The lady who works here has to be one of the rudest and most miserable human beings I have ever encountered. She speaks to you as if she is inconvenienced that you dare shop in her store. Today I was just inquiring about a pick up order and she hangs up the phone on me because I didn't want to wait an hour for my food. This is not the first negative encounter I've had with her but it is definitely the last. No way I will ever patronize this store again, which is a shame because being from Eastern Europe I like their goods. That said, I could be starving to death and I would not step foot in this place again. Be forewarned that the customer service here is non existent. I've been making my way through Eastern Europe recently, and this market is a fantastic way to grab the things I enjoy and miss from that part of the world while I'm in Denver. I mean, I started the New Year with a spinach and feta borek thanks to EG! Delicious! You'll find a great variety here, from cookies and cakes to juices and alcohol to a full deli. I'm a fan of this European grocery store now! I simply wanted to buy a very creamy Greek yogurt to be precise and upon does a quick search on Yelp, this store came out. Since I kind of wanted to avoid those big grocery stores on this Christmas Eve anyway, shoppers at this family run business made sense to me. First of all, this is more of a Bulgarian store. And it's a good size, too. It's also very clean. And what's more, groceries are not piled up in aisles and or shelves so it was easy for me (well everyone) to spot something that I was/you are looking for. There were so many things that appealed to my eyes and wanted to spend a lot to try out what I have never had before but at the end, I exercised discretion to just pick what I truly needed for the holiday. I got me a tub of Bulgarian yogurt and a can of grape leaves. There is also a cafe on the other side of the store. This place is a good place for a quick breakfast or lunch. Coffee looks gourmet, too (they serve Turkish sand coffee.) Oh, let's not forget, the checker lady was pretty nice to me (the service was decent enough in other words.) At home, I tried both the yogurt and grape leaves. Yogurt tasted very creamy but not decadent but most of all, it tasted so clean. And the canned grape leaves were surprisingly decent for something that were in a can. I'll definitely buy this again! read more

It was such a pleasant surprise! My Croatian friends always talk about this place but I can't believe it was my first time there (considering I've been living in CO for almost two decades). It is a store plus a cafe that are connected together. This review is for the store only. East Europe market has, well...lots of goods from East Europe! Bulgaria, Croatia, Bosnia, etc. Great selection of tea, coffee, sweets,, canned goods, smoked meats, sausages, frozen pierogis, cakes, etc. Everything is very fresh and the store doesn't feel cramped as some of the Eastern European stores. Plenty of space to browse around with your shopping cart. Overall, I recommend checking it out if you are looking to try something different! read more

This is a favorite European market of mine! I've been going here for several years so I'm overdue to write a review for this place. I was in Denver attending an event yesterday and when finished with it, I decided to visit here for some lunch along with shop for some groceries. I love how they expanded the grocery store, adding on a nice Balkan type cafe. This is a great place to visit and have some lunch if you haven't tried Balkan cuisine before. I love the music played in the cafe as it's very fitting for the environment. It reminds me of sitting in an actual cafe in The Balkans. A very favorite dish of mine is cevapi. If you haven't tried it before, I highly recommend it! I'm not that impressed with the lepinja (bread) served with it. However, it's still a really good meal. I was hedging on ordering it and decided to get it since I no longer live in the Denver area. I loved the generous portion of raw white onion served with the cevapi here. Plenty of onion makes the meal better, in my opinion. Also served with cevapi is kajmuk (clotted type cream) and ajvar (eggplant type relish). These are wonderful condiments to go with cevapi. They also serve plenty of other dishes from The Balkans which I recommend trying as well. I also recommend exploring their market area where a huge variety of Eastern European products are sold. I love how they offer plenty of shopping baskets and carts for your shopping experience. They also have a wonderful display case of various deli meats, sausages and cheeses. There is nice freezer section as well which features various frozen meats and products to be baked. You may purchase cevapi in the frozen section and grill them at home. Don't forget the lepinja which they sell in their bakery display case. They also sell kajmuk and ajvar as well for that dining at home experience, for your cevapi. Take your time browsing the market. There are so many wonderful products to choose from. There may be products you get hooked on and will find yourself as a returning customer. I'm sure this business would love that. While eating my cevapi earlier, I heard an American couple chatting and enjoying their meals. It was wonderful to see this! I also recommend trying their burek. It's a baked product that is made with several layers of phyllo dough with meat, cheese or potato on the inside. They offer these ready to go in their bakery case or frozen which you can bake at home, of course. The meat burek is best eaten with whole milk yogurt on the side. Purchase the yogurt plain at your local grocery store or you may buy a tub of it here. Staff here is very friendly as well. There is usually a woman who works both the cafe and the market. She is always very busy every time I visit. Kudos to her for being a hardworking person. I always look forward to my next visit here. Who knows when that will be but this is always a treat to visit here! I hope that your visit will be as memorable as each one of mine! read more

