I had to inform her of the Parisian, which I knew she would love, and tempting her to visit me sooner than later. This market is my absolute favorite for everything from a quick pick up bite, to beautiful produce and a meat/fish counter which will make you want to turn into Julia Childs herself. Don't get me started on the chocolate offerings or candies from small (some local) businesses which are to die for. All of the staff is polite, informative and helpful. The wine shop next door has some unique finds and def worth grabbing a bottle for yourself, a gift or to share at a dinner party. Only bummer about this place...the hours. Glad I found this place. I had read some time ago that Marczyk Fine Foods was a gourmet food shop and I finally made it by here for one of their outstanding sandwiches. They offer a number of options. Once you order, they prepare and call your name when ready. The turkey, avocado and bacon was a real hit. Huge, fresh delicious. Love the arugula. Inside the store is stocked with fresh, organic vegetables, lots of Italian specialty pastas, EVOO, balsamic vinegars, cheeses, meats, deli items. ...and a full butcher shop. If you are a foodie or just love to eat really well, Marczyk's should be in your list of places to visit frequently. Loved it. SERVICE and just the best beef and fish you ever ate. Called last Saturday, spoke to 'Sam' - SO helpful and so kind, ordered steaks and shrimp, they were all ready for us when we arrived. (Everything was delicious!!!) At this time have a real mobility problem and cannot go around the store. This kind of service is rare and very special indeed. read more

Want to have an actual GOOD EXPERIENCE in a grocery store? You found it with Marcyk's. The employees KNOW the products. They check the freshness while you are purchasing. Never have found an expired product on the shelf. I did mention to them to please consider marking cheese RAW or PASTEURIZED since they do buy a lot of craft cheeses, and now this does matter to people. They can usually tell me if it is raw or not, but hopefully they'll mark that on the package. Now do this --- GO TO THE SEAFOOD section. IN FACT, never go anywhere else to buy fish. It's FRESH, they know where the fish is coming from and its about as high a quality as you'll find. Also GREAT JOB MARCYK's finding great quality eggs to sell. Also tip my hat to the Italian tomatoe based products = you know, where TOMATOES actually taste like tomatoes. Good luck finding that with corporate america these days. These guys really came through for me on Thanksgiving! We needed a Few things that were seemingly not Available anywhere my relative had gone to. I called the store as it was a quick drive away and they had everything we needed and happily put all of the items aside for me so they would not get Snapped up by someone else. They typically have a great and interesting assortment of special candies and seasonal things too, so it's Fun to check them out. The wine and liquor store right next door makes it especially convenient if you're running out of time. Lots of ready made deli items to grab and go also Make it a fun place to put a Quick picnic together. Things tend to be priced a little bit on the high side, But the convenience somehow makes up for that. read more

They make hot soups every day, which are absolutely delicious You can get a serving size for $6 and a pint for $11. I Love their Split Pea, Cream of Potato and Broccoli and Cheese. The people there are very friendly and helpful Their selections of fresh sandwiches, pies, fruits and vegetables, along with other grocery items and "to go" foods are wonderful. Please go and try them out. This location is on Fairfax and Colfax, the south side of the street, across from Nugg's ice cream. I've known Marczyk for a long time. They used to have one location but now has two locations. They also have added a section where they carry alcohol. This small local grocery store has grown so much. I'm happy for their tremendous success. On my way to my late afternoon shift, I made a quick stop at this Colfax location for a few items I needed for tonight. I found several items that appealed to my eyes. The meat/deli section is clean. One of the guys promptly assisted me for what I needed. There was a line at the register but was moving quickly as there were 3 or 4 cashiers to assist the shoppers. My checker was also nice and pleasant to me. Shopping at a grocery store can be frustrating especially during this holiday season. I experienced none of that while I was there. What happened to the great customer service they used to have at Marczyk's? We went into the store on yesterday to pick up some wine and tasty treats for mid afternoon snack. While there were quite a few staff in the store, all seemed involved in their conversations with each other. The checker seemed indifferent to us as customers. When we went into the wine shop and selected a bottle of wine, the cashier there walked out of the shop just as we walked up to the counter to pay. We waited a few minutes but because we were short on time, we left the bottle of wine we had selected on the counter and left. Hopefully this was just a one-off and Marczyk's offers a better customer experience to other shoppers. read more

