    Boiler Plate Challenge. 6 pounds
    Shawn B.

I took on the "Boiler Plate Challenge." It was a 6 pound platter of BBQ. It consisted of: pulled pork smothered in BBQ sauce, 16 hour brisket, smoked sausage, a full rack of ribs, sliced pickles, French fries, coleslaw, onion rings, and cornbread. The pulled pork was fantastic, the BBQ sauce they used had an awesome flavor. The 16 hour Brisket was so tender it continuously fell off of my fork as I ate it. No knife required there delicious. The smoked sausage was good but it could have had a bit more salty flavor. The full rack of ribs were very good as well. The bones literally slid right out of the meat they were so tender. The best onion rings I have ever had. I am normally not a fan of onion rings but these were small and very crispy. There was not loose onion dangling around, perfectly done. The French fries were ok not spectacular and not terrible, average. I never have coleslaw but that was also decent, it had plenty of sauce but there was not a puddle of it after I finished which was nice. Finally the cornbread was very dry. It tasted ok but I believe I could make better cornbread than that. Oh and I hate pickles in general so enough about those already. Overall a very satisfying meal. This place knows how to do BBQ food right. They have many more options for meat and sides as well as pizza. I would thoroughly recommend this establishment. I wish I could have a better review for Boiler. If I could base this solely on friendliness and the great time we had enjoying our beers and conversation it would be 4 stars. Unfortunately, we did order food and had waited over two hours. They really need to get things figured out in the kitchen. Two hours for just ok brisket is too much.

We went back to give it another shot tonight and I must say there has been some improvement. Here it goes: The Good: As mentioned before, the spicy pickles are amazing! The shrimp toast was also outstanding. Mashed and baked potatoes were very good. Meh: Meatloaf and gravy were well seasoned and it scratched the home cooking itch, but was dry (except for one piece). Steak tips were seasoned simply with salt and pepper but we're overcooked (medium was anywhere from medium well to well). Mac and cheese looked inviting but barely had a hint of cheese. I'd have been very unhappy if I'd have went with the lobster mac and cheese and got that). The Bad/Ugly: The table we were to be seated at had not been wiped down (food, sauce/mystery liquid on table). The waitress removed the "unused" water glasses, sprayed and wiped the table and then RE-USED the glasses on the table. She then said she would leave the glasses in case we wanted water (No way in hell!). This is a re-training/disciplinary issue that needs to be fixed imeadiately. The physical plant is unique for the area, the bar seemed to be busy and people looked happy. I'd love to love this place but I just can't. The rating went from 2 stars to 3 stars because the food is ok and with a little effort could be great!

I really wanted to enjoy a night out at the Boiler Bar & Grille. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing night. Service was quite slow. The room was incredibly cold. When we finally got our food, it tasted like it had been doused in salt. I would not recommend going to the Boiler. The area could really use a great restaurant, unfortunately this is not it.

Pulled pork with fries, malt slaw, sweet hot pickles and a side of mayo. to dip my fries in. Delicious!

Pleasant surprise and excellent, much needed addition to the Athol - Orange area!! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, clean and modern with a touch of the old factory feel. You can tell a lot of love and thought went into the planning and décor. Staff is always friendly and eager to please. The food?...the food is AWESOME!! Yes, the prices are on the moderate end, but, well worth every penny!! We have gone several times since they opened in May and have absolutely no complaints whatsoever! We have brought the kids, 4 of them, a few times and they were welcomed and pleased with their meals as well. Bread served pre-meal with homemade herb butter, is fresh baked and differs each week. I could live on the stuff!! The smoked prime rib, I was skeptical about initially. "Who in their right mind would smoke prime rib!?" Let me tell you, it is the best rib I have ever had! The smoke flavor is subtle and the garlic mashed potatoes as a side with the rib is a must have! Mac & Cheese is to die for, with or without the addition of lobster. Garlic clams...I could drink the juice from! And oh my god!! The baked scallops I had last week...I wanted to lick the dish. SO GOOD!!!! Every single item we have ordered has been delightful. We are food lovers who are sometimes overly critical...take our word for it, it is worth a visit or ten!!

