Fantastic place for Indian grocery.. the best ever selection, no expired dates and fair prices.

We just came back from a trip to Nepal with a quick stop in Old Delhi. We have been jonesing to experiment making some traditional Indian food dishes and the trip was all the inspiration we needed. A good friend recommended Bombay Bazaar and so we went. The smell is an interesting mix of rich spices and people...just like India! Whether you are cooking for a crowd or an intimate gathering this store has options to suit your needs. Made from scratch or grab and go from the refrigerated or frozen sections, there arelots and lots of options. Spices are priced so affordably. I'll never buy spices in the traditional grocery store again. Can't wait to create some food and come back to try more options. I would say 50% of the items are not priced nor are there shelf tags. I might have paid more on some things but made up for it in others like spices and bulk items. read more

I want to like Bombay Bazaar with their variety of INDIAN GOONESS. Its indeed the MECCA store to get your INDIAN grocery galore needs. With the pre-packaged meals that can comes in handy if I am too tired to cook and the variety of spices you can get, this place has it. Though I cant deny some things are slightly above the price of other Indian grocer that I am used to. Perhaps they have the UPPER HAND to increase those items since they are the ONLY INDIAN Grocer in town to carry that PARTICULAR Basmati Rice that I have been using. Oh well. Just be extra careful, coz sometimes the items they sell is EXPIRED. As for the customer services, sometimes can be cold, sometimes can be friendly. Another down side for this store is, sometimes the items are not being tagged with a price list. This made me slightly frustrated since I like to know how much I am buying or getting from my list. Is this really being allowed to sell items without a PRICE code in Metro Denver? Might return and see how my parents think about this store and perhaps my review my differ. read more

Love this place! I found it on a whim as I was at the tailor next door getting something fixed and happened to stop in here and glad I did!!they were just about to close when I got in but they still helped me with what I needed and gave me advice on what would be a better choice in several items. They have a great selection of frozen veggies and frozen fruits! They even have a great selection of frozen kababs and Indian dishes which I got for my son. I also love tamarind and was able to get it much cheaper here! Love this store will def be back. They even have mango purée to make great vegan smoothies with! read more

Really a 3.5. I am taking Covid into account, here, Yelp. Thanks for being a helicopter parent. I've been shopping at Bombay Bazaar off and on for 14 years. Mainly when dining next door, but I do make trips just for this shop. The pros: selection Location Sometimes price (see cons) Clean The cons: Inconsistent with labeling items with prices, rarely has shelf tags Cluttered (which isn't dirty, just...makes a trip difficult) Some prices are wildly out of line for the region Expiration dates. They seemingly don't check, or don't care, so you should (and it's always the good stuff) Customer service is non existent. And almost always, the cashier, a woman, leaves as I walk up, and an older man steps in. I am a woman. The kitchenware area has been a wreck the last three times I've been in (two pre Covid). It's a weird and uncomfortable atmosphere. Other Indian stores locally aren't so dissociative. However, selection can make up for lack of service. I was able to get tea masala (the spice mix) for a friend who thinks mine is too fiery-spicy. Expiration dates were reasonable, and the price was good on both sizes. Decent selection of bulk size rice. One or two options in brown/unpolished. Pulses/lentils/beans selection is excellent. read more

A Denver staple for many years that is clean and well organized with a great variety of Pakistani and Indian groceries.

In the same Aurora stripmall as Masalaa (see previous review) lies another gem fit for a Raja - Bombay Bazaar. When you enter you may at first be puzzled by the name of the shop since the owner is a Sikh from India's Punjab region, which is not terribly close to Bombay/Mumbai. However, rest assured that Bombay Bazaar carries products from all over India and beyond. To your right as you step in are coolers filled with frozen veggies and breads of all stripes as well as ready-to-cook meals and snacks (including a pastry remarkably like a Hot Pocket (TM)). Here you will also find the fresh cheese called Paneer as well as Kulfi (ice cream) in many flavors - my favorites are Aam (mango) and Sitaphal (sweetsop). Shelves overflow with spice blends such as Garam Masala and chutneys like Amla (gooseberry) and Gongura (a tangy herb from the southern state of Andhra Pradesh) as well as a variety of Namkeens (snacks) which are crunchy, spicy and more-ish - all at the same time! Bottles of cordial syrups such as Rose, Orange, Lemon and Khus (a native plant with a vivid green color and a distinctive herby taste) will compete for your attention too (they sometimes even have the syrup to make Thandai, the sweet/spicy drink consumed especially during the harvest festival of Holi). If that wasn't enough they even have a small produce section! Yes, visit Bombay Bazaar and find the answers to your South Asian queries, big and small. read more

