Came here for our anniversary and just wanted a nice quick dinner. Do not recommend. Owner stands around doing nothing but staring at waitstaff while they run around trying to accommodate tables who have been waiting over an hour for food. Brown hair lady behind the bar is on her phone while waitstaff stands around waiting for drinks for tables. Had to wait 25 minutes for our drinks and ended up just leaving. If a place is open for 50 years you would think they would be efficient and organized, but Wolfies is clearly not. Food and service were wonderful. Arrived at a busy dinner time on a Saturday early evening 6pm with no tables available so we decided to eat at the bar. Although the bar is small, seating about 10 people it was a great experience for all of us. Matt the bartender was one of kindest and most patient attentive bartender we have ever met. The food was delicious. All of us who sat and the bar were strangers but left as friends. We made a date to meet up again at the bar for dinner in exactly one year. How fun! We were back in the area for our yearly visit and remembered we enjoyed our last meal and decided to come again. We were not disappointed at all. The two women tending to the busy tables were like a pro tag team in helping each other to seat the tables , placemats etc... a well oiled team they were indeed. The chalkboard with the dessert specials they were promptly checking off what was selling out, I really like that because you right away what's available or isn't. I chose the nachos for my meal, I'm sorta a nacho snob but was craving them. I wasn't disappointed. Perfectly topped and cooked with some crispy cheesy chips which I like. If I could give negative stars I would, not for the food, it was average, not terrible but not great. The negative review would be for the extremely poor service and complete lack of respect for the restaurants patrons. Stopped in with another adult and 3 children. Waited at the door to be acknowledged, finally someone saw us but did not show us to a table, rather they pointed to one and said "sit there". It wasn't even set up for service. The waitress arrived with placemats and crayons for the kids, then came the menus. I was at first impressed with her ability to take all our orders without writing them down, until I received the wrong side with my meal. A meal which by the way took an hour to arrive. At 30 minutes we began to wonder, especially when another customer loudly yelled at a man, whom I thought was a bus boy but later found out was the owner, that she would never be back again. Didn't know what the problem was but felt a public screaming fit was not called for. At the 40 minute mark I found our waitress and asked that she check on our order, she later flew by the table and tossed out that it was coming. At the 50 minute mark I asked her to check with the owner on our order. She said he said it would be out in 4 minutes. It didn't. At one point she brought out 1 kids meal and suggested that 2 of the 3 children share it until the rest of the food arrive. Unbelievable. I even had to track her down for silverware, none of us had received any at this point. Eventually the other kids meals came out, followed a few minutes later by one of the adult meals and a few minutes after that by the final adult meal. I leave a negative review for this very reason, not once during our visit did anyone come to our table and explain the delay, apologize or thank us for our patience. They say that qualities of a leader flows down, this was demonstrated when at the end, after I had paid the $80.00 tab and approached the owner. As I said earlier, I thought he was a bus boy since the entire time we were there he was present and visible but doing absolutely nothing. I said to him that it was obvious there was some kind of problem today, his response? "We had 20 to go orders" When I suggested that someone could have approached us (meaning him as the owner) his response? "I was busy doing other things" So because of his complete apathetic demeanor we will never be back, it is my hope that he finds something to bring joy to his life because it was glaringly obvious that feeding and servicing his customers is not it. read more

