Y'all check out this place for a great Indian meal! It's connected to their Indian grocery store so their claim to only use the freshest ingredients is pretty accurate judging from how great everything tastes. Super sweet service from the young lady, whom I guess is the owner. I'm not a vegetarian but sure do enjoy eating a nice, fresh vegetarian meal. It's the first time I've ever ordered dosa and man, I loved it. The Paneer Tika Masala was awesome too! Was craving Indian food while in Ocala and so I ordered takeout from here for a date with my gf. The staff were very nice. I got the paneer makhani, butter naan and pani puri, all of it mild. Although they were mild, there was definitely a bit of a kick to the food. The paneer was quite good, cut into thin triangle chunks and there was a good portion of paneer in the sauce. Sauce was delicious. The pani puri was good although the shells could've been a bit crispier. The masala (potato/onion/chickpea mix) was yummy and I wish there was more of it. Very filling too. Honestly pretty good value and quality, would eat again, maybe dine-in to get that fresh, hot quality. read more

It was my first time eating at Bombay Cafe. The decor was very Indian. I got to watch India's MTV while waiting for food. I'm not very experienced with Indian food. So I like try different dishes then I've eaten at other Indian Restaurants. I'd never done total vegetarian so this time I did the lunch special. It was served beautifully with 3 different colorful sauces that were delicious to dip my potato crape in and I think chickpea pancake there was also an onion battered donut with a curry soup all very good. So I came across Bombay Cafe which is located inside of a grocery store and at first I was a little skeptical but I was mind blown. The customer service was so friendly and nice! Came here with my niece and my niece loved the ambiance. Customer service was a 10/10 btw! They were so nice when we asked for more Papar and menus haha! I ordered their masala dosa platter which came with their Idli, which I had for the first time and I was delicious. It's like a corn cake with half the calories haha! Delicious. Then it came with a dokla like donut which was savory and flaky and delicious! The 3 chutneys included the mint and coconut chutney which were good but I'm not a fan of the coconut but it still hit the spot. The dosa itself was better than I've had in the past and I gave it a thumbs up. Delicious flaky rice pancake with savory tangy potatoes stuffed inside! I was in heaven! But the Vada pav? I had two reasons for not giving this restaurant 5 stars. First, they are 100% vegetarian but that wasn't obvious when looking at the post on line. I don't have a problem with that but had my mouth set on a lamb dish, and obviously didn't get it. I would have gone elsewhere, but was in an RV and went to great lengths to get here. Second, $17 for the daily special curry, and they don't give you enough rice, is just not acceptable. Especially at lunch time. The taste of the food is very good. Just not what I wanted. read more

Been to this small but cozy little restaurant a few times and the service has been great. The cuisine is rather tasty and definitely satisfied our palate. Also under new management. I do have to mention that on three occasions we did ask for the dishes to be mild and asked if they could be prepared mild or expressing on the mild side at the most 4 out of 10 so mild medium but less than medium. They said yes fir sure that they could. Nevertheless, each time the dishes we took to-go for clients were extremely HOT. They were all different dishes so not sure why they were not Mild. In any event, nobody could eat these dishes because they were 10+ in their opinion. We felt so bad because we were grabbing lunch for staff , workers and the like but they were not edible. This was my only complaint since i did mention it after each time of what happened and kept requesting to be MILD as we still kept ordering for to-go's to give them more opportunities to correct this. I really do not think the dishes can be prepared Mild and most are very spicy. The sauces are likely pre made and maybe not possible to do so. I have no idea. They were made tasty though. read more

If you are a vegetarian and enjoy good Indian food this is the place to come. We started with coffee, masala tea and ginger tea, both were wonderful. The waitress brought us a bowl of chips and a very nice dipping sauce that was really good. I had the Bombay famous dosa. It was really good came with a spicy tomato sauce and coconut sauce, and a cilantro sauce, all used to dip the sandwich in. Also a nice soup with just a touch of curry was also on the platter. Another we had was aloo mutter and it was really good and also had a little curry taste. We got the cheese naan bread. Overall, really outstanding flavor and we were asked what spice level so we were not surprised when it came. The price is very fair for the amount of food you get. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone not wanting meat with your dinner. read more

A strip center behind a McDonalds. This is at the right of the strip center and the rest of it is a huge Indian grocery store. Please note that this is vegetarian Indian food with no meat options. Having said that, oh my it was good. I recommend the cheese option. It resembles tofu but with a much better consistency and flavor. I ordered medium spice and it was just right. The heat builds and warms but does not burn. We got a tikka masala and a koftka entree. I could just have the nan bread and the gravy. The portions are big and the service was amazing. After you are done, browse the grocery store for some amazing finds including UK foods and drink like Cadbury and Ribena. read more

Masala chai($2.99, not on the menu) was very good. My kids liked the gobi Manchurian dry($12.99), but the orange colored mango lassi($5.99) topped with rose syrup was not liked by them even though it was super sweet - not worth it! Service was excellent!! Ambiance was better than the last time we were here few years ago, overheard its new management. Wish they had more options for chaat! read more

