Great Portuguese cafe at the corner of Dufferin and Queen, with a wide variety of savoury and sweet items, and a good coffee menu. They have quite a cosy sit down space up stairs (no accessibility there as far as I could see) and they bring food to the table; which was a nice touch. Went there around lunch time, and I had skipped breakfast, so I had two savoury croissant sandwiches (egg and chorizo, and a smoked salmon) and a chorizo and cheese muffin; with a latte. The sandwiches were toasted, and tasted fresh with good combination of ingredients. The smoked salmon would have been nicer without toasting IMO, but I wasn't asked either. The muffin was sweeter than I expected, but was a fresh take - would have it again.

One of the best Portuguese tarts in DT TO imho. One of my go to fave cafes when I am ever in the area. Bom Dia cold latte was so refreshing and quenched my thirst on this hot summer day - not overly sweet even with the condensed milk. Their service is too good - I wanted to bring my own tray upstairs to the sitting area and I I advertantly got an employee in trouble by the boss! They really want you to just come and relax... Obrigada to the sweet Bom Dia staff. See you again soon!

It's a Portuguese bakery that seems to specialize in cupcakes. Sorry no photo but the glass case was mostly full of cupcakes of various types. Cupcakes are not my thing but pastry is so I was happy to find this sitting behind the counter as I almost got a donut instead filled with pastry cream. They do have lots of bagged cookies as well. The upstairs is a spacious area to sit and drink and eat. They bring your drinks to you and I liked this part a lot. Service was ok. People were nice enough and there is a bathroom in the basement. Overall if you're in the area and need a place to sit and do work (I saw a few with their laptops) it's a good place to go

Bom Día is the cutest little cafe tucked in the corner of a busy intersection. A true little relaxing piece of Europe , you're greeted with the most friendliest staff who are more than willing to help you choose from their absolutely MASSIVE range on display. Whilst the cupcakes and tarts looked delicious, the thing that called out to me was their Passion fruit Nata. A spin on the original Portuguese Nata, it was packed with a tart passion fruit flavour and creamy custard type jelly which made it not too sweet, and an amazing mouthful. I ordered a flat white as well - despite it being more of a cappuccino than a flat white, it was delish and served in the cutest mugs. They have seating upstairs, and it shouts out a true Portuguese OBRIGADO, with the welcoming seating and cosy decor. Absolutely loved this place, and need to come back to try all the other desserts on display!

My wife and I went to Bom Dia Cafe on 04 June 2023. The interior of the cafe was nice and cozy, with the bottom floor used to place your order and the second floor full of seating arrangements. I ended up getting an Iced Coffee for myself and my wife got the flat white. We also got one of the Passion Fruit Tarts to share. The Coffee was very nice, and from what my wife told me, so was the flat white. The Passion Fruit Tart, in my opinion, was the highlight. You could taste that it was fresh and full of flavour. It was sweet, but not overpowering. One negative I had about this cafe is that there was no prices anywhere. We were a little shocked when our 3 item order came out to over $16. Given the price, I don't think I'll be returning.

A wonderful selection of sweet and savory food items, including (of course) Portuguese specialties. The Pavlova is to die for. The staff is friendly and welcoming. It's a pleasure to visit. The seating up stairs gives you a nice option to escape the street, yet remain in the ambiance of the place. Good for breakfast, lunxh, or a snack. The coffees are well done too.

It's become a favourite local business of mine and their Pastéis de Nata are so delicious. The pastry is flakey and the custard is so creamy, plus their espresso drinks are also excellent. Service is consistently good, and prices are reasonable despite them not always being listed. There's a space upstairs to sit, but this seems to mainly be a takeout spot.

Super cute pastry shop located in the Liberty Village area, has tons of Portuguese pastries and lots of drink options! Ample seating area including upstairs as well.

Been lured into this store finally with all the orders I've been placing through Ubereats. Decided to finally look up the storefront and was curious to make my journey here. Staff is just as sweet as their cupcakes are. Been mainly ordering their cupcakes and sandwiches and decided to play it safe when I went in. Went with salted caramel red velvet and strawberry cheesecake cupcake along with a fried chicken cutlet sandwich. Cupcakes are flavourful and good ratio of icing to cake. Sandwich was meaty and toasted well.

This bakery is open at 7AM and is on the 24 hr 501 streetcar/bus line along Lakeshore / Queen St. Great for a gal like me who never wakes up early enough to make breakfast! Anyways, the 501 bus from the West End (where I live) stops right in from of Bom Dia which is located at Queen/Dufferin so it's a no brainer that I can get yummy food before my next transfer streetcar arrives. My first trip I purchased a Chicken Filet which was freshly made with tender lightly battered chicken , lettuce, tomatoes on a Portuguese bun. Also, purchased 3 shrimp rissois which was very creamy but lacked shrimp. Prices for the rissois was high so I won't purchase this again but I loved the cod pieces. 2nd trip today I purchased 2 and they were piping hot at 8:40AM! Delicious! Almost Keto! I purchased a couple of plum muffins from the day old bin. Need something sweet with my morning coffee later at work. Sorry food was eaten too quickly to make it to pictures. Hours, location and food are pretty awesome for my work commute that I've decide to take the long 501 streetcar route over my usually Go Train station construction chaos.