The brisket was my absolute favorite--so tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. When we arrived, the place was full, which honestly had me betting big that the food would live up to the hype--and it absolutely did. Even the other customers were friendly, and the staff was just as welcoming. My fiancé and I shared the two-meat platter, and thank goodness we did--it was more than enough food. We were stuffed and still had leftovers (which I'm very much looking forward to eating again). If we ever pass through this way again, I'll definitely be making him stop here. Corn bread ok , needs more flavor with real corn mixed in, lose the paper wrappers and bake in pans directly ... or change to a biscuit with honey butter . Randomly found this food truck parked in another lot during the off season. Seems like the only…read moresource of information on this place is directly on their website that gets updated maybe twice a year. Haven't found a facebook page or anything else. Waited and kept checking to see when they would open and finally they did in June. Showed up and they only take cash, no meat combo meals, had to be a half rack of ribs, and menu was almost exclusively burgers and fries. So I gave my hopes up and figured this place must not be worth it. Happened to be driving by one day and happened to have cash on me. Figured I'd check it out just to know for certain what I was missing. Just so happened that a meat combo was the "Special" of the day. 1/4 rack and pulled pork which was pretty much all they had for actual "BBQ" stuff. I don't consider burgers part of BBQ. And now I'm looking at their menu online which has been updated and they now serve Brisket on Friday and Saturday nights. And they change up their sides every week. Happened to catch them with Baked Beans and Pasta Salad that day. Ribs were 3 bones for a 1/4 rack. Slathered and char grilled quite a bit, which are 2 things I don't want on ribs. But damn it was good for a charred rib. Meat was as tough as you expect it to be for a rib all charred up but the sauce had a sweet fun heat kick to it. The kind of heat that doesn't burn at all but it feels like it might. Fruity sensation to it too. Other parts were a bit more tender and I think the original pork flavor gets a little lost in these ribs. With the char and the sauce it was hard to find a real good pork flavor but it was still very good. Pulled Pork was exactly how it was supposed to be, not completely torn apart, still big chunks that are soft and easy. Seasoned well, very moist, great pork flavor and seasoning flavor. Exactly the kind of pulled pork I want. Side of sauce wasn't completely necessary but I tried it on the pork. Thick style, I don't think it was the same stuff as on the ribs. But it was sweet and slow and did it's job. Pasta Salad was excellent. This was legit homemade Italian grandma olive oil style. Cut up peppers, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, Fussilie pasta. Flavor and texture made the stuff so easy to eat I could have just face planted myself into it. Beans looked amazing. Obviously some pulled or shredded meat, I want to say brisket. Maple and Brown Sugar flavors hit the tongue instantly, It was crazy. Tiny hint of smokey flavor from the brisket. Pinto beans could have used a tad bit longer in the pot but it wasn't a deal at all, just a preference. Slaw had a great sweet vinegar taste like any good slaw would. Pretty much only cabbage shreds but honestly who can tell the taste between carrots and radish when they've been pickling in the same juice. Slaw was gone before I could even think about it anymore ... so that should tell you something. Surprisingly good food truck. I just hate that it's cash only, I completely understand why, and that the sides change every week and it's not updated anywhere. But I will have to go back and try their burgers and fries and brisket and hotdogs soon.

Friendly service and decent food with a handful of Food Truck specialty menu items of BBQ ribs,…read morepulled pork, hot dogs, hamburgers, and a few sides. Sides on our visit included cole slaw, fries, cucumber salad, and baked beans. The half-rack of 8 ribs was generous, meaty, smoky, with a very nice, sweet, southern-style sauce brushed-on and also provided as a bonus dip. While the *flavors* were lovely in the slaw, beans, and BBQ sauce, the cuke salad had very little if any dressing, the beans seemed undercooked, and the ribs were overcooked. Ribs should be fall-off-the-bone tender, and we had to tear at every bone. Mind you, we picked them clean because, again, the flavor was good. But definitely overly dry, indicating a too-hot, too-fast cooking this time out. Easy-to-miss this BBQ trailer tucked into the far leafy corner of White's Sugar House & Farm Stand parking lot just before Route 202 if you're going east on Route 119. There aren't always practical street addresses in this mostly rural area, and the old farm sign is all but buried by the surrounding tree growth in summer. Slow up as you approach the lighted intersection, and keep your eyes peeled for the Old Fitzwilliam Rd street sign, even though it's just the driveway. Despite the dry ribs, we prefer indie places to chains, so we are still glad to have tried it. Southern sauce this good is harder to come by up north.

