Such a great vibe and the place is looking amazing after a refresh. Staff are nice. Seems like so many regulars. So much kindness

A 24 hour bakery? Yes, please! Brazil Bakery and Pastry is a large bakery/lunch spot in West Dundas. They, of course, make the best of pastries and munchies from Brazil, but they also bake fresh bread and pastries. If you like donuts, order their chocolate sprinkle donut. It has a slight lemon taste to it, but after a few bites, you're hooked. It's cheap, moist, and sooooo good! When we visited Toronto, we'd go here daily...literally.

My friend told me that people from Brazil are known as "Brazzers", I'm not sure if this is accurate or not, perhaps one of you can tell me. Whatever they are called, they make freaking amazing Pasteis De Nata. What to get: Pasteis De Nata, a Sumol Orange drink, maybe more. What else: A Pasteis De Nata is a Portuguese Custard Tart, and it will cost you next to Nata. I've been in love with Brazilian/Portuguese Custard Tarts for years now, ever since I first discovered them in... damn, I can't even remember where. Possibly in Toronto itself at Golden Wheat Bakery. This place makes an excellent version, not perhaps as perfect as my faves at Progress, Brick Street and Golden Wheat, but it's right up there and easily a five-star bakery. It's flaky, with a very thin but doughy crust. If you're lucky for the Dutch bakery you're on the wrong side of the street. You should head over to Pastry Dutchy on the left hand side. This place is huge (like... never mind) with tons of other options, and masses of drink choices imported from Portuguese-speaking countries such as the excellent Sumol Orange Soda (makes any orange soda made in America taste like crap, which they do anyway - try it), and Guarana sodas of course. Service is nice, the place is busy and spacious and friendly, prices are okay (not cheap by any means), and it really feels like a little corner of Brazil in the middle of Toronto, which granted is a very Brazilian-influenced city. And if your underwear is feeling poorly, count yourself lucky because I have it worse. My bra's ill.

The best macchiato I've had in Toronto, plus a bakery and deli stand. An institution on Dundas

Pateis de Nata Portuguese custard tarts

3.5 stars for the Pateis de Nata ... I know its Portuguese Custard Tarts but guess what, the Brazilians did a pretty good job. I've been trying all the Portuguese Custard Tarts in the area and my current reigning favourite is Venezia with Novita, Caldense, and Nova Era all serving up decent versions. Brazil Bakery is a large cafe with a take out bakery on the East side with the west side having all the tables and seating. There is a lot of space so you're never feeling crowded and there windows do offer a lot of natural light in so it's not too dark and cave like. The bakery does feel a bit dated but in a good way. It's like time stood still when everyone would come in for their coffee and pateis de nata first thing in the morning before heading into Toronto or on Sundays after church. The bakery offers a lot of breads and they're all baked in house. Lots of loaves or buns to choose from the many many racks. They also have lots of cakes pre made for you or the many sweets ... there is a mountain of cakes, tarts, and cookie types. Pateis de Nata - For only $2.80, you get 2 freshly made custard tarts. That's right... for less then a cup of coffee at a good spot, you get 2 of these! It's a complete steal especially when across the street you have to pay $5.50 for 1 tart. Anyhow, these are quite nice... crispy crust that flakes and shatters when you bite into it. An oozy centre that is more like a molten cake than any firm eggy custard. It was a novel approach and i do like it. As for flavour, I found the custard to be sweeter than Venezia and more generically one note (just sweet). I didnt taste any egg or vanilla. Still a great pateis de nata! 3.5/5 Definitely come for the super affordable and well made tarts... grab a large loaf while your'e add it. I saw they do make fresh donuts but they werent there during the week day. You'll be served quickly and be enjoying your custards with a few pieces of change in your pocket.

    Portuguese tart

This would be my first time having a Portuguese tart outside of a Chinese bakery that also made egg tarts. I find that egg tarts and Portuguese tarts are very similar. I went into Little Portugal to find these more legitimate tarts to see if I liked them. The woman who took my order was extremely kind and helpful and recommended I also try a milk tart when I asked what else I should try. I ordered a few Portuguese tarts and milk tarts. The portuguese tart was sweeter than the egg tart of Hong Kong which is totally fine by me. It was good and I definitely can confirm that I like Portuguese tarts. The milk tart was even sweeter than the Portuguese tart and to be honest, I have no idea how to explain the taste. For this one, it might have been a little too sweet for me.

Came to to get back to my Portuguese roots. Just like the bake shops I've been to in Brazil. You can't go wrong if you like bake goods. So many to choose from. The egg custard tarts were a little to sweet for me.