Bombay Bazaar had all of the harder to find ingredients I needed to start cooking. The owner patiently walked around the store with me to show me where my shopping list items were located. He made recommendations on his favorite items and directed me to buy smaller quantities as appropriate. The store was clean and well organized. I will definitely be back! read more

I though I would visit this location and see how many Caribbean foods I could find here. I was followed and watched the whole time I was shopping. The tall man had his hand on his hip standing and watching me as if he expected I would steal something. I guess being Black determines that? I was in a hurry and did not have time to go anywhere else so I purchased my items while still being watched and left. It is so disrespectful to treat someone like this. I will never visit this place again and would advise other people of colour to take their business elsewhere. read more

This is one of my new favorite places to shop. They have a larger than usual selection of everything you might be looking for from India. They have everything from bags of all types of rice, delicious snack foods with indian spices. Many things here are gluten free and are made with chickpea instead of wheat. You can find spices for a fraction of the cost at your local Kroger. They have papad, curries of all sorts, tons of frozen items including entrees, desserts, and breads. There is a section of cookware and other kitchen needs. Don't forget to bring your own reusable grocery bags. Try something new! read more

Bombay Bazaar is a fantastic store for the Indian chef at home. They have been able to provide me with every "strange" ingredient I've needed to create my Indian masterpieces. Fenugreek seeds, red chili powder, lentils, tamarind, green cardamum pods, blanched almonds, and many more spices and CHEAP prices! The selection of curry pastes, chutneys & sauces is incredible! I recommend the Patak's brand. I have not been disappointed ONCE by a bottle of Patak's chutney or paste that I have purchased and Bombay Bazaar carries a wide variety of their stuff. Next, they have giant bags of varieties of rice. Jasmine, basmati, etc... They also have a freezer section filled with pre-made garlic & plain naan, roti, frozen dinners & veggies. They also have fresh garlic & ginger as well as a small selection of fresh veggies. Everything sold in this store is noticeably cheaper than what you would find in a regular grocery store and for some of the stuff, IF you could find it in a regular grocery store. Bombay Bazaar is great for collecting the unique ingredients you need for Indian dishes and maybe a few veggies, but they don't have meat or a wide selection of veggies so it's not a "complete" shopping experience, but that doesn't bother me. On grocery day, I like adventuring to different stores to find the puzzle pieces to whatever I will be creating over the next few days. Bombay Bazaar plays a large roll in my kitchen and I'm thankful to have them around. read more

Very clean and organized market with a nice frozen food section and a small produce section. They sell everything from what appears to be necessary spices and herbs to crackers, snacks, sweets, movies, cds, and kitchen utensils and cookers. If they don't have something, ask and they may be able to come out with it. (coriander leaves anyone?) As mentioned, the guys aren't the "friendliest," but they will help you if asked. This is an all-in one Indian supplies store. To call this place justa grocery store, does not do justice. They sell groceries..yeah, but they also have appliances, cd's, dvd's, cookers and all sortsa other utensils. So, if you were to walk into an empty kitchen, Bombay bazaar could fill it up for ya. Now for those who visit this place for the first time, a couple of pointers: -If you have a special order, they taken 'em and usually have it available for you by the next week - They get most of their fresh imported veggies on Thursday, so, you know when to go geth 'em. - If you buy appliances from them, the sale is as-is, you'll have to work back issues with the reseller - Don't expect a smile, 'hello' or 'thankyou' or 'did you find everything you need'...don't ask me why, but that's that's just the way it is (been waiting for that smile for 10 years now;)) So, until we get a Patel's chain in Denver, Bombay Bazaar does just fine. read more

Cheap lentils by the tonage! 10 pounds of red lentils for $17 - woot! This is the place my indian co-workers said to go to, so i did. I can't compare to other local indian grocery stores- but there are tons of items in that store. So many yummy goodies! All the lentils i can carry, all the cumin i can carry and everything else! The plus point of this place is that it is clean. Rest everything is not so so good. Expensive prices than other Indian store (India's Harvest). The biggest turn off of this store is it's owner (Old Sardar ji), who does not greet, smile, or speak to any customer. Never been there until I know of other Indian stores. read more