The food is "good enough" for me to give it another shot, so I'll update this review next time I…read moreeat there. There's room for improvement. 1. Mac n Cheese: B+. Pretty decent, good flavor. I only know this because I tried my friend's. I ordered some, but I got mac salad in my order. I think the mac n cheese would do a little better with a creamier cheese sauce. Good chefs hate it, but the fact is that Velveeta makes a creamy basic sauce that can be doctored without limits to greatness for the application. 2. Mac salad: B+. It's pretty basic mac salad, no surprises. The pasta was a little al dente, though. I suspect that the dressing was perfect when they made it, but over a few hours the al dente noodles soaked up whatever moisture they could, leaving a dried out dressing. The remedy for this is to re-mix the batch with a little water, or buttermilk for extra points. 3. Potato salad: B+. This is a good, basic potato salad. No surprises. 4. Creamy slaw: A+. GREAT! SLAW! This is almost like my slaw, and I'm picky about my slaw. 5. Regular slaw: A. Bright and fresh flavored slaw. This slaw screams "put me on a killer California Reuben!". 6. BBQ beans: D. Insanely good sauce. Beans heavily undercooked. Insanely good sauce. Fix these, and I will eat them by the half-gallon. 7. Brisket: A. Solid brisket, great smoke, perfect cook. 8. Spare ribs: A. Good and smokey, falling off the bone (but the cartilage hangs on, which makes them perfect in my book). 9. Pork roast: A. I'm not sure what cut was used here, but it's a great cut for this purpose. Moist and flavorful and very smokey. 10. Pulled chicken: A++. Next to what the beans *could be* and what the creamy slaw is, this chicken is an absolute all-star. Whew! Wicked smokey, super moist, pure heaven. I could eat piles of this chicken! 11. "Kicker" sauce: sweet and delicious BBQ sauce. I have a feeling, after the beans and this sauce, that sauces are this place's strong suit. Truly great stuff. Summary: this place has some easily fixable problems. Easily fixable. Mere adjustments, and I can't wait to try them out again and bump this up to 5 stars.

Really want to give this more like a 3.7 but it's hard to give a real honest review on food trucks…read more Looking at the few other pictures posted here I can tell that some days are a little better than others, probably not by too much but still. Seems like these guys are usually parked in the parking lot of Froggs Brewery in Marlborough NH. Frogg's has a few snack food items themselves but these guys are there on weekends, or at least most weeks at the moment. Check their facebook page for updates. It was nice to chill at Froggs too while we ate, grabbed a watermelon beer to wash it all down, pretty darn good. Their regular and spicy BBQ sauces were very good to taste. Obviously some minced garlic and some chili flakes for seasoning in each of them. More thick than I like though, probably typical sauce texture almost anyone would expect but I've come to appreciate the more runny vinegar authentic style sauces. Sweet Maple BBQ Sauce was excellent! Not as much minced stuff in it as the others and I don't know if I'd guess it was Maple flavored if I didn't know. More of like a pineapple sweetness to it, but it's actually really good. Pulled pork was almost perfect! Definitely cooked in a sauce at least for a little while but it was still distinctly the great natural taste of pork. Wasn't till I got to the bottom and tasted a giant slab of fat disguised as regular pulled pork (hate it when that happens) but the rest of it was some of the best pulled pork I've ever had. Ribs are smoked like crazy, almost all the meat was red and delicious. Meat doesn't fall off all over the place, texture was pretty good if anything it was a tiny bit on the tougher side but still easy enough to chew. I could taste the seasoning rub on it well enough but it still wasn't that powerful. Sausage was good, definitely the type that fits better as a sausage and peppers and onions sandwich. Lot of that smokey redness to it, very enjoyable. Brisket looked drier than it actually was but still not as juicy as I particularly like them to be. Tougher cut of Brisket, not as flavorful as I'd hoped, the fatty part had a little bit of seasoning flavor to but not much. Brisket was still okay, too many different types of Brisket out there to judge accurately. Chicken was smoked very well and tasted great too, especially with some of that Maple sauce! Hate to say it was a teeny bit on the dry side though but still very yummy. Can't say much about the seasoning on the skin though, not much flavor their at all. I appreciate that the Cole slaw is vinegar based. I prefer that over the mayo based stuff (unless it's super tasty). Didn't pack a ton of flavor though, but it got the job done. Beans were Black beans and Kidney beans in a sorta sweet and savory type of sauce. I really liked the flavor and the beans were cooked well enough but the sauce was very drippy. Not that that's a terrible thing but I'm just use to baked beans that hold onto a lot of that gravy. The beans I had here just kinda felt like they were 2 beans boiled down with some mildly sweet brown sugar juice. But as I said, flavor alone the beans were actually very tasty. Mac and Cheese is Ziti pasta with a blend of cheeses that haven't had the right amount of time to become gooey yet. Ziti really could have been boiled for about 5 minutes longer because it was still tough. Cheese din't have much taste to it and it felt more like a gritty cheesy paste wrapped around the pasta. Not sure what the deal is with this Ziti substitute, this is like the eight place I've been to that does it and it's really getting old but if you have a good cheese recipe then I guess it don't matter what the pasta is, but for some reason none of these ziti places have had it that good. Cornbread is a small cube of yellow cake. Wasn't cornbread at all. Not complaining about the yellow cake, it's yummy enough, but it A'int no damn corn bread.