PLEASE READ NOTICE TO THE END. Yesterday my sister Sandy went to this bakery in Dundas and Sheridan to buy a sweet bread last night her husband cut a slice and ate it without knowing there was something wrong with it... this morning after my sister woke up she made a cup of coffee she was going to sit down to cut a slice of sweet bread for herself and was disgusted by what she found in the bread was a huge COCKOROACH that was baked in bread this is unacceptable. Today she went there to talk to the manager and told her what happened the woman was in shock she said she would take care of the problem my sister said if she did not she said to the lady that will call health and safety board will have an update tomorrow on what is happening this is so disgusting

Lots of choices for desserts and bread. My wife and I got a pistachio cannoli. It is so gooooood! Such a huge cannoli is only $2.47.

    A natta
    Jon T.

The nata is sweet, and has a custard of a nice consistency. The shell is crunchy and softly flaky. Great to eat on a warm summer day. Get six natas to get them tax free, which is good, but you may want to share the six natas with two or three friends. Despite the more rugged exterior, the jnside is clean and well furnished. Next time I go to Brazil Bakery I will try some of their other baked goods which also look good

This Malasada is massive... so good to!

There are 2 locations north of Toronto, north essentially the same. It a large open space with tables far enough apart that you don't feel like you're sitting right next to strangers. There are a few appetizers like the cheese bread and some grilled vegetables. These are bland and have no real flavour. Their corn bread, however, is fantastic. The meat variety is good. Of course, they have picanha (a Brazilian cut of meat), Parmesan sirloin steak, sausage, chicken, grilled pineapple, shrimp, and others. They have beans and rice too. The staff walk around constantly and offer food. They're friendly and are happy to give you an extra piece of meat if that's the one you really like. These reason for 4 stars is that its nearly impossible to get meat that's prepared medium or well done. Not all my family likes rare/medium rare, and while it's possible to request well done, it takes 15-20 minutes to get 2 little pieces of meat by which time you're ready for more and have to wait another 15-20 minutes. This, while all the others are busily eating.

The space is lively and the service is attentive, which makes the experience enjoyable. As for the food, the variety is decent, and the meats are generally well-seasoned and flavorful. I especially liked the grilled pineapple -- it was juicy and nicely caramelized. However, if you're not a fan of cinnamon, this might not be your favorite, as the flavor is quite noticeable. Overall, it's a good experience and worth trying at least once, but in terms of variety and overall balance, I personally still lean towards Copacabana.

Its location is the former site of another Brazilian restaurant (Sabor Brasil). They kept much of the exterior signage, interior, and most of the menu items the same / very similar to the restaurant that previously occupied the space. We came here specifically to try the Moqueca De Peixe Com Camarão & Arroz E Pirão (grouper fish & shrimps stew with tomatoes, green peppers, onions, cilantro, and coconut milk), and it did not disappoint! The stew was so flavourful and they gave a lot of grouper fish and big shrimps in the pot. I really liked the tomatoes and cilantro in the stew. It came bubbling hot, with Brazilian fish gravy served in a smaller pot beside it. It was served with garlic-infused rice that was just as flavourful. Tip: Order farofa (toasted cassava flour) alongside any stew dish, then mix it with the stew. The textures complement each other very well. The Grilled Salmon was also really good. It was flavourful and I could see and taste the charred grill mark. It came served with rice (also infused with garlic) and choice of side. I chose a side of vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, carrot, green beans) and they were excellent! In addition to the main dishes, we ordered a large House Salad (nice, simple, and refreshing), Brazilian Tomato Slaw (for extra veggies - also refreshing), and Farofa (a must-get every time I go to a Brazilian restaurant). Everything we tried was delicious x100. Food came out in a decent amount of time, and service was nice and friendly. The ambience was very casual with Portuguese music playing in the background. I definitely recommend this place if you want to try authentic Brazilian dishes in a casual setting!

So, when my family was looking for somewhere to gather for an early Father's Day connect. I quickly suggested Copa. So, disappointed in the entire experience and very embarrassed after how great I told my family it would be and everyone was extremely unhappy with the experience. You would think a group that large with the cost of this place would get some reasonable service, the entire staff literally overlooked our group. They would tell the kids they are coming back with things like pineapple that they were excited about and never came back. The management and servers should get a better flow and order to how the meats come out. The servers seem like they all forget where they stopped last and then they just never get around to some tables. There should be some kind of memory to what tables you went to before you ran out, and where to pick back up once you get back on the floor. $1400 for a dinner where all our men left hungry. We kept reminding the server that we had not seen any meat for over 30 minutes, and she said she would address it then the manager said the same, and still we were charged full price with 25% of the experience. Will never say positive words about Copa again. Complete waste of our time and money. No consideration from the staff. And after the hour were we had only 4 meats come to the table and the servers saying they can only give guests 2 small pieces of meat at a time, they started to again not appear then stop coming completely. I would dispute this charge that's how bad it is, as a person who happily spend over $300 on a meal for my self if the food and service is great.
