Manufacturers purposely name beds with the exact same specifications (other than maybe the decorative fabricused on the outside) different for each retailers. Meaning you can't go to Macy's, or JC Penny's or Sleepy's or any other bed shop with one specific make/model and compare the prices in each store. None of them will have it!! It sucks, and should be outlawed. That said, I can't tell you "what a great deal I got" compared to the other mattress stores I went to! What I can tell you is this: "To be forewarned is to be forearmed". Be ready, willing and able to negotiate the price of everything! That includes the base price of the mattress, the box spring, delivery, removal of your old bed, and any mattress cover or pillows you may be talked into. A word on mattress covers... Regardless of the term (# of years) of your warranty, if you get any stains on it, the warranty is void!!! So get a mattress cover that will prevent the mattress from being stained. Sleepy's will try to sell you their "Dri-tec" mattress cover. At about $140 retail, depending on the size of the mattress, it's pretty pricey compared to what you can buy at a store like Bed, Bath & Beyond. If you buy their "Dri-tec" cover, Dri-tec will "supposedly" pay for a new mattress, if needed, even if it stains through. So take that for what it's worth. Now... a word on pillows: They want you to buy their special "the way you sleep" (or somethig like that) pillow. You buy the pillow for the way you sleep (whether you sleep on your back, front or side). Do yourself a favor... Don't waste your money!!!!!!! I'm a big guy. 6'-2", 300lbs with wide shoulders. I sleep on my side. So I bought the "Side Sleeper" version. Now any chiropractor will tell you, a man my size, who sleeps on hs side, needs a pillow which doesn't allow the head to drop too low before it is supported by the pillow. The neck/back need to "remain in alignment", as it were. This pillow was so high that my head was being pushed up thereby straining my neck. I lasted 30 minutes then grabbed my old pillow out of the closet. The killer? I took the pillow out of the original wrapping... can't return it. There's almost $80 bucks down the drain! Lesson learned: if you want to "try" it at home, don't take it out of the wrapper. This way if you don't like it, you can return it. But make sure you cover the plastic wrapping so you don't suffocate will ya?!! But I found a way to salvage some of my money. I opened a seam, took out about 20% of the poly fill, and sewed it shut. Feels great! Not bad, eh? All in all, they delivered when promised, and I would recommend them. ...just be prepared to negotiate.

Even the delivery men went above and beyond the scope of their job to make me happy. They were very respectful of my place and had a clean, professional and kind manner. A very New York City experience…read more Having previously purchased a mattress online and having to return it because I hated it, I didn't want to go through that experience again. I stopped by a few mattress shops in the city, but they were very small and many just carried the major online brands that were non-traditional mattresses (memory foam, no coils). A google search brought me to Craig's: a lot of glowing Yelp reviews, Google reviews, and a New Yorker article describing this "speakeasy" mattress shop. Given that Craig's is located right by my office, I made an appointment online. As others have mentioned, be prepared that Craig's is located on the second floor of an office building and that your appointment will be 1:1. Craig will ask you what kind of mattress you like, cut a piece of cloth for you, and place it on various mattresses as you try them. You never feel rushed or pressured. He IS chatty, so be prepared for that too. I tried many mattresses and ultimately found a mattress that I liked and placed an order (the first one that he showed me!). Fast forward to the day before delivery. I had told Craig I was moving in the morning and would need the mattress to come after noon, but when I got my delivery window it was the first one in the morning. He called the delivery company and they wanted to schedule it for the evening, but he correctly pointed out that because I was in a doorman building they might not let the delivery people up in the evening. He gave me two options: he would go meet them at my building in the morning and let them in OR he would come in the evening and help bring it up to my apartment if they wouldn't let the delivery people up. What? This is a crazy level of service. He also must have spent an hour on the phone between talking to me and the delivery company trying to figure this all out. It turned out my building was able to let them in without Craig being present, but his wilingness to go so far and beyond will not be forgotten by me!

He answered all of our questions honestly and educated us on the different types of mattresses and frames. We also visited another Mattress Firm Store. None of the prices or customer service came close to that of Hany at Middletown.