They do not know how to make good food; and lack professionalism to the core. We were taken for granted. The attendant dumped all the food we ordered at once. The girl said everything is freshly cooked when asked. But, the Idlis (steamed rice cakes) were stale and dried out! The vadas (fried lentil cakes) were half cooked with raw batter left in the core. The girl shouted at us from her desk if we want anything else!! No courtesy at all. The food was priced pretty high. On top of it she was asking for tips!!!!! Then my wife lost her cool. This is a small mom-and-pop type restaurant with an attached grocery store behind McDonald's. We came on a Sunday night for some take-out dinner and it seemed pretty popular given the number of people dining there. We ordered the tikka masala paneer, chana masala (both medium spice), and garlic naan. The chana masala was the clear winner, plenty of chickpeas, loaded with spices and bursting with flavor. Medium spice level was perfect. The tikka masala paneer was rather disappointing, only a few pieces of paneer cheese (which did taste good, just wish they had included more). The sauce kept separating, as much as I tried to mix it, the oil kept separating from the creamy part. It was also rather bland, which was confusing as it was supposed be at the same spice level as the chana masala. Maybe I just caught them on an off day. The garlic naan was okay, kinda tough and chewy. The upper and lower layer also split. We also checked out the Indian grocery store next door. It was similarly very clean with quite an extensive collection of options. They sell a variety of vegetables (okra, bitter melon, Japanese eggplant, etc..), paneer cheese, sauces, rice, Indian biscuits, etc...Would definitely come back here next time to try my hand at a home-made Indian dinner. read more

So glad to have found this place after looking for months for an authenic Indian restaurant near The Villages. It is a 30 minute drive but well worth the trip. I got 4 entrees, uthapam and achar. My boys and I stopped in for lunch today. Our server was very kind and helpful, and extremely patient with my children as they asked her what items were. We had the weekend special, 3 cheesy cheese balls, an order of Vada Pav (Fried potato dumpling & chutney between a dinner roll) which was too spicy for my boys but the eldest loved it and wouldn't stop eating it even with the spice, Chana Masala (Garbanzo cooked in onion tomato sauce) with Naan and ordered a side of rice, and Medu Vada (Deep fried lentil donuts) which came with a tomato sauce, a coconut sauce, and a lentil soup. The boys favorite by far was the Chana Masala. Even my picky eater loved it. I also had the Magi Lassi (Traditional yogurt based drink with real mango puree) which was both delicious and perfect for the spicier items. Made a return visit to this hard to find spot and it was worth the effort. It's tucked away on the edge of an isolated shopping center off the main roads in Ocala. You'll have to be searching for it to find it but it'll be worth your effort. The menu is vegetarian overall with a few daily specials added. The food is freshly prepared and of excellent quality. The quantity of servings is substantial, we could have easily served another couple with the couple of entrees and appetizer we ordered. We departed with a lot of leftovers. Service was very friendly and helpful. The spice levels of these Indian dishes were not overly harsh or mild, it was just right. The dining area is roomy and very clean. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality and quantity. As a side note there's a Indian supermarket next door that has everything you need for making your own Indian cuisine. Found this place on our drive to Houston from Miami. Based on yelp n google reviews we thought of checking it out as its super convenient right off the i75. One of the best Paneer Tikka we have ever had ! We also had there spin wheel dosa which was also very good. The lady who hosted us was very friendly and welcoming to us. I finally had a chance to try their weekend thali and it was absolutely delicious. So much variety in the thali from samosas, rice, naan, roti, paneer, vegetables, and even a masala dosa. To wash down the absolutely delicious carbs I ordered their masala chai which tastes exactly like home! I highly recommend this place as I do frequent there with some of my nearest and dearest. The menu is small but has a great sampling of some of my favorite Indian dishes. We loved everything from appetizers to the main entrees. We had pan puri for appetizers. Crispy with all the right notes--sweet, tart tamarind sauce, yogurt, & great texture on the crispy chickpea noodle topping, all in one bite. I loved the biryani with paneer best. It was a complete meal unto itself, with a little heat and wonderful texture with the cashews and cubes of panner (Indian cheese). The mysore dosa was what I went there for as not too many Indian restaurants have dosa. This one was extra spicy because of the chutney in it, along with the potato filling. Good thing we had mango lassi and raita to help coat our tongues. The mango lassi was some of the best we've had in any Indian restaurant. It didn't have an artificial taste to it. The dad serving us was sweet and friendly. When we were there, & because of our timing, there weren't too many people sitting down, but there was almost a constant number of people coming in & ordering take-out. The grocery store this café is part of, has a wide collection of Indian goods, from fresh veggies to frozen foods. We bought two huge cans of our favorite gulab jamun, and a huge bag of frozen garlic naan, and a big bag of whole wheat pratha, each costing less than $7. My son picked up a box of palmiers, and I happened upon chai puri. The latter is wheat crips (which look homemade), with cumin and turmeric in it.
