Still one of Toronto's Best Portuguese restaurants. From first class service to the taste of every plate. Chiado is a signature destination in Toronto's College St District. The fresh fish is brought to your table and prepared perfectly. The additional menu items all are on point. Seafood here is what you want but they do have some beef and lamb options for those who are not as interested in the seafood. I had this unique dish called Dry Soup. A different version of the traditional Seafood stew but a different broth and soaking in bread. Simply scrumptious. The wine selection is massive and I would recommend asking staff for recommendations based on the meal. They will pair your dinner with the best selection of Portuguese wines based on your budget. The finishing desserts are also off the charts with classic poached pear to a Portuguese style tiramisu. Coffee and Port are a must. Classic atmosphere.

Have been coming here for years and they still maintain high standards around service and food. All 6 of us had a wonderful time and enjoyed everything from the service, to the wine, to all the delectable dishes, carefully prepared by the kitchen. They were also very good about taking note of our food allergies/dietary restrictions. I don't know our service name, but he was super attentive, but never hovering. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for fine dining. Can't wait to go back.

I was invited for a business lunch to this exceptional restaurant . The interior is warm and luxurious with a hint of subdued elegance. The menu has an excellent selection of fish & seafood prepared in many variations, not to mention fish is flown in from Portugal. The staff are attentive and the maître d as well as hostess provide a refined level of service . I thoroughly enjoyed Grilled filet of Grouper cherry tomato, jalapeño salsa and a Portuguese beer . The food was delicious and delectable. This is definitely on my list of restaurants to have a romantic & elegant dinner with my wife.

wow this meal was so good I had to bust out of retirement and post about it! Had the amazing opportunity to dine at Chiado a few weeks ago, my first real upscale Portuguese fine dining experience! I came with some colleagues so we were able to try many different dishes! Grilled Squid - this was more slimy than I'd expected Grilled Tiger Shrimp - this app was Squash and Roasted Pepper Soup Grilled Octopus Lobster Risotto - lobster was a little dry but risotto was SO GOOD All the desserts were super well made and came in all different presentations! Definitely can't go wrong with any of them if you have a sweet tooth

Chiado excels on many fronts: the customer service, the food, the ambience of the restaurant, and the high-quality dishes that you get. They truly excel when it comes to seafood and fine-dining experience (even for take-out!). We came for pick-up order (because dine-in was closed due to the lockdown at that time), and the awesome customer service was already shown right from the moment we entered the door. All the staff were super friendly and went above and beyond (even for a pick-up order), such as offering us to sit down and a drink while waiting. The inside of the restaurant was also very nice and had a classy, fine-dining atmosphere. In terms of the food, everything wow-ed us, especially the ginormous sizes of the seafood (especially the octopus leg and shrimps). Taste, freshness, portion size, and all aspects of the every dish were perfection. We ordered: - Arugula & Fresh Figs Salad with slivers of aged Lourais cheese, lemon & extra virgin olive oil - Grilled Octopus with red onion & sweet bell peppers salsa + roasted potatoes and vegetables - Monk Fish Loin with tomatoes, Madeira wine, and piri piri glaze + roasted potatoes and vegetables - Grilled Tiger Shrimps on Saffron Risotto - Pan Seared Skate Fish on Lemon Spinach Risotto - Vegetarian Risotto - SIDES: Sautéed rapini, asparagus The salad was fresh and the fresh figs added a nice juicy sweetness - perfect compelement to the naturally slightly bitter arugula. The sizes of the grilled octopus and shrimps were just wow. They were cooked very tender (especially the octopus). It was probably one of the best octopus dishes I've had. Every main dish came with a good amount of vegetables and carbs (whether it be potatoes or risotto). We tried 3 different kinds of risotto, and all of them were excellent. My favourites were the Saffron Risotto (aromatic, tasty, and felt like a comfort food with the mixture of soft rice and diced tomatoes) and Vegetarian Risotto (this contained a LOT of different kids of veggies - asparagus, rapini, spinach, snowpeas, carrots, red & yellow bell peppers). I highly recommend the Pan Seared Skate Fish - this was one of my favourite dishes at Chiado. The fish was SO soft and tender, and had a texture that was unique compared to any other fish. It was seared and seasoned perfectly. Another dish I recommend is the Grilled Octopus. Not only was the octopus leg ginormous and so soft & tender inside, but it also came with rapini, roasted mini potatoes, beets, sweet potato, carrot, and some other root vegetables. The red onion & sweet bell peppers salsa went really well with the grilled octopus. All the side vegetables were nice, not overly cooked, and not saucy or oily at all - just how sides are supposed to be. As a fine-dining restaurant, everything was definitely worth the price tag.