I love Marczyk's, both locations! Downtown, on Clarkson, you might see them making their sausage by hand behind the glass, literally twirling them. I'm spoiled now. Put 1 link hot italian and 1 sweet into your sauce, or make meatballs from them, and you'll never go anywhere else! Sometimes they have chorizo, or andouille or French breakfast sausage. Trained butchers know what they're doing. Although more pricey, their meat is worth it. Excellent rib eye, and we got a chicken to roast recently that was so sublime, it reminded me of what chickens REALLY looked and tasted like, when my grandma cooked them. They have a tiny but tasty deli, the Nieman's Ranch Jambon Royale is delicate and flavorful; put in a custom sandwich, or it won't make it home from its paper wrapping! Nice little selection of cheeses, too. All kinds of delights during the holidays. Do pay them a visit, I bet you find something you'll like. Oh, the other location on Colfax is just as good, too. I love Denver... after all, I've lived here a long time. One thing hard to find here is a good meat selection. I love Costco meats, but sometimes you just can't mentally deal with a Costco trip. Marczyk is small but mighty! Top notch gourmet grocery store on Colfax. I think if you wanted a certain type of protein they could procure it. Ground lamb? yes! ground veal? yes! Oh and the filets and ribeyes.... The have a great little deli and feature quality meats and soups. I got the French Dip, which is hard to find a top quality sandwich in Denver. There's was delicious. Service? Ten plus! meat guy? gracious and knowledge, deli guy? efficient and friendly. They have a connected wine and liquor store, but because of those pesky Colorado liquor laws you have to pay separately... no big deal. I've been a customer for 20 years, because they are close by and convenient. I've learned they are good for some things (meats, fish - when on sale), but as a rule WAAYYY overpriced in general, and they've been that way since day one (and gotten worse). I notice other older comments about prices, but most folks appalled by this must have stopped coming here. They do have specials for "members" that can bring exorbitant prices down to something you can splurge on occasionally. Be sure to bring your own bag, one time I didn't and paid the 10 cent bag fee PLUS...a 15 cent "Marczyk" bag fee. 25 cents for a paper bag you pay 10 cents for anywhere else in Denver. It's been a hot minute since I've been here - 2011 to be exact - but this store has just about everything you could want to jazz up any meal. Artisan cheeses and truffle oils? Prime cuts of meat? Homemade goodies, sides and pasta? A fantastic wine and beer selection? What about a homemade snack while you eat? Delivery? Marczyk checks all the boxes! It's also family owned, and cute as a button. Everyone that works here clearly loves their job and has a passion for foodies! I am torn about this Gourmet Market aka "Uber-Expensive" Market aka "Can Shop Like Once In The Year Kind Of Market"... After our late Lunch, Hubs wanted to purchase some Sausages and some items, to this Marczyk Fine Foods we went. That recent visit was on Friday October 25th 2013. Yes, they have selected Gourmet Items that can be pricey to some. Yes they have some items Unique that we have not seen or perhaps NOT exposed as much as we were hoping for. While we were there, 2 staffs were preparing the Soups or HOT Items that they sell in this establishment. They have packaged meals that are in the refrigerated section. They even carry sausages from Continental Sausage Company ($6.99) that Hubs wanted to try. We purchased Bai Drinks ($2.99), 2 Zapp's Chips ($1.29) each, Boylan Birch Beer ($1.69) and MFF Chocolate Cake ($5.99) during this visit. The cashier who handled our transaction his name is Devon. Time was at about 15:45hrs ish. The chips that Hubs purchase was too salty for my personal taste bud. The MFF Chocolate Cake was too dense and too sweet. Hubs said the Chocolate Cake was A-OK, at least it satisfy his Chocolate Cake Craving Fix for that evening. Take note to self, the Bai Drink sold at MFF is more expensive than other stores that I know of. *Sigh* NOTE To Self Again, Double Check, Triple Check and remember, always remember the pricing aka cost... The parking space allocated outside this establishment though sufficient can be a little tricky and "tight space" to get in and out if you have a Huge Vehicle. Two weeks ago, came in on a Saturday