    Boiler Plate Challenge. 6 pounds
    Shawn B.

I took on the "Boiler Plate Challenge." It was a 6 pound platter of BBQ. It consisted of: pulled pork smothered in BBQ sauce, 16 hour brisket, smoked sausage, a full rack of ribs, sliced pickles, French fries, coleslaw, onion rings, and cornbread. The pulled pork was fantastic, the BBQ sauce they used had an awesome flavor. The 16 hour Brisket was so tender it continuously fell off of my fork as I ate it. No knife required there delicious. The smoked sausage was good but it could have had a bit more salty flavor. The full rack of ribs were very good as well. The bones literally slid right out of the meat they were so tender. The best onion rings I have ever had. I am normally not a fan of onion rings but these were small and very crispy. There was not loose onion dangling around, perfectly done. The French fries were ok not spectacular and not terrible, average. I never have coleslaw but that was also decent, it had plenty of sauce but there was not a puddle of it after I finished which was nice. Finally the cornbread was very dry. It tasted ok but I believe I could make better cornbread than that. Oh and I hate pickles in general so enough about those already. Overall a very satisfying meal. This place knows how to do BBQ food right. They have many more options for meat and sides as well as pizza. I would thoroughly recommend this establishment. I wish I could have a better review for Boiler. If I could base this solely on friendliness and the great time we had enjoying our beers and conversation it would be 4 stars. Unfortunately, we did order food and had waited over two hours. They really need to get things figured out in the kitchen. Two hours for just ok brisket is too much.

We went back to give it another shot tonight and I must say there has been some improvement. Here it goes: The Good: As mentioned before, the spicy pickles are amazing! The shrimp toast was also outstanding. Mashed and baked potatoes were very good. Meh: Meatloaf and gravy were well seasoned and it scratched the home cooking itch, but was dry (except for one piece). Steak tips were seasoned simply with salt and pepper but we're overcooked (medium was anywhere from medium well to well). Mac and cheese looked inviting but barely had a hint of cheese. I'd have been very unhappy if I'd have went with the lobster mac and cheese and got that). The Bad/Ugly: The table we were to be seated at had not been wiped down (food, sauce/mystery liquid on table). The waitress removed the "unused" water glasses, sprayed and wiped the table and then RE-USED the glasses on the table. She then said she would leave the glasses in case we wanted water (No way in hell!). This is a re-training/disciplinary issue that needs to be fixed imeadiately. The physical plant is unique for the area, the bar seemed to be busy and people looked happy. I'd love to love this place but I just can't. The rating went from 2 stars to 3 stars because the food is ok and with a little effort could be great!

I really wanted to enjoy a night out at the Boiler Bar & Grille. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing night. Service was quite slow. The room was incredibly cold. When we finally got our food, it tasted like it had been doused in salt. I would not recommend going to the Boiler. The area could really use a great restaurant, unfortunately this is not it.

Pulled pork with fries, malt slaw, sweet hot pickles and a side of mayo. to dip my fries in. Delicious!

Pleasant surprise and excellent, much needed addition to the Athol - Orange area!! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, clean and modern with a touch of the old factory feel. You can tell a lot of love and thought went into the planning and décor. Staff is always friendly and eager to please. The food?...the food is AWESOME!! Yes, the prices are on the moderate end, but, well worth every penny!! We have gone several times since they opened in May and have absolutely no complaints whatsoever! We have brought the kids, 4 of them, a few times and they were welcomed and pleased with their meals as well. Bread served pre-meal with homemade herb butter, is fresh baked and differs each week. I could live on the stuff!! The smoked prime rib, I was skeptical about initially. "Who in their right mind would smoke prime rib!?" Let me tell you, it is the best rib I have ever had! The smoke flavor is subtle and the garlic mashed potatoes as a side with the rib is a must have! Mac & Cheese is to die for, with or without the addition of lobster. Garlic clams...I could drink the juice from! And oh my god!! The baked scallops I had last week...I wanted to lick the dish. SO GOOD!!!! Every single item we have ordered has been delightful. We are food lovers who are sometimes overly critical...take our word for it, it is worth a visit or ten!!

The brisket was my absolute favorite--so tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. When we arrived, the place was full, which honestly had me betting big that the food would live up to the hype--and it absolutely did. Even the other customers were friendly, and the staff was just as welcoming. My fiancé and I shared the two-meat platter, and thank goodness we did--it was more than enough food. We were stuffed and still had leftovers (which I'm very much looking forward to eating again). If we ever pass through this way again, I'll definitely be making him stop here. Can't wait to come back!

Ribs very beefy and excellent. Mac and cheese needed stronger multi cheese blend, maybe a few toasted breadcrumbs on top ? Cucumber salad needed a pinch of sugar to sweeten up the vinegar . Corn bread ok , needs more flavor with real corn mixed in, lose the paper wrappers and bake in pans directly ... or change to a biscuit with honey butter . The owner was working the line first visit and things moving. Second visit : same points mentioned above, but this time smaller quantity of brisket and drier? The ribs smaller and drier ? 2 different food prep guys this time and noticed difference from visit day before? I did try one smoked wing this visit and wing wax excellent smoke tender wing. I think k things improved since the Worcester location closed? It still can be excellent food one time and an average or worse the next visit... inconsistent When the Brisket is on ... it is great stuff When it is off... dry underwhelming... They should make a brisket or burnt end hash as option ... Redbones bbq in Boston used to do a brisket hash that was excellent and unique .

We got the seasoned beef nachos, and 2 platters with ribs, burnt ends, brisket and sides. The nachos were average. They were Good but nothing special. The Mac and cheese was good but we would not recommend the baked beans. The cornbread was also delicious. The service was very slow and we waited quite a long time to order and be served. They have both a BBQ and a Polish specialties section and, unable to decide between the choices, we got both the Polish Dish (a combo for only $10?!) and the more "expensive" of the BBQ combo plates ($13 compared the other $11 and $12 combo options). The Polish Dish has pierogi, kielbasa, sauerkraut, stuffed cabbage and a side of rye bread and sour cream - we got this one with the optional mustard and horseradish. For the BBQ we got brisket (soooo good) and steak tips. The sides were beans and mac and cheese (all small but good) and cornbread. This dish allowed you to pick two sauces, so I did! Somehow we got a bag of chips on top of this - daily special? No idea but will enjoy those when I make up the leftovers in a sandwich. We will 100% be back.

So one of my friends kept going to this restaurant and posted pictures of all the fabulous wings…read more. and on Wednesday they got .50 cent wings!!!! Each Wednesday it seems they have special flavor of Wing as well .. Of course I was naturally drawn to the place with the name Bubs... My white HHR name is Bubs . Bubs the tank. Lol So finally I made the leap of food faith and met up with Tim and another friend Jon as well. It's about 50ish mins from my house and it's Soo worth it .. For 10 dollars I got 15 wings .. but it gets better .. Bubs provides all you can eat (3 plate max) sides buffet. Cold and hot. I lovee the collard greens. Also I tried some pickled veggies and coleslaw. ( Kept it more low carb). Also I normally get sauce on the side and I decided to try the bacon maple sauce. And the special Alfredo sauce as well. Which everything was beyond good. I think this has been the best deal for the amount of food around. I will be returning on Wednesdays and Friday has smoked Prime Rib special as well. The place itself is charming BBQ themed hole in wall. Def loving the vibe.