Came here on me and my dad's birthday on a Monday- it was pretty busy but service was amazing and the servers gave great recommendations! We ordered: Steamed Clams Carpaccio of Grouper Roasted Australian Rack of Lamb Grilled Octopus Pan Seared Sea Bass Natas do Ceu Peras Cozidas The clams were perfectly cooked and very tasty. I love Carpaccio but never had Grouper of it before and it was a very mild fish, thicker cut than I expected and dressed with well balanced acidic flavours. The rack of Lamb was so tender and cooked perfectly. The grilled Octopus is something I order at almost every restaurant and this was one of the best I've ever had! The thick cut tentacle was extremely tender and juicy, you have to order it! Desserts were a bit too sweet for us but thr Pear Dessert is very unique and great presentation. Can't wait to come back one day!

Celebrated my mom's birthday here and had a fantastic experience. I loved their paintings! The restaurant felt authentically Portuguese. The wines were tremendous, our waiter was awesome and fun. The main entries were delicious, the seafood were cooked correctly and their sauces were really good. The chef sent us complimentary housemade cow cheese slices with balsamic and honey which was incredibly soft and easily the best cow cheese I've ever eaten! I can still taste it. I hated the appetizers - this place needs to include some family style shareable apps. The ones we ordered "for the table" after consulting with the waiter were not appropriately portioned and none were really shareable. The grilled squid was bitter and had too much char in some pieces making it inedible. The sardines were fine and the mussels in white wine was just okay (I've had better). All in all, the apps tasted like they were cooked by an amateur while the entries and wines saved the day. I will be back but will not recommend Chiado for big groups. They don't really have anything that can be shared by families and they are going to lose a lot of business with this strategy.

I cannot even begin to describe how disappointed I was with Chiado. We came here during Summerlicious lunch, we ordered Lobster & Shrimp Bisque, Saffron, Armagnac and Salmon & Grouper Ceviche, Avocado, Pineapple, Cucumber to start. The appetizers and bread that came with the table were both really good, but when it came to the mains, we were sorely disappointed. We ordered the Grouper & Shrimp Risotto, Saffron Fresh Tomato and the Pan Seared Skate Fish on Lemon Coriander Risotto, Tomato Jalapeno Confit. They were just mediocre with no distinctive flavor. In addition, for the price point, the seafood did not taste fresh at all. The dessert was also just ok. I personally found the paintings in Chiado a little dark and disturbing. The servers were also snobby and rude. Needless to say I will not be going back.

Easily my favourite Summerlicious 2022 dinner menu. For $75, it makes such an expensive experience like chiado affordable for mere peasants like my broke student self. The seafood was exceptional, service good, wine delicious and fairly priced, and best of all, they have complimentary olive oil and bread basket.

Chiado is a Portuguese restaurant with mainly seafood on their menus. And they do it so well! It's one of those beautiful and elegant restaurants for special occasions. My recommendations are: Grilled octopus - The texture of the octopus is so tender! And seasoned perfectly! Pan seared loin monkfish with glaze of piri piri - Monkfish has a slightly chewier texture compared to regular fish and I really enjoy that. The piri piri sauce is the highlight! Nova Scotia Lobster on risotto of saffron - generous chunks of fresh lobster on a bed of delicious risotto! Assorda (dry soup) with monkfish, lobster, shrimp and clams - each spoonful is filled with chunks of seafood!!! Salmon was good too but not a stand out compared to the rest. Of course dessert is also beautifully presented and delicious! Natas do Ceu - It's deconstructed Portuguese traditional dessert natas. Just as good as the normal thing! Molotof - The size of it is impressive! But it's so airy that most of it is not actually food. Lol! Tarte de Peras com Mascarpone - This is probably my favorite! Light and fresh pear tart!

I was very excited before trying this place, some of my friends told me that they are the best seafood restaurant in the area, so I decided to give this place a try for winterlicious. We arrived at 5pm, the place is pretty empty. We were handed a basket of assorted bread and bread crisps, and the server came to add olive oil in our dishes. I was starving so I ate them all in few minutes. Fun thing about this restaurant is, their cheaper lunch has LOTS OF same items as the dinner menu, so we decided to go with the options which are not available for the lunch menu to make it most worthy. I went with Sea scallops for appetizer, rack of lamb for entree and ginger cake for desserts. 1. Sea Scallops, white asparagus puree, candied orange - It came with 2 big pan seared scallops on very fragrant white puree. The sweetness of the red sauce balanced very well with the scallops, I finished it super fast because it was way too delicious, and I dipped my bread into the puree to finish that too. 2. Australian Rack of Lamb, rapini mousse, Douro red wine jus - before this dish was served I was about to give this place a high score, but this lamb was just, disappointing. I love lamb and I always try to order lamb in lots of restaurants, I understand that lamb flavor is unique and cannot be compared to much of anything else, and a good lamb dish combines flavours, juiciness and softness. However, I don't know if it was intended or not, but the herbs used for the lamb chop make the smell unbearable, it was WAY TOO SALTY and it was WAY UNDER COOKED. I would not recommend it at all. We finished our entree for like good 25 minutes, but the server just skipped our table and never came to collect our dishes, thank god we were not in a hurry, I find their service very bad, its not a big place, and they have lots of staff, I just don't understand why their waiters just not so professional. Overall, I only enjoyed my appetizer, I didn't enjoy the entree nor the desserts, and I didn't like the service at all. It's indeed not an expensive dinner for such a restaurant, so I shouldn't be complaining, but still I hope their real menu is much tastier.

