way, but she wanted to understand my process, to know my hair and to really grasp my vision. I showed her just a few pictures, we vibed FAST, and she did her thang. She was sooo sweet and kind. She even took her time, taught me about good products for my hair and how to even style it properly. She made all my hair dreams come true! Going to her from now on!! My haircut experience at Boheme was not good at all. In fact, it was a bit traumatic. However, I do think that this was likely an isolated event that should not reflect on the business as a whole. As soon as the management was made aware of the situation and my dissatisfaction, I was immediately contacted and my money was refunded for the service. Overall, I did not have relaxing experience that I have had at other Aveda salons or that I had hoped to find at Boheme so I don't plan to return for a second go.