It is with a heavy heart that I write my first negative review (or Yelp review of any kind, come to think of it). I recall having pleasant experiences popping into this little market a few years ago, so on the way back from lunch with the family today, I decided to take a quick detour for a caffeinated drink for the wife, maybe something sweet for the kids. I asked the lady at the counter if they had iced tea. "No," she said. "Ok, how about iced coffee?" She said she could do a cold Nescafe and asked if I wanted sugar, which I declined. I wandered around the store while it was being prepared, then returned to the counter where I saw a very milky looking iced coffee. Shoot, forgot to say no milk (wife is lactose intolerant). But, to be fair, she didn't tell me she was going to be dumping a pint of milk in the iced coffee. No problem, I'll just explain to her the situation. "I only put in a little milk," she insisted. Then instead of apologizing or offering to make a new one, she drops the full coffee into the trash can and turns to help the next customer. Wow! I waited for another minute till it was clear she wasn't turning back to help me, then left. I'm sure there are things to recommend this place, as the cafe area was pretty full, but don't think we'll be going back again. read more

Yes, you may well have visited East Europe Market (or, as it's alternately termed, European Gusto) on one or more of your many jaunts up and down Colorado Boulevard. But the cafe will also wow you with its offerings from the former Yugoslavia, like the Balkan burger variant Pljeskavica (made here explicitly with beef, out of respect to Denver's sizable Bosnian Muslim community). Pronouced "meech" and known more formally as Mititei, these juicy Romanian pork sausages will make the trip from your plate to your mouth in record time from your very first bite. No matter what you order, don't forget to have a refreshing beverage alongside - a nice cold bottle of Jupi (Slovenian orange soda) or hot cup of seasonal tea will surely hit the spot. Oh, you'd like to know a bit more about the market itself? Silly me. Let's go have a peek, shall we? On these very shelves you'll be greeted with a wide variety of gastronomic goodies from all over Eastern Europe. I honestly think EEM has one of the largest selection of vegetable relishes I've seen locally - whether you call it Ajvar, Zacusca,or Lutenitsa (or, indeed, something totally different) in your native tongue, you can more than likely find it here. The meat department is no slouch either of course, no matter if you're seeking Bulgarian-style dried beef (Pastarma Govezhda) or Hungarian smoked pork ribs (Füstölt Oldalas). Needing coffee? They've got you covered, whether your whims lean towards Turkish, Albanian, or, um, pan-Yugoslav (for lack of a better expression). And if you have a sweet tooth, I think the German, Polish, and other candies/cookies/cakes/etc. will be just what you have in mind (the Milka and E. On our tour of international food markets, we also made a stop to this Bulgarian food store. Upon entering the store, you are hit with a wave of delicious smelling meat or bread or combination of the two. It was just so incredible to be bathed in that culinary wonder. We wandered up and down the aisles and there is so much to look at. Of course we filled up our basket with goodies that we have never tried before. The usual chocolate requirement was there but we also picked up pasta that is tiny grains almost like cous cous but you cook it for 17 minutes! I cannot wait to try it out. We also took some of the softest most delectable bread home out of their front case. Our friend picked up one that was filled with cheese and sprinkled with herbs on top and for that alone I need to go back. read more

