The Other Side actually connects with a pass through with another store called, the Tucson Thrift Shop. I don't know if they're two separate shops or one big one, but they sold the same type of vintage clothes, costume jewelry, and costumes perfect for any occasion. The staff were friendly, but stayed behind the counter and offered a nice smile and said hello when you entered the store and have a nice day when you left. They certainly dressed as if they shopped at their own store and had enough tie dyed shirts to make any deadhead happy. If you're in town, it's definitely worth a peek inside. I bought a hamburger hat for my burger club and my son would have bought a couple items if his "square" parents weren't there to make him feel "lame.

One half of the building is more costume-y (think Renaissance, Western, princess, etc.) and the other side of the building has the vintage clothing from the 50's to the 80's. I saw a beautiful homemade dress made in the mid-40's that was unfortunately too small for me, however I found an adorable romper from the 80's that I couldn't let go of. There were some options for shoes and jewellery, lots of skirts and shirts. Not everything was necessarily from the era it was said to be, however it was of the style. * LOTS of options for both men and women! Usually thrift/vintage shops are more woman-based, however it almost seemed as if the men had more! * There was a shelf of cute shoes * Tons of cute jewellery coordinated with the eras * Very helpful people, although it was hard to identify who worked there. * The prices ranged vastly depending on what you're getting. It looked like the older something was, the more it cost. Not always the case, though * The costume side of the store looked really fun and I would suggest going for Halloween!

After about 5 minutes a blonde Caucasian student WITH A BLACK BACKPACK asked to try something on, the store associate kindly said yes and showed her to the dressing room. Seconds later my gf asked the same associate who took one look at her, said "yes but you have to leave your backpack here". I witnessed two people who both had backpacks get treated very differently. My girlfriends race was judged by the associate, because she decided right then she wasn't allowed to go into the dressing room with her school back pack, which was right next to the register. The associates demeanor towards us was NOT friendly, as her demeanor to the Caucasian blonde hair college girl was kind and welcoming. There was and is NO DOUBT we were judged due to my gf's skin color. Owner/Manager pull the camera on 2/28/23 at 2:30pm and you will see how we were stopped and the white customers were free to take their bags into the dressing room. I also want to mention the staff had NOOOO idea where to even place the backpack (which had her laptop in it). They were asking each other. As if they don't do this often. If this is store policy you would assume they have a designated area for bags. Not only will be never support this store again, we will let our friends and family know of this horrible treatment. Keep your eye open on how they treat those who look like white college students versus the black or dark skin college students. Sad we have this happening right on the University strip.