Ok no problem I told the lady we can wait in our car outside because there is no seating area. Everything good so far. About 40 minutes later we got called, sat down and order drinks, we are already tight with time since we have other places to be so we. decided not to order appetizers so we could be done faster. All the sudden we overheard a conversation with the manager and new customers that the kitchen was running behind and food has a delay of about 40 minutes. What??? We waited already 40, sat down for 10 and had to wait ANOTHER 40+ minutes for our food? The waitress was friendly and told us the kitchen has 1 person in the hospital and one called out. Drove 1hr and 43 minutes for Whole Belly Clams, not that I had to go that far, but it's what I do. Due to the price they have to pay, the clams are not available. Also out of lasagna. The place smelled like I was going to have some good seafood. My waitress suggested the Seafood Casserole. I asked if the crab in it was real, she came back with a no! So that was out for me. I wound up getting a ribeye which was great. Onion soup was excellent as I like low salt taste. A side of coleslaw was good, I like a sweet one. Now the Boston Cream Pie, for an out of house pie, she was good! 2 Octoberfest brews, 6 bucks a pint!!! Good price. Rachel was fantastic, if you like sarcasm, she can do that for you, if you want professional, that can also be had. I went with sarcasm! She made great recs bc it was our first time. She told me to order the blackened haddock sandwich and she was spot on when she said it would melt in my mouth. Really good food I had the Wolfie Burger. The food is priced good with my burger only being $13.95. My whole table loved their food and the vibe of the whole place was amazing. Stopped here after a visit to a fair at the Historic Deerfield site and to the Yankee Candle flagship store. If you're looking for informal blue plate special and pub-style food this is your place. The ambiance in the front is like a New England country-style diner with its booths and gingham window curtains, while the room we ate in had a pub-type feel, which was fitting since the bar wasn't too far away in the back. I ordered the turkey Reuben with a cup of tomato cheddar soup. The "cup" of soup was more like a half cup used to serve slaw on the side. I looked down at it and was like, really? I chose this instead of fries? But the soup was good (I wish I had been served more of it), and the turkey Reuben was good (and served on really thick, Texas Toast-style marble rye bread). Even if my sandwich hadn't been good, I would have devoured it because we literally waited an hour for our meals to be served. My companion ordered the Little Red Reuben and enjoyed it, but also did not enjoy the wait. I realize this place was packed (we found the one remaining space in the parking lot), but the service was incredibly slow. Friendly, but slow. I guess it's the local hot spot. We waited 1 hour and 30 minutes for our food to arrive from the time we ordered. When trying to order, we discovered that they ran out of a lot of items. In fact, after we already waited for an hour, the waitress informed me one of the sides I ordered was no longer available. We sat with empty beverage glasses. I felt bad for the waitress, but there was no checking in or apology. One member of our party ordered a pork chop which was cold and tough as leather when it finally arrived at our table. I personally only had a few bites of my entree and I was offered a box to take it home but the waitress showed no concern that after waiting 1.5 hours to eat, my dinner was virtually untouched. Every table in the dining area had the same miserable experience. We never saw a manager. I am guessing the kitchen got buried, the wait staff gave up, and management hid. When's the last time you ran into someone that was 106 years old? When's the last time you sat in a restaurant booth to have lunch next to a 106 year old that was doing the same? And when's the last time you saw a 106-year old finish her lunch and order a slice of pie? We witnessed all of those amazing sites yesterday at Wolfie's Restaurant. Now even if we had not experienced any of those wonders, our lunch at Wolfie's would still have been a five star experience. They've been around for over 40 years and have become a beloved institution up in this neck of the woods. We were struck by three of their massive strengths - the incredible customer service, the quality of their food, and their low pricing. We took a booth in the front dining room (there's also a back dining room with a full bar) and met our fabulous server Angela. She was an absolute delight, warm, pleasant, funny, and welcoming.  Seriously, she treated us like we had been college friends. Wolfie's has a pretty big menu divided into appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, grinders, dinner entrees, specials and desserts. It will remind you of a New Jersey diner without the attitude. I started off with a cup of the Seafood Chowder ($3.75) that was excellent on so many levels. First of all -it was served blazing hot -no lukewarm tepid soup comes out of that kitchen. It was loaded with fish and potato chunks and surimi ribbons. It was very good. We both ordered a BLT ($5.95) and split an order of fries. The sandwiches were amazing -so much bacon, fresh lettuce and tomato, perfectly  toasted rye bread and pickle slices. The fries were great too -hot and fresh and a pretty good sized portion. Now just like our 106-year old neighbor, we went for a slice of pie to go and share. We landed on Boston Creme ($5.25) which was a huge slice of creamy decadence, easily split-able for the two of us. So there ya go, for 25 buckaroos we had a terrific lunch with dessert in one of the sweetest places we've seen in a long while. Our lunch left us totally satisfied as far as service, value, hospitality and every other characteristic on your checklist. Wolfie's is a must any time you are up this way. read more

I worked for Wolfie's for close to 2 years. I can truly say I enjoyed working there. I recently took a job that was literally half the distance to my house or I'd still be there. I knew it was going to be a good place to work when Kristine, the awesome manager took the time to talk with me and get to know me a little but during the interview. Kristine gave me a shot when a lot of other companies wouldn't. Kristine is one of the most non-racist, non prejudiced people I knew. She bases her decision on availability and experience (or willing to learn). She works real hard, does things the right way, is thoughtful and truly cares about her employees. The owner Bill is a great guy too! Loved talking to him, he's really smart. Learned a lot from him. And that guy can fix anything! Any time we had some equipment stop working, Bill either fixed it himself or got it fixed quick. The kitchen is always staffed with people who really cared about what they were doing. They put out good quality food that's delicious and were always nice to the servers and front of the house staff. Gonna miss talking sports with them! I worked with some great people in the front of the house too. Angela, TJ, Matt and Sam to name a few. They're people who truly care about the customers and their co workers. There's a reason why Wolfie's had been in business since 1976. It's a great place to eat, and it's a great place to work! read more

I stopped in on a very busy Saturday afternoon as a single diner and sat at the small bar in the back. It's obvious this is truly a neighborhood place with lots of regulars who know the waitstaff. Actually a nice but hectic vibe. The waitress at the bar juggled food orders ,drink orders, and the cash register, along with running in to get the food for, the kitchen. She never stopped. Yes, I waited longer than I would have liked to be able to order, get my food, and eventually pay the bill, but considering how busy she was, and given the circumstances, service was excellent I got the taco burger medium rare and fries. Simple, except it usually doesn't matter how you actually order your burger in places like this. They usually all come out medium to medium well. Not here. While not quite medium rare, it was darned close, and the burger had a nice smokey taste to it. Fries were standard frozen fried, but they were crisp and not greasy. They make their own cream pies, and they had 5 or 6 varieties. I got the banana cream. It was pretty good, but not a star, but as it was made in house, I wanted to try it. Very basic throwback local tavern type food, and based on what I got, they do a good job of it. I'll be more likely to stop in again for lunch when I'm in the area than before I tried it. read more