This little market sells all kinds of things including: ginormous plain wafer that you can use in sheet cake (I had no idea this was sold anywhere, this is the 1st time I've seen this), sausage, cheese, cake, canned goods, cookies, candy, cured meats, coffee, teas, oils, juices etc. They have their own private parking lot. They have lots of exotic and interesting goods that I haven't seen at other grocery stores. Any place that sells Milka chocolate bars for cheap has my heart in its hand. Food: You can get a variety of Bulgarian products here, most of which I'd never seen before. Wish I knew how to cook with these ingredients. They also have a large collection of Eastern European DVDs and music CDs for sale. The best part of this store is the FULL SHELF of European chocolate bars. They had about 10 different types of Milka chocolate and some other brands I'd never seen before. Service: No language barrier here, although I did hear a lot of people speaking in what I think was Bulgarian. Atmosphere: This is a fairly small market, which is more of a convenience store than anything else. If you have spent any time in Europe and have been searching for food you enjoyed. I recommend this store. I have driven past it several times over the years, but up until a few months ago I had never stopped in. I was very happy to find banana nectar available there and I have hooked several other people on the stuff. They also sell kinder eggs and I don't know why they never caught on here in the states. I will warn that the soda sold there, requires a special palette to tolerate. It's sad to say after moving to Colorado, from the east coast, my wife and I can't seem to find any decent place that sells our food. This place has some of our foods but, unfortunately on more than one occasion we noticed how many things were expired, I understand once in a blue moon for this to happen but, not after every visit and some things went back to 2015, like seriously do you check your inventory at all or just purchase old shit at a discount just to resell it to your customers at regular price. Also, some things are way overpriced, and not all that great to begin with. I'd definitely say buyer beware and if you do choose to go and shop there for something just be cautious of the date and price. We easily would spend hundred some odd bucks just on 2 or 3 bags worth of stuff unbelieveiable. read more

Love this place so much, we take a monthly trip here from Colorado Springs. We drive to Denver just to go to this place. That should say quite a bit. They have meat and cheese pitas or bureks depending on which European country you hail from. They have pretty much everything an Eastern European human's heart (my husband's) could desire from Turkish coffees, pasteta, bitter lemon sodas to nice Bulgarian feta cheeses. I love this place and you should totally visit. It's a mini cultural experience. This last part I write months after the original review. Check out the expiration dates on the products. When we are totally homesick for Croatia, we come here and step across the ocean. Their burek competes, as does their cheese in brine and sausage. You can even sit, drink a kava s mlijekom and watch soccer. They sell pickled cabbage for sarma and their čevap and lepinja are okay, and of course you can get proper ajvar. Great market offering all things East European. The meat and cheeses make perfect trays, Smoki is a peanut tasting Cheetos textured item that is a perfect snack, Vipro is a delicious red pepper spread that I eat for breakfast with kaymak, and the stuffed items (grape leaves, tomato peppers, and cabbages) are very reasonably priced. While friends were visiting from Serbia, we stopped here so they could make a dinner for us and at the same time gave me a tour of the store telling me what I could not live without. Hence the Smoki. And most important to my Serbian friends, East Europe Market carries all kinds of Turkish coffee and the accessories for a perfect coffee. read more

Reading the past reviews, I made sure to check expiration dates on all the products I bought here, but I found nothing expired. My experience at this store was nothing but wonderful. Lots of goodies and sweets to be found here. I was pleasantly shocked by the literal wall of Milka chocolates and other chocolate varieties. Along with the candies and packaged desserts, there are a lot of jellies and jams and canned food items. There are also refrigerated meats at the front. Not knowing any other language besides English, it is always daunting to walk into stores with labels in other languages, but I felt welcomed by the woman at the cash register. I like this market, but I do think it's a little pricey. They have a pretty big variety of Eastern European products like candies, cookies, jellies and jams. There's also a deli section with cured meats and some yummy desserts like Baklava and Canoli's (which I find to be a bit strange. Greek and Italian?). Many of these products you can also find at H Mart so I usually get my Eastern European fix there. It's just easier, but to get a wide variety it's better to come here. read more

There are items here from Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia. They Sell Ajvar(u can Google it), Instant Yummy Soup Mixes And all kinds of special chocolate including "Milka" and "Kinder". They have the "Fructa" Brand nectar juice which is unbelievable. Hazlenuts are a popular export from that area, which is why they carry a lot of products with them, think "Nutella" read more

Stores like these are a treasure. We stayed at a nearby hotel and stocked up on sausage, spices, tea, and baklava. We ate the baklava for breakfast the next morning. More people need to shop here so that they can sell through their inventory. Some of the paprika was past date. read more

This place reminds me of run-of-the-mill grocery store joints in South Eastern Europe. Really good selection of foods from the old country (in my case Serbia and Bosnia). Sure some things are little pricey but considering the journey and distance these products have to travel its quite understandable. Besides, how does one put price on nostalgia? I guess I should ask the owner next time i go over there. I go to this place maybe once per month and drop $200 per trip. I mostly buy smoked meets (pig), spices, sweets, Ajvar, pate, and mineral water. What I find really surprising is the amount of products they carry given how small their place is. These days you can also get some really good expresso coffee. For all of you Nutela lovers I recommend trying EUROCREAM, don't let the name scare you, it's freaking awesome. read more