So I decided to finally try this place out. A Portuguese restaurant located in the College and Davenport area. Nice decor slightly old world and modern design. Lots of interesting painting on the walls and decorative design. Bistro style if you will, with an open Kitchen concept. On to the food. Started off with a bottle of white wine that they recommended. It was good..clean crisp pinot grigio. Also they gave us some complemtarty cheese to start. We ordered the Rack of Lamb and the Skate fish with risotto. One of the waiters came by with a tray of fish and explained what the fish specialties were. It was pretty unique and interesting. Rack of lamb was served medium rare and was good. Portions were ok as they were 3 thick pieces of Lamb on the bone served with vegetables. The Skate wing was served on risotto and was very nicely cooked. not over cooked with the right texture. To be honest, i was surprised with the dish and i would highly recommend it. Dessert was a cream Natas do Ceu. It was nice, kind of like a tiramisu. Finished off with espresso. Overall i would say that this restaurant was good if you wanted to splurge and have a fancy dinner out. The only thing that was a little fustrating was the service. The waiters and bussers were effieient but they seemed too busy.. maybe put on more staff? Anyway, it is worth a try for the fish and maybe the other seafood.

The crudo was among the best I've ever had and the bread came with an assortment of butters, each one addictive. Finished the whole loaf. They also were nice enough to give me one slice of bacon, which I pretty much inhaled. We then ordered the lobster spaghetti and the prime rib, which was as flavorful as any prime rib I've had without the bone. Our server recommended horseradish (a $4 extra charge, which seems petty). I don't think necessary as the meat was so flavorful. The spaghetti was delicious, but so creamy and rich, it was hard to finish. I'd recommend sharing it. Had the kale gratin as a side, which was perfect. Finished off with the chocolate cake which was really good!. We will definitely return!

Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. One thing worth noting is that if you're provided with a menu, not everything listed is available as part of the buffet. Certain seafood dishes and desserts are reserved for à la carte service, which wasn't immediately obvious. The experience started a little inconsistently. Some tables received a welcome drink while others did not, and there didn't appear to be any explanation for the difference. The atmosphere also wasn't quite what I expected. It often felt as though the dining room was geared more toward content creation than enjoying a leisurely meal. Buffet lines became quite long at times as some guests paused to set up ring lights and film multiple shots before moving on. Throughout the afternoon, ring lights remained in use at several tables, and a few groups could be heard repeating their toasts to capture the perfect video. While I understand that's part of the social media culture today, it did take away from what could have been a more relaxed dining experience. As for the food, it was enjoyable but ultimately didn't stand out. Given the restaurant's reputation, I had expected a bit more in terms of quality and freshness. Toronto has no shortage of excellent sushi restaurants, many of which offer a stronger culinary experience in a more relaxed setting. One interaction with the manager also left me a little puzzled. While checking in with our table, he seemed surprised to learn that we were locals, mentioning that most guests he speaks with are visiting from out of town. Considering the restaurant's location beside one of the city's major theatres in the Entertainment District, I wasn't sure why that was unexpected. He then shared that he never leaves the city for anything, which made for an unusual conversation and didn't feel especially relevant to our dining experience. Overall, I can understand why the restaurant appeals to those looking for a lively, social media-friendly outing. For me, however, the focus seemed to lean more toward the atmosphere than the food itself. While I'm glad I gave it a try, I don't think it would be my first choice the next time I'm looking for a sushi buffet

When each dish arrives, the server describes what it is which is nice. But with a larger table, a typical noisy din on a busy Saturday evening, often diners can't hear or understand what was said. Some of us would appreciate if the servers would slow down, and make sure we heard more clearly what we were in store for with each amazing dish. Otherwise, our service was great! The asians at the table appreciated the tea served in the typical familiar glass teapots when I asked what they wanted to drink, knowing that they were not into beer or cocktails like westerners, or even the other typical non-alcoholic beverages available. That helped make them happy with hanging out for an extended time in the fine dining tradition. We did have to ask for the servers to keep the tea flowing to our table, since that is part of the idea and the shared experience that needed inclusivity. The server explained that the menu was a mediterranean sharing menu, so we felt like we were a family. The free flowing tea dove-tailed nicely with that theme. It was a bit of a learning experience for the Abrielle staff to see that hey, we needed more tea cups and more tea for everyone!! Not just the teetotallers in the group, us beer drinkers want to be included too : ) When we turned down the dessert options it was a nice VIP touch that they brought out a little bite of a matcha mousse sweet at the end which was super tasty! Fantastic and highly recommended.

My husband and I together with my sister and her husband decided to eat out and chose Abrielle…read moreToronto. We were extremely impressed with their services. The Bar Manager Jorge together with the servers took time to explain every dish that was served. The food was tasty...the service was perfect. The atmosphere was so relaxing. We will definitely be back!