to purchase items for a family birthday party. The gentlemen who helped me with my steaks went out of their way to make sure I received exactly what I required and assisted me with a seafood purchase as well. The steaks and the shrimp were quite simply fabulous!! - and the vegetable and fruit I purchased were top quality as well. I am an older lady and have difficulty with my mobility. A very kind lady employee assisted me in checking out, and helped me take my groceries to the car. I fell to the ground getting into my car, and the employees of Marczyk called 911, and stayed with me until the blessed Firemen came and got me up. Every employee could not have been kinder and more helpful - I am so very appreciative of their help, support, and wonderful food. Small, clean, local vendors offering delicious samples, give you free paper bags with purchases, they have a deli in the back that makes sandwiches, friendly customer service, and they had the Bjorn's Honey I was looking for specifically. The parking lot is TINY. But you can park on the street without issue (next to the houses). I wouldn't advise parking there all day, though. If I wanted locally sourced groceries or anything with that "Whole Foods" feel, I'd come here. read more

I wish I had a reason to give this place more than 1 star, but I don't. Came here for the first time today, and was less than pleased with my experience. To start, as I was walking into the store today, one of the employees (literally) ran past me, almost colliding with me. He didn't bother to greet me, or even say excuse me as he rushed past. Definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. As for the rest of the staff, they were just as oblivious. Only one person even spoke to me my entire time there (except one other guy who managed to muster up enough energy to say goodbye after seeing that I was no longer interested in purchasing anything). Sorry, but I don't spend my money where I don't feel valued. Especially with the almost non-existent items in stock, in addition to the extremely outrageous cost of everything here (not worth it). Meats, cheese and wine. My kind of place. Your definitely paying for convenience here. This place is VERY VERY expensive. Like $5 a box of Nut Thin crackers expensive. Some great little local Colorado items and a sweet deli but nothing that can't be found elsewhere at a fraction of the price. If your in walking distant I can see this being a quick stop for a deli item on sale but if you have to drive here once will be enough. Ouch! I should have gone a few blocks further to Sprouts or to Trader Joe's. This place is not cheap, but if you are looking for high quality food, this is a great market to shop. The size of this market is small enough to find what you need. The wine section was offering a blind Rośe tasting. That was great idea for a very warm day. I ended up buying 4 bottles. Prosciutto de Parma was sliced perfectly to my liking and tastes good. It's so expensive. I have no idea how they're marked "moderate" price on here. I'm sure it's good, but every time I go in, I find myself muttering to my family to keep their hands at their sides. For a couple years we've stopped in for sandwiches to take when we go hiking, but we haven't gone this summer, until this weekend. The famous "Parisian" sandwich is now $9. There was only one in the case, too, and it was a scabby little thing, about 7" long and 2" wide, the size of a good-size kosher dill. $9! My family of three instead opted for two sandwiches (ham/apple/cheddar) to share, one bag of chips and one beverage. Total cost: $29.50. WTF?? On the plus side, we can only afford to eat half the food as usual here, which could be a great diet strategy. I mean, seriously, last night I had carne adobada AND A BEER for $10 at another local establishment. The beautiful produce we glanced at the other day averaged $1-2 PER POUND more than at King Soopers down the street -- and I'm talking about local, organic at King's too. In short -- Marczyk, it's been nice, and good for you for raking in the money -- but once I cross the threshold of feeling like a ridiculous sucker, I must bid you farewell. read more