I love this place! I've only been a few times, as it's a bit far to go frequently, though I'd go more often if I lived closer. I've always thought the staff were very kind, so I was surprised to see any negative reviews. They have a great selection of snacks, spices, dry goods, frozen foods, etc. If you like Indian food and cooking with unique ingredients, definitely check this spot out. I want to give zero star for this store but there is no option. Bombay Bazaar is too expensive this store charge $2/$3 extra on most of the items sometime it goes $5 extra also, specialty on festival time. Other side they never provide itemized receipt, you can not verify the price of each item that you bought with the help of receipt, it shows some random article number and price. Other side store owner shows too much attitude and talk rudely. No customer satisfaction. I recommend Mythri Groceries (http://mythrigroceries.com) in Lone Tree CO 80124. Spotted Sardarji picking tons of Yogurts and flavored butter milk from Aarash International market and selling it 50c more than Aarash .... Every product sold is 50c more than other Indian grocery shops . Found this after multiple visits and research because of the way they print the sales receipt .. Highlight in the sales receipt- The sales receipt will have Item 1 , Item 2 Item 3 .. and so on .. and the actual items will not have the price tag on it -- imagine the scenario you won't know what is the price of what .. This is our go-to Indian grocery store. They carry a wide variety of spices, sauces, ready-to-eat stuff, frozen desert, frozen entrees, ice creams, Ayurvedic juices etc. They also have the greatest variety of brands as compared to other local Indian grocery stores. Apart from the regular grocery items, they also carry DVDs, CDs and kitchen appliances (pressure cookers, mixer grinders etc). The prices are reasonable and comparable to the other local stores. This is one overpriced Indian grocery store. The place reeks of stinginess. There's no staff, only one person at the counter. Forget about any help to find an item here. I dropped by last night hoping that the store would be open, and since it was, I came in to buy some chana dal and some golden raisins. The store is very organized, and the prices are great. When I got up to the counter, I asked the owner what his store hours are, and he said they close at 9 pm. It was 9:20 pm. I realized I was keeping him and apologized, and he was very nice about it. Never go here!!!! They hate anyone who visits their shop and the owner never leaves his perch. We had stopped going there for good..based on our experience. couple of months ago as our preferred Indian store was closed we went to Bombay Bazaar to pick up a few things. After our completing our shopping, we went to Bill. Lo and Behold Bombay Bazaar owner commands us to pay cash as his phone connection was not working. I use cards for my purchase and was extremely annoyed. I asked him if he had an issue why could he not put a small note. I would have avoided wasting my time. He responded saying that would be insulting to him. To him it is okay if a customer suffers. I would recommend going to India Harvest instead of this shop if you are looking for a good indian store in this neighbourhood read more

I just moved to Denver and wanted to visit a good Indian store. I saw the store while driving down from work to grab some lunch and decided to stop by. Everything was over-priced. I saw some food items that already had the price printed on the box ($1.49) but I think whoever stocks the shelves didn't see the printed price and marked it up to $2.99. The guy behind the counter was rude. I got four movies from him and he practically threw the movies at me.....I was so mad that I would have cursed him out but didn't say anything considering his age. He might not be the owner, but the owner should realize that he might loose out on some business because of the rudeness of his employees. I won't visit the store ever...will visit other stores even if they don't carry as much stuff as Bombay Bazaar does. read more

Bombay Bazaar is the very best Indian super market in Colorado. It has an extensive variety of dry, fresh and frozen food including all types of groceries and spices. Mr. Singh, the owner is very knowledgeable about the products he has for sale. The store is well organized, well lit and very clean and smells very nice. It is not cluttered but rather spacious and welcoming. I have gone to other Indian stores but nothing compares to Bombay Bazaar. I have been going to Bombay Bazaar for over 20 plus years and have seen it grow from a small store to its current spacious size. I do not go any other Indian stores as Bombay Bazaar has the very best quality, freshness and very fair prices. Best Indian store in Colorado is my vote. I strongly recommend Bombay Bazaar as you will get the very best in Indian food, groceries, and spices and will be treated right. You get everything from small trial packets to large size packets. Very expensive, atleast $1-2 higher on each item compared to other Indian grocery stores. Also, some of the products are old stock. I bought a bottle of pickle once only to come home and realize that it had expired a couple of months ago! I will give this store 2 stars because it carries the most of any Indian grocery store in Denver. But there is a big downside to shopping at Bombay Bazaar. Most of the items do not have a price. Also, at checkout, each item shows on the receipt as DEPT001. You have no idea what the charges are for. I bought 16 items and the bill came to about $77.00. I had no idea how much I paid for each item. I suspect I may have been over-charged for a few items. Will not visit this store in future. read more

Since traveling to India and hosting many Indian visitors, Bombay Bazaar has become my go to place for Indian cooking items and Bollywood films. I have had many instructors in Indian cooking and one of my favorite cooks, Brijesh, taught me how to look for the spice mix boxes in the back of the store. Need to make Riatta, just get the spice box, read the back for additional ingredients, and you will have a perfectly seasoned Riatta. Many have said that the owner is the only problem with the store; they say he is cranky and not very friendly. This might be true but I have taken great joy in making him smile; I will wear my Indian suit into the store, get the things I need, and then will ask him to help me make a decision about something. The last time it was which it the best Sambhar spice; by the time I had asked the right questions and what was his favorite there was an ever so slight upturn of his mouth. My friends from India also agree best shop in Denver for Indian cooking. read more