Went to this place and lets start with the Fish & Chips, The fish had a goid taste, but it was slimy inside, coleslaw was nasty, fries were ok. My husband order Clam Strips, fries were ok, coleslaw was nasty, the strips tasted like oil, and so soft that you pick one up and it would break in your hands. $14 for a Tito's and cranberry, but my husband order a Lobg Island Ice tea was $11? Both were sooo weak, they must of put less than 1 shot. 90% juice. Appetizer, Mozzarella tasted like it was in the same oil chicken waa fried, and the cheese would break in pieces in your mouth yukk The waitress didn't even bother to ask why my husband left the whole plate, with a few fries missing, but still charged for the whole plate! I ate just the fish and a few fries. We still gave her 20% for tip. But they will never get another penny from us.They didn't even care that we practically left them with a table full of food. Pie. The coconut cream pie is unbelievably scrumptious. They offer a long list of flavors, so your whole party should leave room for dessert. I sat in the bar, ordered a burger, and was very happy with my medium burger. Nice pickles, fresh lettuce, good bun, flavorful meat. The fries were fries. When you're at a place with gritty roadhouse vibes and a really long menu, a wise person chooses the items they're likely to make fresh and be good at. This looked like -- and is -- the kind of place that would do a solid dive-bar burger. Call it 4 stars for the burger but about 7 stars for the pie. Service was fine -- I wanted a burger, a drink, and pie dropped in front of me in a reasonable time frame, and that's what I got. I've had fancier places do worse. We came to Wolfie's for lunch a week ago (on a Wednesday) after our jaunt to Yankee Candle and after reading the promising reviews on here. Frankly, I was a bit disappointed. We walked in and said 2 and a high chair. We were directed towards our table and the waitress seating us almost made it feel like we would have to go and get the high chair ourselves, but maybe it was my look that eventually she figured out that she should bring one over to us. My husband ordered the steak and cheese grinder that he really loved because there was an actual steak on there. He started with the French onion soup and said it was really good as well. I had asked our waitress for the macaroni and cheese and to sub out the side salad for a cup of the seafood chowder. My husband's soup is brought and we knew we should have asked about mine because our waitress (who could have been friendlier in general) did totally forget it and brought it out 2 minutes before my entree came out. The chowder was pretty good, kind of disappointed to see bright red imitation crab in it though. The macaroni and cheese (which I was pumped for after being on a 2.5 week diet) was just ok. Not super flavorful and not really hot. As in the cheese was cold when mixed with the warm pasta kind of feeling. Our son loved his applesauce, grilled cheese and apple juice. Having seen pictures of the salads on here from other patrons, maybe I should have gone that route with my ordering. read more

After being placed on hold for 15 minutes, I proceeded to hang up the phone and send my daughter to order and pick up the food herself as she arrived home she found that they forgot our desserts I mean yes she could've checked the bag prior to leaving the restaurant but in good faith, we thought they would have gotten everything correct. Onto my ground around dinner the onion rings were well overcooked. The ground round was well undercooked even though asked for well done, but I still 8 it anyway. We had gotten a blackened salmon sandwich, which was very tasty although the bread or bun was significantly soggy, which made that part unpleasant to eat. If you ever waited in a line at Barnes and Noble at Christmas then come to Wolfies. I have never seen so many people line up for this level of crap. My Rachel which was highly recommended from a person with an obvious case of agusia, was dry and tasteless. The fries were of the standard frozen garbage. My Wife's burger was a definite improvement. The service could be measured on a calendar , perhaps the Mayan verity. The chocolate pie was ok nothing to brag about and my Wife's Boston cream pie was a forced ok. The coffee was good. To quote a very famous person never have I seen so many stand in line for so little. If you have a penchant for standing in line please proceed to the place where Ronald eats. Loud. Could only hear one of my tablemates out of four, and the waitress had trouble hearing our order. The waitress forgot my partner's water three times. The fried pickles were barely breaded and WAY oversalted, like there was salt in the breading on top of the salt in the pickles. At 45 minutes after ordering, our waitress went to ask how long the wait would be, then avoided our table. In the room we were in, one table out of nine was served food and everyone else was asking where their food was. At an hour and 15 minutes after ordering, the decision was made to leave without receiving our food. The waitress then said the kitchen had just put our steaks on and they would be right out. At an hour and a half, the decision was made to actually leave, and the waitress tried to guilt us by telling us the steaks would be coming out of her wages. This is not legal, and shame on Wolfie's if they do this bs. However, I had gone outside and overheard our waitress speaking to who I assume was the head chef about our party in a very rude manner. The head chef said if we leave we leave, never said a thing about it coming out of her wages. The head chef saw me watching when he went back to his cigarette break and quickly chucked his butt to head back inside to make several table's worth of food. I don't know how the food was. Our waitress also mentioned that she hadn't gotten a meal break, so I do hope she got to eat my mac and cheese or something. read more
