Hey, the one criticism I have of The Villages is that we don't have good cultural food here. We have Peruvian if you're willing to drive. I have traveled to India I have lived in New York Montreal, Vancouver Seattle all over the world. This little gem in the same plaza where Sam St. John's used to be is incredible. If you've been to a well-known Indian restaurant on 200 in Ocala. Which is also excellent then you know the taste of this restaurant very difficult. Staff is friendly prices are about $20 an entrée, but it is absolutely worth it. I am incredibly pleased that we have something like this in our area. Delicious food, but some dishes were loaded with salt, to the extreme. Considering the cost of Indian food, we were extremely unhappy, as there was much salt we couldn't even eat those food items. Now before you read this review remember they have only been open 1 week. Still kinks to work out. Upon entering we greeted warmly. Small dining area could have a little more AC. Small bottle of room temperature water was given to us. Ordered Mago Lassi to drink this tasted well however would have appreciated it colder. Asked for ice but had to ask a second time. Mixed platter First lamb Seekha Kebab came out WAY over done but was quickly fixed however the next time it was cold in the center. Third time was a charm. Naan chilli garlic bread was served complementary due to our issues. Naan garlic bread All in all the flavors are wonderful. Plastic plates and silverware I didn't like made it hard to cut things. However within the next 2 weeks they will be getting real plates and silverware. Lunch buffet is $18.99 all you can eat from 10-3. Indoor and outdoor seating. Because of our issue with the kebab they took 50% off one meal. Very accommodating and will definitely be returning. read more

We have now been here 4 times. The food is always good, but the last time we were there, we ordered the Biryani. It was good as usual. We asked the waiter to please not have any dairy in it. Usually, Biryani has no dairy, but they made an upgrade to the dish by adding these little pannier balls. Again, I would have loved this before going vegan, but we realized the waiter did not understand English so well. The other thing is, they do not turn on their air conditioning. They have a fan blowing, but we decided not to return as we do not like eating in a warm or uncomfortable restaurant. Also, we feel that the lunch buffet should be around $15.99, not $18.99. Most lunches have specials and prices that reflect a lesser amount than dinner. So, in as much as we truly want this place to succeed, until they make some improvements or changes, I don't think we will return. If you don't mind a warm place to eat with good food (that changes from time to time), then please support them....maybe they will realize that in this community, these are relevant points. read more

While the food is very good here, the atmosphere is not. I wasn't prepared to eat in a non-air conditioned restaurant with plastic plates, plastic cups, and plasticware. There were at least three fans blowing in in lieu of air conditioning. The floors under some of the tables had dirt/food. The workers were unbelievably kind and wonderful and the food was good but it's not a place. I'll be visiting again. They also do not have alcohol. read more

Food is delicious.. food can be prepared mild or spicy, whatever you prefer. I recommend that you try this place. As for the "plastic" plates and silverware, it is a clean and practical way to serve, as this place is small and dishwashing would be laborious. I threw up 30 minutes after getting home from the buffet. I have not done that for 10 years. Love the idea of a local Indian restaurant especially with a buffet, but this is going to have improve a lot before I return. Arrived at 2pm & the buffet looked pretty poor with near empty or dried up items. Told the server who was absent when we arrived that we would do the buffet if it were freshened up. They agreed. Main entrees were butter chicken & tandori chicken and had not been freshened. Butter chicken sauce seemed a little sour & the tandori was hard & dry - obviously old. Naan was the best part. The whole experience was about as bad as it could get. I'm not sure what to say. Every business has bad days but it appears that this one may have more than others. Understand they are new but customers should have a positive and healthful experience. My wife will never return. Do NOT order the buffet unless the place is very busy & offerings are fresh. I'm hoping that lack of sanitation was not what caused me to get sick. read more

What a find! After not having had Indian food in so long, the two of us were delighted to find this restaurant. The ambiance is very simple, but the food was excellent and the service was great. We had both cheese naan and garlic naan, both well prepared and tasty. Then paneer tikka masala, medium spice. Delicious sauce, slightly spicy, and the paneer had been cooked in the tandoori oven first and was so tender! Then butter chicken. Again, wonderful, with a super flavorful, spicy sauce. We had leftovers - maybe because we had so much naan?? But we'll be happy to enjoy it for lunch. The AC was a little weak, but large fans kept us very comfortable on an 88 degree evening. Prices were reasonable too. They've moved to sturdy plates, not paper, and will soon have stainless flatware. Dosas are not available yet, but will be soon. We will definitely be back! read more