I was driving down Colfax to grab a bite of lunch, when I figured I'd give Marczyk's a try (even if it was going to be expensive). I think I had a preconcieved notion that because the groceries and meats were pricey, the sandwiches would be too. I was really surprised when I arrived to the counter and found a handful of 'sandwich of the day' specials. Here's why they rock: - Totally reasonable price - Use TOP shelf ingredients - Never skimp - Not afraid to use things that would make a health nut cringe (butter, fat, salt, etc...) - SUPER staff - always very friendly - Usually samples of other products available while you wait Last, there is always a selection of three hot & ready soups. always sample them, and end up taking a quart home about every other time. I wish this store was closer to me. They make numerous homemade items including delicious potato salad, egg salad, and smoked salmon spread etc! The prosciutto and cheese from their deli was perfectly sliced and properly packed. You CANNOT get a grocery store deli clerk at King Soopers or Safeway to do this as it takes time and skill. The staff was friendly and attentive and the store was very clean and organized. This is what a specialty grocery store should be. They even carry Fleur De Sel -and more than one brand! This place is awesome. It's like a mini version of that other place which sounds like "Pole Foods" minus the nightmare parking, attitude and epic prices. Here you do pay more for quality yet you can get out the door with excellent product without feeling like your pocket book has been brutally violated. Fresh produce, top quality meet, sammies made to order and a nice selection of cheese are consistent here. I bought a couple of ribeye steaks here previous that were crazy good! The staff are ALWAYS helpful and polite. I went there today to pick up some house made spicy Italian sausage which they had but were in casings and I needed it without. The gentleman serving me willing removed them for me with a smile. In addition you can grab a nice bottle of vino as well to wash down your tasty morsels. Starting in late April every Friday they will be doing a BBQ starting in the evening. It's kinda like an awesome casual small block party with great food. This is now one of my favorite sandwich places. The portion is huge and all under $10. If you go there with another person, I recommend to order a sandwich and soup you both like and just share it. I really like the lamb soup and one of their vegan sandwiches (can't remember the name). Don't go there for grocery shopping if you are not rich. While I appreciate the fact that they have a lot of local stuff, it's just too expensive, sometimes even more expensive than Wholefoods, believe it or not. I joined my friend Blake here for opening night of Burger Nights for the summer. It's a great concept. Big grill full of Angus beef, cooked to order. So it works like this. Go into the store and get your beverage of choice and any sides you may want. Go to the register and pay for this... and tell them you want burgers. They will charge you for those things and then 7.99 each for your burger. Then you take your receipt to the guy by the grill and tell him how you want your burger cook and cheese or no. They take your name and you go find a place to sit or stand depending on how many people are around. On this particular evening, it was beautiful outside and PACKED with people. My recommendation is to bring your own camp chairs if you have them. People seemed to want to hang out and be social so it just kept getting more and more crowded. They call your name and you go grab your burger. Then you can go to the table of goodies to add Ketchup, Mayo and Mustard. Not the cheap stuff either as well as Onions, Tomato and lettuce. There were also some other sauces there if you were feeling brave. Burgers were yummy, cooked on a great charcoal grill and so juicy and flavorful. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for a casual Friday night bite. read more

Gourmet groceries: there is a small produce selection, candy section, root beer milk, meats, cheeses, seafood, as well as a DELI that is opened! We came here and left with fancy chocolates, lamb, HUGE crab cake, organic chips, and some in house made hummus. Went here for the Grand Opening this weekend to grab some Rib Eyes and some shrimp. Let me just say that the Rib Eyes looked fabulous!! Once you buy meat from Marczyk's you will never go back to supermarket meat. These Rib Eyes were out of this world perfection. After we seasoned them with salt and pepper and a little garlic everyone commented that these were the best Steaks ever eaten. I have to agree they were pretty F***ing Amazing! We also grabbed a pound of Shrimp that were very plump and delicious with there cocktail sauce. We were also able to sample some pasta, coffee, grilled chicken, and much more for their Grand Opening. I kept hearing how great Marczyk's was and the time finally came for the hubs and I to check it out. Dry sodas are one of my favorite sodas and they have all the flavors. We also loaded up on chips, European candy, dulce de leche and butter cookies. I should mention that most of the purchases were for a work function! I thought the store would be a little bigger, however, once I adjusted my expectations it was a cute upscale neighborhood grocery store. "Burger night" except the burgers are prepared at ONE temperature, over well. Asked the "chef" why this cost me $15..."the bacon was extra ($3 {$8.99 for the burger})its the best meat you'll taste".