What a transformation this place has had..I remember coming here when it was plentea. I ordered a ridiculous amount of items. I must say even after transporting all of them home. I was pleasantly surprised. If you are like me, seen their posts on Instagram and were dying to go....well, I finally had my chance and I made the most of it. Everything I tried was delicious which is rare to say at any spot but I can say definitely the stand out was the Portuguese tart, pastel de nata. Flaky and flavourful. I tried one of each of their savoury offerings that had chicken, beef, fish, and cheese in the center. My favourite was the beef with the fish following quickly behind The torta mista a simple and inexpensive sandwich to go. I enjoyed it but I would probably want it a bit toaster for me. I'll request the next time. Also had their pudim flan and rice pudding. Also recommend. Anyhoo, Definitely a signature flavour was the pastel de Nata. One of those must try Portuguese pastries. Madeline's to die for. Yum. Want that again Happy to support this little place. It's a great addition to the area. Nothing like it. Personally, best cafe in the area.

Prettiest cafe in the Liberty village area. They have a seating area at the top and a washroom in the basement. The place is open until late evening so you don't have to worry about those early bakery/cafe closures. The food: soooo many pastries to choose from! And every single one of them looked stunning! The place where you order is right but i don't think they can accommodate any other way. They have been very creative with their interior.

This bakery is located in such a great area and is so easy to get to. I've herd such great things about it so I had to try it for myself and I'm so happy I did! It was busy when we walked in but the staff were so quick and efficient they took our order in no time. Everyone working was super friendly and make sure we were taken care of. The pastry display was insane so many delicious things to chose from. We ordered 2 lattes which were amazing, madeline cookies, natas and one of tiramisu cups. We also ordered savoury stuff like the shrimp and beef patties. We took everytbing to a party later that day and was completely devoured. Will definitely be back here and highly recommend it!

There were four of us and ordered the sangria to share between three of us which was a lot but refreshing. Apps were Lucas Freitas (fried calamari) and Chourico a Bombeiro (flaming sausage). Both were delicious. I forgot to mention the bread and Piri Piri Sauce which came in the form of a large bottle. These were complimentary and it's nice to see a restaurant continue this tradition. There used to be a very crusty artisan bread that was served but over the years that has disappeared and it's a white bread now. Three of us had chicken/chicken breast and one had veal. Even the small portion was very generous. The salad was underwhelming but a pretty presentation. The server got a couple of orders wrong and seemed very distracted. The piece de resistance was the "Portuguese Tarts" which made a wonderful finale to a good Al fresco dining experience.

The potatoes were bland, as if they were boiled rather than roasted. Or perhaps this was just a lazy attempt at slapping an order together because it was via Uber Eats? As always, their peri peri sauce is among the best in the city and saved the meal. Either way, lots of better options in the city these days.

Return visits while in Toronto (2 of 3)…read more I came back to Perla and its appeal, at least to me, is very much still there. You are greeted upon walking in to this family run Portuguese restaurant. This time, I tried a bitoque, a steak with an egg on top. It would be on the list of 10 typical entrees you'd find in a Portuguese restaurant. It was preceded by a salad, for which I selected the Caesar salad option. I followed it up with a dessert which was a goblet with a frothy type of gelatin, pudding, or mousse. The flavor was either passion fruit or guava. I forgot what it was immediately upon leaving because I devoured it so quickly! The frothiness made it lighter, such that it wouldn't weigh you down. By now, you should be able to tell this was a very good meal. A few things round out the experience. The bread was accompanied by a pate' or dip of sorts. It was excellent. I didn't know what it was, therefore I asked. It had tuna as well as a good number of other ingredients. Together, it did not taste very fishy or potent in any way, except incredibly flavorful. Their cuisine is representative of all of Portugal, although Perla's roots are in Northern Portugal. The painted ceramic rooster for good luck one often sees hails from Barcelos, just slightly north of the Porto area. In fact, the fueling and rest areas on the toll road through Barcelos have these modern metallic renditions of the rooster that are minimalistic silhouettes you look right through. I might add a few other things that made me glad I returned to Perla. For one, Lusophones are well represented among the customers. But, more importantly, they fill an important niche for me since so many Portuguese locales miss this mark. They are essentially a reliable mid-range restaurant with a broad enough menu. Here, you can avoid the end points that I don't much care for or seek - the piri piri (or peri peri) chicken places where you accompany your order with a pastel de nata that the "hey, wow man" types (at least on the Plateau in Montreal) tend to frequent and the high-end restaurants where Portuguese leans haute cuisine, a lot is about presentation, and the portions are small. (In Montreal, one such place should immediately come to mind.) I was happy that I stopped by, using the TTC card with which you can avoid the crazy Toronto traffic and parking hassles. The College Street streetcar practically stops in front of Perla's door. It all adds up. The team running this restaurant puts their hearts into their work. I am going to go with 5 stars, with each one representing a letter in the word P-E-R-L-A.