Amazing Indian food, attentive staff and clean stylish atmosphere. We had lamb biriyani, chicken curry, butter chicken and lamb Rogan Josh with naan, garlic naan and aloo paratha. Everything was exquisitely spiced and delicious. The aloo paratha was so tender it melted in my mouth. ​​The best meal we have ever had at an Indian restaurant locally or in Britain. There are no Indian restaurants around so I needed to like this place. Nicely decorated compared to the subpar Vietnamese pho place that was here before. Ordered samosa, rajasthani goat curry with rice and raita to contrast. Everything was below my expectations. The curry was so salty all I tasted was salt and tomato? Meat was mostly bones. Raita was very strange. It looked thick like cream cheese. The taste was not much better. Looked like bulk made raita yogurt. Rice was ok but had some hard textures mixed in which meant dry or uncooked rice. Food was very expensive for a hole in the wall. $20 for the curry. Total bill was $32 plus tip. Imagine if I was able to buy a glass of wine here. I don't think they have alcohol. read more

We are very picky when it comes to Indian cuisine. We have tried Indian from Clermont to Ocala and could never find the taste that matches our favorite restaurant in TN...UNTIL TODAY! Bombay Bistro was wonderful! A burst of fresh flavor in our chicken tikka masala with good sized chunks of peppers and onions. I asked for the hottest (Indian hot) and they delivered just how I like it! The server was exceptionally nice and he went above and beyond to make sure everything was to our liking. It sounded like he could be the owner or part of the family who started this restaurant only 4 months ago. They are tucked away in the corner of a shopping plaza out of sight from highway traffic. Super excited about this Indian restaurant! Food was excellent! Tandoori chicken was excellent, cooked perfectly. Vindaloo was super hot and that's the way we like it. No good, need to inspect and closed down. Food had too much of cancerous food coloring and spoil rancid vegetables. Poor cooking good for Ghetto, meat eaters and those who cannot or do not know about authentic Indian rich food. i had the Lunch Buffet, the Vindaloo had very little spice to it, not much flavor. The veggie korma was just potato chunk Korma and soupy with little flavor. The Naan bread was delicious. The plastic knifes and forks were a challenge. Fortunately they had plastic spoons so i could manage all the soupy dishes. Service was good, but don't be in a hurry, they still have some kinks to work out. The ambiance was ok, the AC could be made cooler, The chair to table height was hard to manage along with the Buffet line. It is a good start for the Bombay team and I hope they will kick up the spices to make the dishes have there own unique flavor and reduce the soupyness. read more

Let me preface this to say I am so glad to find some Indian food offerings in the Villages area, and while I may be critical in some of my areas of this review, let that not detract from my gratitude that Indian food has come to the Villages! Our first visit to the BOMBAY BISTRO in the villages. There was plenty of parking in the area, it was a warm day, so we decided to eat inside: air conditioning was working great, lots of booths available, and we were seated quickly. There was one server/greeter working, and the environment was quiet. The server brought menus to the table and mentioned that they were also serving a buffet. We took a quick glance through the menu and we opted for the buffet. My wife found her favorites of Saag Paneer and Tandoori Chicken, I chose the same. We also picked up side items of Naan, Pakoras, Chana Masala, and I tried some of the Dal. Overall, the preparation quality on most items was good, but the Pakoras were falling apart a bit (probably from the holding environment in the buffet table). I thought the best item on the buffet was the Saag Paneer: the seasoning on this dish was forward and fully satisfying. But, we both felt that the usage of herbs and spices was lacking on the remaining dishes - I guess this may be a nod to the anticipated tastes of the Villages crowd, but we are both in our seventies and we LOVE strongly seasoned food from India. I also expected to see some type of salad ingredients on the buffet line (lettuce, onion, cucumber, raita) and was disappointed not to see them. The server brought out a small two-compartment plate of chutney/sauce to be eaten with the Pakoras. We recognized the Tamarind sauce and its flavor, but the green chutney, while giving the appearance of coriander and mint chutney had an unfamiliar taste. I queried the server about the sauce seasonings, but I did not recognize the space that he said may have been added (I am accustomed to fresh mint, cilantro, ginger and green chillies. ground cumin and black salt. Perhaps the black salt was way overdone). So, we will definitely return. While perusing the menu over lunch, I observed that they have a Vindaloo Goat Curry, and I am looking forward to trying that on our next visit. (Oh, one other interesting observation: This new restaurant Bombay Bistro is occupying the premises at which I previously found Pho Villages.) read more

Amazing food! Took my parents here to try Indian for the first time and they got the mixed platter and absolutely fell in love with the food! Our server, K was very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was delicious - he had the Chicken Biriyani (spicy), I had the Butter Chicken (mild), and we shared Garlic Naan.
